I'm creating a checkboxlist in Yii ($form->checkboxlist($model, 'name', $cbOptions) - $cbOptions is a key=>value array).
Now I need to change the labels of the checkboxes (translation in a different file than the regular translation).
How do I change the labels?
I tried
$form->checkboxlist($model, 'name', $cbOptions, array('options'=>array('val1'=>array('label'=>'label1', 'val2'=>...)
But this doesn't work...
Anyone having an idea?
Try this:
<?php echo $form->checkBoxList($model, 'name', array('label1'=>'value1','label2'=>'value2', ...)); ?>
I tested and it worked for me. You can use Yii::t() for "label1" and "label2".

I try to create dropdown-list with Yii, using listData and activeDropDownList.
I use the examples found on the web, but it refuses to create the optgroups for me.
$data = CHtml::listData(MyModel::model()->getEntries(0), 'id', 'text', 'group');
Generates an array as expected:
Array([group1] => Array([10]=>FirstEntry, [20]=>SecondEntry),
[group2]=>Array([30]=>firstEntryGroup2, [40]=>firstEntryGroup2))
And so on. So it's an associative array filled with sub-arrays...
But when I use
echo CHtml::activeDropDownList($model, 'dropdownName', $data);
All I get is a flat dropdown without the optgroups. Just the entries from the sub-arrays...
Yii 1.1.6 (I read something about safe-attributes and tried to implement it, but with no success...
The old answer below is incorrect. Sorry. You create optgroups using a 'group' attribute in your drop down data array.
array(
array('id'=>256,'text'=>'TV','group'=>'Electrical'),
array('id'=>257,'text'=>'Radio','group'=>'Electrical'),
);

Old answer:
There is a great gist here that shows how do create what you're after: https://gist.github.com/StandardNerd/2909111
<?php echo CHtml::dropDownList('Cars', 'car_id', array(
'Mazda'=>array(
'mazda-rx7'=>'RX7',
'mazda-rx5'=>'RX5',
),
'Volvo'=>array(
'volvo-b9tl'=>'B9TL',
'volvo-l90e-radlader'=>'L90E Radlader',
),
)); ?>
You're currently using an activeDropDownList which should only be different because you add your $model variable instead of 'Cars' and tweak the function
One of solutions is anonymous function.
$data = CHtml::listData(
MyModel::model()->getEntries(0),
'id',
'text',
function(MyModel $aMyModelInstance){
return $aMyModelInstance->getLocalizedGroupNameForThisInstance();
});
I am using dropDownListRow of bootstrap Yii.
<?php echo $form->dropDownListRow($model, 'roles', array('' => "--Select Roles--", 'Trekking Agency' => CHtml::listData(Roles::model()->findAll(), 'idRole', 'name'))); ?>
It renders my select within the optgroup. I do not want the options in optgroup. What is the way to remove optgroup from the select in Yii?
It looks like you are using ListData within an array and that array has another element, optgroups will be created if you have an array within array structure. For creating empty options use empty htmlOptions attribute as below (see here for details)
<?php echo $form->dropDownListRow($model, 'roles',
CHtml::listData(Roles::model()->findAll(), 'idRole', 'name'),
array('empty'=>'--Select Roles---')); ?>
If you use Yii 2.0++
And items = array(arra(item01=>1), array(item02=>2))
you need this:
use yii\helpers\ArrayHelper;
<?= Html::dropDownList('Name', 'SelectedItem', ArrayHelper::getColumn($listItems, 'key_name')); ?>
I'm trying to place data in hidden text in yii, but I don't know how.
I need a similar code to a regular php syntax:
<input type="hidden" name="field_name" value="a"/>
It's supposed to be a field with static value of a. I just need it to go with my $_POST variables for error checking.
Is it possible to avoid modifying the models and controllers just to put the field in?I cant use gii cause I only have snippets of code with me.Sorry as well as I have little understanding of yii so I have no clue if what I'm saying about the last 2 sentences is correct.
in views
hidden field with model and form:
<?php echo $form->hiddenField($model, 'name'); ?>
or without model
<?php echo CHtml::hiddenField('name' , 'value', array('id' => 'hiddenInput')); ?>
Yii hidden input :
<?php echo $form->hiddenField($model,'fieldName',array('value'=>'foo bar')); ?>
In Yii2 this has changed too:
<?= Html::activeHiddenInput($model, 'name') ;?>

