I have a site with magento version 1.8.1.0. For upgrading, I logged into magento connect and selected Version 1.9.2.2 for Mage_All_Latest and clicked "Commit Changes" button. After some time, the process of upgrading stopped, showing an error of file permission. When I clicked the refresh button, the website was neither going to the magento connect page, nor to the home page. Each request was being redirected to this url: http://siteurl/downloader
I replaced the app folder and some other files with the backups I had. The site was then loading. When I logged into magento connect, It was showing version 1.9.2.2. But the admin footer is still showing 1.8.1.0. I checked the site with http://magereport.com/ but it was showing some security risks which are solved in version 1.9.2.2. So the update was not completely done. I want to update the site again but I find no way to do this. I tried with reinstalling "Mage_All_latest" but it does nothing. Is there a way to do this?
Follow the upgrade guide from Magento: http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/m1x/install/installing_upgrade_details.html or copy the latest version over your current installation (with the disadvantage that removed files in comparison with your version will not be removed).

all. I am trying to update WordPress to the latest version(4.9.1). The installation of new version of WordPress seems to be updated successfully as show in the picture. Except, my site was redirected to previous version's (4.9) about page after installation, and from the dashboard my site still shows the information of 'update available'. I double checked the version.php under wp-include. It shows the latest version number(4.9.1). I am wondering why my site doesn't detect the upgrade of wordpress? Appreciate if any one can advise the problem. Thank you.
Step 1: click the 'update now' to update WP.
Step 2: Update information page. It shows successful installation.
Step 3: Automatically redirect to version about page.
Step 4: Dashboard still showing old version number and prompt new version available.
Step 5: check version.php.
To whom it may concern. It was the cache issue on my server. After flushing the cache, it works.

I recently updated to the current version of XAMPP. Before the update, I made a backup of all my htdoc files (all Wordpress installs), and then uninstalled XAMPP.
But I failed to export my databases. (My bad.)
Now when I try to access my local sites, I am brought to the 5-minute installation page for Wordpress—with the notification that users already exist. (Screenshot of the Wordpress install page here.) The install process only produces database errors and tells me that tables already or don't exist. At the bottom of the page I am told to log-in...which brings me to a 404 error.
Ugh.
I have tried exporting the .sql files I'm particularly desirous to save and importing them in new databases...but to no avail.
Any insight? Are my sites toast, or what can I do to restore all my work?
Learned through another coder that all my data is indeed toast. Don't know exactly how this happened, but as a warning to y'all: Find and follow instructions to upgrade XAMPP before proceeding and take every precaution you can!
I've installed a magento extension by magento connect manager and it seems to be installed correctly. But The tab is supposed to appear in admin, doesn't appear. and neither it is present in /app/etc/module/ nor in system/configuration/advance
My magento version is 1.8.1 I've tried some things but nothing works:
I've cleaned the cache directory and clean the cache in admin
I've give the hole web directory 777 permissions
I've reinstall the extension
I've uninstalled and installed a few times
I've log out and log in in magento admin
But nothing fix my problem.
BuddyPress version: 1.9.2
Wordpress version: 3.8.1
I have a very angry client at the moment.
The buddy press installation has been functioning flawlessly for a couple of weeks until the last few days.
When creating a new group, at the second step (Settings) the usual options of “Public/Private” etc do not show. When clicking “Next Step” button you get the WordPress error page of “Are you sure you want to do this?”
Have tried disabling all plugins and still not working so I’ve ruled out a plugin issue.
UPDATE:
Going to try move to a fresh server and reinstall piece by piece. Will report back.
I moved the installation to a fresh server and all is good now. I suspect it was something to do with the Varnish config I was running.
I am trying to install vanilla magento 1.8.1.0 on a fresh new server, but after installation, on every admin page I go, I have to refresh the page twice to load it correctly.
When I just click on a link, only the header loads (without menubar) and the body is empty. If I refresh the page, it looks correctly. This happens sometimes on the front-end also, but happens always on the admin backend.
I have installed PHP 5.5 with OPCache on nginx on Ubuntu 13.10 server. There are no themes or plugins or any products created yet.
Any Ideas why this is happening?

The problem was that php5-json module was not installed on the server. With previous version of PHP it was installed by default, but not anymore.
There is a simple fix to it -
apt-get install php5-json
Hope this helps anybody else who ran into same issues while clean installing a server with all latest releases.
