using one validation for two input codeigniter - php

I want to have one validation for two input
ex I have input agendaCode and agendaNumber
I want codeigniter check the concation value of both input at the same time so I will have code like
$this->form_validation->set_rules('agendaCode/agendaNumber','my_callback_function);
but its return error
i know the answer by using
$this->form_validation->set_rules('agendaCode','my_callback_function[agendaNumber]');

You can only pass one field name to the set_rules() method when doing it that way:
https://www.codeigniter.com/user_guide/libraries/form_validation.html#setting-validation-rules
However, you can pass an array:
https://www.codeigniter.com/user_guide/libraries/form_validation.html#setting-rules-using-an-array
So:
$config = array(
array(
'field' => 'agendaCode',
'label' => 'Agenda Code',
'rules' => 'callback_my_function'
),
array(
'field' => 'agendaNumber',
'label' => 'Agenda Number',
'rules' => 'callback_my_function'
)
);
$this->form_validation->set_rules($config);

I mnot sure if you can validate two input in the same statement but i can see why you get an error
you need to change
$this->form_validation->set_rules('agendaCode/agendaNumber','my_callback_function);
to
$this->form_validation->set_rules('agendaCode','callback_function);
$this->form_validation->set_rules('agendaNumber','callback_function);
the corrent statement is callback_functionname it has to be callback not my_callback or anotherthing else

Error message from form validation using a model method for custom rule

I need to display an error message for a custom validation rule, but I can't get to do it.
This is the validation rule:
$config = array(
....,
array(
'field' => 'general_sales_subaccount',
'label' => 'General Sales Subaccount',
'rules' => array(
'required',
'numeric',
array(
$this->subaccounts_model,
'is_valid'
)
),
)
);
$this->form_validation->set_rules($config);
And now this is the referenced model method:
public function is_valid($subaccount)
{
$subaccount_num_digits = $this->preferences->get('subaccount_num_digits');
if (strlen($subaccount) != $subaccount_num_digits ) {
$this->form_validation->set_message('is_valid', "The number of digits in %s doesn't match the length set to " . $subaccount_num_digits);
return false;
}
return true;
}
The rule seems to work, but it displays this error message:
Unable to access an error message corresponding to your field name (Anonymous function).
Any ideas?
You can't get an error message because you don't setup functions name. You may change your rule function like below:
$config = array(
....,
array(
'field' => 'general_sales_subaccount',
'label' => 'General Sales Subaccount',
'rules' => array(
'required',
'numeric',
array( //you may get all in another array
'is_valid', // and tell codeigniter your functions name
array(
$this->subaccounts_model,
'is_valid'
)
)
),
)
);
$this->form_validation->set_rules($config);

codeigniter form validation on array not form submit

i want validate my form input field or you want to say i have an array and i want to validate that array using codeigniter
Example :
i have array like :
$array['obj_type']='sample';
$array['obj_id']='44';
$array['user_id']='34566';
and my form validation config as like :
'validatedata' => array(
array(
'field' => 'obj_type',
'label' => 'No Type Define here',
'rules' => 'required'
),
array(
'field' => 'obj_id',
'label' => 'No any item selected here',
'rules' => 'required|is_natural_no_zero'
),
array(
'field' => 'user_id',
'label' => 'No user logged in',
'rules' => 'required|is_natural_no_zero'
),
),
and when i use form validate its not validate array
if ($this->form_validation->run('validatedata')) {
} else {
echo validation_errors();
}
its print all error which define on on validatedata config array;
i just use
$this->form_validation->set_data($array);
then i validate form
if ($this->form_validation->run('validatedata')) {
echo "sucess";
} else {
echo validation_errors();
}
now its works fine and good.
You have to load form validation library in your controller..
$this->load->library(array('form_validation'));
You have to provide the data to the form_validation library:
$this->form_validation->set_data($array);
and then you can use
$this->form_validation->run('validatedata')
as intended.
If you want to validate multiple arrays, you'll have to call reset_validation() after validating each array.
Check system/libraries/Form_validation.php (around line 255, depending on your version of CI) for more information.

