I have a protected twitter account but I want to be able to show a list of my most recent tweets on my website.
I'm prepared to dive in to the twitter docs but I just wanted a heads up to know if its possible?
Would my script have to autenticate with my account or is there a way to allow access to my twitter account from a particular IP?

Yes, definitely possible. I don't know if there is a simpler solution, but one way would be to create a new app on Twitter which your account authorizes. In the authorization process, Twitter will give you access tokens for your specific account. Store your access tokens in a database. Read your tweets from a PHP widget say, which uses the Twitter PHP API, and uses your access tokens to display it.
When you are retrieving your tweets, it doesn't matter if it is protected or not as long as you have authorized that specific application.
Simply put, the widget that displays your tweets is a Twitter application that you have authorized. (one-time authentication)
Well I don't think so you can read anything from Protected account.
I was reading few articles about the same issue and here is the alternative solution if you would like to give a try. (I personally didn't tried it so leaving up to you to give shot)

Here's a few things you will need in order to read an FB timeline:
Facebook assigns a unique and fairly long ID to any account, whether profile or fan page. Users, however, don’t use this ID to identify pages. So the first thing to do in order to read a timeline is match the public name of the page (or user) to the underlying Facebook ID.
Getting the ID of the account for which you intend to read the timeline is only the first step. You also need to be authenticated to access the feed.
Once acquired, the access token can be saved to a cookie and used for every further operation until it expires.

Can I get a link to some sort of api that allows people to add their facebook account (once) and then automatically post what they posted on my site on their facebook newsfeed (the sort of thing that happens when you connect your facebook account to your twitter account) .I've searched and can't seem to get exactly what I want
What you want is pretty common and if you searched you clearly didn't do a good job on the search.
Using the Facebook PHP SDK is pretty straight forward. There is a PHP Library available with a demo of the functionality you want. In your case you need to do some stuff more, so I'll explain globally what you should do:
Get the Facebook PHP SDK and load it into your website, determine what scope you need to perform the actions what you are going to do, in your case you need to have access to their timeline which is called the publish_stream scope. In order to get the Facebook PHP SDK working you need to create an app at http://developers.facebook.com
If a user grants access you need to save the authentication token that the user provides and save it in your database for later use. I'm not 100% sure how long they are valid, I think it's maximum of 30 days at the moment, but you have the ability to refresh the toking in the requests you make (correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while..)
Everytime an action is done using the Facebook API you inject the usertoken in the request, thus performing the "post" action onto their timeline.

I have a contest App. And many users have installed the app. I have stored the offline_access tokens of these users. I want to send a message to all users of app at the end of contest. What is the best way to do it. Because when I do it in a while loop the page never loads and browser just shows loading animation gif on tab.
You don't even need the user access tokens to accomplish something similar to what you're trying to do.
First off, mass-wall posting is both a violation of the Facebook Platform Policies (specifically IV.2, IV.3), but it's also really spammy and users will react negatively, probably blocking your app and ultimately it may get banned from Facebook. So don't do that.
Instead, you should utilise the intended social channel for notifying users of new content, App to user Requests.
This is pretty simple to do, as per the Graph API docs for apprequests you just make the following API call:

Where USERID is each user's Facebook ID and APPTOKEN is always your applications unique access token (see the documentation here if you do not know how to obtain one of those). You will also need to include parameters such as message, which you can read more about in the docs.
I've seen there is some other discussion about this, however, none of the other threads I've read have targetted my situation.
For one, I do not need to get any Tweets from Twitter. I only need to send to Twitter.
For another, I don't need to have multiple accounts or different Twitter users. I can already ensure the page will only be seen by the one authorized user, so I can save any necessary login information in one configuration file and be done.
I am only posting occasionally from one web site, to one Twitter feed, and only one user will be logged onto the the web site that will send the tweet.
I am hoping to find a simple tutorial or script that can allow me to cut to the bare bones and just send tweets to my Twitter account.
However, all the tutorials and scripts I've seen so far have been too elaborate, handling logins, sessions, authenticating multiple users, and so on.
Is there any way I can get simple oAuth PHP code to accomplish what I'm describing?

Last December, I set up an app for a client who wanted to pull their public facebook posts into the footer of their website.
I was using this URL to pull the message, create time and permalink and when I wrote it, all was good:

Today they reported that it was no longer pulling their information. I put that url into a browser and the result is "Requires valid signature"
I've gathered from google that I need something called an access_token, also I've seen where I can use the php sdk but then I need an appId and a secret token.
At this point, I've read so many different sources that I am thoroughly confused. The FQL query above represents the full extent of my Facebook programming experience. It looks like maybe I want the Graph API, but I don't want anyone to have to sign into anything.
Can one of you guys who are more versed in the voodoo of facebook nudge me in the right direction to do this:
From PHP, pull public messages from the stream table without forcing a user to log into facebook.

To pull posts from a publicly visible Page on Facebook, you can use any valid access token. For most sites managing a page, this will be a page access token retrieved via one of the page's admins authorising your app to have access to their pages, but that might be overkill for your use-case.
Probably the quickest solution is to just create a new App ID for the site, get the app access token for that App (see 'App Login' on https://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/ ) and then use that access token to retrieve the posts.
