I have code like this:
$p = $db->query("SELECT ads_id FROM ads_submissions WHERE status = '0'");
$c_ads = array();
while($row = $db->fetchAll($p))
{
$c_ads[] = $row;
}
Output
4 6 9
I want to add this line to $new_ads = $db-> after WHERE
AND ads_id = !in_array('$output', $c_ads)
To select all ads_id except id 4 and 6 and 9
$new_ads = $db->fetchOne("SELECT ads_id FROM ads_pack WHERE allowed_countries LIKE '%".$country_tr."%'");
But this never work correctly.
Any help please ?
Thank you.
you should do it like this
AND ads_id NOT IN ( implode(',', $c_ads) )
There's no such thing as in array in sql. There's simply result sets. you want
AND ads_id NOT IN (4,6,9)
Could you rewrite this using a subquery, instead of running 2 queries?
"SELECT ads_id FROM ads_pack WHERE allowed_countries LIKE '%".$country_tr."%' AND ads_id NOT IN (SELECT ads_id FROM ads_submissions WHERE status = '0')"

I have two different tables of the following structure:
grouprel
id | userId | pupID | groupId
pupils
id | userId | fname | lname
pupId in groulrel is equal to id in pupils.
I want to fetch pupils from a different group and then order them by fname, lname.
Now I have two queries like this:
$q = "SELECT * FROM grouprel WHERE userid = ". $userid ." AND groupId = ". $_GET['id'] ."";
$r = mysqli_query($mysqli, $q);
while ($rows = mysqli_fetch_object($r)) {
$query = "SELECT id, fname, lname FROM pupils WHERE userid = ". $userid ." AND id = ". $rows->pupId ." AND status = 0 ORDER BY fname, lname";
$result = mysqli_query($mysqli, $query);
while($row = mysqli_fetch_object($result)) {
echo stuff...
}
}
This works, but it doesn't order the names alphabetically like I want to.
How could I fix this?
This is iterating over the first query:
while ($rows = mysqli_fetch_object($r)) {
And this iterates over each instance of the second query:
while($row = mysqli_fetch_object($result)) {
So if the first query returns 1,2,3, and each iteration of the second query returns A,B, then your output would be:
1 A
1 B
2 A
2 B
3 A
3 B
The second query is ordering by the ORDER BY clause you gave it. But you are ordering the entire output by the first query.
Ultimately, why do you need these separate queries at all? Executing a database query in a loop is almost always the wrong idea. It looks like all you need is one query with a simple JOIN. Guessing on your logic, something like this:
SELECT
pupils.id, pupils.fname, pupils.lname
FROM
pupils
INNER JOIN grouprel ON pupils.id = grouprel.pupId
WHERE
pupils.userid = ?
AND grouprel.groupId = ?
AND pupils.status = 0
ORDER BY
fname, lname
It may take a little tweaking to match exactly what you're looking for, but you can achieve your goal with a single query instead of multiple separate queries. Then the results of that query will be ordered the way you told MySQL to order them, instead of the way you told PHP to order them.
I'm trying to do 2 things.
1) Get the amount of rows in this query
SELECT
COUNT(*)
FROM
`my_table`
WHERE
`column_1` = 152
AND
`column_2` = 42
ORDER BY
`column_3`
As you can see that is no problem ^^
2) Determine the number within the range of rows that is returned by id
Ex: ID 765 is Item 4 of 7 where column_1 = 152 and column_3 = 42
Does anyone have any basic solutions to this problem with almost pure MySQL? I'd like to avoid iterating through all the rows and setup a counter to increment until it matches current id like this:
$sql = '
SELECT
*
FROM
`my_table`
WHERE
`column_1` = 152
AND
`column_2` = 42
ORDER BY
`column_3`
';
$query = mysqli_query($sql);
$current_id = 2523;
$i = 1;
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($query)) {
if ($row['id'] == $current_id) {
$current_position = $i;
}
$i++;
}
print 'Current position in range is: '. $current_position;
Also please don't worry about the actual syntax, I won't be using this exact script, but you get the logic that I'd like to avoid using. If anyone has a better solution, please let me know. Thanks in advance!!
I have an issue with my code. I have 2 tables. First employee_id:
|Employee id|
1
2
3
And the second table called employee_times:
|Employee_id|Hours_dev|hours_pm|
|1|2|3|
|1|3|4|
|2|3|3|
What I am trying to do is to calculate the total time that each employee has worked (hours_dev+hours_pm). For example employee_id 1 has worked 12 hours
So far I have tried to retrieve all the employee_id from the first table and use a for loop to go through the employee_times in an SQL statement (SEE CODE BELOW). However the code does not work as it prints 0 for both employee_id and total_hours.
I am using MYSQL on a localhost server.