Retain Checkbox values in Yii gridview pagination

I have a gridview which contains a checkbox column and also uses pagination. When I check some checkboxes in the first page and navigate to the second page and check another one in the second page, the options I checked in the first page is not retained there. Is it posssible to retain the checkbox values during pagination?
Code for Gridview is
$widget = $this->widget('zii.widgets.grid.CGridView', array(
'dataProvider' => $model->search(),
'cssFile' => Yii::app()->baseUrl . '/media/js/admin/css/admingridview.css',
//'filter' => $model,
'ajaxUpdate' => true,
'enablePagination' => true,
'columns' => array(
array(
'name' => 'id',
'header' => '#',
'value' => '$this->grid->dataProvider->pagination->currentPage * $this->grid->dataProvider->pagination->pageSize + ($row+1)',
),
array(
'class' => 'CCheckBoxColumn',
'selectableRows' => '2',
'header' => 'Selected',
),
array(
'name' => 'fb_user_id',
'header' => 'FaceBook Id',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->fb_user_id)',
),
array(
'name' => 'first_name',
'header' => 'Name',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->first_name)',
),
array(
'name' => 'email_id',
'header' => 'Email',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->email_id)',
),
array(
'name' => 'demo',
'type' => 'raw',
'header' => "Select",
'value' => 'CHtml::checkBox("email[]","",array("class"=>"check","value"=>$data->email_id))',
),
),
));

Thanks to bool.dev
You could use sessions/cookies to store the checked values. I'm not very sure how to make cookies work, so i'll tell you how to do it with sessions. Specifically the user session that yii creates.
Now to use sessions we need to pass the checked (and unchecked) ids to the controller, therefore we'll modify the data being sent to the controller on every ajax update(i.e between paginations), to do this we exploit the beforeAjaxUpdate option of CGridView.
I'm also using CCheckBoxColumn instead of the following in your code(of course you can modify the solution to suit your own needs):
array(
'name' => 'demo',
'type'=>'raw',
'header' => "Select",
'value' => 'CHtml::checkBox("email[]","",array("class"=>"check","value"=>$data->email_id))',
),
GridView Changes:
<?php $this->widget('zii.widgets.grid.CGridView', array(
// added id of grid-view for use with $.fn.yiiGridView.getChecked(containerID,columnID)
'id'=>'first-grid',
'dataProvider'=>$model->search(),
'cssFile' => Yii::app()->baseUrl . '/media/js/admin/css/admingridview.css',
// added this piece of code
'beforeAjaxUpdate'=>'function(id,options){options.data={checkedIds:$.fn.yiiGridView.getChecked("first-grid","someChecks").toString(),
uncheckedIds:getUncheckeds()};
return true;}',
'ajaxUpdate'=>true,
'enablePagination' => true,
'columns' => array(
array(
'name' => 'id',
'header' => '#',
'value' => '$this->grid->dataProvider->pagination->currentPage * $this->grid->dataProvider->pagination->pageSize + ($row+1)',
),
array(
'name' => 'fb_user_id',
'header' => 'FaceBook Id',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->fb_user_id)',
),
array(
'name' => 'first_name',
'header' => 'Name',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->first_name)',
),
array(
'name' => 'email_id',
'header' => 'Email',
'value' => 'CHtml::encode($data->email_id)',
),
/* replaced the following with CCheckBoxColumn
array(
'name' => 'demo',
'type'=>'raw',
'header' => "Select",
'value' =>'CHtml::checkBox("email[]","",array("class"=>"check","value"=>$data->email_id))',
),
*/
array(
'class' => 'CCheckBoxColumn',
'selectableRows' => '2',
'header'=>'Selected',
'id'=>'someChecks', // need this id for use with $.fn.yiiGridView.getChecked(containerID,columnID)
'checked'=>'Yii::app()->user->getState($data->email_id)', // we are using the user session variable to store the checked row values, also considering here that email_ids are unique for your app, it would be best to use any field that is unique in the table
