I've searched a few forums already and I haven't found a definitve answer. I'm aware that the XAMPP development for MAC OSX has been suspended, however I was hoping someone could outline the steps involved or point me to some other resources.
I'm currently using OSX 10.6.8, XAMPP 1.7.3, and PHP 5.3.1.
I guess this question should also expand to the updating of other components like phpmyadmin and mysql.
Thank you in advance!
I use MAMP and Apache/MySQL/PHP which works perfect on my mac
Maybe one of these will be easier to figure out since they are built for mac? Otherwise, sorry can't help!

I want to downgrade mysql 5.6.20 to 5.1, can anyone give me steps using phpmyadmin...or any other better way to downgrade it. I'm using windows 7 and xampp server. Any help is much appreciated.
I suggest you to take a dump of all your DB. Uninstall 5.6.20. Install 5.1 and restore your data.

I am new on php . i am currently on the project that have a php file contain approx 2500 line of code.
This script is working fine in localhost but on the server it take a lot of time to reload the page.
I want to know that is there any tool or website that find out the slow running code from php script.
Any help will be appreciated..
I strongly recommend using xdebug for that - it has an integrated profiling solution. You can then parse these files with Webgrind
If you use software like XAMPP or MAMP, xdebug could be already with it. There are also lots of useful information how to setup xdebug like here http://unitstep.net/blog/2009/01/26/getting-xdebug-to-work-with-apachexampp-to-debug-php/
Maybe the server is also slower than your local machine.
Xdebug is pretty much the standard when it comes to PHP.
Some profiler will help here. The best of known to me is Xdebug. It has plugins for many IDEs.

Basically, I have installed both WAMP and XAMPP (two different times) and none of them seem to display PHP, looking on the internet it must be Apache.
I dont have world web service thing active, I don't have Skype installed, I have even changed the port to 8080 and nothing seems to work.
Anyone know what is going on?
Used localhost:8080 it seems to have solved the problem.

I'm new to PHP & MYSQL.
I've installed MAMP on OSX lion,
I can't open PhpMyAdmin in my browser "Safari".
Thanks in advance.
Edit
I get URL NOT FOUND
The problem is that I can't figure out the correct URL !!!
I'd seriously recommend the free Sequel Pro instead – it has the same functionality, but is a million times nicer to use.

I am learning PHP and need to download the Apache server. I have a 64 bit pc, where can i download it, also using Windows Vista and also which one is recommended.
Sorry Instructor said not to use XAMP - forgot to mention
http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi
Two alternatives:
http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php
http://www.apachefriends.org/es/xampp.html
Many recommend xampp over wamp.
Download Xampp.
It is made exactly for your situation.
Includes php mysql apache and a ton of other stuff.
I recommend going with
http://www.easyphp.org/
or
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
no 64bit, only 32bit with ssl.
