my service provider has given me following piece of PHP code for accessing his service. I need help in converting to C lang code for use in my application. The code is using curl module to post on to a site.
pls advise.
<?php
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_URL, "http://api.mVaayoo.com/mvaayooapi/MessageCompose?user="myusername":"mypassword"&senderID=TEST SMS&receipientno="phonenum"&msgtxt=This is a test from mVaayoo API&state=4");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "user=$user&senderID=$senderID&receipientno=$receipientno&cid=$cid&msgtxt=$msgtxt");
$buffer = curl_exec($ch);
if(empty ($buffer))
{ echo " buffer is empty "; }
else
{ echo $buffer; }
curl_close($ch);
?>
Use libcurl with it's C-interface. The remainer is good old C-style-string-handling.
Your example libcurl program in the comment looks good, except that for a POST you need to install a CURLOPT_READFUNCTION, not a CURLOPT_WRITEFUNCTION. But if you just want to post a static buffer, use CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS instead of a callback function.

I am new here and not a pro in php but need a small help. Actually I was given a code by my service prodvider to upload on my hosting. But when i uploaded that code on my hosting account it didnt work well and after contact the support I was told to use php curl code in some part to make it run. can anyone please help me with the issue.
Original Code:
<?php
$MobileNumber=substr($_REQUEST['VerifiedNumber'],-10);
$APIKey="<Your Dial2verify API Key Here>";
$SenderID="<6 ALPHABETIC CHARACTERS ONLY>";
$Message="<Your SMS Text Here>";
echo `curl -XPOST "http://host/SMS/SEND/$APIKey/$SenderID/$MobileNumber" -d "Msg=$Message"`;
?>
I don't know how to make the above code into curl code to make it work.
Thanks :)
The reason it did not work was that you where trying to call the command line version of cURL (and also doing the call wrong).
The best way is to use the php cURL module to make this call. Verify first that it is installed by creating an info.php file with the contents
<?php phpinfo();
If cURL is present on that page you are good to go.
Obviously I have not had the ability to test this code but something like this should work
$msisdn = substr($_REQUEST['VerifiedNumber'],-10);
$apiKey = "<Your Dial2verify API Key Here>";
$senderId = "<6 ALPHABETIC CHARACTERS ONLY>";
$message = "<Your SMS Text Here>";
$url = "http://host/SMS/SEND/$apiKey/$senderId/$msisdn";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, array('Msg' => $message));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo 'Response from server:';
print_r($result);
By using `, you are using CURL via command line.
1st, check if the CURL extension for php is installed properly on you environment. Check if something about CURL is available when you print <?php phpinfo();?>
2nd, if CURL is installed, check on php.net/curl to know how to use CURL.
Here a simple example to call your webservice :
<?php
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL,"http://www.host.com/SMS/SEND/$APIKey/$SenderID/$MobileNumber");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,"Msg=This+is+my+text+message");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$reply = curl_exec ($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
echo $reply;
?>
I need a function that return me the Timezone of a specific location, so i use the
Google Time Zone API.
function timezoneLookup($lat, $lng){
$url = 'https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/timezone/json?location='.$lat.','.$lng.'×tamp='.time().'&sensor=false';
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $output;
}
The function doesn't work because if i return $url i can see that GET variable "×tamp=" is transformed into "×tamp=".
If i run the script outside the function it works.
WHY??
----UPDATE----
I resolved the problem, the curl doesn't work with https://, so i add:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
See this for more information PHP cURL Not Working with HTTPS
The function works fine. The reason you're seeing ×tamp= is because × is being converted to ×. If you view source you'll see the correct url(instead of viewing the converted entity on the web page).
Why ; is not required
There is no problem with this function. If you echo that URL you will get the multiplication sign because it is being filtered through html and recognizing the ascii code. This only happens when you view it though and html viewer (browser), if you view source you will see the original string.
To confirm that this conversion will not occur when passed through curl_setopt(), I ran your code on my server and got an expected result.
echo timezoneLookup(52.2023913, 33.2023913);
function timezoneLookup($lat, $lng){
$url = 'https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/timezone/json?location='.$lat.','.$lng.'×tamp='.time().'&sensor=false';
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $output;
}
Returned...
{ "dstOffset" : 3600, "rawOffset" : 7200, "status" : "OK", "timeZoneId" : "Europe/Kiev", "timeZoneName" : "Eastern European Summer Time" }
If this code is not working for you then it could be a networking issue. Try doing curl with another webpage and see what happens. Also, with a simple api call like this you could easily use file_get_contents()
:)
I'm trying to send an XML using curl but not as post parameter. what I mean is this.
for example.
the receiving side of that XML won't be able to recieve the XML using $_POST variable.
he will need to use the following code:
$xmlStr=null;
$file=fopen('php://input','r');
$xmlStr=fgets($file);
I want to be able to send an xml string using curl via https.
so the following would be wrong:
public static function HttpsNoVerify($url,$postFields=null,$verbose=false) {
// Initialize session and set URL.
