nodejs .map() on loaded content - php

I have the following sample code (i am completely new to nodejs) , the code is as follow :
var http = require('http');
var fetchurl = 'http://localhost/sampledata.php';
http.get(fetchurl, function(res) {
var body = '';
res.on('data', function(chunk) {
body += chunk;
});
res.on('end', function() {
var Response = body;
Response.map(function(ent,i){console.log(ent.name);});
console.log("Got response: ", Response.toString());
});
}).on('error', function(e) {
console.log("Got error: ", e);
});
The above code loads some data from sampledata.php file which is as follow:
[{ name : 'david' , age : '25' } , { name : 'Henry' , age : '22' },{ name : 'Tom' , age : '15' },{ name : 'salena' , age : '35' }];
The problem is that when i run the top code , i get the error :
Type Error: Object (name: 'david', age:'25') has no method `map`
But the console log displays the data well, also if i use the same data without loading it from URL, it works perfectly fine.
Whats wrong here?

You need to convert the body to JSON first.
I normally have a function like the following to catch any errors:
function tryParseJson(str) {
try {
return JSON.parse(str);
} catch (ex) {
return null;
}
}
and then change your line to this:
var Response = tryParseJson(body);

Select2 load data from database - CodeIgniter

I try to load database data in my Select2 input. (Im working on CI)
Here's my code from the controller : transforms array in echo json
class Ajax extends CI_Controller {
public function __construct(){
parent::__construct();
$this->load->model('client');
}
public function returnClientsAjax(){
echo json_encode($this->client->getClients());
}
}
Model : returning an array of results
function getClients(){
return $this->db->query("SELECT idclient AS id, CONCAT(societe,' [', nom,']') as text FROM du_client WHERE (societe != '' AND nom != '') AND evo2012 >=2 AND type_client != 'Particulier' AND statut_client = 'Demandeur' AND idclient = 6141;")->result_array();
}
My Select2 :
$("#sel_clients").select2({
placeholder: "Search for an Item",
ajax: {
dataType: "json",
url: "http://commexpert.dev.local/ajax/returnclientsajax",
results: function (data) {
return {results: data};
}
}
});
The input still empty so, don't know what to do.
Thnaks :D
I think something is missing on your data results method. Here is my code from working ajax select2 component:
results: function (data) {
var results = [];
var id1 = data.id;
var name = data.text;
$.each(data.data, function(index, item){
results.push({
id: item[id1],
text: item[name].trim()+' : '+ item[id1]
});
});
return {results: results};
}
also, I'm having somewhat diff data call also:
data: function (term) {
try {
mirko = $(this).closest('[rendered]').find( "input[fparamname$=" + $(this).attr('flookupfiltref') + "]" ).val();
if (mirko.indexOf(' : ') >=0 ) { // pocetna vrijednost
mirko = mirko.split(' : ')[1].trim();
}
} catch(e){
mirko = '';
}
return {
sp_name: $(this).attr('objectname'),
fl_name: $(this).attr('fparamname'),
node_id: $(this).attr('node_id'),
bound: mirko,
q: term,
};
},
I'm having somekind of manipulation before sending or returning q to server,, but I hope that can help you for your service :)

Can't send post to PHP script from nodejs and receive echo

I got the following code from here
I've tried this code with variable data being equal to 'test=yes' or with data being equal to {test:'yes'}
Here is the php script
if(isset($_POST['test'])){
error_log("inside");
echo "and I'd also like to return this";
};
And here is the nodejs piece of code:
function postToPHP(data, path){
var httpreq = require('http');
var querystring = require("querystring");
var data = querystring.stringify(data);
var options = {
host : 'localhost',
path : 'www' + path, //path is well defined in the actual code
method : 'POST',
headers : {
'Content-Type' : 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded',
'Content-Length' : data.length
}
};
var buffer = "";
var reqPost = httpreq.request(options, function(res) {
res.on('data', function(d) {
buffer = buffer+data;
});
res.on('end', function() {
return buffer;
});
});
reqPost.write(data);
reqPost.end();
}
And the call of postToPhp
//treat message?
var message = "test=yes";
//OR
var message = "{test:'yes'}";
var buffer = postToPHP(message,"path");
console.log("buffer from PHP",buffer);
buffer is undefined
Nothing is shown in the error log and I assume something is not working with the code that I can't figure so I hope someone can help me figure this one out.

