Given that I have $num_years, how can I add it to Time() to get a time stamp $num_years hence?
strtotime("+$num_years years") will give you a timestamp $num_years years in the future.
try
echo strtotime("now + $num_years years");
Is this what you're after?
$num_years = 5;
$future = strtotime("+{$num_years} years");
echo strftime('%Y %a %d %m, %T', strtotime('+' . $num_years . ' years') );
Change strfttime format according your needs.
Check out strtotime man page http://php.net/manual/en/function.strtotime.php
Well if you looking for the timestamp for just that time then use mktime
mktime(0,0,0,0,0,$noOfYears);
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mktime.php
is this what you want ?
//Example to add 1 year to a date object
$num_years = 1;
$currentDate = date("Y-m-d");// current date
//Display the current date
echo "Current Date: ".$currentDate."<br>";
//Add one year to current date
$dateOneYearAdded = strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($currentDate)) . " +$num_years years");
echo "Date After adding one year: ".date('l dS \o\f F Y', $dateOneYearAdded)."<br>";

I'm trying to get a date that is one year from the date I specify.
My code looks like this:
$futureDate=date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+one year', $startDate));
It's returning the wrong date. Any ideas why?
$futureDate=date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+1 year'));
$futureDate is one year from now!
$futureDate=date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+1 year', strtotime($startDate)) );
$futureDate is one year from $startDate!
To add one year to todays date use the following:
$oneYearOn = date('Y-m-d',strtotime(date("Y-m-d", mktime()) . " + 365 day"));
For the other examples you must initialize $StartingDate with a timestamp value
for example:
$StartingDate = mktime(); // todays date as a timestamp
Try this
$newEndingDate = date("Y-m-d", strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($StaringDate)) . " + 365 day"));
or
$newEndingDate = date("Y-m-d", strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($StaringDate)) . " + 1 year"));
//1 year from today's date
echo date('d-m-Y', strtotime('+1 year'));
//1 year from from specific date
echo date('22-09-Y', strtotime('+1 year'));
hope this simpler bit of code helps someone in future :)
Try: $futureDate=date('Y-m-d',strtotime('+1 year',$startDate));
just had the same problem, however this was the simplest solution:
<?php (date('Y')+1).date('-m-d'); ?>
// Declare a variable for this year
$this_year = date("Y");
// Add 1 to the variable
$next_year = $this_year + 1;
$year_after = $this_year + 2;
// Check your code
echo "This year is ";
echo $this_year;
echo "<br />";
echo "Next year is ";
echo $next_year;
echo "<br />";
echo "The year after that is ";
echo $year_after;
I prefer the OO approach:
$date = new \DateTimeImmutable('today'); //'today' gives midnight, leave blank for current time.
$futureDate = $date->add(\DateInterval::createFromDateString('+1 Year'))
Use DateTimeImmutable otherwise you will modify the original date too!
more on DateTimeImmutable: http://php.net/manual/en/class.datetimeimmutable.php
If you just want from todays date then you can always do:
new \DateTimeImmutable('-1 Month');
If you are using PHP 5.3, it is because you need to set the default time zone:
date_default_timezone_set()
strtotime() is returning bool(false), because it can't parse the string '+one year' (it doesn't understand "one"). false is then being implicitly cast to the integer timestamp 0. It's a good idea to verify strtotime()'s output isn't bool(false) before you go shoving it in other functions.
From the docs:
Return Values
Returns a timestamp on success, FALSE
otherwise. Previous to PHP 5.1.0, this
function would return -1 on failure.
Try This
$nextyear = date("M d,Y",mktime(0, 0, 0, date("m",strtotime($startDate)), date("d",strtotime($startDate)), date("Y",strtotime($startDate))+1));
There is also a simpler and less sophisticated solution:
$monthDay = date('m/d');
$year = date('Y')+1;
$oneYearFuture = "".$monthDay."/".$year."";
echo"The date one year in the future is: ".$oneYearFuture."";
You can use strtotime() to get future time.
//strtotime('+1 day');
//strtotime('+1 week');
//strtotime('+1 month');
$now = date('Y-m-d');
$oneYearLaterFromNow = date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+1 year'));
$oneYearLaterFromAnyDate = date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+1 year', strtotime($anyValidDateString)));
In my case (i want to add 3 years to current date) the solution was:
$future_date = date('Y-m-d', strtotime("now + 3 years"));
To Gardenee, Treby and Daniel Lima:
what will happen with 29th February? Sometimes February has only 28 days :)
My solution is: date('Y-m-d', time()-60*60*24*365);
You can make it more "readable" with defines:
define('ONE_SECOND', 1);
define('ONE_MINUTE', 60 * ONE_SECOND);
define('ONE_HOUR', 60 * ONE_MINUTE);
define('ONE_DAY', 24 * ONE_HOUR);
define('ONE_YEAR', 365 * ONE_DAY);
date('Y-m-d', time()-ONE_YEAR);
I want to find the next occurrence of date from the current date.
