I am trying to send style information along with an email via PHP mail() function. Unfortunately, even though my mail client is set to accept styled emails it still just renders as plain html text.
$to = $email;
$subject = "Subject Details";
$message='<html><body><table width="600" height="840" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="5">';
$message.='<tr><td height="110"><img src="https://user.co.uk/images/logo.jpg" alt="SignDox" width="300" height="100" /></td></tr>';
$message.='<tr><td height="29" bgcolor="#5C1561"> </td></tr>';
$message.='<tr><td height="537" valign="top">';
$message.="Message Goes Here\n\n";
$message.="Username: ".$new_agent_id."\n";
$message.="Password: ".$pass1."\n\n";
$message.="To sign in to your user panel follow this link: \n";
$message.="Inside your admin section you will be able to change your username and password.\n";
$message.='</td></tr>';
$message.='<tr><td height="140" bgcolor="#5C1561"> </td></tr></table></body></html>';
$from = "no-reply#sender.co.uk";
$headers = "From:" . $from;
mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers);
To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
Note:
1) If intending to send HTML or otherwise Complex mails, it is recommended to use the PEAR package ยป PEAR::Mail_Mime.
2) It is worth noting that the mail() function is not suitable for larger volumes of email in a loop. This function opens and closes an SMTP socket for each email, which is not very efficient.
Please read more this: PHP Manual
You need to define the correct headers in order to send HTML formatted emails. This can be done very simply using:
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
However, I would urge you to use the PHPMailer Class. This class will handle all headers and anything else you may need. You can easily add attachments, embed images, send via SMTP etc...
It is a fantastic class, and not to mention the amount you will learn with objects and classes, expecially if you are a newbie to PHP :-)
See here for the PHPMailer Class
Set the content type, and charset as desired. You should also terminate your from header with \r\n.
$headers = "From:" . $from . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
try something like
<?php
$headers = array();
$headers[] = "MIME-Version: 1.0";
$headers[] = "Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1";
$headers[] = "From:" . $from;
/*
$headers[] = "Bcc: JJ Chong <bcc#domain2.com>";
$headers[] = "Subject: {$subject}"; */ optional
mail($to, $subject, $message, implode("\r\n", $headers));
function send_mail($from,$fromName,$to,$object,$bodyText,$bodyHtml){
$site = "mywebsite.ca";
$from = $fromName." <".$from.">";
$limite = "_----------=_parties_".md5(uniqid (rand()));
$header = "Reply-to: ".$from."\n";
$header .= "From: ".$from."\n";
$header .= "X-Sender: <".$site.">\n";
$header .= "X-Mailer: PHP\n";
$header .= "X-auth-smtp-user: ".$from." \n";
$header .= "X-abuse-contact: ".$from." \n";
$header .= "Date: ".date("D, j M Y G:i:s O")."\n";
$header .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\n";
$header .= "Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=\"".$limite."\"";
$message = "";
$message .= "--".$limite."\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/plain\n";
$message .= "charset=\"iso-8859-1\"\n";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n\n";
$message .= $bodyText;
$message .= "\n\n--".$limite."\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/html; ";
$message .= "charset=\"iso-8859-1\"; ";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit;\n\n";
$message .= $bodyHtml;
$message .= "\n--".$limite."--";
if(mail($to,$object,$message,$header)){
//echo all
}
else{
//echo mssage not submit
}
}
hope this function can help you. try to use this function to as your send_mail, then at the buttom try to
write a condition to see if your message is submitted.You just needed to give inputs in it
//your header should be like this
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";

I'm trying to use the built-in PHP mail function to send multipart messages that contain a html and a plain text version of my message. I've been playing around with different encoding types but, I keep running into problems. Originally I set Content-Transfer-Encoding to Binary but, that resulted in exclamation points being placed every 78 characters. I also tried base64 but I believe that base64 is overkill for what I am doing.
All I'm doing is sending basic HTML, no encoded images, files, or attachments. I'd prefer an encoding method that would still allow the source code to be human readable.
I heard that Quoted-Printable is what I'm looking for but, when I attempted to send messages using that encoding type the result ending up looking really weird. I noticed a bunch of " symbols sprinkled throughout the message source code.
