Mysql query and PHP code that I'm using to get users from the database that meet certain criteria is:

The query that follows get the list of members with new galleries by using array from the previous query.

These queries working fine but I need to get the name for every user listed in second query. This data is in the first query in the column name. How can I get it listed beside '$f['id']." - ".$f['pic1']'?

While I might just alter the first query to pull the galleries at the same time, or change the second query to join and get the name, you could keep the same structure and change a few things:
In the loop after the first query when building $temp[], also build a lookup table of user id to user name:
$usernames[$r[0]] = $r[1];
Then in your output loop, use the id (assuming they are the same!) from the second query to call up the user name value you stored:
echo $f['id'] . " - " . $f['pic1'] . " - " . $usernames[$f['id']] . "<br/>";

Showing two different values depending on SESSION value in INNER JOIN

I have two different tables, one named users, and another named transactions. Transactions contains wallet1, wallet2, amount. Users contains user details such as firstname, lastname, and wallet. I am trying to display the corresponding first name and last name, depending on whether or not the SESSION_wallet is equal to wallet1 or wallet2 within transactions. I tried searching for a while, and came up with a solution for showing the correct display name for the first and last name making the transfer, however, I am trying to make it display the correct value for "Transfer to:"

Right now my tables are only showing the first and last name of the user that made the Transfer, however, I need it to display the first and last name of the user that the transaction is made to as well. The else if code is working correct, but the first part is not showing the corresponding value.
You will need to JOIN your transactions table to your users table twice, once to get each users name. Then to avoid duplicate column names overwriting the results in the output array, you will need to use column aliases. Something like this should work:

Then you can access each user's names as $row['w1_firstname'] etc.:

Working with 2 tables PHP & MySQL

I am working on a webpage that displays list of shops. I have 2 tables, shops and shops_sched.

Basically, the program displays the list of shops from the shops table, but if a value from shops.id is found # shops_sched.shops_id the page must output shops.title + 'coming soon'.
I understand this will be easy if I just place the date fields inside the table shops but due to programming restrictions I can't. I'm working on an existing project and I'm trying to minimize changes to existing functions. I can create new PHP functions if necessary though.
In addition, I need to get all the entries from the shops table. The Program needs to return all shops.title but for those shops whose id is found # shops_sched.shops_id, the program will have to return shops.title + "Coming Soon".
must output shops.title + 'coming soon'.
So do it like this:

Join the two tables :
SELECT shops.title
FROM shops INNER JOIN shops_sched ON shops.id = shops_sched.shops_id
The query should return only the the shops inside shops_sched

If I understood your question, try this :
SELECT shops.title, shops_sched.id
FROM shops LEFT JOIN shops_sched ON shops.id = shops_sched.shops_id
This will return all the titles, and the shops_sched.shops_id if shops.id = shops_sched.shops_id. In the other case, the hops_sched.shops_id will be null
Then you fetch the rows and if the second row is not null, print title + coming soon
Sample code : (Something like this)

From PHP how to efficiently execute this search in SQL Server?

I have a database structure something like the following:
Table A: PersonId, GroupId
Table B: GroupId, ParentGroupId
Given a PersonId, I want to find the Ids of all people in parent groups of that person's group.
First I select the ParentGroupId for the given PersonId, by joining with B. Then I do a while loop, selecting and recording the PersonId from A based on the GroupId returned in the previous search, and continue the loop by obtaining the next ParentGroupId from B.
Is this an efficient way to do this search, or is there an option that does not involve a while to "bubble up" in this manner?
(this is a simplified version of the actual scenario, changing the schema is not an option)

Combining your two queries into one would be more efficient:

How to reference another table with a consistent primary key across tables

I have two tables which both have a unique PID. I need to know how I should setup the primary/foreign keys so I can access fields from both tables in one SQL statement.
For example: With the following data structure i'd like to echo out the players name and photo but also echo out all their stats via PHP as well. I have successfully done this with just the player Stats, but I do not know how to get access to fields in another table.

You could also use a JOIN rather than a LEFT JOIN which would limit the result to only players who have stats

combining 2 mysql queries into 1

i am having trouble creating a single mysql query for what i am trying to do here.
first off, i will show you the table structures and fields of the tables i am using for this particular query:
users:

user_attacks:

whenever the user posts an attack, or status update, updates their profile, or posts on someones wall, it inserts the relevant data into its respective table and also inserts a new row into the user_news_feed table.
now, what i want to do is select the last 10 news feed items from the database. these news feed items need to grab relevant data from other tables as long as their value is not 0. so if the news feed is for a status update, the id_status would be the id of the status update in the user_status table, and the "status" would be the data needing to be selected via a left join. hope that makes sense.
heres my first mysql query:

now this works great, except for 1 problem. as you can see the user_wall table contains the id's for 2 different users. id_user is the user id the post is being made for, and id_poster is the user id of the person making that wall post. if the user makes a wall post on his/her own wall, it is inserted into the database as a status update into the user_status table instead.
so i have a conditional statement within the while loop for the first query, which has another sql query within it. here is the whole code for the while loop and second sql query:

The '?' is a placeholder where you can provide the value of $_GET['id'].
Basically, this adds an extra outer join, to the main query (and some extra columns, which will be NULL if the news feed event is not a wall posting), but the outer join is itself the result of an outer join.
Back again ;)
Anyway, forget about merging the queries in my opinion.
What you should do instead is to do the first query, loop through all the results and store all "id_wall"s in a separate array... then rather than doing a separate query per "id_wall" you do this:
