laravel 4 project on shared host displays nothing in browser - php

I have a problem deploying Laravel 4 on shared hosting server. Currently I have access to cpanel with PHP version is 5.3.28 ( with no ssh access ).
I created the laravel project on my localhost and it worked pretty well. Then I uploaded all laravel project files to the server and I have changed url variable in app/config/app.php from http://localhost to the new address. But when I view my page, browser shows just a blank page.
for testing that, I echoed somthing in index.php and it printed well.
but when I echoed here: Route::get('/', function(){ echo "hello"; } ); nothing appeared in the page.
here is my .htacess file beside index.php in public folder:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes...
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]

Have you checked the permission of your app/storage folder?
You need to make it writable by the web server.
For example, on my mac, my web user is _www. So you can use following command to make it work.
sudo chown -R _www LARAVEL_PROJECT/app/storage
or
sudo chown -R a+w LARAVEL_PROJECT/app/storage

Laravel 5 - Internal Pages giving Not Found Error

Actually I am deploying my laravel 5 Application on Linode Server.
My client create space for me in such type of path.
var/www/html/abcproject
I point out my godaddy domain to abcproject directory.
Now I have uploaded my all Laravel 5 files on abcproject directory.
My issue is that , my home page is working fine but my internal pages
are giving Not Fount Error.
Suppose when I try to logged in it is giving below error.
Not Found
The requested URL /abcproject/login was not found on this server.
Secondly Laravel 5 URL is getting url like that.
Supposed URL.
http://15.30.19.61/abcproject/index.php/registers
I did not understand where is and what is the issue.
One thing is my project is working fine when I try such type of URL.
http://example.com/index.php/ But In this case my URL Rewriting did not work but project is working like I can logged in, go in different pages, Logout etc.
My HTACCESS FILE
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes If Not A Folder...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
# Handle Authorization Header
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} .
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
</IfModule>
Thanks
If you are powering your laravel project from a sub folder such as you mentioned above:
http://15.30.19.61/abcproject
You should add this to your .htaccess file under RewriteEngine On.
RewriteBase /abcproject
I also faced a similar issue with LAMP configuration and I resolved by enabling rewrite rules of apache. If some needs details then it can be referred at the below blog notes
http://ankgne.com/post/setting-up-digital-ocean-for-laravel-application
Step 1: Enabling mod re-write using sudo a2enmod rewrite
Step 2: Allowing the laravel .htaccess (in public directory of laravel page)
file to apply rewrite rules
sudo vi /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf and adding below lines
Note: Change "/var/www/html" to "path of laravel public folder"
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride All
Require all granted
. . .
Step 3: Restarting web server using sudo systemctl restart apache2

How to install LARAVEL 5

how to install laravel on hostinger server/ any other free hosting server. I had learned and done working codes in localhost. But i would like to run it on a real server.
Laravel Version : 5
PHP Version Server :5.5.35
1) I had copied the full laravel code to "/home/< username >/"
2) copied the files in /home//laravel/public to /home/< username >/public_html
But it shows an error.
Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/home//public_html/../bootstrap/autoload.php' (include_path='.:/opt/php-5.5/pear') in /home//public_html/index.php on line 22
Answer :
Use Heroku Server as #lciamp Suggested in the comment
Clarification :
Please suggest me a list of Payed Servers which support Laravel Framework
Since you have SSH access do this:
Filesystem
SSH into the server
Change directory to the project root
cd /home/< username >
delete the public_html folder
rm -rf public_html
create a symbolic link from public to public_html
ln -s /home/< username >/public /home/< username >/public_html
Install Laravel dependencies
composer install
Change permissions
chmod -R 755 *
chmod -R 777 storage/ bootstrap/cache/
Checklist
Make sure your environment file uploaded and is proper.
If the server is Apache, make sure you uploaded the .htaccess files.
You probably uploaded all the assets, if so you will not need to do bower or npm.
Restart the server.
**In Case of a Limited Shell Environment
Install Laravel dependencies locally and upload the vendor folder with everything else.
Instead of uploading the whole Laravel app to /home/< username >/ upload it to /home/< username >/public_html.
Modify your /home/< username >/public_html/.htaccess to redirect all requests to the public subfolder.
# /home/< username >/public_html/.htaccess
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect All Requests To The Subfolder
RewriteRule ^ /public
</IfModule>
Make sure you have the proper /home/< username >/public_html/public/.htaccess (GitHub).
# /home/< username >/public_html/public/.htaccess
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes If Not A Folder...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
# Handle Authorization Header
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} .
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
</IfModule>
After you copy the code to your hosting server, you need to install the composer packages required to run Laravel. You can do this using composer install (providing that composer is installed). Otherwise, you need to install composer first.