if data from database and value or size field:
echo $form->hiddenField($experience,'job_title',array('size'=>'50','value'=>$experience_data['job_title'])); ?>
Yii 1
<?php echo $form->hiddenField($model, 'name'); ?>
Yii2
<?= Html::activeHiddenInput($model, 'attribute', ['value' => 'Some Value']) ?>
Also, worth noting for Yii2, the array parameter works different to a normal form field.
E.G. A normal input would look more like this.
<?= $form->field($model, 'attribute', ['inputOptions' => ['placeholder' => 'Some Placeholder', 'value' => 'Some Input Value']]) ?>
Hope this helps.
for yii2 you can try this
<?= $form->field($model, 'user_type',['inputOptions' => ['value' => '2']])->hiddenInput()->label(false) ?>
It worked for me
Alternatively,
echo CHtml::activeHiddenField($model,"[$i]id", array("value" => $model->id));
This would set hidden field value as the id from model. The [$i] is useful for multiple record update.
Here are two ways to do that...
without model
echo CHtml::hiddenField('name' , 'value', array('id' => 'name'));
with model
echo $form->hiddenField($model, 'name');
When i select value from drop down list,
and I submit form, i want my drop down list to have selected value,
not to be on default value again.
I try like this, but not working:
<?php echo $form->dropDownList($model, 'code', $countriesIssuedList, array('name'=>'countriesIssued'), $select = array($_POST['countriesIssued']));?>
Also i would like to add a first value to be default, not from db, i want to do it in the code like this, array('empty'=>'--Select country--')
but not working.
Thanks
If you must change the name of your dropdownList you must manually set the value of code to $_POST['countriesIssued'] in your controller/view. As for the default, prompt is used to set this.
<?php if(!$model->code) $model->code=$_POST['countriesIssued'];?>
<?php echo $form->dropDownList($model, 'code', $countriesIssuedList, array(
'name'=>'countriesIssued','prompt'=>'--Select country--'
));?>
The second parameter (currently 'code') must be a key in this array: $countriesIssuedList
See for example here.
"Also i would like to add a first value to be default" ... perhaps you can use array_merge()?
So the framework is CodeIgniter 2.0.2. I have a form that has groups of fields that correspond to rows in a database. The names of the fields are in the format:
opt[0][foo]
opt[0][bar]
opt[1][foo]
opt[1][bar]
etc...
The index (1,2,etc...) does not correspond to row IDs in the database, it is simply a way to split up the groups of fields. There may be gaps in the index as users are able to add and remove an arbitrary number of the field groups. All groups are identical, that is, they contain exactly the same set of fields with the same second level names.
I want to be able to use CodeIgniter's validation library to validate the form and (p)re-populate as necessary. I've found plenty of posts (in addition to the excellent CI user guide) on the pre-populating and I know how to get the working with the re-populating in general. However, this is the first time I've had to try it with the indexed field names as above. I've tried the below and it doesn't work:
array(
'field' => 'opt[][foo]',
'label' => 'Foo',
'rules' => 'required'
)
I'm guessing I was just hoping for too much and CodeIgniter doesn't support what I need it to do. Extending the existing form validation library is an option so if anyone has been in the same situation and can provide some tips that would be very welcome.
UPDATE:
Just a little extra info, I've also tried validating a specifically indexed field (see below) and that also didn't work... As I understand it multidimensional validation should work in the specific case:
array(
'field' => 'opt[0][foo]',
'label' => 'Foo',
'rules' => 'required'
)
The following controller code works for me on CI 2.0.2
public function test() {
$this->load->library('form_validation');
$this->load->helper('form');
$this->form_validation->set_rules('test[test1][test2]', 'Test', 'required|valid_email');
$this->form_validation->run();
echo validation_errors();
echo form_open($this->uri->uri_string());
echo form_input('test[test1][test2]', set_value('test[test1][test2]'));
echo form_submit();
echo form_close();
}
You can use this to loop through the opt variable and set validation rules for each input.
if(!empty($opt))
{
foreach($opt as $id => $value)
{
$this->form_validation->set_rules('opt[' . $id . '][foo]', 'Foo', 'required');
$this->form_validation->set_rules('opt[' . $id . '][bar]', 'Bar', 'required');
}
}
You should take a look at the callback functions for the validating class - this should help you accomplish what you need for validation.