Here is the code I'm using:
$to = "to#test.com";
$subject = "test subject";
$boundary = uniqid('np');
$headers = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "From: from-address#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: reply-address#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Return-Path: return-path#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: multipart/alternative;boundary=" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message = "This is a MIME encoded message.";
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: Quoted-Printable\r\n";
$message .= $plainTextMessage;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: Quoted-Printable\r\n";
$message .= $HTMLmessage;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "--";
$ok = mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers);
What the heck am I doing wrong here?
Hi try the following code,
$to = "to#test.com";
$subject = "test subject";
$plainTextMessage = "Hi all";
$HTMLmessage = "<b>Hi all</b>";
//$boundary = uniqid('np');
$boundary = md5(uniqid(time()));
$headers .= "From: from-address#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: reply-address#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Return-Path: return-path#test.com\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: multipart/alternative;boundary=" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message = "This is a MIME encoded message.";
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: Quoted-Printable\r\n";
$message .= $plainTextMessage;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8\r\n";
$message .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: Quoted-Printable\r\n";
$message .= $HTMLmessage;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "--";
$ok = mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers);
May it will help
No need for a third party library or an external mail forwarding host. This is what I use and it works like a charm. It also fixes some potential security holes by forcing headers using the $from address that can otherwise reveal your system user :
private function sendMail($to, $from, $fromName, $subject, $text, $html)
{
$boundary = uniqid('np');
$headers = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "From: ".$fromName." <".$from.">" . "\r\n";
$headers .= "X-Sender: ".$fromName." <".$from.">\n";
$headers .= "Return-Path: <".$from.">\n";
$headers .= "To: ".$to."\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: multipart/alternative;boundary=" . $boundary . "\r\n";
// Content body
$message = "This is a MIME encoded message.";
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-type: text/plain;charset=utf-8\r\n\r\n";
// Plain text body
$message .= $text;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "\r\n";
$message .= "Content-type: text/html;charset=utf-8\r\n\r\n";
// Html body
$message .= $html;
$message .= "\r\n\r\n--" . $boundary . "--";
// Send mail
mail('', $subject, $message, $headers, '-f ' . $from);
}
I want to convert the link to the button in PHP mail.php file.
$message = sprintf($this->language->get('mail_message'), $store_name, $link);
I will appreciate if someone helps me to convert the link to the button.
To achieve this, you have to send html email instead of plain/text email. It is pretty simple, leave the images on the server and send the PHP + CSS to them...
$to = 'xyz#example.com';
$subject = 'Subject';
$headers = "From: " . strip_tags($_POST['req-email']) . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: ". strip_tags($_POST['req-email']) . "\r\n";
$headers .= "CC: abc#example.com\r\n";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8\r\n";
$message = '<p>Anchor Text</p>';
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
I am attempting to send an email using the mail() PHP function. I had it working until I attempted to give it a subject of "User registration", then the mail is not sent!
Heres the code (have simplified it greatly)
$to = $this->post_data['register-email'];
$message = 'Hello etc';
$headers = 'From: noreply#example.com' . "\r\n" ;
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; chareset=iso-8859-1\r\n';
$headers .= 'From: Website <admin#example.com>';
mail($to, 'User Registration', $message, $headers);
I also attempted to use a variable containing the string of text but that didnt work.
Why is it not sending the mail when I add the subject exception?
Thanks
EDIT: updated code thats still not working
$to = $this->post_data['register-email'];
$message = 'Hello etc';
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Website <admin#example.com>';
mail($to, 'User Registration', $message, $headers);
On your 4th line you're using ' that handles everything inside of it as a string so change
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; chareset=iso-8859-1\r\n';
To:
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
and as mentioned in the comments change chareset to charset
Edit:
if your sending a txt/html mail you have according to documentation to set mime in the headers too so try this
$to = $this->post_data['register-email'];
$message = 'Hello etc';
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Website <admin#example.com>' . "\r\n";
mail($to, 'User Registration', $message, $headers);
If it still doesn't work you could try to debugg your code, simply add
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', '1');
on top of the page, and take it from there, and if you still can't solve it by yourself post it here and I'll do my best to help ya out.
