How to retrieve newsfeeds posted by FB apps using FB graph api? - php

I've been sarching for hours on FB graph api docs and google but couldn't find a solution. Let me explain my question. Using the FB graph API, we are able to retrieve user's newsfeeds, but how do we retrieve user's newsfeeds that are posted by FB apps, such as game scores/achievements? I know that it's possible to retrieve user's newsfeeds created by a specific app by adding filter=app_[app_id], but is there a way to filter newsfeeds that are created by any apps?
Currently what I do is that, if a newsfeed contains a link that links to app.facebook.com, I assume it's posted by an FB app. I'm not sure if this assumption is safe and is there a better way to achieve my goal?
P.S. I use php SDK so a php solution is highly appreciated. Solutions using other SDK are also appreciated. I'll try to make a conversion by myself.
Thanks in advance,
Kaze

Currently what I do is that, if a newsfeed contains a link that links to app.facebook.com, I assume it's posted by an FB app.
Posts in /me/feed that have been made by/using an app should have a property "application" set, which contains the app name, namespace and id – so by just looking for that you should be able to determine if it was posted by an app or manually.

Take the likes from users of my app and file them into csv

I need to be able to consolidate all the likes from users that use my Facebook app into an Excel or .csv file. I can have the user authenticate within my Facebook app, but is there a way to see the likes for all users of an app using Open Graph or some other Facebook tool? I'm certain that someone else must have had this problem, and I'm hoping that one of you can help me out!
I've been trying to run FQL queries to bring up likes, but don't have any experience with PHP so it has been miserable so far. Any ideas?
There's no way to retrieve a list of users of your app - you'll need to manually build that as users authorise the app see this question for more information
Assuming you have permission to access a user's likes connection - access /USER_ID/likes and parse the response, saving it to a file in accordance with whatever language you're using's syntax (google is your friend here)
Note that your use of the data is subject to Facebook's policies and user's consent in accordance with your privacy policy and sharing it with third parties may be illegal (i am not a lawyer, this is not official advice, etc etc)
Here is the problem with that the application type does not have a like connection. Application Object GraphAPI This is inconvenient when you are looking to gather data on the users that like it.
OR were you talking about the likes endpoint of the user object? That you can gather but I dont think it is what you are looking for. It is shown here Graph Explorer Example - user's likes

php: retrieving infos from facebook group

i'm looking for a way to code some statistics for a facebook group which displays infos like most active member, most commented post and such.
i've tried to parse the group's email-notifications, unfortunately facebook doesn't notify on each event.
so i was thinking about curling directly from the facebook group.
is there a way to do this or is it possible through the facebook api?
thanks
I think your best bet is Facebook Grap API.
Check this Graph API - Group : http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/api/group/
Hope this help!

Easy way to get facebook statuses from a particular page in PHP?

I need to grab the statuses from a Facebook page via PHP to display on the page. I don't want to have people logging in to facebook just for my script to grab the statuses from the page since it is a public page and isn't restricted. I have the Facebook API for PHP in my projects directory but have no idea how to use it to do what I want it to. Could someone give me a code example of how I'd do this? Thanks!
It's really a straight forward task if you follow the documentation. Since /PAGE_ID/feed requires any valid access_token, your app access_token is enough to get the data:
Open the Graph API Explorer (I'm querying coca-cola/feed)
Get an app access_token from the Access Token Tool and use it instead of yours
You're done!

How to know if someone is fan of my facebook page?

I know this subject has been done already over and over. but... i must be stupid so i'll try to figure out my problem simply.
I have a facebook page, let s say that one :
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Medieval-Forgecom/302734029745018
with a few fan poeple.
now on my website i would like to give a discount to poeple who are fan of that page.
So i tried the php api (with an application id and secret) before discovering that this is NOT what i want as my page is not an app and has no appId neither secret. Am i misunderstanding something here?
So i m wondering how in php i can know if someone is fan or not...
If it is not possible i could use the javascript api to make this check ( wich is quite bad, it should be done somewhere via php) but even this way i get trouble with the deprecated api and the code refering to javascript inside the facebook website.
in a nutshell, i'm lost.
thanks for your time and attention.
Do some research on the concept of "fan-gate". I think this is what you're looking for.

There are three ways of using Facebook API. Social plugins are widgets such as comments or like buttons. You can put them into your site directly and easily. And then there is the Graph API. First way of using this API is to create a whole standalone Facebook application, such as Farmwille. Second way is to use it only at your site, out of the Facebook frame. Regardless of the type of your usage, you need to register an application on Facebook, so Facebook API can authorize you. Without that you can't use the API. You don't need to create a real standalone app if you want only to use the API at your own site, but you must register it and this registration is just called Facebook application. It can be virtual application representing your site.

Pulling Public Facebook Posts Into PHP Page

Last December, I set up an app for a client who wanted to pull their public facebook posts into the footer of their website.
I was using this URL to pull the message, create time and permalink and when I wrote it, all was good:
http://api.facebook.com/method/fql.query?query=SELECT%20message,%20created_time,%20permalink%20FROM%20stream%20WHERE%20source_id=138631878804%20AND%20message%3C%3E%27%27%20limit%203
Today they reported that it was no longer pulling their information. I put that url into a browser and the result is "Requires valid signature"
I've gathered from google that I need something called an access_token, also I've seen where I can use the php sdk but then I need an appId and a secret token.
At this point, I've read so many different sources that I am thoroughly confused. The FQL query above represents the full extent of my Facebook programming experience. It looks like maybe I want the Graph API, but I don't want anyone to have to sign into anything.
Can one of you guys who are more versed in the voodoo of facebook nudge me in the right direction to do this:
From PHP, pull public messages from the stream table without forcing a user to log into facebook.
Thanks!!
To pull posts from a publicly visible Page on Facebook, you can use any valid access token. For most sites managing a page, this will be a page access token retrieved via one of the page's admins authorising your app to have access to their pages, but that might be overkill for your use-case.
Probably the quickest solution is to just create a new App ID for the site, get the app access token for that App (see 'App Login' on https://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/ ) and then use that access token to retrieve the posts.
I found several links all from a simple Google search.