$sql = "SELECT employee_id FROM employee";
$result = mysql_query($sql);
while($row = mysql_fetch_array)
{
$employee_id = $row['employee_id'];
}
$employee_id_length = sizeof($employee_id);
for($i = 0; $i < $employee_id_length; $i++)
{
$sql4 = "SELECT employee_id, hours_dev, hours_pm FROM employee_times WHERE employee_id= '$employee_id[$i]'";
$result = mysql_query($sql4);
while($info = mysql_fetch_array($result));
{
$employee_id = $info['employee_id'];
$hours_dev=$info['hours_dev'];
$hours_pm=$info['hours_pm'];
$total_hours = ($total_hours + $hours_dev + $hours_pm );
}
//print "$employee_id worked for $total_hours";
}
Any help is much appreciated.
you can get sum directly
select employee_id, sum(hours_dev)+ sum(hours_pm) as total
from employee_times WHERE employee_id= '1'
group by employee_id
refer this Fiddle Demo
this should get the data you need
SELECT
hours_dev,
hours_pm,
sum(hours_dev) + sum(hours_pm) as total_hours
FROM
employee_times
WHERE
employee_id = 123
GROUP BY
employee_id
Take a look at aggregate functions:
http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_functions.asp
http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_func_sum.asp
This SQL query should pull the info much quicker than by script;
SELECT Employee_id, SUM(Hours_dev), SUM(Hours_pm), SUM(Hours_dev + Hours_pm)
FROM employee_times
GROUP BY Employee_id
I've been looking for this for a while but with no success.
I am trying to implement a recomendation bar, for example like in youtube, when you are seeing a video it shows the list or recommended videos on the right.
At this moment I am using this method:
$offset_result = mysql_query( " SELECT FLOOR(RAND() * COUNT(*)) AS `offset` FROM `$tablename` ");
$offset_row = mysql_fetch_object($offset_result );
$offset = $offset_row->offset;
$result_rand = mysql_query( " SELECT * FROM `$tablename` LIMIT $offset, 9 " );
This works fine, but sometimes doesn't show any result, and the problem is also that its not completely random, because it shows for example the first ID as 200, so the next result will be id 201 and then 202 and so.
I would like to know if there is a way to show this 9 randon results, for example 1º result id 500, 2º result id 10, 3º result id 788, etc etc?
Thank you
Not entirely sure this answers what you are looking for, but try:
$result_rand = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM " . $tablename . " ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 9");
You can use php rand() function to create 5 numbers and save them in an array:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.rand.php
<?php
$rand_array = array();
for($i=1;$i<5;$i++) {
$rand_array[$i] = rand(0,500);
}
?>
and after that create a query with every int with a foreach loop and work with your data.
<?php
foreach ($rand_array as $integer) {
$q = "SELECT * from $tablename WHERE id='$integer';";
}
?>
Does this helps?
First you should use mysqli_ functions instead of mysql_ because the latter is deprecated. Second use order by rand() to get random rows:
$rand_result = mysqli_query( "SELECT * FROM $tablename ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 9;" );
UNTESTED:
SELECT id, #rownum:=#rownum+1 AS rownum, name
FROM users u,
(SELECT #rownum:=0) r
THis will give a unique number to each row in sequence. Now if you create a temp table with 9 random numbers between 1 and count(*) of your table and JOIN those two together...
Not sure about performance but seems like it might be faster than Rand and order by since I only need 9 random numbers
I have a query like this
$sql = "SELECT SUM(CASE WHEN jr_softwarecheck LIKE \'%sony\' AND
jr_othersoftware LIKE \'%sony%\' THEN 2 ELSE 1 END) AS totalcount FROM
jos_jreviews_content WHERE jr_softwarecheck LIKE \'%sony%\' OR
jr_othersoftware LIKE \'%sony%\'";
I want to output results in HTML pages. I run a Joomla based site.
How can I do that?
Sorry but I'm not so skilled in PHP, I'm learning.
Expected result in HTML page (frontend), example:
SONY Products: 105
Thanks in advance to all!
In your case, use it like this:
$sql = "SELECT SUM(CASE WHEN jr_softwarecheck LIKE \'%sony\' AND jr_othersoftware LIKE \'%sony%\' THEN 2 ELSE 1 END) AS totalcount FROM jos_jreviews_content WHERE jr_softwarecheck LIKE \'%sony%\' OR jr_othersoftware LIKE \'%sony%\'";
$res = mysql_query($sql); // This will run the query on the connected datababse
if($row = mysql_fetch_array($res)){ // Since you are using just a SUM to count results, you don't need to loop
echo "Sony Products: ".$row['totalcount']; // $row['totalcount'] is the result of the totalcount from your MySQL query put into the $row variable
}
I hope this helps you out :)
$result = mysql_query($sql) or die (mysql_error());
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
//do something
}