),
),
));
?>
Pay special attention to the code for beforeAjaxUpdate and CCheckBoxColumn, in beforeAjaxUpdate we are passing checkedIds as a csv string of all the ids(in this case email_ids) that have been checked and uncheckedIds as a csv string of all the unchecked ids, we get the unchecked boxes by calling a function getUncheckeds(), which follows shortly. Please take note here, that when i was testing i had used an integer id field (of my table) as the unique field, and not an email field.
The getUncheckeds() function can be registered like this anywhere in the view file for gridview:
Yii::app()->clientScript->registerScript('getUnchecked', "
function getUncheckeds(){
var unch = [];
/*corrected typo: $('[name^=someChec]') => $('[name^=someChecks]') */
$('[name^=someChecks]').not(':checked,[name$=all]').each(function(){unch.push($(this).val());});
return unch.toString();
}
"
);
In the above function pay attention to the selectors and each and push function.
With that done, we need to modify the controller/action for this view.
public function actionShowGrid(){
// some code already existing
// additional code follows
if(isset($_GET['checkedIds'])){
$chkArray=explode(",", $_GET['checkedIds']);
foreach ($chkArray as $arow){
Yii::app()->user->setState($arow,1);
}
}
if(isset($_GET['uncheckedIds'])){
$unchkArray=explode(",", $_GET['uncheckedIds']);
foreach ($unchkArray as $arownon){
Yii::app()->user->setState($arownon,0);
}
}
// rest of the code namely render()
}
That's it, it should work now.
For developing that scheme you would need to know working of what happens when you navigate.
When ever you navigate to a pagination page ajax calls are made and new data is received and it is fetched from CActive Record or what ever the data source. New data is in accordance of database records or source records. when you come back to previous page again Ajax call is made and content is updated so same comes as it is in database.
what i feel is you should save data of checked items temporary and make it permanent if action is made.
You can do something like this
<script type="text/javascript">
$("input:checkbox").click(function () {
var thisCheck = $(this);
if (thisCheck.is (':checked')){
// do what you want here, the way to access the text is using the
// $(this) selector. The following code would output pop up message with
// the selected checkbox text
$(this).val());
}
});
</script>
you can save temporary storage somewhere
Also make this work on normal form submit:
I wanted to add this as a comment on bool.dev's answer, but I do not have enough reputation to do that yet. So I had to put it in a separate answer.
bool.dev, your answer is great and it works well, thanx.
However, as intended, it only works when ajax calls update the gridview. I have the gridview forming part of a form, so I wanted it to also work on normal submission of the form, otherwise the checkboxes are not loaded again when there are other validation errors on the form.
So, in ADDITION to what you did, I added hidden fields on my form e.g.:
<input type="hidden" name='checkedBox1' id='checkedBox1' value=''>
<input type="hidden" name='uncheckedBox1' id='uncheckedBox1' value=''>
Then, before submitting the form, my sumbit button runs your getChecked() and getUncheckeds() functions and store their results in the hidden fields:
if ($('#checkedBox1').length >0) {$('[name=checkedBox1]').val(getChecked());}
if ($('#uncheckedBox1').length >0) {$('[name=uncheckedBox1]').val(getUncheckeds());}
In the controller, besides from checking for $_GET['checkedIds'], you also check for $_POST['checkedBox1'] and store its values to session in the same way you do for $_GET['checkedIds'], using the same session variable.
Do the same with $_POST['uncheckedBox1'].
That should work.