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
// Set so curl_exec returns the result instead of outputting it.
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
if ($postFields !=null) {
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $postFields);
}
if ($verbose) {
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1);
}
// Get the response and close the channel.
$response = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $response;
}
because here i can use HttpsNoVerify($url,array('xml_file'=>'xml..')); and that
will paste it as post parameter. and i want it as post output.
so please I hope i explained myself properly and I explained exactly what I don't want to do.
how can I do what i want to do?
thanks! :)
kfir
Just directly pass the xml string as second parameter instead of an associative array item,
HttpsNoVerify($url, 'xml ..');
This will eventually call
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "xml ...");
Which will be put in php://input for the remote server.
Please excuse my terminology if I get anything wrong, I'm new to Google API
I'm trying to add events via the Places API, for a single venue (listed under the bar category). I've followed the instructions here:
https://developers.google.com/places/documentation/actions?utm_source=welovemapsdevelopers&utm_campaign=places-events-screencast#event_intro
and this is the URL I am posting to (via PHP)
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/event/add/format?sensor=false&key=AIzaSyAFd-ivmfNRDanJ40pWsgP1 (key altered)
which returns a 404 error. If I have understood correctly, I have set the sensor to false as I am not mobile, and created an API key in Google apis, with the PLACES service turned on.
Have I missed a vital step here, or would a subsequent error in the POST submission cause a 404 error? I can paste my code in but I thought I'd start with the basics.
Many thanks for your help, advice and time. It's very much apprecciated.
I've added this line to my CurlCall function which I believe should specify a POST, and the result is still the same.
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
so the whole functions reads
function CurlCall($url,$topost)
{
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADERS, array('Content-Type: application/json'));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $topost);
$body = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo $body;
echo '<br>';
echo 'URL ' . $url;
echo '<br>';
return $body;
}
Are you sure that you are using the POST method and not GET?
You need to specify the format of your request in the URL by changing the word format to either json or xml depending on how you are going to structure and POST your request.
XML:
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/event/add/xml?sensor=false&key=your_api_key
JSON:
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/event/add/json?sensor=false&key=your_api_key
I need to put a string of data like so: '< client>...<\client>' onto an XMl server (example url:'http://example.appspot.com/examples') using PHP.
(Context: Adding a new client's details to the server).
I have tried using CURLOPT_PUT, with a file and with just a string (since it requires CURLOPT_INFILESIZE and CURLOPT_INFILE) but it does not work!
Are there any other PHP functions that could be used to do such a thing? I have been looking around but PUT requests information is sparse.
Thanks.
// Start curl
$ch = curl_init();
// URL for curl
$url = "http://example.appspot.com/examples";
// Put string into a temporary file
$putString = '<client>the RAW data string I want to send</client>';
/** use a max of 256KB of RAM before going to disk */
$putData = fopen('php://temp/maxmemory:256000', 'w');
if (!$putData) {
die('could not open temp memory data');
}
fwrite($putData, $putString);
fseek($putData, 0);
// Headers
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers);
// Binary transfer i.e. --data-BINARY
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_BINARYTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
// Using a PUT method i.e. -XPUT
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PUT, true);
// Instead of POST fields use these settings
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILE, $putData);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILESIZE, strlen($putString));
$output = curl_exec($ch);
echo $output;
// Close the file
fclose($putData);
// Stop curl
curl_close($ch);
since I haven't worked with cURL so far I can't really answer to that topic. If you'd like to use cURL I'd suggest looking at the server log and see what actually didn't work (so: Was the output of the request really what it's supposed to be?)
If you don't mind switching over to another technology/library I'd suggest you to use the Zend HTTP Client which is really straight forward to use, simple to include and should satisfy all your needs. Especially as performing a PUT Request is as simple as that:
<?php
// of course, perform require('Zend/...') and
// $client = new Zend_HTTP_Client() stuff before
// ...
[...]
$xml = '<yourxmlstuffhere>.....</...>';
$client->setRawData($xml)->setEncType('text/xml')->request('PUT');
?>
Code sample is from: Zend Framework Docs # RAW-Data Requests
Another way to add string body to the PUT request with CURL in PHP is:
<?php
$data = 'My string';
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, 'PUT'); // Define method type
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data); // Set data to the body request
?>
I hope this helps!
