Actually I am deploying my laravel 5 Application on Linode Server.
My client create space for me in such type of path.
var/www/html/abcproject
I point out my godaddy domain to abcproject directory.
Now I have uploaded my all Laravel 5 files on abcproject directory.
My issue is that , my home page is working fine but my internal pages
are giving Not Fount Error.
Suppose when I try to logged in it is giving below error.
Not Found
The requested URL /abcproject/login was not found on this server.
Secondly Laravel 5 URL is getting url like that.
Supposed URL.
http://15.30.19.61/abcproject/index.php/registers
I did not understand where is and what is the issue.
One thing is my project is working fine when I try such type of URL.
http://example.com/index.php/ But In this case my URL Rewriting did not work but project is working like I can logged in, go in different pages, Logout etc.
My HTACCESS FILE
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

Thanks
If you are powering your laravel project from a sub folder such as you mentioned above:
http://15.30.19.61/abcproject
You should add this to your .htaccess file under RewriteEngine On.
RewriteBase /abcproject
I also faced a similar issue with LAMP configuration and I resolved by enabling rewrite rules of apache. If some needs details then it can be referred at the below blog notes
http://ankgne.com/post/setting-up-digital-ocean-for-laravel-application
Step 1: Enabling mod re-write using sudo a2enmod rewrite
Step 2: Allowing the laravel .htaccess (in public directory of laravel page)
file to apply rewrite rules
sudo vi /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf and adding below lines
Note: Change "/var/www/html" to "path of laravel public folder"
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride All
Require all granted
. . .
Step 3: Restarting web server using sudo systemctl restart apache2

A project, which is prepared with Laravel Framework, has handed over to me. Previous developer has not used git, some composer commands and Laravel's .gitignore file(also removed it). On the other hand he has prepared the project on the production server.
Anyway. Firstly I've found a gitignore for laravel and pushed the project to my repository. Then I wanted to pull it to my local. All folders and files pulled except of vendor folder.
Then I executed:
composer install
Gave me this error:
Class 'Maatwebsite\Excel\Excel' not found
Then I fixed it by the method here.
Then retried composer install, gave me this error:
Undefined index: name
Then fixed it by the method here.
Then retried composer install, and succeeded. Then I cleared cache with php artisan cache:clear
I've configured .env file and tried to enter to homepage. It redirected me to login page and gave 404. I've checked the .htaccess, there was redirection like that:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews -Indexes
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 443
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/app/$1 [R=301,L]
# Handle Authorization Header
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} .
RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
# Redirect Trailing Slashes If Not A Folder...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.+)/$
RewriteRule ^ %1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# php -- BEGIN cPanel-generated handler, do not edit
<IfModule mime_module>
AddType application/x-httpd-ea-php73 .php .php7 .phtml
</IfModule>
# php -- END cPanel-generated handler, do not edit
Changed the example.com to my localhost. But still gives me 404.
Is there anything that I'm missing?
Note: Called the previous developer, and he said me "directly copy and paste the all folders". Hi from 90s :(
OP Said this worked for him so I'm moving it from comments to an answer:
Let's go over what should be there for the pages to return correctly: First you need a routes folder with with all the routes in files inside of it. Second you need the Controller folder (found in /app/Http). Third you need the resources folder with the actual views. Fourth you need the public folder with the CSS/JS, etc.
Since OP stated that all the views work except for the login view:
First find out what the login view page is called, then go to your routes and make sure there's a line such as
Route::get('/login', 'SomeController#somefunction')->name('login.path');
Then go to the controller that is referenced in that route, and make sure that the function returns the view of the login page
Have you tried to generate you laravel application key using php artisan key:generate.
If that also doesn't work then try to remove .htaccess temporary.
Try this command
composer require maatwebsite/excel:^3.0
Have been around the houses with this - have read many htaccess issues etc - and still can't seem to get this to work.
I have a WordPress site installed at var/www
I wanted to have a specific URL point to a specific page. Started by browsing some WordPress plugins. None of them worked so I just went straight to the source and started editing the .htaccess file in the root of the WordPress installation. This is where it started getting frustrating.
One of the many attempts at an .htaccess file:
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
Options +FollowSymLinks
Redirect 301 /redirect-me http://my-wordpress-site/?page_id=15
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
All attempts at a Redirect have resulted in 404 Not Found errors.
I have asserted the following things:
Apache2 Rewrite Module is enabled
www-data has both read and write access to the .htaccess file.
AllowOverride is set to All in the apache2.conf file for the directory
Here's a big clue for you: swapping the last ReWrite rule within my .htaccess file does absolutely nothing to my WordPress site...
RewriteRule . /poo.php [L]
Any other suggestions for debugging a failing .htaccess file?
When you make configuration changes such as AllowOverride in the config, make sure your do a restart on Apache2 so the changes become effective. Give that a shot.
How can I access a folder placed in the public directory of my default laravel installation. This question is for both - testing as well as live purpose.
While Testing-
I am testing on windows using XAMPP's apache http server. I have placed my app's root folder in the htdocs folder of XAMPP. Thus, when I try to access a folder in public directory, 'localhost/myappname/public/blog' it redirects me to 'localhost/blog'.
I don't want this behavior. I want it to pick up the 'index.php' file present at 'localhost/myappname/public/blog/' location. But it doesn't do so.
