I've looked through this site and looked at the Facebook docs but I can't seem to delete an invite after a friend accepts.
So, what happens is:
1. Steve invites John to a game.
2. John receives that invite and clicks accept.
3. John is taken to the game, but the invite message is not delete in his facebook page.
Facebook docs suggests I add "method=delete" when I post to https://graph.facebook.com/[request_id]?access_token=xxxx
But that returns me "{"error":{"type":"OAuthException","message":"(#2) Invalid parameter: Unknown error"}}". I'm pretty sure I'm using the most recent access_token.
Can anyone provide me with sample code which deletes an application invite after a user accepts?

There's brief examples at https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/dialogs/requests/ and a longer example on https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/464/ which show how to do this.
It sounds from your comments on fjsj's answer that you know what you're supposed to be doing - it definitely looks OK to me.
It could be that you're encountering a bug of some kind, but I think in this case it's more likely that somehow the access token of the user is being sent or there's a slight error in the way you're accessing the API - If there's a specific error message you're getting back? maybe post that here if there is.
Two things to check:
Is the request you're trying to delete returned when you make a GET request to /<request id>? (using the app access token)
Are the requests being sent using the newer Requests 2.0 dialogs? If you're using the older requests system, the instructions are basically the same, but the connection you access the requests at is the [currently undocumented] /<USER>/platformrequests endpoint (as opposed to /<USER>/apprequests
Try doing a HTTP DELETE instead of a POST. This is what the documentation says.

I'm starting out with the Slack API and trying to just get a list of messages.
Here are my steps:
Created a Slack app and gave it channels:read and channels:history scope (also re-installed it)
Queried the list of channels with conversations.list (this worked fine)
From the output of conversations.list, I found a channel that I use and copied the id
Used the conversations.history api with the channelid from step 3
Result:
{ "ok": false, "error": "not_in_channel" }
I'm not at all sure what is happening here. I definitely have messages in the channel, and the documentation page for that api does not say anything about this "not_in_channel" error code.
What am I doing wrong?
After a long time of investigations (~2 hours), I found an easy approach. For Caleb's answer, I didn't understand how to invite a Bot to the channel. Hence, I am posting this answer.
Go to your Slack Channel and type the following as a message.
/invite #BOT_NAME
Eg: If your Bot name is SRE Incident Manager the command would be as follows.
/invite #sre_incident_manager
As soon as you start typing #, Slack will automatically suggest. So it becomes easy. For this, the Bot needs to be added to your Slack Workspace.

The error not_in_channel has the exact meaning, your custom Slack app should be added to the channel.
Exact solution 1
To resolve the error, in the Web Slack interface:
Open channel settings
Click on the Integrations tab
Click Add apps and find your custom app.
Slack app might have different interface, see Iryna Vernik's answer.
Alternative solution 2
Give access to the bot to all channels by adding workspace wide scope, for example, chat:write.public. Depends on your needs and security requirements.
Alternative solution 3
To access the channel chat from API specify Incoming webhook. Slack will generate a unique URL with the token per each channel. Only convenient for a few channels.
This error arises when you are using the bot oauth token and the bot is not invited to the channel. To solve this you need to
Invite the bot(slack app) to join the channel.
Use the OAuth Access Token instead
To add Bot to your channel you need to write /invite #Bot_name in the slack channel
I also didn't understand how to invite a Bot to the channel. Way that was proposed by Caleb and Keet was not clear for me or not working. From my side, 'invite' work after
open channel
in Details tab, choose a 'More'clause
in dropdown menu, chouse an 'add app'
in pop-up look for you app (bot)
Also i was use Bot User OAuth Access Token, because i need this functionality in private channel (additionaly, you should add for bot groups:history scope)
FOr me, instead of invite a user/bot, I invite the app.
I'm getting started with the Slack API as well, and I've come to realize that not_in_channel simply means that the user/bot you are using the token for hasn't joined that particular channel you're trying to perform an action on.
Think of it this way: if you're using Slack on the web-browser or web-app, you wouldn't be able to post a message on a channel you haven't either joined or was invited to.
☝️ You'll also never run into this issue through the Slack UI/UX because you're not even able to access the channels UNTIL you are invited or join it.

However, because we're using the API we can essentially skip some steps, and in this case we skipped the step where a user/bot has joined the channel before doing the action we're trying to perform (writing a message, grabbing information, etc).
💪 How to address this
There's probably plenty of ways to do it that I'm not versed in, but if you're just concerned about a specific channel or two without the concern of scaling to x channels I'll list the way that worked for me.
📇 /invite Slash Command
As others have mentioned, putting /invite in the message box lets you use Slack's slash command shortcut to add users. What's important is this way also allows us to invite bots to the channel.
Putting "#" triggers Slack to start auto-suggesting, which is why it then becomes easy to find your bot name in the list.

