please help me,
i have query:
SELECT * from (select * from products ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 20) AS result ORDER BY discount DESC LIMIT 14
so, how to convert into query builder in laravel 5.
tks!
Using the query builder and importing (use) DB, allows you to build and fetch the result you want.
use DB;
$result = DB::table(
DB::raw("(" .
DB::table('products')
->select('*')
->orderBy('id', 'desc')
->limit(20)
->toSql()
. ") as result"
)
)
->select('*')
->orderBy('discount', 'desc')
->limit(14)
->get();
table() selects the table you want to query. In this case we are building up a separate SQL statement to fetch the table.
select() the columns you would like to see.
orderBy($column, $direction) where $column is the name of the column you would like to order and $direction is the order, desc or asc.
limit($limit) only return $limit items to the result set.
toSql() returns the current QueryBuilder SQL statement as a string.
get() returns the data in a Collection.
Also added in the missing discount ordering.
Try something like:
Products::orderBy('id', 'desc')->take(20)->orderBy('discount', 'desc')->take(14)->get();

How can I select, preferably using eloquent laravel's query builder, the latest distinct records from a table.
I have tried this query without success.
Products::where('depart_id', $depart_id)
->distinct("serial_number")
->latest()
->where('serial_number', ""); // get one of the distinct products
You can try this: distinct() will get the distinct 'serial_number'
Products::where('depart_id', $depart_id)
->where('serial_number', "")
->distinct();
The solution was to use
Products::where('depart_id', $depart_id)
->distinct('serial_number')
->orderBy('serial_number', 'desc')
->orderBy('created_at', 'desc')
->where('serial_number', "serial_number");
This ensured that the distinct returned only the unique latest record of each value.
I use laravel 5.3
My sql query is like this :
SELECT *
FROM (
SELECT *
FROM products
WHERE `status` = 1 AND `stock` > 0 AND category_id = 5
ORDER BY updated_at DESC
LIMIT 4
) AS product
GROUP BY store_id
I want to change it to be laravel eloquent
But I'm still confused
How can I do it?
In cases when your query is to complex you can laravel RAW query syntax like:
$data = DB::select(DB::raw('your query here'));
It will fire your raw query on the specified table and returns the result set, if any.
Reference
If you have Product model, you can run
$products = Product::where('status', 1)
->where('stock', '>', 0)
->where('category_id', '=', 5)
->groupBy('store_id')
->orderBy('updated_at', 'desc')
->take(4)
->get();
I think this should give you the same result since you pull everything from your derived table.
Good morning,
I've been trying for quite a lot of time to translate this query(which returns an array of stdClass) into query builder so I could get objects back as Eloquent models.
This is how the query looks like untranslated:
$anketa = DB::select( DB::raw("SELECT *
FROM v_anketa a
WHERE not exists (select 1 from user_poeni where anketa_id=a.id and user_id = :lv_id_user)
Order by redni_broj limit 1"
), array( 'lv_id_user' => $id_user,
));
I have tried this, but it gives a syntax error near the inner from in the subquery:
$anketa = V_anketa::selectRaw("WHERE not exists (select 1 from user_poeni where anketa_id=a.id and user_id = :lv_id_user)", array('lv_id_user' => $id_user,)
)->orderBy('redni_broj')->take(1)->first();
The problem is this exists and a subquery in it. I couldn't find anything regarding this special case.
Assume each table has an appropriate Eloquent model.
V_anketa is a view. The db is postgresql.
As far as the query goes I believe this should work:
$anketa = V_anketa::whereNotExists(function ($query) use ($id_user) {
$query->select(DB::raw(1))
->from('user_poeni')
->where('anketa.id', '=', 'a.id')
->where('user_id', '=', $id_user);
})
->orderBy('redni_broj')
->first();
but I'm not clear on what do you mean by "assuming every table has an Eloquent model" and "V_anketa" is a view...
Assuming the SQL query is correct, this should work:
$anketa = DB::select(sprintf('SELECT * FROM v_anketa a WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM user_poeni WHERE anketa_id = a.id AND user_id = %s) ORDER BY redni_broj LIMIT 1', $id_user));
If you want to get back an Builder instance you need to specify the table:
$anketa = DB::table('')->select('');
If you however, want to get an Eloquent Model instance, for example to use relations, you need to use Eloquent.
I'm new to laravel and I have some issues with the query builder.
The query I would like to build is this one:
SELECT SUM(transactions.amount)
FROM transactions
JOIN categories
ON transactions.category_id == categories.id
WHERE categories.kind == "1"
I tried building this but it isn't working and I can't figure out where I am wrong.
$purchases = DB::table('transactions')->sum('transactions.amount')
->join('categories', 'transactions.category_id', '=', 'categories.id')
->where('categories.kind', '=', 1)
->select('transactions.amount')
->get();
I would like to get all the transactions that have the attribute "kind" equal to 1 and save it in a variable.
Here's the db structure:
transactions(id, name, amount, category_id)
categories(id, name, kind)
You don't need to use select() or get() when using the aggregate method as sum:
$purchases = DB::table('transactions')
->join('categories', 'transactions.category_id', '=', 'categories.id')
->where('categories.kind', '=', 1)
->sum('transactions.amount');

If one needs to select SUM of a column along with a normal selection of other columns, you can sum select that column using DB::raw method:
DB::table('table_name')
->select('column_str_1', 'column_str_2', DB::raw('SUM(column_int_1) AS sum_of_1'))
->get();
You can get some of any column in Laravel query builder/Eloquent as below.
$data=Model::where('user_id','=',$id)->sum('movement');
return $data;
You may add any condition to your record.
Thanks
MyModel::where('user_id', $_some_id)->sum('amount')
I want to run this mysql query in Laravel 5 using the DB query :
// SELECT *, rating/number as total FROM `courses` order by total DESC;
This is what I tried :
$query = \DB::table('courses')->select('*');
$courses = $query->addSelect('rating/number as total')
->orderBY('total DESC')
->get();
but, rating/number is considered as a table column . The same thing happens when I tried it inside parenthesis (rating/number).
Any help?
$courses = \DB::table('courses')
->selectRaw('*, rating/number as total')
->orderBY('total', 'DESC')
->get();
Can you use Raw Expressions for it? Maybe something like this:
$courses = \DB::table('courses')
->select(DB::raw('*, (rating / number) as total'))
->orderBy('total DESC')
->get();
