I will create a dynamic page with content added and rearranged by JavaScript. Is it possible to create a jpg image of this content? - let's say, everything that is inside the container div will be generated to an image. If so, could anyone give me some good tips of this technique?
The traditional method is to run a "headless browser" on your server, "browse" to that url, and take a screenshot. It can be done to some accuracy on the client side in HTML5 browser, see this discussion:
Using HTML5/Canvas/JavaScript to take screenshots
This question may help:
Using HTML5/Canvas/JavaScript to take screenshots
and then this one:
convert canvas to jpeg image
The sequence of your algorithm would be something like:
create screenshot using canvas
convert the canvas screenshot to a
JPG file

I'm just wondering about a small problem I have. I'm creating a simple website with PHP, HTML and CSS. The user enters the dimensions of a rectangle into a form, and this all works perfectly. However, I'm unsure how to proceed.
The system should then use these dimensions (both stored as separate variables) to draw a rectangle of that size (in cm). The rectangle should be draw in a .pdf document, which the user can then download.
I'm a beginner, so sorry if there's anything wrong with this question.
You're going to want to start with looking into the html5 canvas element for drawing. There's plenty of tutorials online for you. As far as saving to pdf, see this: Convert canvas to PDF good luck.
Take a look at the fpdf extension available for php. Or even better and more consequent: use its unicode capable variant 'tfpdf'.
It allows you to generate a pdf document on the server side in a step by step way. You can control all details of that document. When finished you can return the document to the requesting client.
While I was looking for some info, I came across this image on a forum which i didn't understood how it worked. Its a JPG image which actually tells you your ip address and your browser. I think that maybe it was made by modifying htacess and replacing PHP for JPG, and with PHP generating the image dynamically but I'm not sure about it.
Would this be the way that this works?
Here is the image i saw:

Thanks
It is nothing but etching text on image. There are several options to do it. Using PHP see here and Java see here
yes this image is generating dynamically. It collects your info make a string and use some library to generate that image like in Captcha. php has its own library too for this purpose

Is there any way to programmatically create (client or server side (PHP)) a image from a specific DIV or a complete (web) page? I'm currently creating a web-site for free coupons and the idea is when the end-user clicks on the "Print" button, the app opens a new tab/window with all the selected coupons as a single image (JPG, PNG or etc..) in A4 format ready for printing. Each coupons has it's own data (Article name, price, description etc..) so I need it to be done programmatically over a coupon-template I designed.
I do not ask you to write code for me, just to suggest a solution I could use/develop. If not already exist, I will upload/publish it for free :)
Update: I did it with the PHP GD library :) Still not satisfied with the idea to use Images instead of PDF, because each printing results with different Coupon sizes (images) on different PC's. That's why PDF may would be a better solution. You can see/test it on demo.svikuponi.ba - Just select a few Coupons and click the PRINTAJ button above.
You cannot create image from div for sure but yes you can create dynamic images in php using its gd library.
Following links will help:

Here is a great way for you to create images on the client side: http://smus.com/screen-capture-for-chrome-os
You can take this and create a web app that will work nicely on webkit (for other browsers - I'll look at JS polyfills).
Did anyone mention html2canvas and/or jsfeedback ?
It create a page screenshot completely in javascript, then you can send to the server via ajax..
Obviously, CSS support lack some things.
In php, there is many image related functions like imagettftext() in GD library
for details, check this out http://php.net/manual/en/book.image.php
if GD is not enough, you can try imagick as well
for the template, you can try creating a true color handle in php from your file(image) and add the text part or something else with all kinds of effects and bar codes etc.
but in your case, i would suggest dynamic PDF creation since it would better with formatting instead of plain image, the pdf lib :
http://www.fpdf.org/
you could easily have a background image of your token/voucher and overlay the text using some php variables.
i believe it is possible to create a unique bar-code with php imaging too.
It is possible to get a screenshot from a webpage, but this is quite a hassle. You need to start a webbrowser to render the page and get a screenshot from that.
You are probably better of by parsing some specification and feeding it to a couple of GD or Imagick functions. This is less versatile, but easier to manage.
Currently I'm working on a project in which user of website can design a giftwall by drag and drop of gifts. Drag, drop and sorting works perfect and I'm able to store generated giftwall into database. On recipient side system lists all the gift images in the same sequence sender sent so it visually looks like a giftwall. I want to allow users to store this giftwall into a single image so they can store their giftwalls into image album. In current system it lists all individual gifts into a individual div resided in main wrapper div. How can I export this wrapper div to image so it looks same as HTML. Any help will really be appreciated. Waiting for reply.
Thanks!
I don't know if there is a way by using pure javascript, but you can generate the image on your server and send it back.
I have never heard of saving browser's viewport to an image file via JS. I think it's only possible vie creating SVG or using HTML5 canvas.
I asked exactly the same thing a while back.
HTML div to screenshot?
The conclusion is... it is not possible with JS. Questionably possible from PHP also.
Use can use an online service for screen capture, like browsershots, but its not in real-time, and doesn't render everything well.
I used a workaround for my situation.
Recreated all the DOM/HTML elements which create the image (load parameters form database, and generate the DOM). Wrap everything in one container div, and zoom it out to the size you need.
I know, not the prettiest solution, but the only solution I could get to work.
Using <canvas> you can create image that will looks similar to how it looks on the page. Try it this way:
Get the size of wrapper <div> and create the same canvas element. Then get the position of each image in the div wrapper and draw that image on canvas at the same position with the same size.
Things may be harder if you need to draw additional controls, like button or textbox.
All modern desktop browsers suport <canvas> now.
You can either use html2canvas, which isn't perfect yet. Or store browser offsets of elements in div and then with GD or ImageMagick combine them into an image
Maybe this could be of use: http://html2canvas.hertzen.com/
On my site I have given an option to user to choose thier profile image
Type link of an image
Image is a url link, and first I want it to resize to 400x300 (image's original size doesn't matter), and then display it on my web page.
Something like below:
<img src="http://mywebsite.com/resize.php?image=http://someotherurl.com/upload/image2.jpg&width=400&height=300" />
anyone knows this kind of script, please tell me how to solve this issue.
Thanks
A recent post:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1302464/php-image-resize-my-upload-script
has some code and comments that may give you some pointers. Otherwise may I suggest
http://www.white-hat-web-design.co.uk/articles/php-image-resizing.php.
Good luck!
If you have the GD extenstion, you can use imagecopyresampled (the documentation also features some examples). However, if the image to be resized is large and there is a low memory limit on your server, you may run out of memory.
I don't have ready to use source code, but it should look like:
Load image pointed by image parameter into object of ImageMagick (or other graphics library).
Resize it.
Send content to output stream.
Optionally you could:
Check if loaded file is image (plus other validation checks).
Save resized image on disk and serve it from disk next time (if you do it often).
Check docs of you favorite graphics library used in PHP for details.
Good luck!
Use the Class called - class.upload.php.
Find it at: PHP Classes
We use it at all times in many of our work.
The name is deceptive but actually it is an uploader as well as image processor. It has a very big list of functionality for resizing images, adding text to images, converting formats, etc. etc.
There is sample code which shows how to read an Image from server, modify it and finally send it directly to browser without having to create a temp file on server.
