Basically i am trying to create a validation for the form. I want it to check if it can connect to the DB and if true to proceed to another page and if false to return an error.
I am inputting the wrong details to make it just display the error but somehow it always returns "TRUE" on page load... and everytime i click the submit it doesnt do anything regardless of my entry...
thx
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
var u = $('#username');
var s = $('#server');
var p = $('#password');
$('#iValForm').submit(
$.post("connect.php", {u: u.val(),p: p.val(),s: s.val()}, function(fd){
if (fd == "true"){
alert("Is: " + fd);
return false;
} // if1
if (fd == "false"){
alert("Is2: " + fd);
return false;
} // if2
} //post function
) //Post
) //submit
}) //document
</script>
<form class="iValForm" id="iValForm" method="post">
<fieldset>
<legend id="error"> </legend>
<p>
<label for="username">Username </label>
<input id="username" name="username" class="required" /> </input>
</p>
<p>
<label for="password">Password</label>
<input id="password" name="password" class="required"/> </input>
</p>
<p>
<label for="server">Server</label>
<input id="server" name="server" class="required"/> </input>
</p>
<p>
<input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"/>
</p>
</fieldset>
</form>
Connect.php
<?php
$user = $_POST['u'];
$password = $_POST['p'];
$server = $_POST['s'];
#$con = mysql_connect ($server, $user, $password);
if (!$con) {
$response = "false";
echo $response;
} else {
$response = "true";
echo $response;
}
?>
change your php script
if (!$con) {
$response = 'false';
echo $response;
} else {
$response = 'true';
echo $response;
}
and in javascript
if (data == 'false')

I am trying to call a function with arguments from another class. The class with the function I need to call is auth.class.php (it's pretty long so I've shorten to the relevant class). I've a index.php file with jQuery form that when post calls reg.php and sends data their. I want to call the register function in auth.class.php file from the reg.php
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I think the ajax might be the problem but any help will be appreciated.
auth.class.php
<?php
class Auth {
public function register($email, $username, $password, $repeatpassword)
{
$return = array();
$return['code'] = 400;
if ($this->isBlocked()) {
$return['code'] = 0;
return $return;
} else {
$validateEmail = $this->validateEmail($email);
$validateUsername = $this->validateUsername($username);
$validatePassword = $this->validatePassword($password);
if ($validateEmail['error'] == 1) {
$return['message'] = $validateEmail['message'];
return $return;
} elseif ($validateUsername['error'] == 1) {
$return['message'] = $validateUsername['message'];
return $return;
} elseif ($validatePassword['error'] == 1) {
$return['message'] = $validatePassword['message'];
return $return;
} elseif($password !== $repeatpassword) {
$return['message'] = "password_nomatch";
return $return;
} else {
if (!$this->isEmailTaken($email)) {
if (!$this->isUsernameTaken($username)) {
$addUser = $this->addUser($email, $username, $password);
if($addUser['error'] == 0) {
$return['code'] = 200;
$return['message'] = "register_success";
return $return;
} else {
$return['message'] = $addUser['message'];
return $return;
}
} else {
$this->addAttempt();
$this->addNewLog("", "REGISTER_FAIL_USERNAME", "User attempted to register new account with the username : {$username} -> Username already in use");
$return['message'] = "username_taken";
return $return;
}
} else {
$this->addAttempt();
$this->addNewLog("", "REGISTER_FAIL_EMAIL", "User attempted to register new account with the email : {$email} -> Email already in use");
$return['message'] = "email_taken";
return $return;
}
}
}
}
}

This is my the php file that's placing the call the auth.class.php function.
<?php
include_once "password.php";
require_once "auth.class.php";
$mail = $_POST[email];
$usn = $_POST[username];
$pswd = $_POST[password];
$cpswd = $_POST[repeatpassword];
$register = new Auth();
$register ->register($mail, $usn, $pswd, $cpswd);
echo $return;
?>
Make index.php all the code is here and ajax function also here and make calls.php which is call by ajax function and calls.php file call your class.auth.php file.
you didn't assign the value returned by your function to anything.
