I'm trying to create an email template and replace words in the document using preg_replace. I'm pretty new to php so I'm not too clear about the logistics of it. This is what I currently have-- I want it to read the HTML/CSS file then replace words where I have placeholders.
<?php
$email = file("email.html");
$patterns = array();
$patterns[0] = '/header/';
$patterns[1] = '/name/';
$patterns[2] = '/body/';
$replacements = array();
$replacements[0] = 'imageurl';
$replacements[1] = 'John Johnson';
$replacements[2] = 'Content';
$output = preg_replace($patterns, $replacements, $email);
echo $output;
?>
Also, is it possible for me to replace with an image using this code?
you can simply use
$output = str_replace($patterns, $replacements, $email);

How do I use preg_replace text/url. For example, I have a url like this: http://www.web.org/dorama/1201102144/hitoya-no-toge. I just want to show web.org. The url is not always same, for example sometimes it's: http://www.web.org/movies/123/no etc.
I only know the basics of it. Here is what I tried. It still does not delete the slash.
$url = "http://www.web.org/dorama/1201102144/hitoya-no-toge";
$patterns = array();
$patterns[0] = '/http:/';
$patterns[1] = '/dorama/';
$patterns[2] = '/1201102144/';
$replacements = array();
$replacements[2] = '';
$replacements[1] = '';
$replacements[0] = '';
echo preg_replace($patterns, $replacements, $url);
result when i run it //www.web.org///hitoya-no-toge
For such a job, I'd use parse_url then explode:
$url = "http://www.web.org/dorama/1201102144/hitoya-no-toge";
$host = (parse_url($url))['host'];
$domain = (explode('.', $host, 2))[1];
echo $domain;
Output:
web.org
Use preg_match instead preg_replace i think http://php.net/manual/en/function.preg-match.php
// get host name from URL
preg_match('#^(?:http://)?([^/]+)#i', $url, $matches);
$host = $matches[1];
// get last two segments of host name
preg_match('/[^.]+\.[^.]+$/', $host, $matches);
echo "{$matches[0]}"
If use https change http to https, I don't know how to make it work for http and https.
I am looking for a way to simply replace characters with their ASCII counterparts in MIME encoded emails. I've written preliminary code below, but it seems like the str_replace commands I'm using will keep on going forever to catch all possible combinations. Is there a more efficient way to do this?
<?php
$strings = "=?utf-8?Q?UK=20Defence=20=2D=20Yes=2C=20Both=20Labour=20and=20Tory=20Need=20To=20Be=20Very=20Much=20Clearer=20On=20Defence?=";
function decodeString($input){
$space = array("=?utf-8?Q?","=?UTF-8?Q?", "=20","?=");
$hyphen = array("=E2=80=93","=2D");
$dotdotdot = "=E2=80=A6";
$pound = "=C2=A3";
$comma = "=2C";
$decode = str_replace($space, ' ', $input);
$decode = str_replace($hyphen, '-', $decode);
$decode = str_replace($pound, '£', $decode);
$decode = str_replace($comma, ',', $decode);
$decode = str_replace($dotdotdot, '...', $decode);
return $decode;
}
echo decodeString($strings);
?>
I figured it out - I have to pass $strings to the mb_decode_mimeheader() function.
Hello friends have a little problem. I need to extract only the words of a text "anyone".
I tried to retrieve the words using strtok (), strstr (). some regular expressions, but only managed to extract some words.
The problem is complex due to the number of characters and symbols that can accompany the words.
The example text which must be extracted words. This is a sample text:
Main article: our 46,000 required, !but (1947-2011) mail#server.com March 8, 2014 Gutenberg's 34-DE 'a' 3,1415 Us: #unknown n go http://google.com or www.google.com and http://www.google.com (r) The 509th "composite" and; C-54 #dog v4.0 ¿as is done? ¿article... agriculture? x ¿cat? now! Hi!! (87 meters).
Sample text, for testing.
The result of extracting the text should be:
Main article our required but March Gutenberg's a go or and The composite and dog as is done article agriculture cat now Hi meters
Sample text for testing
The first function I wrote to facilitate the work
function PreText($text){
$text = str_replace("\n", ".", $text);
$text = str_replace("\r", ".", $text);
$text = str_replace("'", "", $text);
$text = str_replace("?", "", $text);
$text = str_replace("¿", "", $text);
$text = str_replace("(", "", $text);
$text = str_replace(")", "", $text);
$text = str_replace('"', "", $text);
$text = str_replace(';', "", $text);
$text = str_replace('!', "", $text);
$text = str_replace('<', "", $text);
$text = str_replace('>', "", $text);
$text = str_replace('#', "", $text);
$text = str_replace(",", "", $text);
$text = str_replace(".c", "", $text);
$text = str_replace(".C", "", $text);
return $text;
}
Split function:
function SplitWords($text){
$words = explode(" ", $text);
$ContWords = count($words);
for ($i = 0; $i < $ContWords; $i++){
if (ctype_alpha($words[$i])) {
$NewText .= $words[$i].", ";
}
}
return $NewText;
}
The program:
<?
include_once ('functions.php');
$text = "Main article: our 46,000 ...";
$text = PreText($text);
$text = SplitWords($text);
echo $text;
?>
Is that the code has a long way. We appreciate your help.
