I am currently developing an events calendar application using ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server and I would like to know how the slideshow for events works on this site - (http://eventful.com/houston/events).
What technologies are involved? Please advise.
Simply put it would involve JQuery, and the use of JQuery's ajax helping methods. You would have to return a list of event from a controller action, as JSON perhaps and then have some JQuery code to render them into a slide show.
There may be quite a few plugins out there that achieve what you are looking for, i sugest doing a search on the JQuery plugins site.
Thanks,
Alex.
I thinks the best way to use slideshows is the jquery slideshow. You can find more articles and examples on this topic.

Couple of weeks ago I started working with ZF2, with a new project. I need some guidance about how to implement a
feature. I want to implement a "Like" button (E.g FB like button) this button will be attach to almost all the components
like uploaded Photos, Videos, Etc.., Honestly I don't have a much idea how this should be implemented with ZF2. Can someone
put me to the correct track. I don't need to know how to code it but just need to know what path should I take what is the best way ?
Thanks,
Well, since a Facebook Button is nothing but a little Javascript-Snippet with a URL attached, all you'd have to do is to build a ViewHelper that get's the current Route or URL injected. That ViewHelper would then print out the JS Snippet and create the specific like button.
The JavaScript that is required for that would be injected using the head*()-viewHelpers.
No need to make it any more complex than that. Furthermore i see no easier solution than this, as the position of the button and the displayStatus would be different on pretty much each page.
I need to develop an embeddable widget which has to look something like this:
<div id="my_widget" data-api_key="xxx" data-shop_id="xxx"></div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="my_widget.js"></script>
The API Request must be in PHP implemented. I have to show the three more sold products for the shop by id data-shop_id.
I'm ok with the PHP coding, my problem is how to implement that my_widget.js and how to integrate it with a jQuery slider. And how do I use that data-api_key and data-shop_id labels in the PHP?
It would be OK to use <iframe> or is better pure JavaScript?
Sorry if it sounds a bit confuse, I'm still wondering how to do it. If you know some tutorial about how to implement a widget using PHP + JavaScript, I'd be pleased.
I think the easiest way would be to use an iframe.
Although you could use jQuery to post the data-shop_id and then receive the results as JSON and process them.
jQuery access data attribute - $(this).data("shop_id")
How to make a basic Forum Thread on my website ?
Like they click it shows the thread without going to a new page and what not.
EDIT*** Like the user he clicks something that says Thread or a Programming* and it shows all the posts and they may view that post as if it were on a whole new page without the Programming and thread just the post.
You wont be able to do this PHP only...
You can do this with JavaScript though I prefer JQuery as it makes dealing with JavaScript easier. This is a great tutorial on getting started with JQuery which covers show/hide effects (which is what you want to look at to achieve the functionality you've described.)

Good Luck!
Anyone know a good source for building a custom event calendar?
I recommend you to start from looking to other people work. This are existing classes for calendar applications. You may download them, study, extrapolate or reinvent the wheel if you need to.
use jquery ui for user interface part
If you want something very simple, you could 'share' your Google calendar and export it onto your website.
A prospective client wants to have a calendar feature on their website. They want the option to go edit this calendar to update the events. Does Word Press offer something like this?
I've seen people use Google Calendar for this. Then you can easily embed google cal in your web pages. Also, if others use Google Cal they can add evens to their calendars.

Update: Looks like this plugin will help with getting google cal into Wordpress if that's what you're looking for :
WoogleCal
Sounds like you might be searching for this.
I'm not sure if Wordpress has that feature but I do know of a Calendar class for PHP that's fairly simple, easy to implement and very easy to style. Check out the tutorial, here.
There is also a PEAR package for calendaring: http://pear.php.net/package/calendar
I second the embeddable Google Calendar. They are very easy to manage as well as add it to the HTML. If you are looking for a Wordpress specific solution in particular take a look at this plugin.
