Hi I'm coming for a very simple question (I think) but i didn't found the answer or a similar case.
I'm using symfony 3 and trying to build a second menu for my administration pannel.
However, I have a problem about how I have to declare the relative url in my "href", For my main menu i used to do like this
{{ url ( 'admin' ) }}
and it worked. The fact is that now I have subfolders and many levels in my url.
The url i try to reach is myapp/admin/gameadmin, this url work when I'm going on it but when i try to put it in 'href' I have an error message which says that the route is not working.
i declared it like that ->
{{ url(admin/gameadmin) }}
I tried with different character -> admin:gameadmin, admin\gameadmin ... etc and with path instead of url i don't know if it's not the good way to declare it or if I have a problem with my controllers.
In my bundle it's organised like that :
->Controllers(folder)
->admin(folder) (You can also find my main controllers on this level)
->admingamecontroller (Where the page I try to reach is routed)
I hope i gave you all the informations, thank you for your help and sorry for my english !
The url parameter is not the the url per se (ie: admin/gameadmin), this is the route name, defined in your routing.yaml file, or in your controller annotation.
If your action is something like this:
/**
* #Route("/admin/gameadmin", name="gameadmin")
*/
public function gameAdminAction()
{
...
}
Then, to generate the route, you have to do this:
{{ url('gameadmin') }}
By doing this, all the links on your website will be up to date if you change the gameadmin url, as long as you don't change the route name.
I suggest you to read this documentation on the Symfony website: https://symfony.com/doc/current/bundles/SensioFrameworkExtraBundle/annotations/routing.html
Edit: As pointed by user254319, if you're not using annotations, you'll have to edit your routing.yaml config file.
gameadmin:
path: /admin/gameadmin
controller: App\Controller\Admin\AdminGameController::gameadminAction
The route name is the yaml key: gameadmin.

Hi I have a hyperlink from a page:
<h3>hitest</h3>
the route:
Route::get('hitest', function(){ return 'hitest message';});
There is an error:
No query results for model [App\User2].
hyper link is from a page with this url
/userpage/1
the 1 is a model object.
Shouldn't the hyperlink route to /hitest ?
Please see my other post: Strange behavior with routing and hypertext.
I'm new at web development. Is there configurations for routing? The app is hosted (not local).
As bytesarelife already mentioned, you can use the url()-function, like so:
{{ url('your/url/') }}
A better way in terms of maintainability would be to give your routes names, so you would not have to replace every url in every template once you want to change it. You can do so, by adding the name in your routes:
Route::get('hitest', function(){ return 'hitest message';})->name('getHittest');
And then you can use the route function in your view:
{{ route('getHittest') }}
Apologies in advance if this is a noob question
I have a delete function in Laravel, I am having problems with the route and returning variables I need when the website is hosted externally.
I currently have the URL coded like this
Delete</td>
I would like this url to be dynamic. I have tried the public_path() function but have had no prevail.
Delete</td>
Thanks
You should use the routing system to generate urls ,and not create them by hand, it's quite easy:
http://laravel.com/docs/routing
the concept is simple:
1) create a route in the routes.php file
2) use it with the route() helper
edit:
to use a route and let LARAVEL generate the correct url , you simply have to do something similar to this (supposing that you are using blade):
Delete
You can use url() for example, like this:
Delete
You can also call link helpers:
{{ link_to('safesign_doc_delete/'.$file.'/'.$sector_name.'/'.$selected_sector, 'Delete') }}
url() is the default helper function get your hosting url which is found in the app.php under 'url' => 'http://localhost' (or other)
This will solve your URL problem
NOTE
if you are worried about changing it when it goes to production don't worry.
Laravel gives you folder options where you can have LOCAL as a folder with localhost as your url and then the main app.php file can be your production settings.
Being new to Cake on PHP, I am trying to work out if I have a URL, what would be the easiest way to find the controller code for it?
The URL on my local machine is something like:
http://foofoofoo.local/protected/admin/org/edit/1
I have worked out that the location of the view for this file is at this location on my machine:
/var/www/MyApp/protected/app/views/org/admin_edit.ctp
I thought what I'd do is do a search throughout the entire codebase for anything referencing admin_edit.ctp. I found two entries, and changed them to see if I had found the point where the view is called, but despite changing the file name on these entries - the app still works when I visit the URL: http://foofoofoo.local/protected/admin/org/edit/1
I just want to see where the admin_edit.ctp file is being called within the site.
