Thanks for previous replies
I am execution "select Name from table_name where id=1"; . i saw some tutorials for getting data from the database, they mentioned $DB = new Zend_Db_Adapter_Pdo_Mysql($params);
DB->setFetchMode(Zend_Db::FETCH_OBJ); and the result will getting through $result = $DB->fetchAssoc($sql); This $result is an array format, i want to get only name instead of getting all the data from the database. I am new to this topic. if i made any mistake pls do correct.
try this:
$result = $DB->fetchOne("SELECT name FROM table_name WHERE id=1");
This code will execute your query through doctrine getServiceLocator(). With the help of createQueryBuilder(), you can write your query directly into zend-framework2, and with setParameter, any desired condition would be set easily.
$entityManager = $this->getServiceLocator()->get('doctrine.entitymanager.orm_default');
$qb = $entityManager->createQueryBuilder();
$qb->select(array(
'TableName.columnName as columnName '
))
->from('ProjectName\Entity\TableName', 'TableName')
->where('TableName.TableId = :Info')
->setParameter('Info', $id);
$var= $qb->getQuery()->getScalarResult();
The $var variable holds the value for which, you wanted the comparison to be made with, and holds only the single values of your interest.

Ok, don't know if this is simple in practice as it is in theory but I want to know.
I have a single INSERT query were by in that query, i want to extract the AUTO_INCREMENT value then reuse it in the same query.
For example
//values to be inserted in database table
$a_name = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['a_name']);
$details = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['details']);
$display_type = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['display_type']);
$getId = mysqli_insert_id();
//MySqli Insert Query
$insert_row = $mysqli->query("INSERT INTO articles (a_name,details,display_type,date_posted) VALUES('$a_name','$details','$display_type$getId',CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)");
Apparently, am getting a blank value(I know because the mysqli_insert_id() is before the query, but I've tried all i could but nothing has come out as i want. Can some please help me on how to achive this
From my knoweldge this cant be done. Because no query has been run, MySQL is unable to return the ID of said query.
You could use a classic approach, pull the id of the previous record and add 1 to it, this is not a great solution as if a record is deleted, the auto increment value and the last value +1 may differ.
Run multiple queries and then use the insert_id (MySQLi is different to what you are using, you are best using $db->lastInsertId(); as mentioned in the comments.
Run a query before hand and store it as a variable;
SELECT auto_increment FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES WHERE table_name = 'tablename'
I strongly recommend Option 2, it is simply the cleanest and most reliable method for what you are looking to achieve.
It seems the value required for $display_type is :$display_type + (max(id) + 1).
In order to get the max_id you'll have to do this query before :
$sql = "SELECT id FROM articles ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1";
$result = mysqli->query($sql);
$maxid = $result->fetch_array(MYSQLI_NUM);
// $maxid[0] will contains the value desired
// Remove the mysqli_insert_id() call - Swap $getid by ($maxid[0] + 1)
// and u're good to go
N.B. update the name of ur primary key in the query $sql.
EDIT :
Assuming the weakness of the query and the quick resarch i did.
Try to replace $sql by (don't forget to Update DatabaseName & TableName values) :
$sql = SELECT `AUTO_INCREMENT`
FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES
WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'DatabaseName'
AND TABLE_NAME = 'TableName';
That Should do it . More info on the link below :
Stackoverflow : get auto-inc value
I don't think this can be done. You'll have to first insert the row, then update display_type, in two separate queries.
Thanks guys for your opinions, out of final copy, paste, edit and fix; here is the final working code(solution)
`
//values to be inserted in database table
$a_name = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['a_name']);
$details = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['details']);
$display_type = $mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['display_type']);
//Select AUTO_INCREMENT VALUE
$sql = "SELECT `AUTO_INCREMENT`
FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES
WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'chisel_bk'
AND TABLE_NAME = 'articles'";
$result = $mysqli->query($sql);
$maxid = $result->fetch_array(MYSQLI_NUM);
$getId = $maxid[0];
//MySqli Insert Query
$insert_row = $mysqli->query("INSERT INTO articles (a_name,details,display_type,date_posted) VALUES('$a_name','$details','$display_type$getId',CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)");
This happens to do the magic!!!

I have a database with a table which has two columns, lets say aa_id and bb_id - each of the the columns is a foreign key relating to another table and both columns are making a composite key for this particular table. there are several rows containing either the same aa_id and different bb_id or the same bb_id and different aa_id.
using pdo I want to extract the rows of the same - let's say - aa_id and I want to do this passing the parameter value in url. so the result of the select statement should be several rows and they should be saved as - for example - an array.
I have tried to do this with following code:
$sql = sprintf("select aa_id, bb_id from a_table where aa_id=:aa_id");
$res = $db->query($sql);
$rows = $res->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC);
foreach($rows as $key=>$value)
{
echo $key . " - " . $value . "</br>";
}
And it give no result.
I does work if I state the value of aa_id in the query like this
$sql = sprintf("select aa_id, bb_id from a_table where aa_id=191919");
, but it extracts no data if I put the value in url.
I am not really sure what to search for in the web because I don't know what's the notation called (if it is). If somebody could tell me what may be wrong with the code or give me directions to what I should look for in the web among tutorials or documentation I will be grateful. Perhaps somebody could recommend a good source of knowledge about mysql, php and pdo... Thanks in advance.
Well yeah, :indicator doesn't just automatically load in $_GET['indicator'], you need to manually bind it.
