As a pre-cursor to my issue, I have very little SSH or comandline experience so may possibly be maiking a glaring mistake but dont realise it..
I'm trying to install OroCommerce on my shared cloud hosting and have been following the instructions within the readme file produced by Oro but when it comes to installing composer I get the following error:
Warning: Composer should be invoked via the CLI version of PHP, not the cgi-fcgi SAPI
Composer could not find a composer.json file in /var/sites/mydomain.com
To initialize a project, please create a composer.json file as described in the https://getcomposer.org/ "Getting Started" section
Fistly the warning regarding CLI... I've read through a post on here regarding the use of php -cli composer.phar install but this makes no difference and the error message is the same.
I've read through the composer guide on creating a composer.json file but as the file exists in the orocommerce-application folder I'm not sure that creating one is the issue here, perhaps more that I've done something wrong preventing composer from accesisng the file?
I've tried moving the composer.json file from it's folder into the domain's root and whilst that does start installation I then get the following error:
Warning: Composer should be invoked via the CLI version of PHP, not the cgi-fcgi SAPI
Loading composer repositories with package information
Updating dependencies (including require-dev)
<br />
<b>Fatal error</b>: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in <b>phar:///var/sites/mydomain.com/composer.phar/src/Composer/Package/Package.php</b> on line <b>109</b><br />
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please make sure you are running php composer install in the same directory where you uploaded/cloned OroCommerce code.
And check your hosting provider documentation (or contact their support) on how to run php from command line, most likely you would have to use a different executable file (-cli flag is not what you need).
I had the same issue, you need to extend the maximum execution time in your php.ini file, for instance :
ini_set('max_execution_time', 360); // 360 seconds for 6 minutes
Firstly you have to do
php composer install --prefer-dist
This will install all the required/dependent bundles and libraries
then do
php app/console oro:install --env=dev --timeout=99999 --debug=true
php app/console cache:clear --env=dev
for development purpose, or
php app/console oro:install --env=prod --timeout=99999 --debug=true
php app/console cache:clear --env=prod
for production/live purpose
NOTE: --timeout will replace your default timeout in php.ini. It worked for me by extending the timeout.

I have a Laravel/Homestead project that is finally working locally. Now I'm trying to port it over to HostGator and can't get it running due to titled error. I've tried all the suggested solutions to no avail. Including:
composer require laravel/laravel
composer dump-autoload
composer install --no-scripts
composer update
composer update --no-scripts
Nothing works. Same error. If this is a clue, I also tried
php artisan clear-compiled
and get response of
Could not open input file: artisan
I'm about ready to give up on Laravel/Homestead. I've spent countless hours on this framework with nothing but problems to show for it. Would not recommend it to anybody.
You can see the error yourself here:
http://www.tekknow.net/MedAverter/medaverter/
Any suggestions before I throw in the towel?
For the artisan file, the artisan file is not required through includes, you have it in your root project, which is created when you create your Laravel project. Here is the file.
So you need to have that file in your project.
For the missing class, you try to require laravel/laravel but that is not the correct dependency. Again that github repo is a shell for a project, to have Laravel features you need to base of laravel/laravel and include laravel/framework.
Hope this clears up some confusing and can get you on the right track. Secondly you shouldn't port it over, but simply cloning your project and running composer install should be sufficient.
The problem turned out to be two issues.
1. The wrong version of PHP was running. If I ssh'ed into the hostgator server and did
php -v
It showed PHP 5.6.30 even though I had selected Php 7.1 in the cPanel PHP Selector. If I did
tekknow.net/phpinfo.php
it would say I was using 7.1. Called up HostGator tech support and they were able to change it to PHP 7.3.13.
Now if I do:
php artisan clear cache
I no longer get the error about
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?' in
/home1/sl1k7f3j/public_html/medaverter/bootstrap/app.php on line 15
which was an error caused by a version of php that doesn't support the ?? operator.
The second problem was a lack of memory issue. If I did
composer update
It would start to work but would fail in about 30 seconds with
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 709623808) (tried to allocate
34187559 bytes) in
phar:///opt/cpanel/composer/bin/composer/src/Composer/Json/JsonFile.php
on line 270
The HostGator tech rep could not figure out why that was happening but I got around that issue by manually uploading my local vendor folder to the host server.
Now when I go to http://tekknow.net/medaverter/ it works!
I'm not able to download lavarvel installer using composer 1.2.0 (latest version)
The error received: Failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!
I googled and could not find the answer to fix this to problem.
If possible, someone please try to run this command composer global require "laravel/installer" to check if it works? I think the link to packaglist is no longer valid but I'm not sure.

