Little problem about sending PHP array to javascript function, i did homework looked everywhere and i know its not reliable to do this, but at this moment i do not know any other way , so try to just advice me how to finish it anyway.
I got php code executing first , idea is on page load i get some data from MySQL , i filled php array with IDs from that select statement.
<?php
include('config.php');
$TicketExist = "select BetSlipID,probatip1.betslips.MatchID as GameID,
TipID,tim1.Name AS HomeTeam ,tim2.Name AS AwayTeam, UserID
from probatip1.betslips
inner join probatip1.matches matches on probatip1.betslips.MatchID = matches.MatchID
inner join probatip1.teams tim1 on matches.HomeTeamID = tim1.TeamID
inner join probatip1.teams tim2 on matches.AwayTeamID = tim2.TeamID
where UserID = 1";
$TicketResult = mysql_query($TicketExist);
$TicketNum = mysql_numrows($TicketResult);
mysql_close();
if($TicketNum != 0)
{
$s=0;
while($s < $TicketNum)
{
$GameID = mysql_result($TicketResult,$s,"GameID");
$TipID = mysql_result($TicketResult,$s,"TipID");
$ArrayIDs[$s] = $GameID;
echo "<script>window.onload=GetInfo($GameID,$TipID); </script>";
$s++;
}
}
?>
So i got it everything i want filled and wrote on my page , idea now is on user click , to call javascript to take this '$ArrayIDs' and execute code from script
Here is code im calling script
<ul>
<li
id="ConfirmButton" name="Insert" method="post"
onclick="GetAllIDs(<?php $ArrayIDs ?>)"><a>POTVRDI</a></li>
</ul>
And my script code
function GetAllIDs(Ticket) {
$("td.ID").each(function () {
var MatchID = $(this).attr('id');
var lab = "Label";
var Label = lab + MatchID;
var Final = document.getElementById(Label);
var TipID;
if (Final.innerHTML == '1') {
TipID = 1;
}
else if (Final.innerHTML == 'X') {
TipID = 2;
}
else if (Final.innerHTML == '2') {
TipID = 3;
}
else {
return;
}
var request_type;
var browser = navigator.appName;
if (browser == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") {
request_type = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
else {
request_type = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
var http = request_type;
var AlreadyPlayed = false;
if (Ticket != null) {
var TicketExists = Ticket;
for (var i = 0; i < TicketExists.length; i++) {
if (TicketExists[i] == MatchID) {
AlreadyPlayed = true;
break;
}
}
}
if (http != null) {
if (AlreadyPlayed == true) {
http.open('get', 'update.php?MatchID=' + MatchID +
'&TipID=' + TipID + '&UserID=' + 1, true);
}
else {
http.open('get', 'insert.php?MatchID=' + MatchID +
'&TipID=' + TipID + '&UserID=' + 1, true);
}
http.send(null);
}
});
if (Ticket == null) {
alert('Tiket je napravljen');
}
else {
alert('Tiket je promenjen');
}
}
With this posted code when i am debugging code with firebug in mozzila i get that my 'Ticket' parameter that suppose to be '$ArrayIDs' is undefined.
Reason why i want to make array and send it to javascript onclick event is to check if user already placed a bet on some game , if he did i want to send all data for update and if he did not yet placed bet on some game to send data for insert in database.
So i need array and before anything just to check MatchID with all IDs in my array, so i know what to do.
Thanks all in advance for helping out
Your script could do with a bit of cleanup, but in essence you need to change
onclick="GetAllIDs(<?php $ArrayIDs ?>)">
to
onclick="GetAllIDs(<?php echo json_encode($ArrayIDs) ?>)">
I'd also reccomend not outputting
"<script>window.onload=GetInfo($GameID,$TipID); </script>";
for each row in mysql, instead create a single array of the values and create one script after the loop. Using mysql_fetch_row instead of mysql_numrows and mysql_result is probably neater.
while ($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) {
//...do things here...
}
You need to output the array as valid JavaScript, use json_encode
GetAllIDs(<?php echo json_encode($ArrayIDs); ?>)

I am a student who will conduct an experiment online.
The participants go to a website (a more complex version of this one: http://auforskning.rf.gd/TEST2.php) which will track a) which buttons they press and b) how long time the buttons are pushed. This is to track how many seconds each participant spend on reading the information.
