I have a problem where the values entered (email and password) into my login form are not being parsed to my server php script.
My ajax request:
function signin(){
var loginEmail = gebi("loginEmail").value;
var loginPass = gebi("loginPass").value;
if(loginEmail == "" || loginPass == ""){
gebi("loginEmail").style.borderColor = "red";
gebi("loginPass").style.borderColor = "red";
} else {
gebi("signinBtn").style.display = "none";
//Declare ajax request variables
hr = new XMLHttpRequest();
url = "main.php";
vars = "email="+loginEmail+"&pass="+loginPass;
//Open the PHP file that is receiving the request
hr.open("POST", url, true);
//Set content type header info for sending url ecncoded variable in the request
hr.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
//Trim string data before sending it
if (!String.prototype.trim) {
String.prototype.trim = function () {
return this.replace(/^\s+|\s+$/g, '');
};
}
//Access the onreadystatechange event for the XMLHttpRequest
hr.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (hr.readyState == 4 && hr.status == 200) {
var responseText = hr.responseText.trim();
if (responseText != "signin_failed") {
console.log(responseText);
} else {
console.log(responseText);
gebi("signinBtn").style.display = "block";
gebi("loginEmail").style.borderColor = "red";
gebi("loginPass").style.borderColor = "red";
}
}
}
//Send the data to the PHP file for processing and wait for responseText
hr.send(vars);
}
}
and when the php script returns a value using this code:
if (isset($_POST["email"])) {
echo 'email = '+$_POST["email"];
}
the return value that is logged to the console is '0' even tho there is data present in the forms fields.
What is going wrong?
The problem is in your PHP script. If you are trying to concatenate string in PHP use dot .. + is used to concatenate string in languages like javascript.
echo 'email = ' . $_POST["email"];

I try to use INSERT INTO to Database using AJAX with multi input data, but I Face some Problem when I send data more than one Input Data. Did I Missed something?
This's JS file
JAVASCRIPT
function ajaxSaveTitle() {
'use strict';
var vTitle = document.getElementById('inputTitle').value;
var vPrice = document.getElementById('inputPrice').value;
var vTitlev = "vTitlev=" + vTitle;
var vPricev = "vPricev=" + vPrice;
var tXhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
tXhr.onreadystatechange = function() {
if(this.readyState == 4 && this.status == 200) {
document.getElementById('linputTitle').innerHTML = this.responseText;
}
};
tXhr.open("POST","uploadfile.php","true");
tXhr.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
tXhr.send(vTitlev,vPricev);}
This is PHP file
PHP
<?php
session_start();
include_once('connect.php');
$currID = $_SESSION['user_id'][0];
if(!empty($_POST['vTitlev']) && !empty($_POST['vPricev'])) {
$fileTitle = $_POST['vTitlev'];
$fileTitle = stripslashes($fileTitle);
$fileTitle = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $fileTitle);
$filePrice = $_POST['vPricev'];
$filePrice = stripslashes($filePrice);
$filePrice = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $filePrice);
$qfileTitle = "INSERT INTO file (usr_ID, fileName, prc) VALUES
('$currID','$fileTitle','$filePrice')";
if(mysqli_query($con, $qfileTitle)) {
echo "Berhasil di Simpan";
} else {
echo("Error description: " . mysqli_error($con));
};
mysqli_close($con);}
?>
you should use send like that:
tXhr.send(vTitlev+'&'+vPricev);
it accepts a string as params: https://www.w3schools.com/xml/ajax_xmlhttprequest_send.asp
You have to send more data with use of &
change your send code
tXhr.send(vTitlev,vPricev);}
to
tXhr.send(vTitlev+"&"+vPricev);}
In case of post requests, your data should be bind with "&". Comma is invalid as send accept only one parameter.
Look at this https://www.w3schools.com/xml/ajax_xmlhttprequest_send.asp
Data should be like this
xhttp.send("fname=Henry&lname=Ford");
not this
xhttp.send("fname=Henry,lname=Ford");
I have a website, and all its files (html/js/css/php) are on the same remote host. I have a button on the site, when clicked it sends a httprequest to a PHP file, waiting for a response.
My site works perfect almost everywhere, but there is one place which when I connect to the wi-fi, when clicking the button it return whit the error ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE. Other buttons and PHP files work. It is only this specific button and in this specific wi-fi.