URL: http://foofoofoo.local/protected/admin/org/edit/1
This means I can assume you have a added a route in your /app/Config/routes.php. Where this is pointing can not be said since we don't have access to this file.
Why can I assume you have added this to your routes? Because the posted URL is not matching the CakePHP Conventions which clearly states that controllers should be defined in plural. Since the URL will be accessing the Controller directly through the Controller, unless a route has been specified, I know that the OrgController does not exist. Why?
Try Inflector::pluralize('Org'). It will return 'Orgs' to you. And thus meaning the controller should be called OrgsController and you should be accessing this Controller via the following URL.
http://foofoofoo.local/protected/admin/orgs/edit/1
In this OrgsController there should be an action (function) called admin_edit(), because you have prepended the org with Admin, which is a prefix.
It can be possible that the /protected part, is part of the URL as well, but do not know where your main /App is located and what part of the URL is pointing to the /app/webroot/index.php file.
The Views can be found at /app/View/Orgs/*.ctp.
If you are still having trouble finding your files. Please start with the Blog tutorial written by the Cake Community. This tutorial describes all the neat built-in tricks and will get your first app running in no-time. Please read that first!
If you are still having trouble, feel free to update your question and add the /app/Config/routes.php file.
Under Cake 1.3, if your application has an AppController (check if the file app/app_controller.php exists), you can put this code in the beforeFilter method:
debug($this->params);
It will print an array on your app pages when you are in debug mode, with the name of the controller and the action used.
Array
(
...
[controller] => controller_name
[action] => action_name
...
)
If the AppController does not contain any beforeFilter method, you can just create it:
function beforeFilter()
{
debug($this->params);
}
I think this is a route issue but I'm not sure. I have a page with this URL:
siteurl.com/kowmanger/titles/titles/edit/$id
I'm trying to find out that when I'm on this page I load the titles page it says page not found so I need to tell it that the $id is just a paramter so I can use it to get the data of the title.
UPDATE :
So I decided to change my titles controller so that there's a edit and add function inside of the titles controller that way they dont' have separate controllers when they are in fact methods.
So now I have:
kansasoutalwwrestling.com/kowmanager/titles/titles - list of titles
kansasoutalwwrestling.com/kowmanager/titles/titles/add - addnew form
kansasoutalwwrestling.com/kowmanager/titles/titles/edit/$id - edit form
I don't have any routes set up so far for this. For some reason though I"m getting the same page for both of these page.
kansasoutalwwrestling.com/kowmanager/titles/titles/add - addnew form
(right link url) kansasoutalwwrestling.com/kowmanager/titles/add -
addnew form
I need a route so that it'll show the correct url if the add method is accessed.
Also I need to set up a route so that if the correct edit link is accessed it sees the id attached to the end of the url and it'll accept it so that I can do a my database query to get the title data.
UPDATE: So to reiterate I have a module(subfolder) called titles. Inside of the module I have a controller called titles and inside of that controller I have 3 functions called index(), add(), edit().
I tried using Chris's suggestion on the routes but its not routing correctly. Also wanted to mention I'm using wiredesignz modular separation framework if that matters.
Any additional ideas?
Possible answer based on your post, not one hundred percent your entire structure but if i had to guess based off the post I would try this as my routes first..
$route['titles/titles/edit/(:any)'] = 'titles/titles/edit/$1';
$route['titles/titles/add'] = 'titles/titles/add';
$route['titles/titles'] = 'titles/titles';
$route['titles'] = 'titles/index';
Are you using custom routing in your configuration files ?
The general routing protocol used by codeigniter is like this:
domain.com/controller/methode/param1/param2/param3
This being said, your url
siteurl.com/kowmanger/titles/titles/edit/$id
corresponds to something like this :
class Kownmanger extends CI_Controller
{
public function titles($titles, $action, $id)
{
}
}
In case you are using sub-folders in your controllers folder, what I have just said will change, Could you please tell us what's your directory structure ?
in my current project ive a controller tree like this:
Controller -
------Admin -
------------user.php
------otherClass.php
Where controller and admin are folder and user and otherClass are the classes.
If i want to call any otherClass method the url would be this one:
example.com/otherClass
But when i try to call the users methods like this:
example.com/admin/user
i get this : Class controller_admin does not exist (whats logical), so i tried with the routs in the bootstrap.php and after many failed tries, i gave up and decided to ask you guys :P .
The question is how should i code the route::set to make this work.
Thanks
First thing is that you must set 'index_file' key to FALSE in bootstrap (when Kohana::init() is being called).
Leave the default route as it is ( it's controller/action/id, with controller and action being 'index' by default).
