getting multiple post id wordpress - php

I am making a voting system for my theme
It is working fine in single.php
But when i keep it in index.php it only considers the id of first post and rest don't work
I think its not dealing with multiple post id
Here is the full code
Setting a cookie, calling Ajax action with jQuery
<script type="text/javascript">
/* <![CDATA[ */
(function($) {
function setCookie(name,value,days) {
if (days) {
var date = new Date();
date.setTime(date.getTime()+(days*24*60*60*1000));
var expires = "; expires="+date.toGMTString();
}
else var expires = "";
document.cookie = name+"="+value+expires+"; path=/";
}
function getCookie(name) {
var nameEQ = name + "=";
var ca = document.cookie.split(';');
for(var i=0;i < ca.length;i++) {
var c = ca[i];
while (c.charAt(0)==' ') c = c.substring(1,c.length);
if (c.indexOf(nameEQ) == 0) return c.substring(nameEQ.length,c.length);
}
return null;
}
$("#vote").not(".disabled").click(function() {
var el = $(this);
el.html('<span id="loader"></span>');
var nonce = $("input#voting_nonce").val();
var data = {
action: 'add_votes_options',
nonce: nonce,
postid: '<?php echo $post->ID; ?>',
ip: '<?php echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ?>'
};
$.post('<?php echo admin_url('admin-ajax.php'); ?>', data,
function(response){
if(response!="-1") {
el.html("VOTED").unbind("click");
if(response=="null") {
alert("A vote has already been registered to this IP address.");
} else {
$("#votecounter").html(response);
alert("Thanks for your vote.");
}
var cookie = getCookie("better_votes");
if(!cookie) {
var newcookie = "<?php echo $post->ID; ?>";
} else {
var newcookie = cookie + ",<?php echo $post->ID; ?>";
}
setCookie("better_votes", newcookie, 365);
} else {
alert("There was a problem registering your vote. Please try again later.");
}
});
return false;
});
})(jQuery);
/* ]]> */
</script>
This is what I put in my functions.php to register actions
add_action("wp_ajax_add_votes_options", "add_votes_options");
add_action("wp_ajax_nopriv_add_votes_options", "add_votes_options");
function add_votes_options() {
if (!wp_verify_nonce($_POST['nonce'], 'voting_nonce'))
return;
$postid = $_POST['postid'];
$ip = $_POST['ip'];
$voter_ips = get_post_meta($postid, "voter_ips", true);
if(!empty($voter_ips) && in_array($ip, $voter_ips)) {
echo "null";
die(0);
} else {
$voter_ips[] = $ip;
update_post_meta($postid, "voter_ips", $voter_ips);
}
$current_votes = get_post_meta($postid, "votes", true);
$new_votes = intval($current_votes) + 1;
update_post_meta($postid, "votes", $new_votes);
$return = $new_votes>1 ? $new_votes." votes" : $new_votes." vote";
echo $return;
die(0);
}
this is how I call my vote button and count button
<?php
// This will display "0 votes" and increase as votes are added
$votes = get_post_meta($post->ID, "votes", true);
$votes = !empty($votes) ? $votes : "0";
if($votes == 1) $plural = ""; else $plural = "s";
echo '<div id="votecounter">'.$votes.' vote'.$plural.'</div>';
?>
<?php
// This will display the vote button and disable it if a cookie has already
// been set. We also add the security nonce here.
$hasvoted = $_COOKIE['better_votes'];
$hasvoted = explode(",", $hasvoted);
if(in_array($post->ID, $hasvoted)) {
$vtext = "VOTED";
$class = ' class="disabled"';
} else {
$vtext = "VOTE";
$class = "";
}
?>
<a href="javascript:void(0)" id="vote"<?php echo $class; ?>><?php echo $vtext; ?></a>
<?php if(function_exists('wp_nonce_field')) wp_nonce_field('voting_nonce', 'voting_nonce'); ?>

