I am completely stumped on this one. COMPLETELY stumped.
I'm building the framework for an ad network. While prototyping, I did most my building at Kodingen. Everything worked fine over there.
I just migrated to a new host, though, and I've got this one weird problem. Weird.
Bear with me as I explain this.
The ads for my ad network are placed through a code snippet that the user places on his site. Here's the code snippet:
<script type="text/javascript">
document.write('<scr' + 'ipt type="text/javascript" src="http://mysite.net/ad_engine.php?pid=333"></scr' + 'ipt>');
</script>
And, after PHP processes the request, here's the output on the ad_engine.php page:
document.write("<div class='adframe' style='min-width:250px; min-height:100px;'><a href='click.php?adid=4224&pid=333' target='_self''><img src='http://mysite.net/ads/image.png' border='0' class='adimage' style='min-width:125px; min-height:100px;' /></a><span class='adtext'><a href='click.php?adid=4224&pid=333' target='_self''>This is the ad contents right here</a></span></div>");
This method worked fine when I was developing on Kodingen. The ad appeared on any page I placed this snippet on. But, since having migrated to my new server - and not having changed anything - this method won't work.
ON THE NEW SERVER: ad_engine.php, when typed directly into the address bar, shows the ad like usual. But when it's loaded onto any other page via that first code snippet I showed you, the ad won't appear. Strangely enough, the OLD ad_engine.php file - the one on my old host - still works fine even if I load it onto a page on my new host. Follow?
Although no ad appears, I know that the ad_engine.php page, the one on my new host, I know that it IS being processed, because MySQL changes are made like they're supposed to.
I've tried to be as clear as I can in explaining this problem, if you've got any questions just let me know.
Help?
Already tested a caching problem? Maybe your new host has different cache settings?
Try adding some random number to the .php call:
document.write('<scr' + 'ipt type="text/javascript" src="http://mysite.net/ad_engine.php?pid=333&x=RANDOM_NUMBER_GOES_HERE"></scr' + 'ipt>');

I'm facing weird problem which a bit complicated to understand. So the situation is that:
we have 2 installs (actually more, but not relevant for now)
both installs places on same server (apache + nginx)
we update our code and therefore deploy to staging - first install works great, second one has problem.
the code is 100% percent the same
there is no influence of other plugin (wordpress) on the specific part of code
The relevant code is the following:
$track = new trackClass();
$track->store_parameters();
$parameters = unserialize($track->parameters);
class trackClass // this class sits on different file
{
public $parameters;
public function __construct() {
...
}
method...
method...
method ..
public function store_parameters()
{
...
}
}
Before we modify our code, the function store_parameters was private, now its public.
So when on the second install the code is running its raise an error that the store_paramters() function is private and not accessible (remind you that it happens only on the second install).
I tried another thing get_class_methods($track) and the response was all the methods except the store_parameters(). Again - weird.
Next step, put wp_die('test') in the top of the file of the class. Refreshing the page and all as usual (the file is definitely loaded). If I try to access the admin (wp-admin) the changes make difference - the page is killed, blank screen and 'test' on it.
Next step, remove this file completely from the server. Refreshing the page and nothing happen. Their is ajax request from the class file which run as usual, like the file is exists and everything is ok. Again, going to the admin page and the error is raised (require_once ... not found).
Its doesn't seems like its code or development problem. The code is same. I'm afraid that its something on the server side / environment (apache, nginx) but unfortunately I've no access to the linux, I only can chat with the support of the hosting company.
They are insists that is code problem. No matter the tests I wrote above.
What can cause this kind of problem? I'm losing my mind here with no lead, its like the file is stuck somewhere.
I hope I can manage to explain this problem...
I have an T3-extension that handles shared content.
In this shared content, we have links (page-ids) that are defined and converted into something like /en/clients/contact, using
$cObj = t3lib_div::makeInstance('tslib_cObj');
$href = $cObj->getTypoLink_URL($linkValue); // $linkValue is an integer (e.g. 153)
This works fine - until I change the language on the page. Then, the last used URL kinda «sticks» and the language indicator isn't present in the URL anymore.
Means:
call the german page -> works
change to english -> works
change back to german -> the english link is presented.
So the above link turns out like clients/contact (the leading slash is gone as well).
Oddly enough, I have a local installation of the same page where the problem doesn't occur. It's just on the page that's online.
I tried to find differences in the configuration, but there aren't any.
The only difference I could find so far is, that I use Typo3 v4.5.35 for the local installation and v4.7.17 for the online installation.
Any ideas???
This was very odd... but, I found a solution.
Instead of using $cObj->getTypoLink_URL($linkValue); I'm using this:
$configurations['additionalParams'] = "&L=".(int)t3lib_div::_GP('L');
$configurations['returnLast'] = 'url'; // get it as URL
$configurations['parameter'] = $linkValue;
$href = $cObject->typolink(NULL, $configurations);
It seems that when I created the $cObj, the L-Parameter got lost somewhere, somewhen. By adding it manually, the Link works as expected.
I dont know how to explain my need, and neither which key words to use to find a solution on google, so i'll give an url to be more clear:
check an IP (click on: Check your current IP address)
I'ld like, by using this website for example, getting somes informations after all the processus are terminated.
I tried with "file_get_contents" and with "cURL functions" but i did not find a way to do it, i always get the original source code.
Any idea ?
EDIT:
<body onLoad="setTimeout('get_my_blacklist()', 60000)">
...
...
<?php
echo '<iframe id="my_iframe" src="http://multirbl.valli.org/lookup/'.$ip.'.html">';
?>
...
...
<script>
function get_my_blacklist()
{
//function to get the content after somes secondes.
}
</script>
Here is the new code i tried thank to #Ludovic for is iframe idea.
Still working on it, i'll tell you if its working or not to solve my issue.