If I understand you correctly, you want to remove all non-letters from the string. I would use preg_replace
$text = "Main article: our 46,000...";
$text = preg_replace("/[^a-zA-Z' ]/","",$text);
This should remove everything that is not a letter, apostrophe or a space.
Try this almost your requirement
<?php
$text = <<<HEREDOC
Main article: our 46,000 required, !but (1947-2011) mail#server.com March 8, 2014 Gutenberg's 34-DE 'a' 3,1415 Us: #unknown n go http://google.com or www.google.com and
http://www.google.com (r) The 509th composite" and; C-54 #dog v4.0 ¿as is done? ¿article... agriculture? x ¿cat? now! Hi!! (87 meters). Sample text, for testing.
HEREDOC;
//replace all kind of URLs and emails from text
$url_email = "((https?|ftp)\:\/\/)?"; // SCHEME
$url_email .= "([a-z0-9+!*(),;?&=\$_.-]+(\:[a-z0-9+!*(),;?&=\$_.-]+)?#)?"; // User and Pass
$url_email .= "([a-z0-9-.]*)\.([a-z]{2,4})"; // Host or IP
$url_email .= "(\:[0-9]{2,5})?"; // Port
$url_email .= "(\/([a-z0-9+\$_-]\.?)+)*\/?"; // Path
$url_email .= "(\?[a-z+&\$_.-][a-z0-9;:#&%=+\/\$_.-]*)?"; // GET Query
$url_email .= "(#[a-z_.-][a-z0-9+\$_.-]*)?"; // Anchor
$text = preg_replace("/$url_email/","",$text);
//replace anything like Us: #unknown
$text = preg_replace("/Us:.?#\\w+/","",$text);
//replace all Non-Alpha characters
$text = preg_replace("/[^a-zA-Z' ]/","",$text);
echo $text;
?>
I am working with PHP and WordPress right now, I need to basically run the below code to Replace text in $current_path with the text in $new_path if $current_path EXIST in $content
I would prefer to be able to iterate over an array instead of running this over and over like this, or any better method would be nice?
$content = 'www.domain.com/news-tag/newstaghere'
$current_path = 'test-tag';
$new_path = 'test/tag';
$content = str_replace($current_path, $new_path, $content);
$current_path = 'news-tag';
$new_path = 'news/tag';
$content = str_replace($current_path, $new_path, $content);
$current_path = 'ppc-tag';
$new_path = 'ppc/tag';
$content = str_replace($current_path, $new_path, $content);
str_replace() accepts array arguments:
$current_paths = array('test-tag','news-tag','ppc-tag');
$new_paths = array('test/tag','news/tag','ppc/tag');
$new_content = str_replace($current_paths, $new_paths, $content);
Or you can use a single array with strtr():
$path_map = array('test-tag'=>'test/tag', 'news-tag'=>'news/tag', 'ppc-tag'=>'ppc/tag');
$new_content = strtr($content, $path_map);
However, you seem to be doing something very generic. Maybe all you need is a regex?
$new_content = preg_replace('/(test|news|ppc)-(tag)/u', '\1/\2', $content);
Or maybe even just
$new_content = preg_replace('/(\w+)-(tag)/u', '\1/\2', $content);
$content = 'www.domain.com/news-tag/newstaghere'
$current_paths = array('test-tag','news-tag','ppc-tag');
$new_paths = array('test/tag','news/tag','ppc/tag';
$content = str_replace($current_paths, $new_paths, $content);
Array arguments can be provided for the str_replace function, as noted on the following PHP.net page:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.str-replace.php
Please see "Example #2" on the page linked above for details.
You can do that:
$content = 'www.domain.com/news-tag/newstaghere';
$content = preg_replace('~www\.domain\.com/\w++\K-(?=tag/)~', '/', $content);
Have been searching for a solution for hours.
My entire WordPress theme validates, except this script I'm using to receive the last tweet:
<?php
$twitterUsername = get_option('of_twitter_username');
$username = $twitterUsername; // Your twitter username.
$prefix = ""; // Prefix - some text you want displayed before your latest tweet.
$suffix = ""; // Suffix - some text you want display after your latest tweet.
$feed = "http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=from:" . $username . "&rpp=1";
function parse_feed($feed) {
$stepOne = explode("<content type=\"html\">", $feed);
$stepTwo = explode("</content>", $stepOne[1]);
$tweet = $stepTwo[0];
$tweet = str_replace("<", "<", $tweet);
$tweet = str_replace(">", ">", $tweet);
return $tweet;
}
$twitterFeed = file_get_contents($feed);
echo stripslashes($prefix) . parse_feed($twitterFeed) . stripslashes($suffix);
?>
The error, it seems, is:
$tweet = str_replace(">", ">", $tweet);
Not sure how to fix this.
Thanks for any help.
Replace the two str_replace calls with:
$tweet = html_entity_decode($tweet);
Maybe a simplier way (you don't need to parse) is to load http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q=from:the_username and make a json_decode of the result.
Then you can get the last tweet easily.