However, there is one problem: The participants have to press 'Submit' or 'Next' in order to store the informations. If they read the information behind the boxes (as intended) and just close the window, the data will be lost.
Is there a way to store data continuously, so that the data isn't lost if they just close the window?

EDIT: There is a lot going on in that javascript function. A lot of it is exporting and importing values from and to the form. Without
really knuckling down into it, I can't be certain that my attempts
below won't ruin the integrity of your data.
Please consider hiring someone to correct this. It may be a relativeley simple change and a google of 'freelance javascript
developer' would help you find someone.
That code submits the words 'submit','submit','submit' to a function called timefunction. Apart from the hint that this code is a form of subliminal messaging to make your uses more subservient (/joke), it looks like that function is defined elsewhere. This means we cannot tell what it actually does. mlweb.js is an external javascript file that is linked at the start of this page, and that leads me to believe it is where that function is defined (that means all the code to handle that function comes from there).
There is, however, and obvious link from your submit button that calls the function using an onclick method. onClick=timefunction('submit','submit','submit') which could be replicated based on other criteria that doesn't require a click.
If, for example, you wished to make it submit the data IF someone tries to leave the page (this may cause an issue if they submit first.)
Rough code
window.onbeforeunload = timefunction('submit','submit','submit');
This code would tell the browser to send this function those three words before closing.
As that code seems to simply send text values (probably to hint timefunction to do some action in particular), there may be one of those values you could change to record that it was a close event rather than a submit. But we do not know which one without seeing the other code. I would experiment by changing one at a time if it was my code. But I would not advise you to do so since you don't know what the rest does.
Then you have an action on the form that does two things, one is onSubmit="return checkForm(this)" which seems like a form validator to make sure everything is filled in correctly. You could add this step in to ensure it has, but now you're going to try and prevent them from closing the window, and bug them about not submitting it.
Then the form is actually submitted to save.php which we also cannot see. Again, we can send the form details (as is) just as if it was submitted (WITHOUT VALIDATION). We would do that by adding document.forms["mlwebform"].submit(); with the previous code.
We can squeeze in the form validation, but I'm not sure what the return result is. Here's two options.
Like so
//no validation!!!
window.onbeforeunload = function() {
timefunction('submit','submit','submit');
document.forms["mlwebform"].submit();
}
//with possible validation
window.onbeforeunload = function() {
if (checkForm(document.forms["mlwebform"])) { //if the validator returns true, continue
timefunction('submit','submit','submit');
document.forms["mlwebform"].submit();
} else { //if the validator does anything else, say so
MsgBox("Apologies, something went wrong");
}
}
This COULD work, depending on the functions in that other file. I would try the second one first, because having validation would be great. Otherwise use the first one as a fall back.
I would add this after loadMatrices(); and before </script>.
Conclusion
Seeing mlweb.js would help.
We can try and fake the same response a submit would do (this could cause errors, and we don't know how they are dealt with)
If you're brave, and there are no/little consequences to you messing up your data by dumping errors and un-validated into it through experimentation at this stage, then test out the 2 code examples above.
If the integrity of your data at this stage is important, or this is a live/production site, then don't! Get someone to properly assess the code
I have this code that GET the php file using an AJAX method. The goal is to inform the user if the movie table is empty or not. If the table is empty, it will display a confirm box that will ask if the user wants to add movies or not?
Here's my index.php file:
Movies
Here's my moviestbl.php:
<?php
include ('../phpfunc/connect'); //includes the connection to mysql
$checkMovieTable = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM movies ORDER BY title ASC") or die("Table not found");
$countRows = mysql_num_rows($checkMovieTable);
if($countRows == 0){
?>
<script language="JavaScript">
var option = confirm("No Movies found. Add Movies now?");
if(option ==true){
//redirect to another page
window.location = "../addmedia.php?add=movies";
}
else{
//do nothing. return to current window.
}
</script>
<?php
}
?>
And finally, here's my AJAX file.
