I'm working on a shopping cart and I'm having some difficulties with a concept.
Basicly, I remove two articles in a certain condition and it works perfectly.
My problem is that I want to redirect the user instantly if these two articles are removed from the cart.
When I enter the window.location, it is refreshing the page but it's not updating the cart from the ajax call.
So what I want to achieve is that after these two ajax calls, i want to be redirected but also, the ajax call should do their things in the delete_item.php :)
I'm using jQuery inside a normal javascript file on a certain function.
function deleted(id, pozitie) {
var msg = 0;
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.' + id).each(function() {
$(this).remove();
$('.sm').remove();
ajaxpage("delete_item.php?id="+pozitie+"&ord="+ordrno,"error");
ajaxpage("delete_item.php?id="+(pozitie+1)+"&ord="+ordrno,"error");
window.location="http://mypage.com/offer";
msg = 1;
});
});
Use a callback function and redirect your page if your ajax call return success. Hope it works.
ajaxpage("delete_item.php?id="+pozitie+"&ord="+ordrno,"error",callbackfn);
Callback funfction:
function callbackfn(){
window.location="http://mypage.com/offer";
}

I have created a ajax file handle after click add_to_cart. but my problem is my ajax file always run before woocommerce file (like my picture). How to run my custom ajax after woocommerce ajax add_to_cart ?
However its not a good practice, you can try the below code :
$('.add_to_cart_button').on('click',function(){
/** write your code here **/
});
Hope this helps
So I realize this post is old but I am experience the same problem. I used setTimeout to delay the ajax request by 500ms
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
console.log('ajax-minicart.js loaded');
// What event do we want our AJAX to fire on? ADDING A PRODUCT TO CART.
$('.ajax_add_to_cart').on('click', function () {
// Fix
setTimeout( function () {
console.log('clicked');
// What data do we need to send? URL TO AJAX, ACTIONS
$.post(my_ajax_obj.ajax_url, {
_ajax_nonce: my_ajax_obj.nonce,
action: 'update_minicart',
}, function(response) {
// What do we want to do with response? REFRESH CART
console.log(response);
$('.cart-container').html(response);
});
}, 500);
});
});
I'm not sure of the stability or future-proofing of this fix but it works for now. I'd appreciate any information on why this happens myself.
I have these two form that I want to use both on one page without a refresh. The html,validator and the php is working, but it seems to be ignoring this js file to execute the ajax and load messages on the page.How do I write an if statement? Or what are other suggestions to get if one form is filled out to execute this code?
Full Form execution
contact.js File
$(document).on('submit', '#contact-form', function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
// your ajax call
});
you are using .on() event onot correctly you have to use it like
$('#contact-form').on('submit', function (e) {
// your ajax call
}
instead of $('#contact-form').on('#submit', function (e) { }
have a look at your script again.
I want to remove a some record from my database while clicking on delete button. Currently I am using this code:
function removeItem(id) {
$.ajax({
url:"removeItem_checkOut.php",
type:"GET",
data:"id="+id,
success:function(content) {
window.location.reload();
}
});
}
In removeItem_checkOUt.php I am simply running the delete query.
It works fine for me, but the problem with this code is that it reload the entire page. I just want to do it without reloading the page.
Simple saying is this that the functionality of the above code is good but i am unable to do it without the reloading the page. Until the page reload, it is does not disappear for the page.
Can anyone help me please....
Remove the "window.location.reload();" line from your success callback.
This line is telling your ajax call to reload the window after it has been successfully executed.
function removeItem(id) {
$.ajax({
url:"removeItem_checkOut.php",
type:"GET",
data:"id="+id,
success:function(html) {
$('#div_contains_data').html(html); //put your div id of the content (if it is a table use that table inside a div)
}
});
}
and in your removeItem_checkOut.php print again the same data part that the div contains(here assumed as table.so print the table in your php file again).
I am programming an online PHP-based fantasy pet simulation game. I am not very familiar with AJAX, so please keep this in mind when answering.