Display JSON Data in HTML using Laravel 4

Please help me with my problem in displaying JSON data into my view..
my script is:
$('#supplierId').change(function(){
$.get("{{ url('api/dropdown')}}",
{ option: $(this).val() },
function(data) {
var firstnameID = $('#firstnameID');
$.each(data, function(index, element) {
firstnameID.val(element.first_name);
});
});
});
and my JSON reply is:
{"id":7,"first_name":"John","last_name":"Doe"}
the thing is when i tried to:
alert(element.first_name);
it says UNDEFINED, but when I:
alert(element);
it gives me the value of the last name which is Doe.. my question is how can I then access the other values like the ID and the first name..
EDITED:
this is my route:
Route::get('api/dropdown', function(){
$input = Input::get('option');
$supllier = Supplier::find($input);
returnResponse::json($supllier->select(array('id','first_name','last_name'))
->find($input));
});
Please help me with this one, This is my first time using JSON so im a bit confuse on how this works.
Best Regards
-Melvn
Why are you using each? This should work:
$('#supplierId').change(function(){
$.get("{{ url('api/dropdown')}}",
{ option: $(this).val() },
function(data) {
var firstnameID = $('#firstnameID');
firstnameID.val(data.first_name);
});
});
Ok, give this a try..
Explicitly state that what you're expecting back from the server is JSON using the dataType option in get().
$('#supplierId').change(function()
{
$.get("{{ url('api/dropdown')}}",
{ option: $(this).val() },
function(data)
{
var firstnameID = $('#firstnameID');
$.each(data, function(index, element)
{
firstnameID.val(element.first_name);
});
},
'json' // <<< this is the dataType
);
});
Now you should be able to access the data using the dot syntax:
console.log("last_name: " + element.last_name);
console.log("first_name: " + element.first_name);
console.log("id: " + element.id);
I would add another few lines, just to check that you're getting back what you expect to see:
console.log("NEW ELEMENT"); // << indicator in the console for your reference
console.log(element); // << the whole "element"

PHP + jQuery - undefined index: , but it still posts successfully?

When inserting a record to a database, the server returns an 'undefined index: category', error, but still posts the successfully.
$('#button').click(function(){
var newvendor = $('#input_vendor').val();
newplantcode = $('#input_plantcode').val();
newcategory = $('#input_category').val();
$.post("php/addSite.php",
{vendor: newvendor,
plant_code: newplantcode,
category: newcategory}, // <--- Error on this line, for some reason...
function(result){
console.log("server returned : " + result);
[ RELOAD THE PAGE ]
}
You having missing quote in almost all your code:
$('#button').click(function(){
var newvendor = $('#input_vendor').val();
var newplantcode = $('#input_plantcode').val();
var newcategory = $('#input_category').val();
$.post("php/addSite.php",
{vendor: newvendor,
plant_code: newplantcode,
category: newcategory}, // <--- Error on this line, for some reason...
function(result){
console.log("server returned : " + result);
[ RELOAD THE PAGE ]
}
//closing the post function
)
//closing the click event
});
Now try that again

Backbone.js model.destroy() not sending DELETE request

I've been trying for days to get this working and I just cannot figure out why when I have my view to destroy a model which belongs to a collection (which properly has a url attribute for the beginning fetch of models' data), only fires the destroy 'event' which is bubbled up to the collection for easy binding by my list view. But it does not ever send an actual DELETE request or any request to the server at all. Everywhere I look, I see everyone using either the collection's url attr, or urlRoot if the model is not connected to a collection. I've even tested before the actual this.model.destroy() to check the model < console.log(this.model.url());
I have not overwritten the destroy nor sync methods for backbone. Also each model does have an id attribute which is populated via the collection's fetch (from database records).
The destroy takes place in the list item view, and the collection's "destroy" event is bound in the list view. All that works well (the event handling), but the problem, again, is there's no request to the server.
I was hoping that backbone.js would do it automatically. That was what the documentation implies, as well as the numerous examples everywhere.
Much thanks to anyone who can give some useful input.
FYI: I'm developing on wampserver PHP 5.3.4.

});
P.S... Again, there is code that is referenced from elsewhere. But please note: the collection does have a url attribute set. And it does work for the initial fetch as well as when there's a change event fired for saving changes made to the models. But the destroy event in the list-item view, while it does trigger the "destroy" event successfully, it doesn't send the 'DELETE' HTTP request.
Do your models have an ID? If not, the HTTP request won't be sent. –

Thanks so much! Nikoshr's little comment was exactly what I needed. I spent the last 5 hours messing with this. I just had to add an id to the defaults in my model.