As for a beginning, you shouldn't have the same id for your button over and over again, so change this:
<a href="javascript:void(0)" id="vote"<?php echo $class; ?>><?php echo $vtext; ?></a>
To this:
<?php
if(in_array($post->ID, $hasvoted)) {
$vtext = "VOTED";
$class = ' disabled';
} else {
$vtext = "VOTE";
$class = "";
}
<?php echo $vtext; ?>
This will result in id attribute of each vote button in the form of "vote-{post id}". And since I guess you still want to address all of your buttons in some way, you can now use the .vote-btn selector.
The problem with your JavaScript is that you pass the ID of the post to the script directly. This is fine, when you have only one post on the page, but when you have multiple posts, you have to either print your code multiple times, or get the post ID dynamically.
I prefer the second option, here's how your JS code should change in order to get that working:
<script type="text/javascript">
/* <![CDATA[ */
(function($) {
function setCookie(name,value,days) {
if (days) {
var date = new Date();
date.setTime(date.getTime()+(days*24*60*60*1000));
var expires = "; expires="+date.toGMTString();
}
else var expires = "";
document.cookie = name+"="+value+expires+"; path=/";
}
function getCookie(name) {
var nameEQ = name + "=";
var ca = document.cookie.split(';');
for(var i=0;i < ca.length;i++) {
var c = ca[i];
while (c.charAt(0)==' ') c = c.substring(1,c.length);
if (c.indexOf(nameEQ) == 0) return c.substring(nameEQ.length,c.length);
}
return null;
}
$(".vote-btn").not(".disabled").click(function() {
var el = $(this),
nonce = $("input#voting_nonce", el.parent()).val(),
id = el.attr('id').replace(/vote-/, ''); // get the Post ID
el.html('<span id="loader"></span>');
var data = {
action: 'add_votes_options',
nonce: nonce,
postid: id,
ip: '<?php echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ?>'
};
$.post('<?php echo admin_url('admin-ajax.php'); ?>', data,
function(response){
if(response!="-1") {
el.html("VOTED").unbind("click");
if(response=="null") {
alert("A vote has already been registered to this IP address.");
} else {
$("#votecounter").html(response);
alert("Thanks for your vote.");
}
var cookie = getCookie("better_votes");
if(!cookie) {
var newcookie = id;
} else {
var newcookie = cookie + "," + id;
}
setCookie("better_votes", newcookie, 365);
} else {
alert("There was a problem registering your vote. Please try again later.");
}
});
return false;
});
})(jQuery);
/* ]]> */
</script>
So, in the above code, we get the ID of the post that the user is voting from, by replacing "vote-" with an empty string(so only the ID remains). Note also the following line:
nonce = $("input#voting_nonce", el.parent()).val(),
In this line, I assume that the nonce input as well as the button have the same parent(although you should be able to use the same nonce for all posts). You can also take your nonce one step further, by changing the code that generates it to:
<?php if(function_exists('wp_nonce_field')) wp_nonce_field('voting_nonce-' . $post->ID, 'voting_nonce'); ?>
And change your add_votes_options function to:
$postid = $_POST['postid'];
if ( ! wp_verify_nonce( $_POST['nonce'], 'voting_nonce-' . $postid ) )
return;
This will bind each nonce to the ID of the post, that the nonce is for.
I think that's pretty much your problem. Please try my code and tell me if there are problems with it(if it's a JS error, please add message from the error console in FireBug, or WebKit's inspector).