Try this:
$return= $register ->register($mail, $usn, $pswd, $cpswd);
echo $return;
Here's the updated code that fixed the problem. I wasn't passing the data as an array serializeArray and also made some changes in the reg.php class as well.

Fist off, I doubt the problem is in the PHP function. I've tested it before implementing jQuery calls (I used it directly in the html action attribute). My suspicion is that the problem is occurring in the jQuery function (I just started using jQuery and am not really familiar with it).
Note that I have removed the token input for the time being in the php file. I simply want to get it working before I deal with that (there is another problem with that part).
I don't believe that the post variables are being sent to the php file correctly. Also, I don't believe my jQuery function as it is is properly receiving the echo response from my php function either, in the sense that it will display it as html - provided that it worked to begin with.
Any input is appreciated.
$(document).ready(function login() {
That line is the problem.
Probably the login function is not available to rest of the page. It's just a name given to anonymous function which is parameter to $(document).ready function.
You have a scope problem.
Move the login function out separately:
function loginMessage(data) {
$('.header').append(data);
};
function login() {
$('.login-form').submit(function () {
var formData = $(this).serialize();
$("input").prop("disabled", true);
$.post('VRC_LoginProcess.php', formData, loginMessage);
});
}
$(document).ready(function () {
login();
});
EDIT:
in your login function, you are registering a handler to your login form's submit event. And it has to be registered only once.
So, remove `onsubmit=login()` from your form's attributes, and you are good.
Slightly Changed your HTML to this
<form name="login-form" class="login-form" method="post">
<div class="header">
<h1>Sign In</h1>
</div>
<div class="content">
<input type="hidden" name="siteToken" value="$token" />
<input id="username" name="username" type="text" class="input username" placeholder="Username" required="required" />
<div class="user-icon"></div>
<input id="password" name="password" type="password" class="input password" placeholder="Password" required="required" />
<div class="pass-icon"></div>
</div>
<div class="footer">
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Login" class="button" />
</div>
</form>
and Javascript
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.login-form').submit(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var formData = $(this).serialize();
$("input").prop("disabled", true);
$.post('VRC_LoginProcess.php', formData, loginMessage);
function loginMessage(data) {
$('.header').append(data);
}
});
});
this is my first post and i'm rather new to php + ajax.
I have most of my coding set up only problem now is that when i press the submit button an notification shows up that only should show up when the text fields aren't empty.
This is my code:
<head><script>
$(document).ready(function() {
// bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function
$('#ContactForm').ajaxForm(function() {
alert("Thank you for subscribing to SHCA");
document.forms["ContactForm"].reset();
});
});
</script> </head>
followed by some php coding:
<?php
if(strlen($_POST['name']) > 0 AND strlen($_POST['email']) > 0)
{
if(isset($_POST['submit']))
{
$hostdb = '';
$namedb = '';
$userdb = '';
$passdb = '';
$conn = mysqli_connect($hostdb , $userdb, $passdb ,$namedb);
$sql = "INSERT INTO subscribers (name, email) VALUES('$_POST[name]', '$_POST[email]')";
if (!mysqli_query($conn, $sql))
{
die('Error: ' .mysql_error($conn));
}
if (!mysqli_ping($conn)) {
echo 'Lost connection, exiting after query #1';
exit;
}
mysqli_close($conn);
}}
else
{
?>
<form id="ContactForm" action="" method="post">
<label for="author">Name:</label> <input type="text" id="name" name="name" class="required input_field float_r" />
</br>
</br>
<label for="email">Email:</label> <input type="text" id="email" name="email" class="validate-email required input_field float_r" />
<div class="cleaner h10"></div>
<input type="submit" value="Subscribe" id="submit" name="submit" class="submit_btn float_l" />
</form>
<?php } ?>
hope anyone here is able to tell me what i should do to only show the "Thank you for subscribing to SHCA" message when the textfields aren't empty
final anwser Dereck forgot the '' in the objects so shout out to dereck for helping me!
