I am having difficulty trying to get modernizer to run with codeigniter.
this is what I've done so far.
downloaded Modernizr and renamed the file modernizr-1.5.min.txt to modernizr-1.5.min.js
put the JavaScript file in the same directory as my header file is: apppath/views/tops/
included the file in my headings <script src="modernizr-1.5.min.js"></script>
included this in my HTML element <html class="no-js">
just to preserve my sanity I put the JavaScript file modernizr-1.5.min.js in my views directory and in the application directory.
I am getting absolutely zero response when I read my page source to see if the has been replaced with the elements that my browser covers the wave modernizr is supposed to work. I have tried this using Firefox and chrome as far as reading the source.
any suggestions? Thank you in advance
why would you put javascript files ito the view folder of your app? i would rather use this path "/media/javascripts/modernizr.js" and then <script src="/media/javascripts/modernizr.js"></script> link it like that. the view folder is only for templates. other thing is that you will never see the changes that javascript does to your page in the pagesource. because it only shows you what html the browser received. and javascript starts to work after the browser received the html. you need to install firebug to see the "live" dom.

I am working with a website and have the following situation:
The Bootstrap Carousel works fine when the file index.php in on the root, however, if I rename the same php file and move it into a folder, the carousel freezes.
Please inspect the url. The one that works is http://webstudiopr.com/tertuleoPHP/index.php
The one that freezes is http://webstudiopr.com/tertuleoPHP/politica/politica-puerto-rico.php
Any idea on how to fix it?
Thanks
PJ
Check all your relative paths -- assuming that you haven't moved all your files, for example:
Instead of:
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
Use:
<script src="../js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
Add to your head this tag:
<base href="http://webstudiopr.com/tertuleoPHP/">
It will set a base source for all absolute paths on the page - making bootstrap.js loaded from
http://webstudiopr.com/tertuleoPHP/js/bootstrap.min.js
Instead of
http://webstudiopr.com/tertuleoPHP/politica/js/bootstrap.min.js
For more information about the base tag: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_base_href.asp
On a side note: Take a look at the source of your website - It's completely invalid (You put meta tags inside the body, and then closing the head after the opening body tag. Fix it too.
I downloaded a Template + CSS File for a Website that I'm Building, the template worked well until I tried to break it down and put every code in its own file (for easy modification and editing in the future).
So, when I cut the head part which included (Title + Meta Data .. etc ), and put it in its own file, and replaced it (for sure) with an include() function, I lost the CSS styles and returned to the basic & standard style (Black & white with no extra format .. etc)
Where did I Go wrong? Knowing that here is the include function that I've used:
<?php
include 'files/head.php';
?>
With an URL like file:///C:/xampp/htdocs/test6/index.php PHP is NOT executed. You must run it with apache being involved. Currently you are opening your PHP script as a regular txt or html file - it is just passed to browser without processing.
In order to make include function work you must run it with apache. As you are using xamp, I think you should simply open it with URL like http://localhost/test6/index.php In this case, apache will get that request and pass it to PHP. PHP engine will interpret your PHP script and "replace" include files/head.php with a content of head.php.
If everything is Ok, after pressing Ctrl+U (or looking at HTML with Developer Tools or Firebug) you should see a content of head.php instead of <?php include ....
Please note that css files should be linked with relative URL like css/screen.css. Or absolute URL like http://localhost/test6/css/screen.css. like Search for relative and absolute URLs in google for more info.
If you visit this page in Chrome:
http://www.immigrationconsult.org/contact.php
And Inspect Element on the page, go to Console you will see this error:
GET htt...cms/contact/images/ajax-loader.gif 404 (Not Found) jquery.min.js:4
I followed the instructions here to create a:
http://css-tricks.com/weird-file-requests-and-easing-server-stress-with-htaccess/
I tested to make sure it works, and it does, but not on this specific request. jquery.min.js is the jQuery minified from the makers, I did not change it at all. I used Agent Ransack to deep search for any reference of this in any of my files, the search yielded no results.
I have no idea what to do or how to prevent this issue from happening, this seems like such a small issue, but I can not locate the cause of the problem! Please help.
So, it was really a misdirection by Chrome. The plugin at fault was jQuery Coda-Slider. Because it was JS compressed, Agent Ransack couldn't find the string... lesson learned...
You clearly don't have the ajax-loader.gif file in the correct directory, or at least your ajax script is looking the wrong place.
you can either modify the java script to point to the right location or you can just put the file in the correct location, i would choose the latter.
I have had these errors my self with JQuery, where some icons didn't get loaded, just had to put them in the correct folder and it worked.
But if you use googles jquery libs, all resources should get loaded automagic as well. Like this...
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://www.google.com/jsapi">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
google.load("jquery", "1.7.2");
google.load(etc..);
</script>
You need to download the entire zip file from their website: http://jquerymobile.com/download/. After you unzip it, you will find the js file, the CSS and a folder called "images", all of which need to be present locally.
i wrote like this as follow in a php file (for example: a.php)
<script src="scripts/a.js"></script>
<div>
.....
</div>
I can guarantee that the path of js file is right, because i can see the js content in firebug HTML-view. However, in Script-view there isn't a.js. It seems that a.js has been added into the html but can't be loaded, but some other js files can be recognized. And if I paste the js content directly in the DOM, it works.
I'd like to know when doesn't work and why? thanks a lot~
Answer: There's some serious syntax errors in my js file. The error may be too serious for the browser to recognize it...
I can't give you a positive answer as there's very little details, but you should use an absolute path to your JavaScript.
<script src="/scripts/a.js"></script>
I've searched the entire web for a clear answer but haven't found one yet.
I have this site:
www.helixagent.com/todo/
and I want to load that entire site into a portlet in my main index page.
I tried an iFrame approach but it fails to load the site correctly. The styles and javascript files don't get loaded (i think)
Is there a way to make a portal that mimics a new browser page and load the content exactly as it would if it was directly accessed via the url bar?
It’s possible to perform cross-domain requests using jQuery.
Simply include this file after loading jQuery, and then you can do funky stuff like:
$('html').load('http://helixagent.com/todo/');
Note that this of course won’t load the embedded CSS and JS files. You’ll need to use an iframe for that:
$(function() {
$('body').append('<iframe src="http://www.helixagent.com/todo/" />');
});
Live example: http://jsbin.com/uruka
Here's an example using jQuery and iframe:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#somediv').html("<iframe src='http://www.helixagent.com/todo/'></iframe>");
});
This should be placed inside the <head> tag of your page and it will load the entire site with all the js and css too into a div.
Have you looked at using Server Side Includes.