My answer was backed-up by my experience with WordPress and jQuery - and I earn my living by working mainly with WordPress(less jQuery, but I use it relatively often as well). Hope this will be enough :)

How do I make an onclick ajax request for favorites button work properly

I have a list on my site that has a favorites button associated with each item on the list. I am using an image as the button to click. The PHP for it is:
echo "<img src=\"./images/emptystar.png\" alt=\"favorite\" class=\"favoritebutton\" billid=\"" . $count['id'] ."\" userid=\"". $_SESSION['userid'] ."\" />\n";
I have javascript/jQuery to make an onclick of that image submit an AJAX request to a PHP file.
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".favoritebutton").click(function () {
var billid = $(this).attr("billid");
var userid = $(this).attr("userid");
var ajaxrequest;
var params = "billid=" + billid + "&userid=" + userid;
ajaxrequest.open("POST","./ajaxphp/favorites.php",true);
ajaxrequest.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
ajaxrequest.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length);
ajaxrequest.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close");
ajaxrequest.send(params);
ajaxrequest.onreadystatechange=function()
{
if (ajaxrequest.readyState===4 && ajaxrequest.status===200)
{
if(ajaxrequest.responseText === "true")
{
if($(this).attr("src") === "./images/emptystar.png")
{
$(this).attr("src","./images/fullstar.png");
}
else
{
$(this).attr("src","./images/emptystar.png");
}
}
}
};
});
});
The php file at ./ajaxphp/favorites.php is the following:
<?php
include("./includes/dbcxnfunction.inc");
$billid = $_POST['billid'];
$userid = $_POST['userid'];
$query = "IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM favoritebills WHERE userid = '$userid' AND billid = '$billid' )
INSERT INTO favoritebills (userid,billid) VALUES($userid,$billid)
ELSE
DELETE FROM favoritebills WHERE userid = '$userid' and billid = '$billid' ";
$result = mysqli_query(dbcxn('bill'),$query)
or exit("Couldn't execute query for favorites");
if($result)
{
$request = "true";
}
else
{
$request = "false";
}
echo $request;
?>
In particular I am concerned with the SQL query and the javascript because I am not certain of their correctness, but I used a validator for the javascript with JQuery and everything is valid.
When I click the image on the page, nothing happens even though I have tested both conditions for the image change. Either the javascript is written incorrectly, or there is never a response sent back from the favorites.php file.
The network tab in console.
Use JQuery's .ajax and pass the clicked element by storing it in var before you make the ajax call
$(".favoritebutton").click(function () {
//Store $(this) in var so that it can be passed inside the success function
var this$ = $(this);
var billid = this$.attr("billid");
var userid = this$.attr("userid");
$.ajax( { url : "./ajaxphp/favorites.php", type: 'post', data : { billid : billid , userid : userid },
success : function( responseText ){
if( responseText == "true"){
if( this$.attr("src") == "./images/emptystar.png"){
this$.attr("src","./images/fullstar.png");
}else{
this$.attr("src","./images/emptystar.png");
}
}
},
error : function( e ){
alert( ' Error : ' + e );
}
});
});

YUI-2 Datatable : Dynamic column definition with Server side AJAX pagination sorting

I am using the below code to create a YUI datatable with dynamic data(columns). But am facing a issue in server side pagination. As of now it is working fine with client side pagination, but I need server side pagination, so that my page loading time will get reduced. Can you help me on this to fix the issue. Since I'm struggling in this area for past 2 days.Server side pagination with AJAX to render the data is my expectation.
Here is the code I Used
DataProvider.prototype = {
url:null,
data:null,
ds:null,
getData:function() {return this.data},
initialize:function(){
var str = generateRequest();
var newUrl = this.url+str;
YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest('GET', newUrl, this);
},
success:function(response){
var responseVal = YAHOO.lang.JSON.parse(response.responseText);
var columnList = responseVal.columnList;
var sortedBy = responseVal.sortedBy;
this.data = responseVal.results;
if(this.data == '') {
$('#dynamicdata').html('<font style="color:red;"> No Data Found!</font>');
} else {
this.ds = new YAHOO.util.FunctionDataSource(function(){return this.dataProvider.getData()});
this.ds.responseSchema = {
resultsList:"results",
fields:columnList,
// Access to values in the server response
metaFields: {
totalRecords: "totalRecords",
startIndex: "startIndex"
}
}
this.ds.dataProvider = this;
// DataTable configuration
var myConfigs = {
paginator: new YAHOO.widget.Paginator({ rowsPerPage:20 }), // Enables pagination
width:"80%", height:"auto"
};
// FORMATTING CELL COLOUR BASED ON THEIR VALUES
var myCustomFormatter = function(elLiner, oRecord, oColumn, oData) {
var columnKey = oColumn.getKey();
var frmCurrentPeroid = $('#from').val();
//var frmCurrentPeroid = '2013-03-13';
var defaultLabels = ['Product type','Total 1','Total 2','Change'];
if (isDate(columnKey) && $.inArray(columnKey, defaultLabels) === -1) {

