on my server i have a folder, named: old_files
In that folder there are a couple of 100 documents.
I also have a database with an column named "filename" and a column named "transferFlag".
Now i want to read out the files in the Folder, compare the names of the files with the values in column "FILENAME" and is they match, update the column "transferFlag" to "NO" where the filename matches.
But i don't have a clue how to arrange this? Can somebody give me advise?
This is what i was thinking of:

$inhoud = file_get_contents($filename);
But how to get all the files in the folder and compare them one by one with the values in the DB?

Only problem:
there are like 1000 files in the directory, so i get an time-out after a while.
What can i do?
Use glob for getting all the files from a directory..

I've seen questions similar to this but no one seems to have the problem I do.
I've set up a process to check to see if the filename already exists in a MySQL table, and if it does, it puts a timestamp between the filename and the extension (E.G. Test.PDF becomes Test-19:25:36 if it's a duplicate), thus negating any database conflicts.
My issue is that the while the database is updated correctly, the duplicate file isn't uploaded with the timestamp in the name. Instead, it uses the duplicate name and just overwrites the original and creates a ghost "filename" listing in the database.
I've seen you can use move_uploaded_file to rename files in the servers memory before they're uploaded, but I've tried multiple ways and can't get it to rename the file in memory BEFORE attempting to write it to the "/uploads" folder. Here's the upload code:

Any advice on how to rename a file before it's written to the uploads folder?
I'd suggest not using : to separate your time stamp, because that will cause issue with file name restrictions. Try doing something like:
$timeStamp = "-" . date("H-i-s");
Solved by replacing move_uploaded_file($_FILES['file1']['tmp_name'], $moveTargetVar); with move_uploaded_file($_FILES['file1']['tmp_name'],$path . $filename);

A little stuck on this and hoping for some help. I'm trying to get the last modified dir from a path in a string. I know there is a function called "is_dir" and I've done some research but can't seem to get anything to work.

You can use scandir() instead of is_dir() function to do it.

From above example the last modified Files or Folders will show as Ascending order.
You can also separate your files and folder by checking is_dir() function and store the result in 2 different arrays like $FilesArray=[] and $FolderArray=[].

I'm using bootstrap tables and rows to count how much files are in a folder, but the destination is pointing to a different server the code below does not work.
As i'm using localhost (xampp) trying to do this don't know if its possible.

Here is a handy little function you might want to try out. Just pass the path to the Directory as the first argument to it and you'd get your result.
NOTE: This Function is RECURSIVE, which means: it will traverse all sub-directories... to disable this behaviour, simply comment out or delete the following lines towards the end of the Funciton:

I have simple script like add-to-cart where I can put multiple files for later downloading. When user click on add to cart I store the ID of the file in session and when he click download all based on ID's stored it lookup into database table and download the files.
All the files are stored in same folder and I keep the names in table. The problem that I faced is that in the table I have 3 columns which hold different files(items). This is what I have so far and is working for one column. Question is how to add other two columns?