You are running composer with xdebug enabled. This has a major impact on runtime performance. See https://getcomposer.org/xdebug
Downloading https://getcomposer.org/versions
You are already using composer version 1.2.0 (stable channel).
Two ways of laravel install(normally i follow step 1)
step 1.
download zip file from github https://github.com/laravel/laravel
and unzip and put it on wamp/www(where you normally put your project)
wamp>www>folderproject>shift+right click>open command window
here> write on composer composer install
step 2.
go to wamp>www>hold shift and click right mouse ->open command window here->paste composer create-project laravel/laravel in command prompt
then go to laravel project then shift+ right click ,open command window here>write php artisan serve
Config Laravel
• after install laravel then goes to wamp>www>laravelproject
• copy from here .env.example ,and paste it here then .env - Copy.example will create,
• then open sublime ,go to .env - Copy.example file right click and rename to .env and enter
• then goes to wamp>www>laravelproject ,shift+right click ,write php artisan key:generate in command promt
I figured it out this morning. The problem was Kaspersky Internet Security blocked the connection between my PC and packagist.org . I am surprised that it never happened to anyone but me.
*** Solution:
- Disable your antivirus for a momment and run the command installing Laravel.
Thank you all.
Hey i guess you using php 5.5 first upgrade your php version then install use
composer global require "laravel/installer"
if you don't want upgrade your php then
use
composer global require "laravel/installer=~1.1"
I believe your problem is that the config.json-file for Composer has ""packagist": false" inside the file. Try opening the file and changing to : true"
Or run,
cd ~/.composer/vendor/bin
Then
composer global require "laravel/installer"
you can easily first disable your antivirus , then check your version of php that you are using make sure that it is above PHP VERSION 5.5 then open your terminal or cmd then go to directory of composer then paste `composer global require "laravel/installer"
Hello. Please I am new to the php slim framework. I have tried all day to download and install slim 3 through composer but haven't been successful.
Am using a windows pc. I used command prompt and downloaded composer and installed composer to the desired directory. However, when i try installing slim 3, I get an error : "installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content"
[Command Prompt Error Message][Command prompt error message]
you have to load the direction page of slim frame work using this link:
https://www.slimframework.com/docs/start/installation.html
and there will be a command like this - composer require slim/slim "^3.0"
instead of using this one you have to use this...
php composer.phar require slim/slim "^3.0"
and you will get slim installed
Kick-start Slim 3 projects using a skeleton!
With Composer installed, use the cmd line to access the C:\xampp\htdocs folder, then write this command:
$ php create-project slim/slim-skeleton [my-app-name]
Command will produce composer.json and composer.lock files along with a public/ folder that can all be committed to VCS (do not commit any other folders/dependencies).
Make sure you have high enough version of PHP, and PHP is in your PATH. To check this - print "php -v " in command line (you can pretty sure run up to PHP7).
Make sure you are in the right directory for your project.
Provide complete command line output, there could be things you didn't know to be important for a good answer.
After all, you can delete composer.json and composer.lock from the directory, and try again.
I use windows with XAMPP to run a virtual apache server.
After many similar issues, I downloaded git-bash and used it instead of the windows cmd.
give it a try, and see if that can resolve your issues.

I am trying to install Symfony on CentOS Linux wih PHP 5.6 and cPanel installed.
When I run composer require symfony/assetic-bundle , once adding bundle to the AppKernelphp, symfony (app/console too) stops working and keeps logging this error:
[10-Jun-2016 22:00:57 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Class 'Symfony\Bundle\AsseticBundle\AsseticBundle' not found in /home/avid24/public_html/app/AppKernel.php on line 19
After checking the vendor directory, turns out that composer has downloaded a single compressed file with a random name, I could extract it with unzip. but problem still exists!
This environment works properly on windows and I could easily update symfony and its components using composer.
Any help? Anyone with the same experience ?
Well, I eventually figured out the problem!
I enabled suhosin extension which prevents the composer and other similar command prompt php scripts from a proper execution.
As a temporary solution I copied php.ini and disabled unnecessary extensions and put it next to my project and call composer this way
$php -c ../composer-php.ini ~/composer ......
I'll create a script to make the life easier
I didn't find any resource which describes coexistence of composer and suhosin extension, so I'm not sure if this is the ultimate solution but the root cause is identified.
If anybody makes workaround this subject I'd be more than happy to know about it.
I am new to Laravel, I have installed the Laravel on my localhost using
WAMP server but I am getting an error after all steps.
The errors are:
( ! ) Warning: require(C:\wamp\www\laravel/../bootstrap/autoload.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\wamp\www\laravel\index.php on line 21
( ! ) Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required 'C:\wamp\www\laravel/../bootstrap/autoload.php' (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') in C:\wamp\www\laravel\index.php on line 21
I have used below link for Laravel installation
http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Laravel-Framework-in-Windows
I have tried to debug the issue but haven't found success in the installation.
Please let me know what is missing in installation.
You need to install Composer, open up the command prompt and cd to your directory (or hold Shift while right-clicking on your directory and clicking Open command window here) and there run composer install.
You can simplify the Laravel installation with Composers create-project command.
composer create-project laravel/laravel path
Laravel dependencies are not installed yet. That is why it is giving you this error.
https://getcomposer.org/download/
Go to this link and download composer if you haven't already.
Move the composer file to /usr/bin and rename it to just composer.
Go into the root directory of your laravel application. And run:
composer update
This will install and update all required dependencies.
In case you are on windows, which is less likely, but if you are, just download and install composer via the installer and issue the same command in you project's root directory.
Composer is PHP's dependency manager.
In the root directory of your laravel installation you will find a composer.json file. It contains the list of all your project's dependencies. If you ever need to install a package in your project, it becomes very easy. You just have to edit the composer.json file and let it know which package you need. Issuing composer update will install new package listings and update all existing ones.
just to be clear I'm not big fan of wamp.
I've just took quick look at the
http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Laravel-Framework-in-Windows
and I suppose laravel framework is not going to work best with point 11 to 14 modifications.
Baseline for laravel to work is you need to http serve /public folder in a properly configured environment (after composer install and create-project as described earlier).
If you want to take full advantage of laravel you need to often cli `php or composer (at least)` efficiently.
While using laravel I suggest installing PHP and MYSQL yourself from scratch (it really takes few minutes) and using convenient IDE (like PHPSTORM for example).
Nowadays PHP has builtin http server, so you don't need any http server in your dev environment.
So in Windows:
Install PHP and enable required libraries in php.ini
Install and configure local mysql server (easiest way installing via MySQL installer)
Start development server by invoking php.exe -S localhost:80 -t "absolute-path-to-your-laravel-installation\public" like for example C:\htdocs\laravel\public via commandLine
Enter url in your favorite browser http://localhost
Hope that will help to get you started.
