How to get current date in codeigniter in YY-mm-dd format. I wants to get current date in YY-mm-dd frmat and put this value into input text box
You can use the PHP date function.
date('Y-m-d');
Up to my knowledge, there is no separate date function in codeigniter.
EDIT :
But if you want date in this format 13-04-05 [ yy-mm-dd ], Try this
date('y-m-d');
For more date formats, check this link PHP Date Formats
Try to use this is a generic format of DateTime
echo date('Y-m-d H:i:s');
use php date function
echo date("Y-m-d");
will give you the result
What about:
$date = new \Datetime('now');
var_dump($date);
if you want the full date:
echo date('Y-m-d');
depends your date structure.
echo date('d-m-Y');
if you want year only, then echo date('Y'); is enough
Use php date() function, like this
echo Date('Y/m/d');
it give you the desired result!

My API outputs the DateTime in the following format:
2018-06-17T09:07:00Z
How do I display this in a more meaningful way, say, 17/06/2018.
I looked at the Manual: http://php.net/manual/en/datetime.formats.date.php however still wasn't able to find a way to achieve this.
$eventStart = "2018-06-17T09:07:00Z";
You can format it like the below code in PHP:
echo date('d/m/Y', strtotime('2018-06-17T09:07:00Z'));
Use Below code.
date('d/m/Y', strtotime('2018-06-17T09:07:00Z'));
Use Date Format :
$inputDate = "2018-06-17T09:07:00Z";
echo date('d/m/Y', strtotime($inputDate));
Convert the string in time and then format the date which you want
Date-Format option
$date = '2018-06-17T09:07:00Z';
echo date('d/m/Y', strtotime($date));
Format the date, but first convert the string to time.
echo date('d/m/Y', strtotime($inputDate));
I have a variable is which the value coming is Date along with time in php. How do I convert it into a variable to get only the year? I do not need automatic updation but the format change is needed. Normal answers are giving it about date but my variable is containing time as well.
The format coming by now is 2017-12-11 4:06:37 and i need only 2017
Use like this:
<?php echo date('Y',strtotime('now'));?>
You can you simple DateTime function and date_formate() function for displaying separate year, month and date.
For that you have to first convert in Object of your current Date time string by using :
$date = new \DateTime('2017-12-11 4:06:37');
And then you can use date format function by using below code:
echo date_format($date, "Y"); //for Display Year
echo date_format($date, "m"); //for Display Month
echo date_format($date, "d"); //for Display Date
You can code like this (working perfectly):
$format = 'Y-m-d H:i:s';
$date = DateTime::createFromFormat($format, '2009-02-15 15:16:17');
echo "Format: $format; " . $date->format('Y') . "\n";
As mentioned by Himanshu Upadhyay, this is correct and the easiest way.
<?php
echo date('Y',strtotime('now'));
?>
But i would recommend you to read this here. You should really do actually!
By using DateTime class
$date = new \DateTime('2017-12-11 4:06:37');
echo $date->format('Y');
I want to store a specific date in a variable. If stored like $x="01/01/2016" it is acting as a string from which I cannot extract a part, like from getdate() year, month, day of the month, etc.
Use the DateTime object:
$dateTime = new DateTime('2016/01/01');
To get only parts of the date you can use the format method:
echo $dateTime->format('Y'); // it will display 2016
If you need to create it from the format you wrote in the question, then you can use the factory method createFromFormat:
$dateTime = DateTime::createFromFormat('d/m/Y', '01/01/2016');
echo $dateTime->format('Y/m/d');
This is work for me
$date = '20/May/2015:14:00:01';
$dateInfo = date_parse_from_format('d/M/Y:H:i:s', $date);
$unixTimestamp = mktime(
$dateInfo['hour'], $dateInfo['minute'], $dateInfo['second'],
$dateInfo['month'], $dateInfo['day'], $dateInfo['year'],
$dateInfo['is_dst']
);
this is what you are looking for http://php.net/manual/en/class.datetime.php
You can use $myDate = new DateTime('01/01/2016'); to declare date. To get year, month and date from the specified date, use echo $myDate->format('d m Y');
Change the format based on your need. To know more about date format refer
I'm comparing a date with current date(i.e. today's date). It is expected that the error should come only when the date to be compared is greater than today's date. It should not come for date which is less than or equal to today's date.