<script>
/*connect to database then count the table, if it's zero, dispLay a confirmation box*/
var XMLHttpRequestObject = false;
if(window.XMLHttpRequest){
XMLHttpRequestObject = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
else if(window.ActiveXObject){
XMLHttpRequestObject = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
function checkMovieTable(dataSource){
//get data from the server
//onreadystatechange = stores a function
var obj = document.getElementById("readystate");
XMLHttpRequestObject.open("GET", dataSource);
XMLHttpRequestObject.onreadystatechange = function() {
if(XMLHttpRequestObject.status == 200){
obj.innerHTML = XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText;
}
}
XMLHttpRequestObject.send(null);
}
</script>
When I click the link, it is not doing or displaying anything. need help. thanks.
You will need to get the data from server using an ajax request , the response could be in JSON format.
Suggestions .
use jQuery and $.ajax - for pulling data from server
on getting the response - do the confirm and switch window
You can structure the logic to handle specific logics at client & server
PHP : logic on server could beCreate and interface for responding with JSON result for status of entries on movie table. your current query should work fine.
Javascript: Make use of the interface defined on php to to query data and make use of the 'confirm' javascript to do the switching.
Right now if you change
Movies
to
Movies
You should see it working with page reloads and redirects.
This will probably work better:
<?php
include ('../phpfunc/connect'); //includes the connection to mysql
$checkMovieTable = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM movies ORDER BY title ASC") or die("Table not found");
$countRows = mysql_num_rows($checkMovieTable);
if($countRows == 0){
echo "empty";
}
?>
<script>
/*connect to database then count the table, if it's zero, dispLay a confirmation box*/
var XMLHttpRequestObject = false;
if(window.XMLHttpRequest){
XMLHttpRequestObject = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
else if(window.ActiveXObject){
XMLHttpRequestObject = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
function checkMovieTable(dataSource){
//get data from the server
//onreadystatechange = stores a function
var obj = document.getElementById("readystate");
XMLHttpRequestObject.open("GET", dataSource);
XMLHttpRequestObject.onreadystatechange = function() {
if(XMLHttpRequestObject.status == 200){
obj.innerHTML = XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText;
if(XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText === "empty"){
var option = confirm("No Movies found. Add Movies now?");
if(option == true){
//redirect to another page
window.location = "../addmedia.php?add=movies";
} else{
//do nothing. return to current window.
}
}
}
}
XMLHttpRequestObject.send(null);
}
</script>
I was able to make the code run now. Thanks to Firebug and coffee. The anchor tag is the problem. I don't know why, but when I used the img instead, it worked.
<img alt="movies" style="cursor:hand;cursor:pointer;" onclick="checkMovieTbl('/movies/ajaxphp/moviestbl.php')"/>
The PHP Script file:
<?php
//fetch the data from the table movies
include '../phpfunc/connect.php';
$checkMovieTable = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM movies ORDER BY title ASC") or die("Table not found");
$countRows = mysql_num_rows($checkMovieTable);
$json = json_encode($countRows);
if($json == 0){
echo $json;
}
?>
And lastly, the AJAX file.
var XMLHttpRequestObject = false;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
XMLHttpRequestObject = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
XMLHttpRequestObject = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
function checkMovieTbl(url){
//if not false
if(XMLHttpRequestObject){
XMLHttpRequestObject.open("GET", url, false); //not sync
XMLHttpRequestObject.onreadystatechange = function(){
if(XMLHttpRequestObject.readyState == 4 && XMLHttpRequestObject.status == 200){
var response = XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText;
//alert(XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText + "readyState:" + XMLHttpRequestObject.readyState + "\nStatus:" +XMLHttpRequestObject.status);
if(response==0){
//execute something here
}
}
else{
alert(XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText + "readyState:" + XMLHttpRequestObject.readyState + "\nStatus:" +XMLHttpRequestObject.status);
}
}
XMLHttpRequestObject.send();
}
}
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions and helped me. Chiao!
I'm trying to do a realllly simple post of a javascript variable to a php file.
