I am making a calendar in php. please help me because what I want to happen is that it should look like a real calendar and each day should be clickable and in that way, I can add info/note or a reminder to that day. I dont how to start with it. thanks
First of all you should start with reading some documentation about date() function. Than You will need some knowledge of Javascript and Ajax to add notes and also UI technologies like bootstrap will be useful to make responsive design.
1) Date() function and correct output of calendar from server.
2) Javascript/Ajax functions to add notes without refresh.
3) Markup

I am currently developing an events calendar application using ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server and I would like to know how the slideshow for events works on this site - (http://eventful.com/houston/events).
What technologies are involved? Please advise.
Simply put it would involve JQuery, and the use of JQuery's ajax helping methods. You would have to return a list of event from a controller action, as JSON perhaps and then have some JQuery code to render them into a slide show.
There may be quite a few plugins out there that achieve what you are looking for, i sugest doing a search on the JQuery plugins site.
Thanks,
Alex.
I thinks the best way to use slideshows is the jquery slideshow. You can find more articles and examples on this topic.

I would like to create and add a calendar object plus select elements(comboboxes) for Day-Month-Year using HTML and JavaScript in a PHP web application.
This calendar is common used for the user input for dates like:-
From Date : 01/11/2010 - To Date : 10/11/2010
The calendar should have a nice-look, displayed automatically when the user changes the date comboboxes or presses an attached link and may work in parallel with the date combboxes so the user can select using the comboboxes or the calendar without conflict.
How to do that as I searched a lot of web sites but I did noty find a suitable calendar.
Also, how to make this calendar as a library or class so I can use and edit it in any web page in my web application especially that I need to use it frequently ?
Note : Please I want examples using Simple JavaScript without using JQuery..
Thanks in advance ..
You are looking for jQuery UI datepicker. Visit the page and you will find many more ways to customize it.
Here is one of the cool JQuery Date Input plugin.
The one can do customize and localize.
Is there a way to return or load the calendar by an get URL. Something like calendar.php?gotoDate=2010-10-21 ?
Many Thanks!

Sure, but you need to code it yourself. The calendar is a jquery plugin. You will need to read the query string, and set the calendar date to whatever is there in javascript.
Why do you need to set it by url?
Anyone know a good source for building a custom event calendar?
I recommend you to start from looking to other people work. This are existing classes for calendar applications. You may download them, study, extrapolate or reinvent the wheel if you need to.
use jquery ui for user interface part
If you want something very simple, you could 'share' your Google calendar and export it onto your website.
A prospective client wants to have a calendar feature on their website. They want the option to go edit this calendar to update the events. Does Word Press offer something like this?
I've seen people use Google Calendar for this. Then you can easily embed google cal in your web pages. Also, if others use Google Cal they can add evens to their calendars.

Update: Looks like this plugin will help with getting google cal into Wordpress if that's what you're looking for :
WoogleCal
Sounds like you might be searching for this.
I'm not sure if Wordpress has that feature but I do know of a Calendar class for PHP that's fairly simple, easy to implement and very easy to style. Check out the tutorial, here.
There is also a PEAR package for calendaring: http://pear.php.net/package/calendar
I second the embeddable Google Calendar. They are very easy to manage as well as add it to the HTML. If you are looking for a Wordpress specific solution in particular take a look at this plugin.