The bot can join channel programmatically by using API below:

I'm building a Facebook application that uses a webhook to read Facebook leads. The application is now working fine: every new lead in my campaigns are sent via the webhook to my script, with the needed information about the lead: ad_id, form_id, leadgen_id and so.
Now, I am trying to get some additional information with the Facebook Graph API based on the ad_id, form_id and leadgen_id and I'm having issues with this. I tried the Facebook Graph API in both PHP curl, and a direct HTTP GET call, and I'm having the same issue in both ways.
When I try to fetch the lead object using leadgen_id, it works fine, and I can get the name, email and phone that I need.
When I try to fetch the form object using form_id, it also works fine, and I manage to get the form name.
But when I try to fetch the ad object using the ad_id (since I need the name of the ad) it gives me the following error: "Unsupported get request. Object with ID '23848043174300142' does not exist, cannot be loaded due to missing permissions".
Currently I have the following permissions (advanced access): pages_read_engagement, pages_manage_ads, pages_manage_metadata, pages_show_list, leads_retrieval, public_profile, ads_management.
Is it an issue with the permissions or with my call?
I tried both PHP curl, and a direct HTTP GET call, and I'm having the same issue in both.
My HTTP GET call to retrieve the ad's name (based on ads_id) is the following:
https://graph.facebook.com/v11.0/ADS_ID?access_token=MY_LONG_TIME_APP_ACCESS_TOKEN
(when I'm replacing ads_id with leadgen_id or with form_id, it gives me the relevant object without any problem).

I am sorry if this comes up late, I just had a very similar issue and the solution was to go to the Business Manager then Business Settings > Integrations > Leads access and assign the user that we are using the token for to the corresponding brand.

A team of some friends and I have come up with an app/product idea that we have been working on. I have to be vague on exactly what the details are, but hopefully I can explain it well enough to have the questions we have answered.
First, we have a web server with a database - we have developed all of the code for that in PHP. Each user will have a device which when an action is performed on the device, it sends a message to our server, and the PHP code on our server handles the message and stores the sent data in the appropriate fields in our database.
We want to run this through Facebook - we have an app and a Facebook page created for this. The idea is that when a user performs an action on his or her device and the message is sent to the server, the PHP code will automatically make a post on the Facebook page on the user’s behalf (not on the Page’s behalf).
Between all of us on working on this project, we have spent many days and many hours trying to figure out how to make the automatic post to the page. It’s extremely difficult googling this topic since all of the various examples are using different versions of the Facebook SDK (we are using the latest). There are lots of somewhat similar type questions/examples, but we can't find one that answers specifically what we are asking. In fact, we aren’t even sure that anybody but an ‘admin’ can post on a Facebook page with the new SDK, any longer. I do see this link in the Facebook developer section, https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v2.5/page/feed, where it says under the Publishing section:
Permissions
A user access token with publish_actions permission can be used to publish new posts on behalf of that person. Posts will appear in the voice of the user.
So, it sounds as if a user can post to the Facebook page if it is given an access token with publish_actions permission, yet we can’t find any example of code of this actually being done. Could anybody explain how to do the automatic posting to the page on a user’s behalf (hopefully, using PHP, since that is the language we are using on the server side), or at least point us to a good example? We are all experienced developers, but this is the first time any of us has done anything with Facebook development. So we certainly aren’t amateurs, but with Facebook development, we are. We may be overlooking something obvious, but after seeing so many links, my mind is jello.
A summary of our questions:
1. Can it even be done with the latest Facebook SDK that a post can be made to a Facebook Page for our product on the user’s behalf? (to be clear, we are talking about the Facebook Page we created for our app, not a user's page)
2. If so, what specific permissions do we need to give the user, just the publish_actions one? We don’t want to give the user too much permission to be able to screw up our page, of course.
3. Can this be done automatically with PHP from the server?

I've been visiting this forum for years, but this is my first ever question. Any help would be appreciated!
I am writing a web service to pass groups from one application into Facebook and invite the authorised people into them and set a nice pretty cover photo that is generated and stored within the application.
The group creation works splendidly after a fair old bit of head scratching, however, when I try to set the cover image, I am getting a rather useful error message back as below.
OAuth "Facebook Platform" "unknown_error" "An unknown error has occurred."
It's a PHP application on Code Igniter. According to Facebook's delightfully accurate API documentation, this is a simple matter of a cUrl post to 'graph.facebook.com/$groupId' passing the same auth token I just used to create the group and perform the invites and a single JSON encoded parameter of 'cover_url' => $urlOfImage .
A simple task in theory, however, I have spent all day today and a significant chunk of yesterday trying to get this to work without much success.
I have tried posting the image as a Curl object as is necessary in other areas of the Facebook API, and it appears to be trying giving me an error that the image is generating a 404 error (it isn't, when I checked the access logs, it was never requested).
Please be someone out there who has had some success with this.

I am trying to get a list of all Google Apps users of a domain onto a public PHP website (without visitors of the site needing to login or do anything). I have a basic understanding of what needs to happen but can't quite piece it all together. It can't be as hard as it seems to me... could it?
Authentication and Authorization:
I'm pretty sure it needs to use OAuth 2.0 ... but am unsure whether it needs 2 legged or 3 legged. I got another section of the site working with ClientLogin but that won't pull in Google Apps profiles, only user's first and last names (I need the other profile fields). I have set up the API access within the account and have that side of things all set (I believe).
I have found this page, which shows how to construct a URL request to get all Profiles (in every language except PHP of course) but don't understand how to implement this.

How I integrate the Google Profiles "Retrieve all Profiles" request with PHP

You'll need to implement the Google OAuth 2.0 process as it's described here (experimental?), because someone (you) will need to give your app the initial permissions to access Google Apps API. Steps are:
Register your domain with google (don't remember the link)
Redirect/send browser to an authentication url: https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/auth, with the appropriate request params (see the first link). You'll need access_type=offline, your scope would be https://apps-apis.google.com/a/feeds/user/
Get a code back, then exchange for a refresh_token, an access_token, and a value specifying when the access_token will expire. Store these in a database
Whenever you need to make an API call, check if your access_token has expired or not, and refresh when necessary, which is what the refresh_token is for. The refresh_token is valid as long as you don't revoke the access you gave to the app.