Jquery bit in keyinput.php:
<script type="text/javascript">
var imgArray = [<?php echo implode(',', getImages($cat, $site)) ?>];
$(document).ready(function() {
var img = document.getElementById("showimg");
img.src = imgArray[<?php echo $imgid ?>];
var imgIndex = <?php echo $imgid ?>;
$(document).keydown(function (e) {
var key = e.which;
int rightarrow = 39;
int leftarrow = 37;
int random = 82;
if (key != rightarrow && key != leftarrow && key != random) {
return;
}
else {
//next image: right arrow
if (key == rightarrow)
{
imgIndex++;
if (imgIndex > imgArray.length-1)
{
imgIndex = 0;
}
img.src = imgArray[imgIndex];
}
//last image: left arrow
if (key == leftarrow)
{
if (imgIndex == 0)
{
imgIndex = imgArray.length;
}
img.src = imgArray[--imgIndex];
}
//random: r
if (key == random)
{
imgIndex = Math.floor((Math.random()*(imgArray.length-1))+1);
img.src = imgArray[imgIndex];
}
}
$.post('./templates/viewcomic.php', {variable: imgIndex});
});
});
</script>
<?php
function getImages($catParam, $siteParam) {
include './scripts/dbconnect.php';
if ($siteParam == 'artwork') {
$table = "artwork";
}
else {
$table = "comics";
}
if ($catParam != null) {
$catResult = $mysqli->query("SELECT id, title, path, thumb, catidFK FROM $table WHERE catidFK = $catParam");
}
else {
$catResult = $mysqli->query("SELECT id, title, path, thumb, catidFK FROM $table");
}
$img = array();
while($row = $catResult->fetch_assoc())
{
$img[] = "'" . $row['path'] . "'";
}
return $img;
}
?>
PHP bit in viewcomic.php:
include './scripts/keyinput.php';
$JSIndex = $_POST['variable'];
echo "Index = " . $JSIndex;
//$JSIndex should be equal to the javascript variable imgIndex... but it outputs nothing
Any thoughts would be extremely helpful! I'm trying to get my comics website to go live.
Thanks!
Your logic is wrong: at the moment you define your key variable, e is undefined. Then you attach your event handler inside an if statement that will always evaluate to false so that will never work.
The assignment to key should be inside your event handler and the conditional needs to go, you already have that inside your event handler.
Edit: you should also only do your ajax call if one of your action keys is pressed (put it inside the event handler) and do something with the result.
Edit 2: Checkout the manual on $.post, you should add a callback function to process the return value of your php script.
For example:
$.post(
'./templates/viewcomic.php',
{ variable: imgIndex },
function(data) { /* data contains what you have echoed out in your php script */
alert(data);
}
);
Simple question guys , i have AJAX that pickup all data from page and it suppose to open new php page to update MySQL database , its only updating last row of data , BUT when i use alert from javascript just to check all data i got he does update whole table ... is there any chance that AJAX is not working fast enough or something?
here is my code
var request_type;
var browser = navigator.appName;
if (browser == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") {
request_type = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
else {
request_type = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
var http = request_type;
var MatchID = '';
var HomeTeam = '';
var AwayTeam = '';
var TipID = '';
var arrayMaxValues = 3;
var myArray = new Array(3);
var i = 0;
$('#teams_table input[type=text]').each(function () {
myArray[i] = $(this).val();
if (!!myArray[2])
{
MatchID = myArray[0];
HomeTeam = myArray[1];
AwayTeam = myArray[2];
if (HomeTeam > AwayTeam) {
TipID = 1;
}
else if (HomeTeam == AwayTeam) {
TipID = 2;
}
else if (HomeTeam < AwayTeam) {
TipID = 3;
}
http.open('get', 'adminUpdate.php?MatchID=' + MatchID + '&TipID=' +
TipID + '&HomeTeam=' + HomeTeam + '&AwayTeam=' + AwayTeam, true);
http.send(null);
myArray = new Array(3);
i=0;
}
else
{
i++;
}
});
It is kinda odd to me when i use
alert('MatchID = ' + MatchID + ' HomeTeamScore = ' + HomeTeam + ',
AwayTeamScore = ' + AwayTeam)
Inside of AJAX code i get whole table updated , without it just last row
And my php page
<?php
include('config.php');
$matchID = $_GET['MatchID'];
$tipID = $_GET['TipID'];
$HomeScore = $_GET['HomeTeam'];
$AwayScore = $_GET['AwayTeam'];
$query="update probatip1.matches set ResultTipID=".$tipID.",HomeTeamScore = "
.$HomeScore.",AwayTeamScore= ".$AwayScore." where MatchID =".$matchID;
$UpdateGame= mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error());
mysql_close()
?>
Try encoding the data. i.e:
MatchID = encodeURIComponent(myArray[0]);
HomeTeam = encodeURIComponent(myArray[1]);
AwayTeam = encodeURIComponent(myArray[2]);
in php use
function escapedata($data) {
if(get_magic_quotes_gpc()) {
$data= stripslashes($data);
}
return mysql_real_escape_string($data);
}
to escape your data before updating the table. i.e:
$query="update probatip1.matches set ResultTipID=".escapedata($tipID).",HomeTeamScore = ".escapedata($HomeScore).",AwayTeamScore= ".escapedata($AwayScore)." where MatchID =".escapedata($matchID);
Hope this works.
