PHP: Use a $_GET-Param with multiple other Params within a $_GET-Param

yeah, I know, the title is kind of confusing, but no better title came to my mind.
Here is my problem:
I want to use a link in my application, which would look like this:
localhost/index?jumpto=some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234&someparam2=4321
The problem is that &someparam2 is meant to hang on the second $_GET-Param.
It would be like this:
localhost/index?jumpto=some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234&someparam2=4321
Instead, PHP interprets that &someparam2 hangs on the first $_GET-Param.
localhost/index?jumpto=some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234&someparam2=4321
Does anyone know a solution for this?
I already tried
localhost/index?jumpto='some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234&someparam2=4321'
but of course that didn't work.
I hope you can understand my problem.
Thank you for your time.
You will need to URL encode your string some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234 so that php will not parse & in the query string as a param separator.
use urlencode("some_folder/somescript.php?someparam1=1234");

Sending information through URL using $_GET not working

So I'm trying to do something extremely simple, and after reading through forums, and researching on google I still can't figure out why this is not working. But this is mostly like because I'm still a very much noobie programmer. I'm trying to send information through a url, and having a script pick it up using the $_GET super global.
Here's the link code, in a file called TESTFORM.php:
<p>
Here's a link:
ID
</p>
This is the TESTGET.php script:
<?php
if (isset($_GET['id']))
echo 'it is set<br />';
else
echo 'it is not set<br />';
?>
This yields in a "It is not set" appearing on the page every time. Any thoughts? Are there ghosts in my computer ruining my code? Thanks for taking the time to read through this! Happy coding!
I'm no PHP programmer, but I do know from HTML that computers (especially file names) don't "like" spaces. Try removing the spaces in the id = 5 code.
Your problem is the extraneous space here around the URL parameters:
ID
That will result in PHP seeing the parameter as $_GET["id_"]. The space gets converted into an underscore.
It's always best to use var_dump($_GET); or var_dump($_REQUEST) when you run into such problems. Secondarily it is sometimes helpful to get rid of isset in such cases. Albeit you have a custom error message in place of the language notices intended just for that.
Have you tried to remove spaces in your link?
ID
Code seems fine at a glance, have you tried removing the spaces in
?id = 5 to ?id=5

strange thing, ajax response includes whitespace

I ave several JS functions that call different php files with $.ajax jquery method... yesterday everything was fine, but after cleaning up my code, i don't know what i did, but now the ajax response is like "[space]data" instead of "data"..
i could use a trim function in Js but i want to fix the source of the problem...
all my php files have the missing last ?> in order to avoid that, and before <?php i'm sure, just checked, there is no space...
how come did I introduce this error? is the server? the browser?
The funny thing is that yesterday i cleaned my code with JSLINT..! bad idea..
thanks
When I had the same problem it was just a carriage return or space after the closing PHP tag, a surprisingly easy thing to introduce by accident.
Make sure you open the PHP tag at the start of the first line of your script, close it at the end and delete everything after the closed tag (should be easy to spot in a good editor).
I can see no reason why not closing your PHP tag wouldn't just be really annoying.. but thats just me!
I know I'm late this this thread, found it because I had the same issue. I was able to confirm that the although you may clear all the spacing in your callback function it is still possible to get these white-space/carriage returns in your response text (you can even see this in chrome developer tools under the "Network" tab).
So I tested and found that if you put ob_clean(); at the top of your callback function then it clears any of those spaces. I don't know much about this function just that it was mentioned in the codex (http://codex.wordpress.org/AJAX_in_Plugins#Debugging). Hope that helps anyone else that find there way here because of the same issue
If your response from the server includes the extra space, then the php code is the cause. If your response does not include the extra space, then the problem must be in javascript.
Use Fiddler to examine the actual response from the server to see if it really has the space in it. You'll then know for sure if the problem is with PHP or JS. Then you can post the relevant code.

Problem reading data from file special characters

My previous question and this question both are related a bit. please have a look at my previous question I did not found any other way to unserialize the data so coming with the string operation
I am able to get the whole content from file but not able to get the specific string from this content.
I want to search a specific string from these content but function stop working when the reach at first special character in the string. If I am searching something found before the special character the works properly.
String operation function of PHP not working properly when the encounter first special character in the string and stop processing immediately, Hence they does not give me the correct output.
Originally they looks like (^#)
:"Mage_Core_Model_Message_Collection":2:{s:12:"^#*^#_messages";a:0:{}s:20:"^#*^#_lastAddedMessage";N;}
but when I did echo they are display as ?
Here is the code what I tried
$file='/var/www/html/products/var/session/sess_ciktos8icvk11grtpkj3u610o3';
$contents=file_get_contents($file);
$contents=htmlspecialchars($contents);
//$contents=htmlentities($contents);
echo $contents;
$restData=strstr($contents,'"id";s:4:"');
echo $restData;
$id=substr($restData,0,strpos($restData,'"'));
echo $id;
I changed the default_charset to iso-8859-1 and also utf-8 but not working with both
Please let me know How I can resolve this.
Thanks.
These characters that you see as ^# are actually null bytes. They don't have any proper display, neither they are meant to be displayed - it's an internal representation of protected properties in the engine. You're not supposed to mess with them.
As for resolving, it'd be nice to know what kind of resolution you seek - what result are you trying to achieve?

Problem getting text field as string from MySQL with PHP

I'm having this problem that's driving me nuts.
I've got a MySQL database in which there is a table that contains a text field. I am querying the table in PHP and trying to put the content of the text field for each row into a var.
I am doing something like this:
for ($i=0;$i<$nbrows;$i++){
$id = $data[$i]['ID'];
$description = $data[$i]['DESCRIPTION'];
$mystring .= '<div>'.$id.': '.$description.'</div>';
}
DESCRIPTION is my text field.
I'll pass on the details. The $data array is built from mysql_fetch_array($result). I also tried using objects instead, as I use mysql_fetch_object for all my other routines, but there is no change.
Anyway, the problem is this: if I do "echo $description;" then it works. I am getting my text field data as expected. The problem is that I don't want to output it directly, but add it to a concatenated string, and that is not working. What happens in that case is it seems to be taking $description for some kind of array or object. To make the above example work, I have the replace the string with:
$mystring .= '<div>'.$id.': '.$description[0].'</div>';
So in the concatenated string code, if I treat $description as an array, it works, but obviously I am getting only one letter. (it doesn't actually seem to be an array because I can't implode it).
I tried a million things but I just can't make this work unless I use echo, but that is not what I am trying to do.
There is no issue with fields that aren't text.
Thanks for any ideas!
There is nothing visually wrong with the code you pasted, maybe if you could also add the fetching function as well, we might be able to help you further.
Maybe you could post a var_dump of your $data array?
Have you tried $mystring .= "<div> $id : $description </div>";
Ack, well, you know, hours spent on this and then it becomes obvious after I decide to post for help. This is just because of text encoding/escaping and nothing else. I just didn't see well enough where the problem was actually happening.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond!
