I'm trying to finish a script that connects to two databases, each on a different server, and preforms an update. Basically, the tables being selected from and inserted to are identical: I did a dump/import the other day. The script needs to keep my local table up to date from the remote once since there will be daily records inserted into the remote one and I need to keep it up to date locally.
The key here is that I'm determining the new rows on the remote server by looking at the Auto-incremented Primary key that the tables share, SESSIONID . I'm trying to get my loop below to say, if the id exists in remote server and not local, then insert those records in local server.
I run the below script in powershell by typing php 'filename', and I get both of my successful connection messages, and then I get this message: Incorrect datetime value: '' for column 'ALERTINGTIMESTAMP' at row 1. In this record it's trying to insert, the datetime value is NULL, which the table allows for, however I'm worried it's an issue with escaping characters or something.
How can I modify this to escape properly, or get these records inserted.
Note: Replication and large dump/import/table recreations are not an option for us in this situation. We have several similar scripts to this running and we want to keep the same process here. I'm merely looking to resolve these errors or have someone give me a more efficient way of coding this script, perhaps using a max id or something along those lines.
Here's the script:
ini_set('memory_limit', '256M');
// Create connection
$conn = new mysqli($servername, $username, $password);
$conn2 = new mysqli($servername2, $username2, $password2);
// Check connection
if ($conn->connect_error) {
die("Connection failed: " . $conn->connect_error);
}
echo "Connected successfully";
// Check connection2
if ($conn2->connect_error) {
die("Connection failed: " . $conn2->connect_error);
}
echo "Connected successfully";
$latest_result = $conn2->query("SELECT MAX(`SESSIONID`) FROM `ambition`.`session`");
$latest_row = $latest_result->fetch_row();
$latest_session_id = $latest_row[0];
//Select All rows from the source phone database
$source_data = mysqli_query($conn, "SELECT * FROM `cdrdb`.`session` WHERE `SESSIONID` > $latest_session_id");
// Loop on the results
while($source_item = $source_data->fetch_assoc()) {
// Check if row exists in destination phone database
$row_exists = $conn2->query("SELECT SESSIONID FROM ambition.session WHERE SESSIONID = '".$source_item['SESSIONID']."' ") or die(mysqli_error($conn2));
//if query returns false, rows don't exist with that new ID.
if ($row_exists->num_rows == 0){
//Insert new rows into ambition.session

Like Pankaj said, try something like this:
//Insert new rows into ambition.session
$statement = $conn2->prepare('INSERT INTO ambition.session (SESSIONID,SESSIONTYPE,CALLINGPARTYNO,FINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO,DIALPLANNAME,TERMINATIONREASONCODE,ISCLEARINGLEGORIGINATING,CREATIONTIMESTAMP,ALERTINGTIMESTAMP,CONNECTTIMESTAMP,DISCONNECTTIMESTAMP,HOLDTIMESECS,LEGTYPE1,LEGTYPE2,INTERNALPARTYTYPE1,INTERNALPARTYTYPE2,SERVICETYPEID1,SERVICETYPEID2,EXTENSIONID1,EXTENSIONID2,LOCATION1,LOCATION2,TRUNKGROUPNAME1,TRUNKGROUPNAME2,SESSIONIDTRANSFEREDFROM,SESSIONIDTRANSFEREDTO,ISTRANSFERINITIATEDBYLEG1,SERVICEEXTENSION1,SERVICEEXTENSION2,SERVICENAME1,SERVICENAME2,MISSEDUSERID2,ISEMERGENCYCALL,NOTABLECALLID,RESPONSIBLEUSEREXTENSIONID,ORIGINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO,ACCOUNTCODE,ACCOUNTCLIENT,ORIGINATINGLEGID,SYSTEMRESTARTNO,PATTERN,HOLDCOUNT,AUXSESSIONTYPE,DEVICEID1,DEVICEID2,ISLEG1ORIGINATING,ISLEG2ORIGINATING,GLOBALCALLID,CADTEMPLATEID,CADTEMPLATEID2,ts,INITIATOR,ACCOUNTNAME,APPNAME,CALLID,CHRTYPE,CALLERNAME,serviceid1,serviceid2)
VALUES (?, ?, ?, ...);');
$statement->bindParam(1, $source['SESSIONID']);
$statement->bindParam(2, $source['SESSIONTYPE']);
$statement->bindParam(3, $source['CALLINGPARTYNO']);
//...
$statement->execute();
You have to use prepare() function to use parameterized query. Here I have taken example of your query with few parameters you can add yourself with other variables.
$stmt = $conn2->prepare("INSERT INTO ambition.session (SESSIONID,SESSIONTYPE,CALLINGPARTYNO,FINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO) VALUES (:SESSIONID ,:SESSIONTYPE ,:CALLINGPARTYNO ,:FINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO)");
$stmt->bindParam(':SESSIONID', $source['SESSIONID']);
$stmt->bindParam(':SESSIONTYPE', $source['SESSIONTYPE']);
$stmt->bindParam(':CALLINGPARTYNO', $source['CALLINGPARTYNO']);
$stmt->bindParam(':FINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO', $source['FINALLYCALLEDPARTYNO']);
$stmt->execute();

