the problem occurs when I try to pass a string (upload_date) variable to ajax, I'm not sure if I'm passing the string correctly, this code works fine if only integers/digits are passed into the code. What I'm I doing improperly here? please help.
You'll have to add quotes around string variables. otherwise your generated javascript will look like variable names rather than string literals.
Like so:

Trying to use AJAX to submit form data to a PHP file. Everything in the code seems to work except for a call to the PHP file.
I setup a Java Alert() on the PHP file and it never alerts.
I am sure it is an issue with the AJAX code but I don't know it well enough to figure out what is going wrong.

I am implementing tags feature in my project.
In my demo tags i found they are passing names in a javascript function for the autocomple.
This is a function in my demo project,

You could echo the variable onto the page using PHP's json_encode. This function will convert a PHP array or object into a JSON object, which JavaScript can work with:

But a better way would be to request these values via Ajax. Say you have a PHP script named values.php:

echo json_encode($query);
Then, in JavaScript (on the page where you want to use the sampleTags variable), you can use jQuery's .ajax function to make an easy Ajax request:

I know we cannot get javascript variables to PHP as both are different (one server side and other client). But then how can I achieve this in my scenario?

you can put the viewContent inside #mainWrap using javascript.
just make sure the DOM is loaded wrapping your js code with $(document).ready()
and add:

I tried to add this to my code but I could not get it to work.
I am getting everything from a table with the following php:

Sorry if I'm doing this wrong. Pretty comfortable in php and jquery, but ajax sort of confuses me and I haven't found any tutorials that really clicked.
I know I can echo these vars out, and that will return the contents of load.php into my div.. but that seems clunky, and I doubt that's the way people actually do it..

Anyway, the "echoing page" echos its content with the three tildes stuck in there. Then I parse the return on the tildes and write different places.