}
else if(columnKey == 'Product Name') {
var filterStr = oData.substring(0,30);
elLiner.innerHTML = ''+filterStr+'';
//alert('blue');
}
else {
elLiner.innerHTML = oData;
}
}
};
// Add the custom formatter to the shortcuts
YAHOO.widget.DataTable.Formatter.myCustom = myCustomFormatter;
//YAHOO.widget.DataTable.formatLink = formatLink;
/* make call to initialize your table using the data set */
var myDataTable = new YAHOO.widget.DataTable("dynamicdata", columnList, this.ds, myConfigs);

I haven't been doing YUI2 for quite some time so I am no longer able to help you directly. Perhaps this example can help: http://www.satyam.com.ar/yui/#ServerDriven . I do remember that there were big changes in 2.6 and this examples are marked 2.4, perhaps they no longer work.

Passing js variables to php using jquery

I'm trying to do a realllly simple post of a javascript variable to a php file.
Jquery bit in keyinput.php:
<script type="text/javascript">
var imgArray = [<?php echo implode(',', getImages($cat, $site)) ?>];
$(document).ready(function() {
var img = document.getElementById("showimg");
img.src = imgArray[<?php echo $imgid ?>];
var imgIndex = <?php echo $imgid ?>;
$(document).keydown(function (e) {
var key = e.which;
int rightarrow = 39;
int leftarrow = 37;
int random = 82;
if (key != rightarrow && key != leftarrow && key != random) {
return;
}
else {
//next image: right arrow
if (key == rightarrow)
{
imgIndex++;
if (imgIndex > imgArray.length-1)
{
imgIndex = 0;
}
img.src = imgArray[imgIndex];
}
//last image: left arrow
if (key == leftarrow)
{
if (imgIndex == 0)
{
imgIndex = imgArray.length;
}
img.src = imgArray[--imgIndex];
}
//random: r
if (key == random)
{
imgIndex = Math.floor((Math.random()*(imgArray.length-1))+1);
img.src = imgArray[imgIndex];
}
}
$.post('./templates/viewcomic.php', {variable: imgIndex});
});
});
</script>
<?php
function getImages($catParam, $siteParam) {
include './scripts/dbconnect.php';
if ($siteParam == 'artwork') {
$table = "artwork";
}
else {
$table = "comics";
}
if ($catParam != null) {
$catResult = $mysqli->query("SELECT id, title, path, thumb, catidFK FROM $table WHERE catidFK = $catParam");
}
else {
$catResult = $mysqli->query("SELECT id, title, path, thumb, catidFK FROM $table");
}
$img = array();
while($row = $catResult->fetch_assoc())
{
$img[] = "'" . $row['path'] . "'";
}
return $img;
}
?>
PHP bit in viewcomic.php:
include './scripts/keyinput.php';
$JSIndex = $_POST['variable'];
echo "Index = " . $JSIndex;
//$JSIndex should be equal to the javascript variable imgIndex... but it outputs nothing
Any thoughts would be extremely helpful! I'm trying to get my comics website to go live.
Thanks!
Your logic is wrong: at the moment you define your key variable, e is undefined. Then you attach your event handler inside an if statement that will always evaluate to false so that will never work.
The assignment to key should be inside your event handler and the conditional needs to go, you already have that inside your event handler.
Edit: you should also only do your ajax call if one of your action keys is pressed (put it inside the event handler) and do something with the result.
Edit 2: Checkout the manual on $.post, you should add a callback function to process the return value of your php script.
For example:
$.post(
'./templates/viewcomic.php',
{ variable: imgIndex },
function(data) { /* data contains what you have echoed out in your php script */
alert(data);
}
);

How to fix a not defined javascript error?