Laravel called from ROOT outsite the /public folder. Getting NotFoundHttpException

I've searched through Web to solve my problem but non of the solutions works for me there, so after couple of hours of struggling with Routing module I've decided to ask you for a helping hand.
Problem
I am unable to access Laravel application from outside /public directory. I need to type localhost\projects\laravel\public in my browser but what I want is to use the URL withour /public. The main reason is because I use shared hosting and have no access to apache configuration file so I'm unable to create vhost.
Background
I've installed manually Laravel framework under the: **c:\xampp\htdocs\projects\laravel** and used composer to do the rest for me.
The routing has been set to: Route::get('/', 'HomeController#showWelcome');
In my project root directory **c:\xampp\htdocs\projects\laravel** I've put a .htacces file with the following content:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /projects/laravel/
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
ErrorDocument 404 /index.php
</IfModule>
In my Application Root dir c:\xampp\htdocs\projects\laravel\public I have .htaccess with the following code in it:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes...
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
When I type: localhost\projects\laravel\ I've got NotFoundHttpException
When I type: localhost\projects\laravel\public I've got welcome page
Any help would be appreciate, Thanks.
Finally I've got this thing working. There are two solutions that can be made.
One requires to move all -public content level-up
Second requires slightly changes in your shared hosting directory root structure - if allowed
Solution #1
The first that works for me that I didn't want to implement has been posted by #Wasim in this thread: Laravel 4 removing public from URL The solution is not save as the content core structure is in the same directory as application itself. This could cause some problems in future implementation.
You need to move all the content from public/ folder one level-up into project ROOT directory then replace internal paths in index.php file for correct onece. For security reasons this .htaccess file needs to be put into project ROOT directory
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes...
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
Modified Laravel structure described above can be uploaded to your shared web hosting and the application should runs withour /public in yor http address.
Solution 2 (with no access to http.conf file on your shared hosting)
This solution does not requires form you to move the content of the /public folder one level-up but requires form you to have read and write access to ../ROOT directory in your shared hosting (../ROOT directory mostly contains public_html, public_ftp and other folders).
You need to move Laravel scructure into ../ROOT directory as follows:
app/
bootstrap/
vendors/
public_html/
public_ftp/
(...)
Files form /public folder goes to public_html
public_html/index.php
public_hmtl/.htaccess
public_html/packages/
(...)
Then modification for /bootstrap/paths.php is required for line with 'public' key:
'public' => DIR.'/../public' to 'public' => DIR.'/../public_html'
If someone has similar issue and this solution does not work please let me know, thanks.
If you want without public on uri, using composer from your laravel root. Use command php artisan serve and browse localhost:8000 from your browser. It will bring you to homepage.
Where did you get this line from?
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L]
It's not part of Laravel. Try removing it or the whole .htaccess file in your Laravel root.

access a folder in 'public' directory of laravel

How can I access a folder placed in the public directory of my default laravel installation. This question is for both - testing as well as live purpose.
While Testing-
I am testing on windows using XAMPP's apache http server. I have placed my app's root folder in the htdocs folder of XAMPP. Thus, when I try to access a folder in public directory, 'localhost/myappname/public/blog' it redirects me to 'localhost/blog'.
I don't want this behavior. I want it to pick up the 'index.php' file present at 'localhost/myappname/public/blog/' location. But it doesn't do so.
While Live-
I have my site live on ubuntu with apache http server. When I try to access 'mysitename.com/blog' in the firefox, it gives me this error -
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this
address in a way that will never complete.
I have no hint about what's wrong. I have tried spending two days working with laravel's default .htaccess file(in public folder) and apache httpd.conf but still not able to resolve it. Have searched a lot over stackoverflow and google but still no clue about where I am wrong. Please guide me.
Added:
The content of .htaccess file is -
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes...
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
You just need to comment this line in your .htaccess file.
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
Comment it or strip out from the file. This will solve both your directory /blog issue as well as redirect loop issue.
I used the Alias feature of apache to overcome this problem. I added an alias for '/blog' in my virtual host configuration.

.htaccess file with PHP MVC Framework

I am building a website using CodeIgniter PHP MVC Framework, but am having troubles with the routing of the site. I believe the problem is with the .htaccess file that I am using. I have my site at localhost/MyWebsite and the home controller (default) is calling the index action correctly. However, when I try to go to any other Controller/Action (e.g. localhost/MyWebsite/register) route I get a Forbidden Access error. I have a Register Controller with an index action but they were not being found or something. Here is the .htaccess file I am using.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
What do I need to do to make it so all requests are routed to the index.php file in CodeIgniter so that the proper Controllers and Actions can be called?
Are you allowing override within Apache for your .htaccess file to take effect?
Paste the following code within httpd.conf configuration file from Apache:
<Directory "PATH_TO_FRAMEWORK">
Option -Indexes +FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride all
Require all granted
</Directory>
Make share that your files or folder are owned by www-data (whether owner user/group), check with: ls -l
assuming that your OS is ubuntu
if it's not correctly owned then execute:
sudo usermod -a -G your-username www-data
sudo chown your-username:www-data