$(document).ready(function() {
// bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function
$('#ContactForm').ajaxForm(function() {
if( !$('#name').val()) {
alert("please enter your name");
}
if(!$('#email').val()) {
alert("plese enter your email adress");
}
else{
alert("Thank you for subscribing to SHCA");
}
document.forms["ContactForm"].reset();
});
});
You need to check the contents of the fields before submitting to the server, a simple script method can check before you submit. If the fields are empty then display an error messge and don't submit the form.
function SubmitDetails()
{
if(window.ContactForm.name.value == "")
{
window.alert("Please enter a name");
return;
}if(window.ContactForm.email.value == "")
{
window.alert("Please enter an email" );
return;
}
window.ContactForm.submit();
}
This should do it without having to do a refresh
$(document).ready(function() {
// bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function
$('#ContactForm').ajaxForm(function() {
if( !$(#name).val() || !$(#email).val()) {
//don't display
}else{
alert("Thank you for subscribing to SHCA");
}
document.forms["ContactForm"].reset();
});
});
I'm trying to figure out where I'm supposed to include a js code where I disable the form submit button when the passwords don't match.
html:
<form name=passform class="form-horizontal-signup" method="post" action="login.php" >
<fieldset>
<legend>Sign Up for MyVibes</legend>
<input type="password" class="input-xlarge" placeholder="Password" name="password" id="password" onKeyUp="verify.check()" />
<input type="password" class="input-xlarge" placeholder="Retype Password" name="repassword" id="repassword" onKeyUp="verify.check()"/></fieldset>
<div id="password_result"> </div><br />
<button type="submit" input name="btnSignUp" id="btnSignUp" class="btn btn-inverse" disabled="disabled"/>Sign Up</button>
</form>
</div>
getting the variables:
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">
verify = new verifynotify();
verify.field1 = document.passform.password;
verify.field2 = document.passform.repassword;
verify.result_id = "password_result";
verify.match_html = "Passwords match.";
verify.nomatch_html = "Please make sure your passwords match.";
// Update the result message
verify.check();
//
</SCRIPT>
and the function:
function verifynotify(field1, field2, result_id, match_html, nomatch_html) {
this.field1 = field1;
this.field2 = field2;
this.result_id = result_id;
this.match_html = match_html;
this.nomatch_html = nomatch_html;
this.check = function() {
// Make sure we don't cause an error
// for browsers that do not support getElementById
if (!this.result_id) { return false; }
if (!document.getElementById){ return false; }
r = document.getElementById(this.result_id);
if (!r){ return false; }
if (this.field1.value != "" && this.field1.value == this.field2.value) {
r.innerHTML = this.match_html;
$("#btnSignUp").prop("disabled", false);
} else {
r.innerHTML = this.nomatch_html;
$("#btnSignUp").prop("disabled", true);
}
}
}
maybe i misplace where i'm supposed to put the $("#btnSignUp").prop("disabled", true); code?
Try
$("#btnSignUp").attr("disabled", "disabled");
this should works..
if (this.field1.value != "" && this.field1.value == this.field2.value) {
r.innerHTML = this.match_html;
$("#btnSignUp").removeAttr("disabled");
} else {
r.innerHTML = this.nomatch_html;
$("#btnSignUp").attr("disabled", "disabled");
}
I need to display the alert saying thanx your msg is received but this doesnot works so please hel me out how to do.Is there coding error or what i coudnt get to it.i would pe pleased if someone helps me out.thankyou

You can't mix JavaScript and PHP like that. The PHP will be parsed on the served before the page is served up to the user. Including it inside of your JavaScript else block will have no effect, since the code will be run when the page is generated anyway.
You should look into the use of AJAX.