I'm using this code on most of my projects:
$subject = 'subject';
$message = 'message';
$to = 'user#gmail.com';
$type = 'plain'; // or HTML
$charset = 'utf-8';
$mail = 'no-reply#'.str_replace('www.', '', $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']);
$uniqid = md5(uniqid(time()));
$headers = 'From: '.$mail."\n";
$headers .= 'Reply-to: '.$mail."\n";
$headers .= 'Return-Path: '.$mail."\n";
$headers .= 'Message-ID: <'.$uniqid.'#'.$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].">\n";
$headers .= 'MIME-Version: 1.0'."\n";
$headers .= 'Date: '.gmdate('D, d M Y H:i:s', time())."\n";
$headers .= 'X-Priority: 3'."\n";
$headers .= 'X-MSMail-Priority: Normal'."\n";
$headers .= 'Content-Type: multipart/mixed;boundary="----------'.$uniqid.'"'."\n";
$headers .= '------------'.$uniqid."\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/'.$type.';charset='.$charset.''."\n";
$headers .= 'Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit';
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
I would suggest to use PHP_EOL instead of \r\n or \n as the line break would then be determined by your environment...
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . PHP_EOL;
etc.. hoping this might finally solve your problem!
Basically I need to notify certain users of something happening in the application.
I bring the users from the database, everything works fine, but when i send the emails, only the first one in the list receives it, I tried switching the order they are brought, and still, so is not about a particular mail client.
I tried sending one by one and now sending all together and neither seems to work.
Have this ever ocurred before? I'm using some amazon server, with linux, but is a client's client's server so i can't really stick my head all over the config.
$ul = $this->q2ar("SELECT * FROM usr WHERE role_id in(1,7)");
//get admins from db
$ntf = '';
foreach($ul as $usr){
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0 '." \r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . " \r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Centinelas <centinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec>' . " \r\n";
$body = "mail content";
$ntf .= "'".$usr['email']."'".', ';
}
$ntf = substr_replace($ntf ,"",-2);
$ml = mail($ntf,'Nuevo Caso en Centinelas Chevrolet',$body,$headers,'- fcentinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec');
return('email where sent to :<br/>'.$ntf);
Try sending an email to one person, like yourself or the sender then using the Cc to send to the rest.
$ul = $this->q2ar("SELECT * FROM usr WHERE role_id in(1,7)");
foreach($ul as $usr){
$ntf[] = $usr['email'];
}
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0 '." \r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . " \r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Centinelas <centinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec>' . " \r\n";
$headers .= 'Cc: '.join($nft,",") . " \r\n";
$body = "mail content";
$ml = mail('centinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec','Nuevo Caso en Centinelas Chevrolet',$body,$headers,'- fcentinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec');
return('email where sent to :<br/>'.join($nft,","));
The whole use the Cc: string.
foreach($ul as $usr){
$ntf .= (($ntf=="")?"":", ")."'".$usr['email']."'";
}
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
// Additional headers
$headers .= 'To: Centinelas <centinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec>' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Centinelas <centinelas#serviciochevrolet.com.ec>' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Cc: '.$ntf.'' . "\r\n";
you have to add $ntf "CC:" to the HEADERS (for clarity it is often ok to send the mail to the sender)
i'm using following code to send confirmation mail, but i dont know why the url parameter in mail removed
and in mail i'm getting url like http://example.com/confirm.php?user_id= parameter value (1) is being removed
$headers = "From: admin#example.com \n";
$headers .= "X-Mailer: PHP/SimpleModalContactForm";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8\n";
$headers .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\n";
$subject = "Confirm Your Registration Example.com";
$subject = mb_encode_mimeheader($subject, "UTF-8", "B", "\n");
$to="abc#demo.com";
$body="<table> <tr> <td> Hello </td> </tr>";
$body.="<tr> <td> Please confirm your registration by clicking following link <td> </tr>";
$body.="<tr> <td> http://example.com/confirm.php?user_id=1</td> </tr>";
$body.="</table>";
#mail($to, $subject, $body, $headers) or die("Unfortunately, a server issue prevented delivery of your message.");
Did you try with a tag like
http://example.com/confirm.php?user_id=1
solved,
just changed headers from
$headers = "From: admin#example.com \n";
$headers .= "X-Mailer: PHP/SimpleModalContactForm";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8\n";
$headers .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\n";
to
$headers = "MIME-Version: 1.0" . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type:text/html;charset=iso-8859-1" . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: admin#example.com' . "\r\n";
