Not getting HTML using curl, why? - php

Why am I not getting the HTML code when I use PHP curl? This is my code:
// $content = file_get_contents('http://www.datadiary.com/Company/311734/dimsinstituteofhotelmanagement');
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'http://www.datadiary.com/Company/311734/dimsinstituteofhotelmanagement');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIESESSION, false);
$content = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo $content;

By default curl_exec sends the response to the output (usually the browser). Set the CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER option if you want curl_exec to return the result instead:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
Relevant manual entries:
http://php.net/curl-exec
http://php.net/curl-setopt

You need to add the option to return the transfer as a string:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);

Get some data from external website via cURL

I want to pull some html pice of code with some data from an external website with cURL, but a recived a null response. If I type the url in browser i get the data that i want but i need to do that from my app via cURL or file_get_contents();
This is my code :
$_awb = '888000074599';
$url = 'http://89.45.196.45';
$post_fields = ':8080/?id=8IM*8J*9K&NT='.$_awb;
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $post_fields);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
You should not be using CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS. You are trying to do a GET request with a query string, but postfields is intended for making POST requests.
So setting CURLOPT_URL to the proper (absolute) URL should work.
$url = "http://89.45.196.45:8080/?id=8IM*8J*9K&NT="
$nt = "888000074599";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url . $nt);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close ($ch);

Curl_exec return null in php

I have a problem to get the data using curl operation. Here i hide the token, If i use the url only in my browser then it returns the data but here its null.
<?php
$token = "TOKEN"; //the actual token hidden
$url = "https://crm.zoho.com/crm/private/xml/Leads/getRecords?authtoken=".$token."&scope=crmapi";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo $result; //does not return anything
?>
Where i do mistake please help me.
This is how you can try with CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER which is used to return the output and curl_errno() to track the errors :
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "http://example.com/my_url.php" );
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1 );
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $post_data);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$postResult = curl_exec($ch);
if (curl_errno($ch)) {
print curl_error($ch);
}
curl_close($ch);
Helpful Links: curl_errno(), curl_error()
Try adding these lines:
<?php
$token = "TOKEN"; //the actual token hidden
$url = "https://crm.zoho.com/crm/private/xml/Leads/getRecords";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, array("authtoken"=>$token,"scope"=>"crmapi"));
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo $result; //does not return anything
?>
please see below article , not just turn off verify , you should update your php.ini with pem file
https://snippets.webaware.com.au/howto/stop-turning-off-curlopt_ssl_verifypeer-and-fix-your-php-config/
Anyone running a recent Linux distribution is probably already OK, because they get the curl libraries bundled in through their package managers and recent curl libraries come with the latest CA root certificate bundle from Mozilla.org.
For a PHP installation that doesn’t come with this file, like the Windows PHP distribution, you need to download the CA root certificate bundle and tell PHP where to find it.

php google weather api query

I'm having trouble retrieving data from the google api. When I run the code, it only returns a blank page and not a printout of the xml array. Here is the code:
$url="http://www.google.com/ig/api";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "?weather=london,england");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$data = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo "<pre>";
print_r($data);
I think that the problem is that you use POST method, and not the GET
Try like this
$url="http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=london,england";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$data = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
Hope it helps :)
EDIT: And yes, you have to do some extra parsing to get the data from the XML string

curl_exec printing results when I don't want to

I am using the following code:
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 12);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
However it's printing the results straight away. Is it possible to put the JSON result into a variable so I can print it out when I want to?
Set CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER option:
// ...
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
Per the docs:
CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER - TRUE to return the transfer as a string of the return value of curl_exec() instead of outputting it out directly.
Have you tried?
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 0);
This worked for me!
after php 5.1 curl will display always result you can view in documentation. for avoid it simply use
echo "< span style='display:none'>";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 12);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
echo"< /span>";

get the value of an url response with curl

I am using PHP curl method to get a string type response. To create the request I use:
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FAILONERROR, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_BINARYTRANSFER, $data);
$response = curl_exec($ch);
$err = curl_error($ch);
curl_close($ch);
if($response === false)
throw new Exception(__CLASS__."::".__FUNCTION__."_".$err);
return $response;
Why I always receive a bool(true) response instead of the string I echo from the other side?
Thanks
Since you already have
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
in your code. curl_exec should already returns the content of the page instead of a BOOL.
This is a snippet of a library I use. As pointed out this might not be needed but it helped me out once...
//The content - if true, will not download the contents
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_NOBODY, false);
Also it seems to have some bugs related to CURLOPT_NOBODY (which might explain why you have this issue):