Not really a direct answer, just something that you can base your answer from. What the code does is to submit a whole object using the $.post method in jquery which takes in 2 parameters and a callback function which is executed once the request is done.Not really sure by: open new php page to update MySQL database but I assume that you're simply using that page to update the database and not actually open it.
<script src="js/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
var obj = {
'teams' : [
{'name' : 'teamA', 'grade' : 'A'},
{'name' : 'teamB', 'grade' : 'B'}
]
};
$.post('access.php', {'obj' : obj}, function(data){
var d = JSON.parse(data);
for(var x in d){
console.log(d[x].name);
}
});
</script>
access.php:
<?php
$post = $_POST['obj']['teams'];
$array = [];
foreach($post as $row){
$name = $row['name'];
$grade = $row['grade'];
$array[] = ['name'=>$name, 'grade'=>$grade];
}
echo json_encode($array);
?>
So you only have to modify the php page, and put your database query inside the loop. This way you won't need to perform so many ajax request by putting it inside $.each
Then utilize $.each to build the object that you're going to submit via ajax through $.post method:
var obj = {};
$().each(function(index){
var myArray[i] = $(this).val();
var MatchID = myArray[0];
var HomeTeam = myArray[1];
var AwayTeam = myArray[2];
obj[index] = [];
obj[index]['match_id'] = MatchID;
});
The problem is with your logic in the way you are sending requests to php file to update the MYSQL. Actually you are running the ajax request in a loop and the loop is too fast that kills the previous update request.
Solution
You can compose an array and send it to the php outside the loop. That will work for you.
Guys with your help i managed to fix my problem
http.open('get', 'adminUpdate.php?MatchID=' + MatchID + '&TipID=' + TipID +
'&HomeTeam=' + HomeTeam + '&AwayTeam=' + AwayTeam, false);
http.send(null);
var response = http.responseText;
So basicly with this line i told http request not to go for next line of code until update in table is not completed , when http has done his job then it moves on next line of code.
Thank you for help
I am wanted to get the id's of all the divs on my page with the class archive and put them in a MySQL query to check and see if the ids are archived in the database.
So basically I am wondering how I can do this: $div = $(this).attr('id');
Then I would throw it into the loop to check:
$matches = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM content WHERE `div` = '$div'");
while ($post = mysql_fetch_assoc($matches))
{
if (mysql_num_rows($matches) > 0)
{
//DO THIS
}
}
UPDATE
I have this code for the AJAX now:
$('div.heriyah').each(function() {
var curID = $(this).attr('id');
$.post("admin/btnCheck.php", { div : curID }, function(data) {
if (data == "yes") {
$('#' + curID).html('<div class=\"add\"><div id=\"add_button_container\"><div id=\"add_button\" class=\"edit_links\"> + Add Element</div></div></div><div class=\"clear\"></div></div>');
} else {
$('#' + curID).html('<div class=\"add\"><div id=\"add_button_container\"><div id=\"add_button\" class=\"edit_links\"> + Set As Editable Region</div></div></div><div class=\"clear\"></div></div>');
}
});
});
And my PHP:
$matches = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM content WHERE `div` = '".$_POST['div']."'");
if (mysql_num_rows($matches) > 0)
{
echo "yes";
} else {
echo "no";
}
What am I doing wrong?
You cannot throw a javascript variable to PHP script like that. You have to send an ajax request to the page
$div = $(this).attr('id');
$.post("yourquerypage.php", { divid : $div }, function(data) {
// Something to do when the php runs successfully
});
Next, configure your query to get the variable from $_POST()
$matches = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM content WHERE `div` = '".$_POST['divid']."'");
And of course, you have to take measures for injection.
It's simple syntax error. Remove the condition after the else and you should be fine.
else (data == "yes") { // remove (data == "yes")
// snip
}