I am fairly new to Javascript and what I am trying to do is have a cookie set as soon as I click on a link. When I return back to the previous page from the link, I want the page to auto refresh and notify the user by color to show what link they just clicked. I used this example to guide me http://webdesign.about.com/od/cookies/a/aa083198.htm. But I am still not getting it.
The code below is what I have. The problem is that as soon as I click on the link firebug brings up the error "getLink not defined". Also through web developer on Firefox, it seems that my cookie is not actually being set even though I am calling it from the Html.I am also showing gave the most important part in my Html that calls the function.
The videoId i have in setCookie is a php variable that is defined somewhere else in my code. I would really appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!
<head>
<script language="text/javascript">
var cookie_name = "watched";
function setCookie(cookie_name,cookie_value)
{
if (document.cookie!="") {
index = document.cookie.indexOf(cookie_name);
} else {
index = -1;
}
if (index == -1) {
var finish = 7200;
var cookie_value = videoId + "; expires=" + finish;
document.cookie=cookie_name + "=" + cookie_value;
}
}
function getLink(cookie_value) {
if (document.cookie) {
index = document.cookie.indexOf(cookie_value);
if (index != -1) {
colorLinks;
}
else{
//alert("No color");
}
}
return colorLinks;
}
function colorLinks()
{
$('#' + videoId).css('background-color: pink');
}
</script>
</head>
<body onLoad=window.refresh>
<div id="page">
echo '<a href="' . $link . '" onclick="setCookie(); return true;">' . $this->Links
This does not make sense:
function getLink(cookie_value) {
if (document.cookie) {
index = document.cookie.indexOf(cookie_value);
if (index != -1) {
colorLinks; // you mean colorLinks(); ???
}
else {
//alert("No color");
}
}
// why return a function that sets color instead of just calling it?
return colorLinks;
}
and there is luckily nothing called window.refresh (unless you have created it yourself) or you would loop forever
In the code i don't see where videoId is given a value
You don't call the function setCookie(cookie_name,cookie_value); to set the cookie.
Please read about cookies: http://www.quirksmode.org/js/cookies.html
<script type = "text/javascript">
function createCookie(name,value,days) {
if (days) {
var date = new Date();
date.setTime(date.getTime()+(days*24*60*60*1000));
var expires = "; expires="+date.toGMTString();
}
else var expires = "";
document.cookie = name+"="+value+expires+"; path=/";
}
function readCookie(name) {
var nameEQ = name + "=";
var ca = document.cookie.split(';');
for(var i=0;i < ca.length;i++) {
var c = ca[i];
while (c.charAt(0)==' ') c = c.substring(1,c.length);
if (c.indexOf(nameEQ) == 0) return c.substring(nameEQ.length,c.length);
}
return null;
}
function eraseCookie(name) {
createCookie(name,"",-1);
}
</script>

Login Form > Overlay Closes on Form Error

I'm wrestling with an issue involving a log in form which is fetched using Ajax then displayed in a jQuery overlay. The overlay works perfectly, the issue is that when I click submit (using incorrect details) a the overlay closes instead of displaying the appropriate errors. The PHP code is on the login page (admin/index.php).
Button HTML:
<input name="Submit" type="submit" value="Log In" class="submit" />
Form tag HTML:
<form id="loginForm" method="post" action="">
PHP code:
ob_start();
define('INCLUDE_CHECK',true);

Hi Reason that your modal closes is that when you click submit your running your backend code, this being PHP and with your PHP you are redirecting the user if the result is negative, you need to capture the response from your PHP rather than having your PHP do a redirect.
What you can do is make your submit an ajax submit and set the data response to json, then you can write a json response that your jquery can understand, this way all the validation will be done on the backend in the background without needed to redirect.