Edit2: Whatever how i try, i didnt find a way to get the containt of my frame window.. And even if i'ld succeed, i dont know how i can update my database if do it with JQuery/Javascript
First the page should have been construct by server script like PHP, at this step you have all IP requested then the page is modified by JQuery script who seems to query each IP.
The second step is an asynchronous script so you can't know when the page is effectively finished to construct.
Hey everybody, this issue has had me stumped for the last week or so, here's the situation:
I've got a site hosted using GoDaddy hosting. The three files used in this issue are index.html , milktruck.js , and xml_http_request.php all hosted in the same directory.
The index.html file makes reference to the milktruck.js file with the following code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="milktruck.js"></script>
The milktruck.js file automatically fires when the site is opened. The xml_http_request.php has not fired at this point.
On line 79 out of 2000 I'm passing the variable "simple" to a function within the milktruck.js file with:
placem('p2','pp2', simple, window['lla0_2'],window['lla1_2'],window['lla2_2']);
"simple" was never initialized within the milktruck.js file. Instead I've included the following line of code in the xml_http_request.php file:
echo "<script> var simple = 'string o text'; </script>";
At this point I have not made any reference whatsoever to the xml_http_request.php file within the milktruck.js file. I don't reference that file until line 661 of the milktruck.js file with the following line of code:
xmlhttp.open('GET',"xml_http_request.php?pid="+pid+"&unLoader=true", false);
Everything compiles (I'm assuming because my game runs) , however the placem function doesn't run properly because the string 'string o text' never shows up.
If I was to comment out the line of code within the php file initializing "simple" and include the following line of code just before I call the function placem, everything works fine and the text shows up:
var simple = 'string o text';
Where do you think the problem is here? Do I need to call the php file before I try using the "simple" variable in the javascript file? How would I do that? Or is there something wrong with my code?
So, we meet again!
Buried in the question comments is the link to the actual Javascript file. It's 2,200 lines, 73kb, and poorly formatted. It's also derived from a demo for the Google Earth API.
As noted in both the comments here and in previous questions, you may be suffering from a fundamental misunderstanding about how PHP works, and how PHP interacts with Javascript.
Let's take a look at lines 62-67 of milktruck.js:
//experiment with php and javascript interaction
//'<?php $simpleString = "i hope this works"; ?>'
//var simple = "<?php echo $simpleString; ?>";
The reason this never worked is because files with the .js extension are not processed by PHP without doing some bizarre configuration changes on your server. Being on shared hosting, you won't be able to do that. Instead, you can rename the file with the .php extension. This will allow PHP to process the file, and allow the commands you entered to actually work.
You will need to make one more change to the file. At the very top, the very very top, before anything else, you will need the following line:
<?php header('Content-Type: text/javascript'); ?>
This command will tell the browser that the file being returned is Javascript. This is needed because PHP normally outputs HTML, not Javascript. Some browsers will not recognize the script if it isn't identified as Javascript.
Now that we've got that out of the way...
Instead I've included the following line of code in the xml_http_request.php file: <a script tag>
This is very unlikely to work. If it does work, it's probably by accident. We're not dealing with a normal ajax library here. We're dealing with some wacky thing created by the Google Earth folks a very, very long time ago.
Except for one or two in that entire monolithic chunk of code, there are no ajax requests that actually process the result. This means that it's unlikely that the script tag could be processed. Further, the one or two that do process the result actually treat it as XML and return a document. It's very unlikely that the script tag is processed there either.
This is going to explain why the variable never shows up reliably in Javascript.
If you need to return executable code from your ajax calls, and do so reliably, you'll want to adopt a mature, well-tested Javascript library like jQuery. Don't worry, you can mix and match the existing code and jQuery if you really wanted to. There's an API call just to load additional scripts. If you just wanted to return data, that's what JSON is for. You can have PHP code emit JSON and have jQuery fetch it. That's a heck of a lot faster, easier, and more convenient than your current unfortunate mess.
Oh, and get Firebug or use Chrome / Safari's dev tools, they will save you a great deal of Javascript pain.
However...
I'm going to be very frank here. This is bad code. This is horrible code. It's poorly formatted, the commenting is a joke, and there are roughly one point seven billion global variables. The code scares me. It scares me deeply. I would be hesitant to touch it with a ten foot pole.
I would not wish maintenance of this code on my worst enemy, and here you are, trying to do something odd with it.
I heartily encourage you to hone your skills on a codebase that is less archaic and obtuse than this one before returning to this project. Save your sanity, get out while you still can!
perhaps init your values like this:
window.simple = 'blah blah blah'
then pass window.simple
You could try the debugger to see what is going on, eg. FireBug
This question is somewhat related to my previous question (not necessary to go through it)
link text
, although this one is more of an Ajax problem.
I tested my page in firebug and I am getting the following error
Event.Observe is not a function
Event.observe('form908983160', 'submit', function(event) { new Ajax.Updater('comments','/blog/posts/comments/add', {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true, parameters:Form.serialize('form908983160'), requestHeaders:['X-Update', 'comments']}) }, false);
I am using the prototype framework for developing my cake php application.
How should I fix this problem?
Guys, I really need your help in this one. I am really stuck at this one. [:(]
prototype.js has to be :
loaded in the page (verify it's not in 404, for instance)
loaded in the page before the execution of your script
Which generally means you need to include prototype.js first, and, only after that, you can include your scripts.
As a sidenote : you are not using any other JS Framework in that page, of course...
Remember that any Event.observers need to be used in global
Event.observe(window,'loaded',f);
// or
Event.observe(document,'dom:loaded',f)
otherwise they will not work.
For me it looks like there's problem with linking to Prototype. Open firebug and try to see the contents of your script files - if you see html, that means something went terribly wrong :-)