Is there a way to apply logical not to a form validation rule?

Is there this possibility to have:
$config = array(
array(
'field' => 'data',
'label' => 'data1',
'rules' => 'trim|required|!numeric'
)
);
And the logic for that must be: trim it, required, and it must not be only numbers.
Any way to accomplish that without extending the library or writing my own functions? I want this data to be alpha_dash+numeric, not only numeric but can be only alpha.
Thank you in advance
i think you can only use a callback

Zend Form Edit and Zend_Validate_Db_NoRecordExists

I am slowly building up my Zend skills by building some utility websites for my own use. I have been using Zend Forms and Form validation and so far have been happy that I have been understanding the Zend way of doing things. However I am a bit confused with how to use Zend_Validate_Db_NoRecordExists() in the context of an edit form and a field that maps to database column that has to be unique.
For example using this simple table
TABLE Test
(
ID INT AUTO_INCREMENT,
Data INT UNIQUE
);
If I was simply adding a new row to the Table Test, I could add a validator to the Zend Form element for the Data field as such:
$data = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('Data');
$data->addValidator( new Zend_Validate_Db_NoRecordExists('Test', 'Data') )
At form validation this validator will check that the contents of the Data element does not already exist in the table. Thus the insert into Test can go ahead without violating the Data fields UNIQUE qualifier.
However the situation is different when editing an existing row of the Test table. In that case the validator needs to check that the element value meets one of two mutually exclusive conditions conditions:
The user has changed the element value, and the new value does not currently
exist in the table.
The user has Not changed the element value. Thus the value does currently exist in the table (and this is OK).
The Zend Validation Docs talk about adding a parameter to the NoRecordExists() validator for the purpose of excluding records from the validation process. The idea being to "validate the table looking for any matching rows, but ignore any hits where the a field has this specific value". Such a use case is what is needed for the validating the element when editing a table. The pseudo code to do this in 1.9 is like so (actually I got this from the 1.9 source code - I think the current docs may be wrong):
$data = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('Data');
$data->addValidator( new Zend_Validate_Db_NoRecordExists('Test', 'Data',
array ('field'=>'Data', 'Value'=> $Value) );
The problem is that the value that is to be excluded ($Value) is bound to the validator at the time it is instantiated (also when the form is instantiated). But when the form is editing a record, that value needs to be bound to the contents of the $data field when the form was initially populated with data - IE the Data value initially read from the Test table row. But in typical Zend patterns a form is instantiated and populated in two separate steps which precludes binding the exclude value to the desired element value.
The following Zend psuedo code marks where I would like the binding of $Value to the NoRecordExists() validator to occur (and note that this is a common Zend controller pattern):
$form = new Form()
if (is Post) {
$formData = GetPostData()
if ($form->isValid($formData)) {
Update Table with $formData
Redirect out of here
} else {
$form->populate($formData)
}
} else {
$RowData = Get Data from Table
$form->populate($RowData) <=== This is where I want ('value' => $Value) bound
}
I could sub-class Zend_Form and override the populate() method to do a one-shot insertion of the NoRecordExists() validator on initial form population, but that seems like a huge hack to me. So I wanted to know what other people think and is there some pattern already written down that solves this problem?
Edit 2009-02-04
I've been thinking that the only decent solution to this problem is to write a custom validator and forget about the Zend version. My form has the record ID as hidden field, so that given the table and column names I could craft some SQL to test for uniqueness and exclude the row with an ID of such an such. Of course this started me thinking about how I would be tying the form to the dB layer that the Model is supposed to hide!
This is how it's done:
I your FORM, you add this validator (for example email field):
$email->addValidator('Db_NoRecordExists', true, array('table' => 'user', 'field' => 'email'));
Don't add custom error message for this since after that it didn't work for me, e.g.:
$email->getValidator('Db_NoRecordExists')->setMessage('This email is already registered.');
In your Controller add this:
/* Don't check for Db_NoRecordExists if editing the same field */
$form->getElement('email')
->addValidator('Db_NoRecordExists',
false,
array('table' => 'user',
'field' => 'email',
'exclude' => array ('field' => 'id', 'value' => $this->request->get('id'))));
And after this you do verifications, e.g.:
if ($this->getRequest()->isPost())
{
if($form->isValid($this->getRequest()->getPost()))
{
....
That's it!
This will also work :
$this->addElement('text', 'email', array(
'label' => 'Your email address:',
'required' => true,
'filters' => array('StringTrim'),
'validators' => array(
'EmailAddress',
array('Db_NoRecordExists', true, array(
'table' => 'guestbook',
'field' => 'email',
'messages' => array(
'recordFound' => 'Email already taken'
)
)
)
)
));
After reviewing the overwhelming response I've decided that I'm going with a custom validator
Look at this one:
Answer raised by me and well-solved by Dickie
private $_id;
public function setId($id=null)
{
$this->_id=$id;
}
public function init()
{
.....
if(isset($this->_id)){
$email->addValidator('Db_NoRecordExists', false, array('table' => 'user', 'field' => 'email','exclude' => array ('field' => 'id', 'value' => $this->_id) ));
$email->getValidator('Db_NoRecordExists')->setMessage('This email is already registered.');
}
Now u can use:
$form = new Form_Test(array('id'=>$id));
You could just call $form->getElement('input')->removeValidator('Zend_Validator_Db_NoRecordExists'); instead of supplying the exclusion.
I have just tried this example for email address uniqueness and it works perfectly with below stuffs :
1] In my form:
// Add an email element
$this->addElement('text', 'email', array(
'label' => 'Email :',
'required' => true,
'filters' => array('StringTrim'),
'validators' => array(
'EmailAddress',
)
));
Here's something special that I needed to add for unique email address to work:
$email = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('email');
$email->addValidator('Db_NoRecordExists', true, array('table' => 'guestbook', 'field' => 'email'));
2] In my controller:
$form->getElement('email')
->addValidator('Db_NoRecordExists',
false,
array('table' => 'guestbook',
'field' => 'email',
'exclude' => array ('field' => 'id', 'value' => $request->get('id'))));
if ($this->getRequest()->isPost()) {
if ($form->isValid($request->getPost())) {
Hope it helps you people !
Thanks
