I've tried looking for a solution to this issue for a few days now and am getting quite confused.
Aim:
To have a PHP server ("Server A") communicate directly to another PHP
server ("Server B") when Server A is visited by user. It then sends a
query string to Server B to add in to Server B's database.
Full story:
A visitor will visit Server A and register to their website, as part
of their registration Server A will write to Server A's database with
all the visitors information. At this point I'd like Server A to load
a .php file on Server B and send a query string with it, for example:
http://example.com/api/add.php?name=Craig&age=21&key=32r932r9832yr813hr813rh1389ry13r7y31r.
Server B, having a PHP file requested from it, will take the variables
and run the script on add.php (take the variables and add it to it's
database).
Important note: I don't want the client machine to know this, initially I wanted to use JQUERY but realised this sends the request from the client machine and not the server directly.
What is the best way to do this?
Many thanks in advance!
Craig
Learn cURL. Here is an example to get you started:
<?php
$ch = curl_init('http://example.com/api/add.php?name=Craig&age=21&key=32r932r9832yr813hr813rh1389ry13r7y31r');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
$response = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
?>

I was curious to know if there was a way to download a file from SERVER A and put it on SERVER B where SERVER A has the ability to dynamically change what's in the downloaded file.
The point behind it is that I'm trying to build an error handler for a tool that will be used when a file that is a needed part of a tool goes missing. It would be like WordPress realizing there is a file missing on your site and your site sends a request to wordpress.com to get the missing files like this:
(SERVER B): PHP spits out error on include
(SERVER B): PHP tries to get a file installer for the missing files from SERVER A by saying SERVER B is missing FILE A, FILE B, FILE C, etc...
for the step above I was thinking it could be done using this:
file_put_contents("missing_installer.php", "http://SERVER_A.com/mi_inst_installer.php?query-asking-for-missing-item(s)=missing-item", 'r'));
NOTE (only if you don't understand what the above code does): The above code is supposed to tell SERVER A's PHP file, mi_inst_installer.php, to spit out data (the installer) and put it into file, missing_installer.php, on SERVER B
(SERVER B): PHP installs missing files using the newly obtained missing_installer.php
Any ideas on what to do?
You can also use cURL for dynamics on SERVER A's Side:
function curl($url){
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL,$url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1);
$return = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
return $return;
}
file_put_contents('missing_installer.php', curl('http://SERVER_A.com/mi_inst_installer.php?query-asking-for-missing-item(s)=missin-item'));
Jacky's answer is good only if allow_url_fopen is set to 1.
also use PHP's reference for cURL transfer options (lets you customize how the the request is sent and/or returned). Also, it's a good idea to get used to how cURL works generally; see the other PHP reference (client URL library)
try something like this:
$mycontent = file_get_contents('http://SERVER_A.com/mi_inst_installer.php?query-asking-for-missing-item(s)=missin-item');
file_put_contents('missing_installer.php', $mycontent));
you need to get (using file_get_contents()) the contents of the downloaded file first and then put it into the second parameter of file_put_contents() first.
I would like to make a web interface in PHP to see the FreeSWITCH activities (calls, etc), possibly hosted on a different server than the one where FS is running.
I've seen the server status on the FS server using command line (php single_command.php status), but now I would like to see this status from another server.
When I try to copy ESL.php file to this remote server and try to check the status, I get this error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function new_ESLconnection() in
/var/www/freeswitch/ESL.php on line 127
This is my index.php file:
<?php
ini_set('display_errors', 1);
$password = "ClueCon";
$port = "8021";
$host = "192.168.2.12";
require_once('ESL.php');
set_time_limit(0); // Remove the PHP time limit of 30 seconds for completion due to loop watching events
// Connect to FreeSWITCH
$sock = new ESLconnection($host, $port, $password);
// We want all Events (probably will want to change this depending on your needs)
$sock->sendRecv("status");
// Grab Events until process is killed
while($sock->connected()){
$event = $sock->recvEvent();
print_r($event->serialize());
}
?>
I undestand that the webserver doesn't have FreeSWITCH installed, so the error message is obvious, but i don't see how to access to this information from this webserver.
Thank you for your help.
Depending upon your need you can use either Inbound or Outbound socket. I do not know much about PHP and FS Event Socket but yeah tried enough with python. I highly recommended to go through thislink.
So if you just want to do small task like initiating a call, bridging any two given number etc i think you should go with Inbound socket(making cli command from your web server to freeswitch server) or mod_xml_rpc.
And if you want to have full control of everything that happens on FS server like showing live call status and modifying their states or say a complete interactive telephony dashboard then you should go with Outbound socket.(Your FS server will send all events to your web server.)