Does anyone know why does it happen and how to fix it?
details:
the button is <button class="btn btn-default col-sm-5" type="submit">
the onClick function:
function search() {
var param = "";
var firstParam = true;
var form = document.getElementById("formCS");
var name = document.getElementById("songName").value.trim();
if (name != "") {
firstParam = false;
param += "name=" + name;
}
var creator = document.getElementById("creator").value.trim();
if (creator != "") {
if (firstParam) {
param += "creator=" + creator;
firstParam = false;
} else {
param += "&creator=" + creator;
}
}
var type;
if (document.getElementById("partners").checked) {
type = "partners";
} else if (document.getElementById("circle").checked) {
type = "circle";
} else if (document.getElementById("lines").checked) {
type = "lines";
} else if (document.getElementById("none").checked) {
type = "";
}
if (type != "") {
if (firstParam) {
param += "type=" + type;
firstParam = false;
} else {
param += "&type=" + type;
}
}
var year = document.getElementById("year").value;
if (year != "none") {
if (firstParam) {
param += "year=" + year;
} else {
param += "&year=" + year;
}
}
var xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhttp.onreadystatechange = function () {
if (xhttp.readyState == 4 && xhttp.status == 200) {
handleResponse(xhttp.response);
}
};
xhttp.open("GET", "search.php?" + param, true);
xhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
xhttp.send();
}
the search.php file connects to a DB on the remote host and runs a sql query. nothing different from other buttons on the site.
the wi-fi is a free wi-fi provided by an academic institue.
after clicking the button there is an error in the console:
GET http://rikudim.info/search.php? net::ERR_EMPTY_REPONSE
I wrote a javascript function that checks if a username is available in a database. If the username is NOT available the ajax send a text response back which changes some css and adds an error message. When the username is available the ajax doesn't send a response, which is fine but I just need to know what is being returned from ajax.responseText since there is no value. I've tried '' and null.
function _(x) {
return document.getElementById(x);
}
function ajaxObj(meth, url) {
var x = new XMLHttpRequest();
x.open( meth, url, true );
x.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
return x;
}
function ajaxReturn(x) {
if(x.readyState == 4 && x.status == 200) {
return true;
}
}
function verifyEmail(){
var email = _("email").value;
var status = _("estatus");
var emailRegEx = /^[A-Z0-9._%+-]+#[A-Z0-9.-]+\.[A-Z]{2,4}$/i;
if (document.signupform.email.value.search(emailRegEx) == -1) {
_("emaildiv").style.border = "1px solid #d33e3e";
_("emaildiv").style.backgroundColor = "#fadede";
status.innerHTML = "<br />Please enter a valid email address";
} else {
_("emaildiv").style.border = "";
_("emaildiv").style.backgroundColor = "";
status.innerHTML = "";
if (email != "") {
status.innerHTML = "checking. . . ";
var ajax = ajaxObj("POST", "fan_signup_local.php");
ajax.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (ajaxReturn(ajax) == true) {
status.innerHTML = ajax.responseText;
console.log(status.innerHTML);
if (status.innerHTML !== '') {
_("emaildiv").style.border = "1px solid #d33e3e";
_("emaildiv").style.backgroundColor = "#fadede";
console.log(ajax.responseText);
} else {
_("emaildiv").style.border = "";
_("emaildiv").style.backgroundColor = "";
}
}
}
ajax.send("email="+email);
}
}
}
There's always a response, unless the request times out. If the server script exits without printing anything, the response will be an empty string.
I am trying to use fancybox iframe to call a PHP program for payment processing from a javascript program as part of a landing page. The page also calls another PHP program that writes date to a file. I tried to simulate a click to start the fancybox function but never got it to work. I keep getting this error - $("a.hiddenclicker").fancybox is not a function. I'm not sure whether to attempt to just add this logic to the PHP file or figure out how to get fancybox to work. Here is my page. The call to fancybox is in ProcessForm().
