.htaccess Remove PHP get data from URL - php

Well I'm making profile pages so right now it looks like this
http://example.com/random/?user=Robert
What I want to do is remove ?user= from the URL so the page appears as
http://example.com/random/Robert
Iv'e searched and I can't find anything working for me.
Thanks!

Based on http://statichtml.com/2010/mod-rewrite-baseon-on-query-string.html this should do the trick:
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^user=(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^random$ random/$1 [NC,L,R=301]

The first step is to make all of your links in this form http://example.com/random/Robert, then in the htaccess file in your document root, add:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^random/(.+)$ /random/?user=$1 [L]
But to handle 301 redirects to your old URLs, you can include this:
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /random/\?user=([^\ ]+)
RewriteRule ^random/$ /random/%1 [R=301,L]

How can i redirect /?lang=en to /en?

I'm having trouble redirecting a multilingual website one page. My redirection to htaccess doesn't operate properly. I need assistance with how this can be done. In my htaccess, when I add these two lines
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^lang=en$
RewriteRule ^ /en? [R=301,L]
redirect working, but mysite.com/en show 404 not found. Someone help me with this?
Your redirect rule as shown in question is working fine. Bot you also need a rewrite rule to handle /en:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} ^$
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^lang=([a-z]{2})$
RewriteRule ^ /%1? [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z]{2})/?$ ?lang=$1 [QSA,L]
If your browsers ends up at mysite.com/en, your redirection does work, so your question is not how to redirect, but why there's no content at /en on your site. You need to investigate that.

Redirecting existing URLs to SEO Friendly URLs

I have came accross a problem that every .htaccess query I've tried wasn't worked out ! I have URLs like this:
http://www.example.com/index.php?x=product
And I want to change it to a user friendly URL like this:
http://www.example.com/product/
Or it can be:
http://www.example.com/product.php
I've tried this code below:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^x=product$
RewriteRule ^index.php.*$ http://www.example.com/product.php? [R=302,L]
Now, it is redirecting perfectly, but this is not the problem. I've used this for only SEO so I must include http://www.example.com/index.php?x=product in the product.php file. Any help can be precious, thanks...
You can use this code in your DOCUMENT_ROOT/.htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /index\.php\?x=([^\s&]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1/? [R=302,L,NE]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/.]+)/?$ index.php?x=$1 [L,QSA]
This will redirect /index.php?x=product to /product/ and will rewrite it internally to /index.php?x=product in 2nd rule.
You don't need to put anything in the product.php file. Make sure there is a .htaccess in the directory that has the files you want to make url/seo friendly.
To have it SEO friendly make sure its in this format
http://www.example.com/product/ not http://www.example.com/product.php
if you must have a file extension, have it in http://www.example.com/products.html (you want to tell the search engine the page isn't dynamic although it is to get better pagerank)
Insert this in your .htaccess
RewriteRule /(.*)/$ products.php?x=$1
the (.*) pulls the elements out and puts them in variables $1

url rewrite and redirect - php

I recently developed a web site using php which accepts a id as its input via get.
http://website.com/profile.php?id=123. its the old fashion way, I've seen sites use pretty url's like http://website.com/username.html
So in order to archive this, i managed to do some research and end up with this code blow.
Also i'm passing the username in the query string.
http://website.com/profile.php?id=123&username=test_user
the parameter ID is only used as a input for the profile.php
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /profile.php [NC]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^id=([^&]+)&username=([^&]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^.* http://%{HTTP_HOST}/%2.html [R=301,L]
The final output i seek is http://website.com/username.html
Is their anything wrong in this ? this doesn't seem to work. Am i doing something wrong ? if so please be kind to let me know where my error lies. Thank you.
Try this rule:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^profile/([^/\.]+)/([^/\.]+).html/?$ profile.php?id=$1&username=$2 [L]
then you should be able to use
http://website.com/profile/123/username.html
as the URL. You can ignore the profile part but I don't recomment it because it would clash with other URLs of your website.
If you only need the username, use
RewriteRule ^profile/([^/\.]+).html/?$ profile.php?username=$2 [L]
and the URL would be
http://website.com/profile/username.html
You can use this rule:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /profile.php\?id=([^&]+)&username=([^&]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1/%2.html? [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)/([^/.]+)\.html$ profile.php?id=$1&username=$2 [L,QSA,NC]

.htaccess rewrite to produce clean url

Currently I set a rewrite rule like so, to produce clean and simple url's.
.htaccess
RewriteRule ^/about$ about.php [L]
But what i need to do is something a little different, the other way around. For example if a user clicks the following link
about
They would go to the about page /about
Currently the about page resides at index.php?a=about&b=user and this can't be changed unfortunately. As you can see it does not look very nice in the browser address bar.
EDITED
I am using a pre-made script from phpdolphin, which is working fine. But the url are all index.php based and i would like to clean them up
Currently the only code within the .htaccess file
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{request_filename} -f
RewriteRule ^(.*) $1 [L]
RewriteRule ^(([^/]*)+)(/([^/]{0,32})(/.+)?)?$ index.php?a=$1&q=$3 [L]
Add this rule before your existing rule:
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+index\.php\?a=([^&]+)&b=user[\s&] [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1? [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^([^/.]+)/?$ index.php?a=$1&b=user [L,NC,QSA]
You can add this RewriteRule to redirect the request when user hit index.php?a=about&b=user
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.*)a=about(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^index.php /about [L,NC,R=301]
or you can use php header() function in index.php to redirect the request:
if ($_REQUEST['a'] == about) {
header('Location: /about');
exit;
}
Try this i checked and it works ...
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z0-9-+_%*?]+)/([A-Za-z0-9-+_%*?]+)/?$ index.php?a=$1&q=$2 [L]
Note: add additional signs between [] if necessary
OR This
RewriteRule ^([^~]+)/([^~]+)/?$ index.php?a=$1&q=$2
I like to use this code because it's short and matches everything except for ~ which is very very rare to see in a url

Subdomain rewrite help for joomla SEF urls

been stuck at this for the past couple of hours here. Let me just illustrate my problem simply by the following lines.
Here's
1) Joomla absolute URL for the page i'm trying to convert: http://classifiedads4free.com/index.php?option=com_adsmanager&view=front
then:
Created menu item and activated SEF urls: So now alias becomes http://classifiedads4free.com/ads
after which:
I added a query string at the back of the URL so it becomes: http://classifiedads4free.com/ads?country=Singapore.
Was just wondering if there's anyway i can make the url at the top http://classifiedads4free.com/ads?country=Singapore. -->http://singapore.classifiedads4free.com
Tried going back to using the absolute URL on my .htaccess file, Following is the code:
1st tried:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(.+)\.classifiedads4free\.com$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.classifiedads4free\.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.(jpe?g|png|gif|bmp)$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) ads?country=%1 [L]
2nd tried:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(.+)\.classifiedads4free\.com$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.classifiedads4free\.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.(jpe?g|png|gif|bmp)$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) index.php?option=com_adsmanager&view=front&country=%1 [L]
However, I can't seem to get the redirect working. It keeps redirecting me back to my home page which isn't what i requested.
Would appreciate if someone could provide some assistance here. Been trying all day long.
Try this:
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.classifiedads4free.com/ads?country=%1 [L,NC]