However in your case problem is I think you did not properly build the php ESL module.
this link might help you installing ESL
Rather than using ESL, you might want to consider using the XMLRPC. The connection is very straight forward:
https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Freeswitch_XML-RPC
The credentials for the XMLRPC are in your autoloads_configs/xml_rpc.conf.xml
I tried using curl to post to a local file and it fails. Can it be done? my two management systems are on the same server and it seems unnecessary to have it traverse the entire internet system just to go to a file on the same hard drive.
Using localhost didn't do the trick.
I also tried to $_SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT].'/dir/to/file.php' using post data. It's for an API that is encrypted, so I'm not sure exactly how it works. It's for a billing system I have and I just realized that it sends data back (API).
It's simply post data and an XML response. I could write an html form tag and input fields and get the same result, but there isn't really anything else to know.
The main question is: Does curl have the ability to post to a local file or not?
it is post data. it's for an API that is encrypted so i'm not sure exactly how it works
Without further details nobody can answer then what you should do.
But if it's indeed a POST receival script on the local server, then you can send a POST request to it using the URL:
$url = "https://$_SERVER[SERVER_NAME]/path/to/api.php";
And then receive its output from the cURL call.
$data = curl($url)->post(1)->postdata(array("billing"=>1234345))
->returntransfer(1)->exec();
// (you would use the cumbersome curl_setopt() calls instead)
So you get a XML or JSON or whatever response.
If they're on the same drive, then use file operations instead:
file_put_contents('/path/to/the/file', $contents);
Using CURL should only be done if you absolutely NEED the http layer to get involved for some reason, or if you're dealing with a remote server. Using HTTP would also mean you need to have the 'target' script be able to handle a file upload plus whatever other data you need to send, and then that script would end up having to do file operations ANYWAYS, so in effect you've gone on a round-the-world flight just so you can move from your living room to the kitchen.
file://locafilespec.ext worked for me. I had 2 files in the same folder on a linux box, in a folder that is not served by my webserver, and I used the file:// wrapper to post to file://test.php and it worked great. it's not pretty, but it'll work for dev until I move it to it's final resting place.
Does curl have the ability to post to a local file or not?
To curl local file, you need to setup HTTP server as file:// won't work, so:
npm install http-server -g
Then run the HTTP server in the folder where is the file:
$ http-server
See: Using node.js as a simple web server.
Then test the curl request from the command-line to localhost like:
curl http://127.0.0.1:8081/file.html
Then you can do the same in PHP.
I need to implement a way to make POST calls to pages located on the same server or in another server. We cannot use include because the files that we are calling usually call different databases or have functions with the same name.
I've been trying to implement this using curl, and while it works perfectly when calling files from another server, I get absolutely nothing when making a call to the same server where the file is.
EDIT TO ADD SOME CODE:
A simplified version of what I'm doing:
File1.php
<?php
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "www.myserver.com/File2.php");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FRESH_CONNECT, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, true);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo $result;
?>
File2.php
<?php
echo "I'M IN!!";
?>
After calling File1.php, I get nothing, but if File2.php is in another server then I get a result.
Any help?
I tried using both the server URL (http...) and the total address of the files (/home/wwww....)
Be aware that if you're issuing the CURL request to your own site, you're using the default session handler, and the page you're requesting via CURL uses the same session as the page that's generating the request, you'll run into a deadlock situation.
The default session handler locks the session file for the duration of the page request. When you try to request another page using the same session, that subsequent request will hang until the request times out or the session file becomes available. Since you're doing an internal CURL, the script running CURL will hold a lock on the session file, and the CURL request can never complete as the target page can never load the session.
Because when you tried to request to the local server with the public ip, apache couldn't resolve to its local domain. So you have to check which local ip apache is using for that domain. Then you need to edit the /etc/hosts file and add the new row with local ip plus your domain. For example:
My Local ip for that domain in apache's virtual host is : 172.190.1.120 and my domain is mydomain.com
So I will add:
172.190.1.120 mydomain.com
Then your curl will work properly.
You should refactor your code. In addition to what Marc B mentioned, this approach will unnecessarily slow down your script (potentially by a large margin) and cause lots of confusion. No offense, but this is just an incredibly hacky fix for bad logic.
I'm using a PHP script to detect of a referral URL is a proxy. This is a very simplified version but it works great.
The problem is that I'm trying to use the same script on my other web server but for reasons am not copying over the script. What I'm doing instead is using a get_file_contents.
My problem is that when I use get_file_contents it detects it as a proxy. Is there anyway around this, possibly by changing the port?
<?php $stop = file_get_contents("http://mysite.com/file.php"); echo $stop; ?>
Any help would be great, Thanks!
file_get_contents with a remote URL is very different from a local URL -- you are actually running the script on mysite.com and simply getting the output of that script on your local server. This actually sends another HTTP request to mysite.com, so the referrer for that request is different from the referrer for your original request.