I've written following code for it.
$submission_date = $_POST['submission_date']; //The date in mm-dd-yyyy format that is to be tested against today's date. The value in $submission date is 12-25-2014
//This is a future date. Today's date is 12-10-2014 in dd-mm-yyyy format
$current_date = date('m-d-Y');
if (strtotime($submission_date) > strtotime($current_date))
{
echo "Future date not accepted";
}
With the above code I'm not getting errors for future dates, sometimes I'm getting error for previous dates as well.
How to optimize and make this code correct and standard?
If posted format is in m-d-Y, then you cannot convert it to unix timestamp directly with strtotime() function, because it will return false.
If you need to use strtotime() then change the input format to m/d/Y by simple str_replace().
On the other hand, you could use DateTime class, where you can directly compare objects:
$submission_date = DateTime::createFromFormat('!m-d-Y', $submission_date);
$today_date = new DateTime('today');
if ($submission_date > $today_date) {
echo "submission_date is in the future\n";
}
demo
If you need to extract some information from DateTime objects, use format() method on them, which accepts same format as date() function:
echo $today_date->format('m/d/Y'); # 12/11/2014
echo $today_date->format('m-d-Y'); # 12-11-2014
echo $today_date->format('Y-m-d'); # 2014-12-11
echo $today_date->format('Y-Y-Y'); # 2014-2014-2014
demo
I think you need to compare date in 'Y-m-d' or 'd-m-Y' format. I think it is not possible to compare date in 'm-d-Y' format
As we have made changes in your code and we test it works from my side so can you try below.
$submission_date = $_POST['submission_date'];
$current_date = date('d-m-y H:i:s');
if (strtotime($submission_date) > strtotime($current_date))
{
echo "Future date not accepted";
}
Hope this helps.
So I have a field in my database called 'DateTime' and the following lines of code:
echo "Date/Time: ";
echo $row['DateTime'];
How do I format it so that instead of being like this:'2013-02-07 22:14:56', it will be like this: '07/02/13 - 22:14'
Thanks.
Alternatively you could use:
DateTime::createFromFormat('Y/m/d H:i:s',$row['DateTime']); this will give you a datetime object, which are quite nice to work with.
Another alternative would be to have MySQL format the DATETIME value as a string in the desired format, using the DATE_FORMAT function.
SELECT DATE_FORMAT(`DateTime`,'%d/%m/%y - %H:%i') AS `DateTime`
...
No change required to your PHP code except for the SQL text sent to the database server.
This approach can very efficient, and reduce the amount of code you need, if all you are doing with this string is displaying it. If you are doing any sort of manipulation on this value, then casting the string value returned from MySQL resultset into a datetime object is probably a better way to go.
A demonstration of the DATE_FORMAT function:
SELECT DATE_FORMAT('2013-02-07 22:14:56','%d/%m/%y - %H:%i') AS `DateTime`
DateTime
----------------
07/02/13 - 22:14
how to output date into Year textbox Month textbox Day textbox
$book_date = $myrow["Publication_Day"];
$book_year = Date("Y", strtotime($book_date));
$timestamp contains ur date & time in any format.....................
date('Y/m/d - H:i',strtotime($timeStamp));
echo date('d/m/y H:i', strtotime($row['DateTime']));
See date and strtotime for more detail on the functions from the docs
$mytime = strtotime('2013-06-07 22:14:56');
$newDate = date('m/d/y - G:i', $mytime);
echo $newDate;
Here's an alternative using DateTime. If you're working with timezones this code can be easily modified to handle that.
$datetime = new DateTime('2013-02-07 22:14:56');
echo $datetime->format('d/m/y H:i');