Assuming the URL ends with, ?aa_id=191919, your code might look something like this:
$sql = "select aa_id, bb_id from a_table where aa_id=:aa_id";
$res = $db->prepare($sql);
$res->bindValue(':aa_id', $_GET['aa_id'], PDO::PARAM_INT);
$res->execute();
$rows = $res->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC);
while($row=$res->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC))
{
print_r($row);
}
I'm using CakePHP 3, I need to run a raw SQL query on multiple tables. In CakePHP 2, this could be done by using the query() method on any model ( $this->Messages->query("select..") ).
I need the method that allows me to run a SQL query in CakePHP 3. Following is the code snippet I'm using:
$aumTable = TableRegistry::get('Messages');
$sql = "SELECT (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `messages`) AS `Total_Count`,
(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `messages_output`) AS `Total_Output_Count`,
(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `messages_output` WHERE `is_success`=1) AS `Total_Successful_Output_Count`,
(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `messages_output` WHERE `is_success`=0) AS `Total_Error_Output_Count`,
(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `users`) AS `Total_User_Count`;";
// to run this raw SQL query what method should i use? query() doesn't work..
// $result = $aumTable->query($sql); ??
// $result = $aumTable->sql($sql); ??
If you can provide links to CakePHP 3 model documentation where I can find this info, that would be helpful too. I tried searching on google but could only find questions related to CakePHP 2.
First you need to add the ConnectionManager:
use Cake\Datasource\ConnectionManager;
Then you need to get your connection like so:
// my_connection is defined in your database config
$conn = ConnectionManager::get('my_connection');
More info: http://book.cakephp.org/3.0/en/orm/database-basics.html#creating-connections-at-runtime
After that you can run a custom query like this:
$stmt = $conn->execute('UPDATE posts SET published = ? WHERE id = ?', [1, 2]);
More info: http://book.cakephp.org/3.0/en/orm/database-basics.html#executing-queries
And then you are ready to fetch the row(s) like this:
// Read one row.
$row = $stmt->fetch('assoc');
// Read all rows.
$rows = $stmt->fetchAll('assoc');
// Read rows through iteration.
foreach ($rows as $row) {
// Do work
}
More info: http://book.cakephp.org/3.0/en/orm/database-basics.html#executing-fetching-rows
The documentation for this is here: http://book.cakephp.org/3.0/en/orm/database-basics.html#executing-queries
But what's not written there is how to execute it. Because it cost me a while, here is the solution for that:
1.You need to add
use Cake\Datasource\ConnectionManager;
2.init the ConnectionManager (as mentioned above)
$conn = ConnectionManager::get('my_connection');
3.Execute your SQL with something like this
$firstName = $conn->execute('SELECT firstname FROM users WHERE id = 1');
The question is already very old, but I still find it frequently.
Here is a solution for CAKEPHP 3.6 and (short) for newer PHP Versions.
It is not necessary to use the ConnectionManager get function and often it does not make sense, as the connection name may not be known at all. Every table has its / a connection which one can get with getConnection ().
If you are already in the Messages Table (src/Model/Table/MessagesTable.php), you can simply use the Connection
$con = $this->Messages->getConnection();
If you are not there (what your code would suggest with TableRegistry::get(), you can do that with this table as well
// $aumTable is declared in question
$con = $aumTable->getConnection();
then you can execute a RAW query as shown above:
$result = $con->execute ();
// short
$result = $this->Messages->getConnection()->execute ('Select * from ...')
// or ($aumTable is declared in question)
$result = $aumTable->getConnection()->execute ('Select * from ...');
For the user I am testing with, their org_id column value is "student_life"
I am trying to have this function display whatever rows have the student_life column = 1. (so yes there is a column student_life which is a boolean, and then I also have a separate column named org_id and in this case has the value student_life)
I am pretty sure there is a syntax error but I cannot figure it out.
function org_id_users_table()
{
$org_id = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["org_id"]);
$sql = $this->query("SELECT * FROM ".DBTBLE." WHERE '$org_id' = '1'");
$result = $sql['sql'];
$num_rows = $sql['num_rows'];
$this->create_table($result, $num_rows);
}
(when I replace $org_id in the "$sql=..." line with student_life the code works.
You're quoting the column name, which makes MySQL think it's a string.
$sql = $this->query("SELECT * FROM ".DBTBLE." WHERE $org_id = '1'");
Edit:
Based on your comments, I think what you actually want is this:
$sql = $this->query("SELECT * FROM ".DBTBLE." WHERE org_id = '$org_id'");
Change quotes.
$sql = $this->query("SELECT * FROM ".DBTBLE." WHERE `$org_id` = '1'");
P.S. Why shouldn't I use mysql_* functions in PHP?
Where is this coming from? $_POST["org_id"]
Do you have a form on the page posting that? Or are you just trying to get that from the database? If so, wouldn't you need another query to obtain that first?
$row_MyFirstQuery['org_id']
Otherwise if it is $_POST["org_id"], wouldn't it be single quotes not double? $_POST['org_id']
There is probably a simple solution to this question, but if i have the function below and $events contains an unknown number of integers, how would I use the $events variable in a query like this?
function remove_events($events)
{
$sql = "delete from events where event_id in $events";
$query = $this->db->query($sql);
}
if $event is a single value then you must use
$sql = "delete from events where event_id = $events";
Or if it is an array
$sql = "delete from events where event_id in (".implode(',', $events).") ";
the following sql syntax should help you to resolve your queries .
delete FROM events WHERE event_id IN ('2','3');
In the above example (2,3) should be a codeigniter array.
hope that you have the contents in $events as like 1,2,3... . if so no problem, else if you have spaces between the numbers , use like this format.
implode(',',explode(' ',$events));
give it a try and let me know.
Let Active Record make the job:
$this->db->where_in('id', $events)->delete('events');
All values are escaped automatically producing safer queries.