Using the given below php script, I connect to database and insert data in it. But the data is not getting inserted in my database table. It is also not throwing any error. Where is my code wrong?
<?php
$host = '127.0.0.1';
$uname='root';
$pswd='';
$myDB='portal';
if($myConn = new mysqli($host,$uname,$pswd))
echo 'Connected to MySQL server successfully.</br>';
else
echo 'Unable to connect to server</br>';
$database = mysqli_select_db($myConn,$myDB);
if($database)
echo 'Connected to database...</br>';
else
echo 'Database not found!</br>';
$var1='string1';
$var2='string2';
$query= "INSERT INTO users VALUES ($var1,$var2)";
$result = mysqli_query($myConn,$query) or die(mysqli_error($myConn));
?>
You have to add single quotes around the values:
$query= "INSERT INTO users VALUES ('$var1','$var2')
Or better use prepared statements. See this for an example.
In your statement, you must define the names of the target tables in your database, that the values should be inserted into, like this:
$query= "INSERT INTO users (Name,Age) VALUES ('$name','$age')";
if users table have only two columns, or two plus an auto-incrementing id the query is:
INSERT INTO users VALUES ('$var1','$var2')
if there are more columns or a non primary id the query is:
INSERT INTO users (col1,col2) VALUES ('$var1','$var2')
You also miss a parameter in the connection instantiation:
$mysqli = new mysqli($host, $uname,$pswd, $myDB);
I have a database running on my server with phpmyadmin but I can't connect with it. Here is an example:
$user_name = "xxxxx";
$password = "xxxxx";
$database = "xxxxx";
$host = "db.xxxx.nl";
$db_handle = mysql_connect($host, $user_name, $password);
$db_found = mysql_select_db($database);
But this doesn't seem to work. If I try to insert some values into a table it still stays empty.
$sql = "INSERT INTO tbl_forum
(
title,
name,
content,
lastname,
post_image
)
VALUES
(
'{$_POST['contactsubject']}',
'{$_POST['contactname']}',
'{$_POST['contactmessage']}',
'{$_POST['contactlastname']}',
'{$_FILES["contactBrowse"]["name"]}'
)";
Am I doing something wrong?
I'm going to completely rewrite your code. As you are clearly new to databases within PHP, there is absolutely no reason not to use the new mysqli API.
Your connection should look something like this;
$mysqli = new mysqli($host,$user_name,$password,$database);
if ($mysqli->connect_errno) echo "Failed to connect to MySQL: " . $mysqli->connect_error;
This will create a new database object called $mysqli (or you can call it what you like, such as $db).
You can then prepare your SQL statement and execute it. In the code below, we have 5 parameters that are represented in the SQL as ?, and then we bind the variables to those 5 parameters. The first argument in bind_param tells the API the 5 parameters are 5 strings (hence s x5). For integers, use i;
if($query = $mysqli->prepare("INSERT INTO tbl_forum (title,name,content,lastname,post_image) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?)")) {
$query->bind_param('sssss',$_POST['contactsubject'],$_POST['contactname'],$_POST['contactmessage'],$_POST['contactlastname'],$_FILES["contactBrowse"]["name"]);
$query->execute();
}
else {
echo "Could not prepare SQL: " . $mysqli->error;
}
Assuming all your connection information is correct, this will insert your information into the database as required.
Hope this helps.
I think the last value '{$_FILES["contactBrowse"]["name"]}' has some problem. Try this and get the sql after preparing(echo $sql;) to debug by your self.
$file_name = $_FILES["contactBrowse"]["name"];
$sql = "INSERT INTO tbl_forum
(
title,
name,
content,
lastname,
post_image
)
VALUES
(
'{$_POST['contactsubject']}',
'{$_POST['contactname']}',
'{$_POST['contactmessage']}',
'{$_POST['contactlastname']}',
'{$file_name}'
)";
I need to retrieve the auto increment field from my database table. I tried the following but $id is always just empty.
The insert works too.
My table is as follows:
idint(9) NOT NULL auto_increment,
and id is set as primary
What am I doing wrong?
$conn = mysql_connect($host,$username,$password);
mysql_select_db($database, $conn) or die( "Unable to select database");
include "update_activity.php";
updateActivity("logged in", "On Break");
$date = date("m/d/y"); $starttime = time();
$sesh = $_SESSION['fname']." ".$_SESSION['lname'];
$q = "INSERT INTO `breaks` (date, starttime, user) VALUES ('".$date."', '".$starttime."', '".$sesh."')";
$query = mysql_query($q, $conn);
$id = mysql_insert_id($conn);
echo var_dump($id); exit;

Have read all comments given and your replies to each.
Only one of these is possible:
Either the query works properly OR
You are not getting the generated primary key.
Both of these can never be true.
Define, how you know query is working? Do you know the max PK before and after the running query? Is the insert happening from some other place or thread or even other user? the query is working properly from code or from your mysql client?
To diagnose the problem, we have to go though the normal way.
Dump your generated query before calling mysql_query.
Wrap a error checking system around your query call so php can tell you if the query worked or not. I am sure just by these two steps you will realize the root cause of the problem.
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors','on');
echo "before calling: $q\n";
$query = mysql_query($q, $conn);
if(!$query)
{
echo "Error:" . mysql_error($conn);
return;
}
echo " generated id:" . mysql_insert_id($conn);
#adelphia as far as i get the idea there is a problem in the query that is executed.
plz check the query properly
Borrow a lead from this code extracted from here:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-insert-id.php
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'mysql_user', 'mysql_password');
if (!$link) {
die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
}
mysql_select_db('mydb');
mysql_query("INSERT INTO mytable (product) values ('kossu')");
printf("Last inserted record has id %d\n", mysql_insert_id());
?>
The problem with your insert query
$q = "INSERT INTO `breaks` (date, starttime, user)
VALUES ('".$date."',
'".$starttime."',
'".$_SESSION['fname'] $_SESSION['lname']."')";
try with this
and main thing you are using most of the deprecated "mysql" things like "mysql_insert_id()"
store the values that u want to pass into an array or variable and pass it in the insert query.
its should work fine then...