While Live-
I have my site live on ubuntu with apache http server. When I try to access 'mysitename.com/blog' in the firefox, it gives me this error -
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this
address in a way that will never complete.
I have no hint about what's wrong. I have tried spending two days working with laravel's default .htaccess file(in public folder) and apache httpd.conf but still not able to resolve it. Have searched a lot over stackoverflow and google but still no clue about where I am wrong. Please guide me.
Added:
The content of .htaccess file is -
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect Trailing Slashes...
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
# Handle Front Controller...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
You just need to comment this line in your .htaccess file.
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
Comment it or strip out from the file. This will solve both your directory /blog issue as well as redirect loop issue.
I used the Alias feature of apache to overcome this problem. I added an alias for '/blog' in my virtual host configuration.
I have a webapp written in Laravel that needs to run in a folder on a web host.
The app will have to be accessible via hostname.com/webhit/. This will point to the app's home page.
I only have one route:
Route::controller('/', 'HomeController');
HomeController's getIndex needs to serve the home page. This works.
However, as soon as I want to go to something like hostname.com/webhit/login, I get a 404 from Apache.
Obviously, .htaccess is not working properly. I need it to, essentially, turn URLs that look like hostname.com/webhit/login into hostname.com/webhit/index.php/login.
I have a .htaccess file in www/webhit (where index.php is located) that looks like this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ webhit/index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
I am not very familiar with .htaccess file syntax, but I believe it's doing something wrong.
Edit:
I did it. My .htaccess was wrong (it actually causes a redirect loop), but the issue was that it wasn't even being parsed by Apache (hence the 404 instead of a 500 due to >10 redirects in a request). I did the following steps in order to get everything to work:
Enable mod_rewrite and restart Apache (plenty of docs out there on how to do this)
But wait, there's more! By default, Apache on Ubuntu prevents URL rewrites. See this site. Most importantly, the following fragment from the URL above is very important: "By default, Ubuntu's Apache will ignore the directives in your .htaccess files." You will need to actually enable rewrites by editing \etc\apache2\sites-available\default and setting AllowOverride to all (see link above for more details).
Reload the configuration (or just restart apache).
Make sure you're using the correct .htaccess. My original version actually has a redirect loop in it. See the selected response for the correct version.
After this, I got it to work. I hope it helps future programmers having a similar issue!
Check default server requirements - laravel .htaccess file works for most situations. Try with this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
I would suggest you to use resourceful controllers - mappings from your route to your controllers methods are much more clear, and you'll get full
resource with one command (routes,models,views,controllers)
I have three web servers on three separate computers. I am trying to install a php application that rewrites all url requests to index.php (front controller pattern). The following .htaccess works on two out of the three web servers:
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect everything to the Front Controller
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule !^(css|images|files)/ index.php [NC,L]
So, when I visit http://example.com/hithere, index.php is called and I can then parse the originally requested url (hithere) to figure out what controller to send it to.
However, for some unknown reason, the above .htaccess file doesn't work on the third webserver. Instead, when I access http://example.com/hithere, I get a 404 not found error in my browser that says this:
The requested URL /full/path/to/application/index.php was not found on this server.
So, based on the above error, I can tell that it's actually trying to redirect to index.php. But the file that the browser lists in the /full/path/... below is actually on my web server - so I have no idea why it can't find it. Could someone please help me and tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Edit: I don't know if something in the httpd.conf could be conflicting, but here are the settings I have in httpd.conf for the directory that this application is in
Alias /myapp /full/path/to/my/app
<Directory /full/path/to/my/app>
Order allow,deny
AllowOverride All
Allow from all
</Directory>
Edit 2: I noticed something peculiar in the Apache logs. It looks Apache is appending index.php, which I am trying to redirect traffic to, to the DocumentRoot:
File does not exist: /document/root/full/path/to/my/app/index.php
When it should be going to:
/full/path/to/my/app/index.php
So I basically need to tell htaccess to ignore the document root. I tried this by specifying this in my .htaccess file:
RewriteBase /full/path/to/my/app/
But it's still searching the document root for index.php :/ Is there a way to reset the DocumentRoot or tell htaccess to ignore it when rewriting to index.php? Even when I use the absolute path in the RewriteRule, it still appends it to the document root.
RewriteEngine On
# Redirect everything to the Front Controller
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule !^(css|images|files)/ /full/path/to/my/app/index.php [NC,L]
It doesn't make sense to me... Can someone please help?
Thanks
So, based on the above error, I can tell that it's actually trying to
redirect to index.php. But the file that the browser lists in the
/full/path/... below is actually on my web server - so I have no idea
why it can't find it.
Assuming it's a *nix alike system, you might want to check file permissions and make sure that the webserver has read access to the file.
You also need to check the DocumentRoot parameter in httpd.conf
Look for something like this in the file and make sure it's correct. That is also where apache will be getting it from.
DocumentRoot "/var/www/html/path/to/whatever"
Also I would disable SELinux if it's on and you really don't need it because it causes weird problems too.
First enable rewrite module in apache by using $ sudo a2enmod rewrite then restart web server by $ sudo systemctl restart apache2
Put following code in your virtual host.
<Directory /var/www/html/your_app_folder>
Order allow,deny
AllowOverride All
Allow from all
</Directory>
then add following code in your .htaccess file
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
