Currently working with ZF and ZendX_JQuery.
As I understand, script links to Google's CDN JQuery are only included in the <head> section of a view if ZF JQuery is referenced in some way in the MVC.
However, I'm working with 'Cloud Zoom', a JQuery library for image zooming.
The view I wish to include Cloud Zoom in has no reference to JQuery, and therefore the script links are not included in the head. How can I make ZF include the script links in the head section of the page without explicitly including any ZF JQuery references in the MVC?

To access the javascript we have to
utilize the jQuery() functionality.
Both helpers already activated their
dependencies that is they have called
jQuery()->enable() and
jQuery()->uiEnable()

so i guess you have to do something like $this->jQuery()->enable()->enableui()

I have built a customized php framework.
I have a view, controllers and model.
In the view, there is variable which i can set.
$js = array('custom/testimonial.js','jquery.js');
At the footer view i have the following code.

Basically, the code in footer will load all the necessary scripts required for that page. In my other pages, i have other(different) javascripts files to include. This mean thats each page will have different javascript.
I would like to minify the js for each of the page and wonder which is the best way. I tried using Assetic (php asset management) with no luck.
Another question is should i minify javascript on the fly? Means when i load my page called testimonial.php it will check what are the javascript required for the page and minify them before displaying. Will that post performance issues even if i cache it.
I am looking for some methods that has high maintainability as i do not have to minifiy all javascript manually, have 40 to 50 plus pages. (each page uses different javascript files, plugins, lib).
Can Assetic do the job for me? Currently i have problems generating a static file for the javascript.

Yahoo (YUI) used to have a compressor/ minifier, but they're now moving to UglifyJS. See:

I have got the layout working properly. However, I want to ask a couple of questions in order to get my set up perfect for the way I want it.
Is application>styles a good place for the stylesheet to be? If not what's the recommended?
How do i add the stylesheet to the layout?
In my layout I have a title tag : <title>Text</title>. How do I pass values from my controllers to it?
Stylesheets need to be accessible from the browser, so typically you will put these somewhere in the public directory, such as public/css
There are several ways, including placing rel tags in your view/layout, but my preferred option is to use the viewHelper within your controller:
$this->view->headLink()->setStylesheet('/css/style.css');
Then your call to headLink() in the layout file will automatically include the stylesheet.
The way I have done this is to use the Zend_Registry in the past. There may be better ways.
I have a self-made math captcha and it should be output without anything before it's image header, so I can't make it a 'View'. I put this captcha.php in the web root dir, but it can't share session with scripts in Yii. How to solve this?
Is there any way to pass the session from Yii to the other scripts or clean anything before the header in view?
Though it is true that the default layout wraps the page's content with the typical html markup you'd expect, you have complete control over that by specifying the layout you'd like from the controller by using $this->layout = ... You can set it to null to use module layout or false to disable the layout completely. See more details in Yii API Docs.
Alternatively you can call $this->renderPartial('view name') if you'd like the output of your captcha script displayed without the surrounding page content.

I tried an iFrame approach but it fails to load the site correctly. The styles and javascript files don't get loaded (i think)
Is there a way to make a portal that mimics a new browser page and load the content exactly as it would if it was directly accessed via the url bar?
It’s possible to perform cross-domain requests using jQuery.
Simply include this file after loading jQuery, and then you can do funky stuff like:
$('html').load('http://helixagent.com/todo/');
Note that this of course won’t load the embedded CSS and JS files. You’ll need to use an iframe for that:

This should be placed inside the <head> tag of your page and it will load the entire site with all the js and css too into a div.
Have you looked at using Server Side Includes.
I'm developing web application using CodeIgniter. All this time, I put the custom js code to do fancy stuffs inside the view file. By doing this, I can use site_url() and base_url() function provided by CodeIgniter.
Today I want to separate all custom js code from view file into an external js file. Then it hit me, I cannot use site_url() and base_url() in the external js file. So, I had to move the js code back into view file.
I want to ask opinion, example, and best practice for this kind of problems. Do you put the custom js code inside the view, or in external js file? If you put it in external file, how do you get around the needs for site_url() and base_url() (beside of course put the absolute url that I want to avoid).
I typically keep mine in an external file, but place a single line within my template (view) that declares a javascript variable called "baseurl" that can later be used by my external javascript.

Now my scripts.js file has access to the base_url() value via its own baseurl variable.
I would do it in a different way - js should be external, obviously, but why not take full advantage of the fact that you have an MVC framework that's perfectly suited to handle all of your javascript magic?
Here's my recipe for Javscript (and CSS) goodness with CI:
Grab a copy of Minify - if you don't know it already, your life will be better. Not in a "Love at first sight / I just discovered jQuery / xkcd / unit testing" kind of way, but at least in a "Dude, prepared statements eradicate SQL injection" kind of way.
Second, create a CI controller that encapsulates Minify (shouldn't be too hard, just remember to set the correct HTTP header and pass the parameters on)
Optionally activate caching to make everything run blazingly fast (Minify has caching built in, but if you're already caching your CI content, you might as well use the same method here.
Optionally define some groups for Minify, to make script loading even nicer
Optionally add the baseurl and siteurl variables (and whatever other values you may need) to the javascript output
And presto, you should now be able to load your scripts by calling the Minify-wrapper:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/min/g=js"></script>
It's crazy fast, it's gzipped, takes just one request rather than many, it gives you full CI control over your scripts, and it even makes your source code cleaner.
Oh, and if you want to be extra nice to your source-code-peeping visitors, you could automatically add something like this to the output:

Donny, if you start passing through every URL separately you will just be giving yourself a ball-ache. Why not just pass through base_url() and contcat the controller/method on the end?
You lose the ability to swap around index_page and url_suffix settings but they shouldnt really change all that often anyway.