On pet pages, I would like users to be able to feed/water/play with their pets without needing to reload the entire page - that's why I'm using AJAX. Here's what I have so far:
Working Script
$(function() {
$(".petcareFood").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$("#petcareFood").load($(this).attr("href"));
});
});
$(function() {
$(".petcareWater").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$("#petcareWater").load($(this).attr("href"));
});
});
$(function() {
$(".petcarePlay").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$("#petcarePlay").load($(this).attr("href"));
});
});
</script>
Working HTML
<a class=\"petcareFood\" href=\"petcare.php?pet=#&action=#\">Feed Your Pet</a>
<a class=\"petcareWater\" href=\"petcare.php?pet=#&action=#\">Water Your Pet</a>
<a class=\"petcarePlay\" href=\"petcare.php?pet=#&action=#\">Play With Your Pet</a>
NOW, everything that I listed above works like a charm! This is my problem: I want those links to also update another DIV - the one which contains updated status bars showing how hungry/thirsty/unhappy their pet is. Currently, I am doing that like this:
The Almost Working Script
$(function() {
$(".petcareFood").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$('#petcareHunger').load('ajax/hunger.php?pet=#');
});
});
$(function() {
$(".petcareWater").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$('#petcareThirst').load('ajax/thirst.php?pet=#');
});
});
$(function() {
$(".petcarePlay").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$('#petcareMood').load('ajax/mood.php?pet=#');
});
});
The script above makes it so that when a user clicks one of the HTML links, it updates two DIVS (one DIV containing the message displayed when a user feeds/waters/plays with their pet, and the other containing the status bar). Now... that seems all fine well and good, BUT... if both scripts update at exactly same time, then the PHP that handles the status bar is not updated - it's still retrieving old information.
My question to all of you is: Is there any way that I can delay running the second set of script (so that it will update after the PHP makes changes to MySQL)?
I tried inserting this before "the almost working script":
setTimeout(function() {
$('#petcareMood').load('ajax/mood.php?pet=#');
}, 2000);
However, it doesn't work. Well - it does, but just once. Users need to play with their pets at least 3 times a day to achieve 100% happiness, and so delaying the second DIV only once doesn't cut it for me. When I tried adding the same script multiple times, it just stopped working all together. What can I do?!
If you'd like to see screen shots of how things are working, please just ask. I will be happy to provide them upon request.
Thank you in advance!
Instead of a hardcoded delay time, you maybe could use the callback function of the first ajax action:
//trigger first ajax
$("#petcarePlay").load($(this).attr("href"), function(){
//trigger second ajax call, when first is completed
$('#petcareHunger').load('ajax/hunger.php?pet=#');
});
see http://api.jquery.com/load/
You could use the complete parameter to specify a callback function that gets executed when the request completes. Then from within the callback, execute another request which actually updates the divs.
Example:
$(".petcareWater").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$("#petcareWater").load($(this).attr("href"), function(response, status, xhr) {
// code here to make another request for stats
}
});
Alternatively, you could have the initial URLs return some JSON data that contain the updated stats so when a person does something to/with their pet, it returns all the stats so you can immediately update the div's all with one call rather than having to make a secondary call for the data.
I'm not sure, but i think the ajax constructor is better for your purpose http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/.
There you can set that the AJAX will be synchronous(It will wait to finish the AJAX callback )
Here is a few theory about it :)
http://javascript.about.com/od/ajax/a/ajaxasyn.htm
Instead of setTimeout, use setInterval. When it's no longer needed, you can kill it using clearInterval.
setInterval will execute a given function every n milliseconds.
Finally, I find some article in http://code.google.com/intl/en/web/ajaxcrawling/docs/getting-started.html msnbc use this method. Thanks for all the friends.
Thanks for your all help. I will study it for myself :-}
Today, I updated my question again, remove all of my code. Maybe my thinking all wrong.
I want make a products show page.
One is index.php, another is search.php (as a jquery box page). index.php has some products catagory lists; each click on product catagory item will pass each value to search.php. search.php will create a mysql query and view products details. It(search.php) also has a search box.(search.php can turn a page to show multiple products; the search result looks similar to a jQuery gallery...).
I need to do any thing in search.php but without refreshing index.php.
I tried many method while I was thinking: Make search.php as an iframe (but can not judge search.php height when it turn page and index.php without refresh); use jquery ajax/json pass value from index.php to search.php, then get back all page's value to index.php. (still met some url rule trouble. php depend on url pass values in search.php, but if the value change, the two page will refresh all. )
so. I think, ask, find, try...
Accidental, I find a site like my request.
in this url, change search word after %3D, only the box page refresh
in this url, change search word after = the page will refresh
I found somthing in its source code, is this the key rules?
<script type="text/javascript">
var fastReplace = function() {
var href = document.location.href;
var siteUrl = window.location.port ? window.location.protocol+'//'+window.location.hostname +':'+window.location.port : window.location.protocol+'//'+window.location.hostname;
var delimiter = href.indexOf('#!') !== -1 ? '#!wallState=' : '#wallState=';
var pieces = href.split(delimiter);
if ( pieces[1] ) {
var pieces2 = pieces[1].split('__');
if ( pieces2[1] && pieces2[1].length > 1) {
window.location.replace( unescape(pieces2[1].replace(/\+/g, " ")));
}
}
}();
</script>
If so. in my condition. one page is index.php. another is search.php.