function WriteData(url) {
var j1 = document.getElementById("hiddenclicker");
var Request2 = false;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
Request2 = new XMLHttpRequest();
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
Request2 = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
if (Request2) {
Request2.open("GET", url, true);
Request2.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (Request2.readyState == 4 && Request2.status == 200) {
}
}
Request2.send(null);
}
}
function ProcessForm(form) {
var j1 = document.getElementById("hiddenclicker");
var firstname = "";
var lastname = "";
var payment = "";
var email = "";
var phone = "";
var donation = "";
firstname = form.firstname.value;
lastname = form.lastname.value;
email = form.email.value;
phone = form.phone.value;
donation = form.donation.value;
if (firstname == "") {
alert("You must fill in the first name");
form.firstname.focus();
return false;
}
else {
if (lastname == "") {
alert("You must fill in last name");
form.lastname.focus();
return false;
}
else {
if (email == "") {
alert("You must fill in email address");
form.email.focus();
return false; }
}
}
WriteData("writedata.php?firstname=" + firstname + "&lastname=" + lastname + "&email=" + email + "&phone=" + phone + "&donation=" + donation);
if (donation == "now") {
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
$("a.hiddenclicker").fancybox(
{
'width' : 600,
'height' : 400,
'hideOnContentClick' : false,
'type' : 'iframe'
});
});
j1.href = "http://www.ccyakids.org/donation_logic/donation_start.php#form";
$('#hiddenclicker').trigger('click');
}
}
// End hiding JavaScript statements -->
HTML needed to trigger hiddenclicker
Hidden Clicker
After looking at your code you reference your link 2 different ways:
$("a.hiddenclicker") // class
$('#hiddenclicker') // ID
Which is it? Make them both the same and i am sure your problem goes away.
Hope this helps
I want to make a php ajax post.(post value without refresh the page) here is my code. It can return the value and show in <div id="msg"></div>, But I also want to use this value.
In #benhowdle89 's help, I made $name= "<div id='msg'></div>". but when I use echo $name, in the source code, I can see <div id='msg'></div>(html tag), this is not a pure value, so I tried to use strip_tags, but the value lost. it seems the left the ajax pointed div tag, the value also gone. Still waiting for help...
index.php
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<script language="javascript">
function saveUserInfo() {
var msg = document.getElementById("msg");
var f = document.user_info;
var userName = f.user_name.value;
var url = "value.php";
var postStr = "user_name="+ userName;
var ajax = false;
if(window.XMLHttpRequest) {
ajax = new XMLHttpRequest();
if (ajax.overrideMimeType) {
ajax.overrideMimeType("text/xml");
}
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
try {
ajax = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {
try {
ajax = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {
}
}
}
if (!ajax) {
window.alert("wrong");
return false;
}
ajax.open("POST", url, true);
ajax.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
ajax.send(postStr);
ajax.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (ajax.readyState == 4 && ajax.status == 200) {
var myPhpVariable = ajax.responseText;
msg.innerHTML = myPhpVariable;
// myPhpVariable is now a variable which you can use
alert( myPhpVariable );
}
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<?php
echo $name="<div id='msg'></div>";
$name1=strip_tags($name);
$name2 = explode("|",$name1);
$namea=$name2[0];
$nameb=$name2[1];
?>
<form name="user_info" id="user_info" method="post">
<input name="user_name" type="hidden" value="abc|def" /><br />
<input type="button" value="abc|def" onClick="saveUserInfo()">
</form>
</body>
value.php
<?php
echo $_POST["user_name"];
?>
This is what I want. post value from index.php, then get the value by self without refresh the page. one botton with two values, I want explode them and finally get $namea and $nameb. I want use them in other php part.
You can put the ajax response into a javascript variable, then you can manipulate it from there:
var myPhpVariable = ajax.responseText;
msg.innerHTML = myPhpVariable;
alert( myPhpVariable );
Here is a working javascript example (full code):
function saveUserInfo() {
var msg = document.getElementById("msg");
var f = document.user_info;
var userName = f.user_name.value;
var url = "value.php";
var postStr = "user_name="+ userName;
var ajax = false;
if(window.XMLHttpRequest) {
ajax = new XMLHttpRequest();
if (ajax.overrideMimeType) {
ajax.overrideMimeType("text/xml");
}
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
try {
ajax = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {
try {
ajax = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {
}
}
}
if (!ajax) {
window.alert("wrong");
return false;
}
ajax.open("POST", url, true);
ajax.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
ajax.send(postStr);
ajax.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (ajax.readyState == 4 && ajax.status == 200) {
var myPhpVariable = ajax.responseText;
msg.innerHTML = myPhpVariable;
// myPhpVariable is now a variable which you can use
alert( myPhpVariable );
}
}
}
The PHP file would look like:
$postVar = $_POST["user_name"];
$postVarArr = explode('|', $postVar);
// will show abc
//echo $postVarArr['0'];
// will show def
echo $postVarArr['1'];
by including $name= "<div id='msg'></div>" and calling echo $name, you're just telling the program to store "" in the $name variable and then print what is stored in that variable. That's why you're getting the unwanted output.
not sure if you're having problems posting the value or showing it in the value, but you need to echo the variable where the userName is stored, may need to send that from the ajax to the php and set it to $name.