For example, imagine I want to find 20th of the month from current date
If current date is 10th october then return the result 2014-10-20 (Y-m-d)
If current date is 22nd october then return the result 2014-11-20 (Y-m-d)
I created a solution just now using a while loop.
$oldd= "2014-06-20";
$newdate = date("Y-m-d",strtotime($oldd."+1months"));
while(strtotime($newdate) <= strtotime(date("Y-m-d")))
{
$newdate = date("Y-m-d",strtotime($newdate."+1months"));
}
echo $newdate;
manually and pass that to strtotime(). The time information you need to extract from the reference time string. Like this:
$refdate = '2014-02-25 10:30:00';
$timestamp = strtotime($refdate);
echo date('Y-m-d H:i:s',
strtotime("next Thursday " . date('H:i:s', $timestamp), $timestamp)
);
same results could be achieved using string concatenation:
echo date('Y-m-d', strtotime("next Thursday", $timestamp)
. ' ' . date('H:i:s', $timestamp);
another way, you can use methods of DateTime object, PHP has really rich API in dealing with date time.
$current_date = new DateTime('2014-06-20');
if ($current_date->format('d') >= 20) {
// $current_date->modify('last day of this month')->modify("+20 days");
$current_date->modify('first day of next month')->modify("+19 days");
}else{
$current_date->modify('first day of this month')->modify("+19 days");
}
echo $current_date->format("Y-m-d");
http://php.net/manual/en/datetime.modify.php
http://php.net/manual/en/datetime.formats.relative.php
I know that date("Y"), date("m") and date("d") will return current Year (2013), Month (07) and Date (11) respectively.
I am working with date Format: "2013-07-11". I have current date like this. Now I want to get the value "2013-06-11" and "2013-08-11" somehow using PHP.
What might be the code to get this values (Last Month's Same Date, and Next Month's Same Date)?
I tried:
$LastMonth = date ("m") - 1;
$LastDate = date("Y") . "-0" . $LastMonth . "-" . date("d");
But this will return error when it is October. In October it will show "2013-010-11".
What can be a better solution? Can anyone help me?
Use it with PHP's strtotime():
echo date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+1 month')); //outputs 2013-08-11
echo date('Y-m-d', strtotime('-1 month')); //outputs 2013-06-11
$date = new DateTime( "2013-07-11");
$date->modify("+1 month");
echo $date->format(‘l, F jS, Y’);
Try this
$lst_month=mktime(0,0,0,date('m')-1,date('d'),date('Y'));
echo "M<br>". date("Y-m-d",$lst_month);
$next_month=mktime(0,0,0,date('m')+1,date('d'),date('Y'));
echo "M<br>". date("Y-m-d",$next_month);
$nextmonth=date("dmy",strtotime("+1 month"));
$lastmonth=date("dmy",strtotime("-1 month"));
all
Decrease month by one in strtotime in this loop.
$twitter_val7 .='{
date: new Date('.date("Y",strtotime($date)).', '.date("m",strtotime($date)).', '.date("d",strtotime($date)).'),
value: '.$result_twitter->counts.'
},';
To decrease by 1 month using strtotime() you literally tell it to decrease by one month:
strtotime($date . ' - 1 month');
Assuming, of course, that $date is a format strtotime() understands.
I would do it like this .. i guess $date would go in place of '2000-01-01':
$initial = new DateTime('2000-01-01');
$interval = new DateInterval('P1M');
$newdate = $initial->sub( $interval );
echo $newdate->format('Y-m-d H:i:s');
To decrease month by using strtotime
$date='2014-09-03';
$numMonth=1;//here you can pass no. of month
$resultDate=date('Y-m-d',strtotime($date . " - $numMonth month"));
How can I find the next day's date after a given date.
For example, I have a date 2011-11-31. How can I get the next date (2011-12-01) using PHP?
Similarly, how would I get the previous day's date?
$nextdate = date("Y-m-d",strtotime($olddate." +1 day"));
You can use the strtotime() function in php:
$date="2011-11-11";
$nextdate = date('Y-m-d', strtotime($date . " +1 day"));
echo $nextdate;
It will echo as "2011-11-12".
Similarly to find the previous date use:
$nextdate = date('Y-m-d', strtotime($date . " -1 day"));
It will echo as "2011-11-10".