How to use js make a search url like
index.php#search.php?word=XXX&page=XXX
then how to pass value from one to another and avoid refreshing index.php?
Still waiting for help, waiting for some simple working code, only js, pass value get value.
Thanks to all.
I have read your problem, though I can not write complete code for you (lack of time ) So I can suggest you to what to do for your best practice
use dataType ='json' in jQuery.ajax function and
write json_encode() on B.php
and json_decode() on A.php or $.getJSON()
Alternate:
Read
jQuery.load()
assuming you really want to do something like here: http://powerwall.msnbc.msn.com/
I guess they are using a combination of ajax-requests and something like this: http://tkyk.github.com/jquery-history-plugin/
make shure that the navigation (all links, etc.) in the box works via ajax - check all the links and give them new functionality by js. you can write some function which requests the href url via ajax and then replace the content of your box. ...
function change_box_links(output_area){
output_area.find('a').each(function(){
$(this).bind('click', function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var url = $(this).attr('href');
$.ajax({
url: url,
success: function(data){
output_area.html(data);
//update url in addressbar
change_box_links(output_area);
}
});
});
});
}
it is upgradeable but shell show the main idea...

Get away from thinking you will have two files, that can handle some many "boxes". i mean you can do this but it's worth it.
but to be able to set up your templates like normal html page you could use the above script to parse the ajax requested html pages.
build your html-pages for
viewing the content,
viewing the search result
, etc.
on your main page you have to provide some "box" where you can display what u need. i recommand a div:
<div id="yourbox"></div>
your main page has buttons to display that box with different content, like in the example page you have showed us. if you click one of those a JS will create an ajax call to the desired page:
(here with jquery)
$('#showsearch_button').bind('click', function(){showsearch();});
function show_search() {
$.ajax({
url: 'search.php',
success: function(data){
var output_area = $('#yourbox');
output_area.html(data);
$.address.hash('search');
change_box_links(output_area);
}
});
});
for other buttons you will have similar functions.
the first function (see above) provides that the requested box-content can be written as a normal html page (so you can call it as stand-alone as well). here is the update of it where it also provides the hashtag url changes:
jquery and requireing the history-plugin
function change_box_links(output_area){
output_area.find('a').each(function(){
$(this).bind('click', function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var url = $(this).attr('href');
$.ajax({
url: url,
success: function(data){
output_area.html(data);
var name = url.replace('/\.php/','');
$.address.hash(name);
change_box_links(output_area);
}
});
});
});
}
and you will need some kind of this function, which will bind the back and forward buttons of your browser:
$.address.change(function(event) {
var name = $.address.hash();
switch(name){
case 'search': show_search(); break;
default: alert("page not found: "+name);
}
});
the above code should give an idea of how you can solve your problem. you will have to be very consequnt with filenames if you just copy and past this. again: it is improveable but shell show you the trick ;-)
im not sure that i fully understood what you want, but correct me if i didnt,
i think u need something like a dropdown that once the user select one item some div inside ur page show the result of another page result..
if so u can do it with jquery .load() and here is an example (no need for json)
Step 1:
Index.php
<p>
brand:<select id=jquerybrand>$jquerybrands</select><br />
Model:<select id=jquerycars></select><br />
</p>
<script type=\"text/javascript\">
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#jquerybrand').change(function(){
var value=$(this).value;
var url='api/quick.php?'+this.id+'='+this.value+' option';
$('#jquerycars').load(url);
});
});
</script>
This will simply show 2 dowpdown boxs (can be text or anything u like). and will add a listener to any change in value. once changed it will submit the id of the field and the new value to api/quick.php , then quick.php responce will be loaded into #jquerycars dropdown.
Step 2 quick.php
if(isset($_GET['jquerybrand'])){
$jquerycars="";
require_once("../lib/database.php");
$sql_db = new database();
$l=$sql_db->Item_in_table("car","sheet1","WHERE `brand`='$jquerybrand';");
foreach($l as $l)$jquerycars .="<option>$l</option>";
echo $jquerycars;//response that will replace the old #jquerycars
}
this will confirm that this is a request to get the query result only, then it will do the query and echo the results.
now once the results come back it will replace the old :)
hope it helps :).
