file_write failing in codeigniter - php

I have a piece of code written in codeigniter that reads a csv file and is supposed to write to a JSON file which i can read from later. The problem is that if I set a path for the file, the code fails but it works if i don't save a filepath.
Here is my code
$csvfile = array('csvfile' => $this->upload->data($upload_field_name));
$csvdata = $this->csvreader->parse_file($csvfile['csvfile']['full_path']);
$data['jsondata'] = json_encode($csvdata);
$path = '../uploads/'.$current_user_name.'.json';
if ( ! write_file( $path, $data['jsondata'],'w+' ) )
{
echo "File writing failed";
echo $path;
}
else
{
$this->load->view('dashboard');
}
I have looked for possible solutions but couldn't find any.

PHP SSH move file to another directory [duplicate]

I am uploading files to a server using php and while the move_uploaded_file function returns no errors, the file is not in the destination folder. As you can see I am using the exact path from root, and the files being uploaded are lower than the max size.
$target = "/data/array1/users/ultimate/public_html/Uploads/2010/";
//Write the info to the bioHold xml file.
$xml = new DOMDocument();
$xml->load('bioHold.xml');
$xml->formatOutput = true;
$root = $xml->firstChild;
$player = $xml->createElement("player");
$image = $xml->createElement("image");
$image->setAttribute("loc", $target.basename($_FILES['image']['name']));
$player->appendChild($image);
$name = $xml->createElement("name", $_POST['name']);
$player->appendChild($name);
$number = $xml->createElement("number", $_POST['number']);
$player->appendChild($number);
$ghettoYear = $xml->createElement("ghettoYear", $_POST['ghetto']);
$player->appendChild($ghettoYear);
$schoolYear = $xml->createElement("schoolYear", $_POST['school']);
$player->appendChild($schoolYear);
$bio = $xml->createElement("bio", $_POST['bio']);
$player->appendChild($bio);
$root->appendChild($player);
$xml->save("bioHold.xml");
//Save the image to the server.
$target = $target.basename($_FILES['image']['name']);
if(is_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name']))
echo 'It is a file <br />';
if(!(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $target))) {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
}
else {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
echo $target;
}
Any help is appreciated.

Most like this is a permissions issue. I'm going to assume you don't have any kind of direct shell access to check this stuff directly, so here's how to do it from within the script:
Check if the $target directory exists:
$target = '/data/etc....';
if (!is_dir($target)) {
die("Directory $target is not a directory");
}
Check if it's writeable:
if (!is_writable($target)) {
die("Directory $target is not writeable");
}
Check if the full target filename exists/is writable - maybe it exists but can't be overwritten:
$target = $target . basename($_FILES['image']['name']);
if (!is_writeable($target)) {
die("File $target isn't writeable");
}
Beyond that:
if(!(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $target))) {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
}
Echoing out the error parameter here is of no use, it refers purely to the upload process. If the file was uploaded correctly, but could not be moved, this will still only echo out a 0 (e.g. the UPLOAD_ERR_OK constant). The proper way of checking for errors goes something like this:
if ($_FILES['images']['error'] === UPLOAD_ERR_OK) {
// file was properly uploaded
if (!is_uploaded_File(...)) {
die("Something done goofed - not uploaded file");
}
if (!move_uploaded_file(...)) {
echo "Couldn't move file, possible diagnostic information:"
print_r(error_get_last());
die();
}
} else {
die("Upload failed with error {$_FILES['images']['error']}");
}
You need to make sure that whoever is hosting your pages has the settings configured to allow you to upload and move files. Most will disable these functions as it's a sercurity risk.
Just email them and ask whether they are enabled.
Hope this helps.
your calls to is_uploaded_file and move_uploaded_file vary. for is_uploaded_file you are checking the 'name' and for move_uploaded_file you are passing in 'tmp_name'. try changing your call to move_uploaded_file to use 'name'

How to save file in subfolder using php

I have a script with a mysql query which saves a file called invoice.xml every day automatically by running a cron job. In case no data is found a no_orders.txt is saved.
I would like this file not be saved to the same folder as the script.php file is in but to a subfolder called invoices.
The renaming of the old invoice.xml is done with the following code
// rename old file
$nowshort = date("Y-m-d");
if(file_exists('invoice.xml')) {
rename('invoice.xml','invoice_'.$nowshort.'.xml');
}
The saving is done with the following code:
if($xml1 !='') {
$File = "invoice.xml";
$Handle = fopen($File, 'w');
fwrite($Handle, $xml1);
print "Data Written - ".$nowMysql;
fclose($Handle);
#print $xml;
die();
} else {
print "No new orders - ".$nowMysql;
$File = "no_orders_".$nowshort.".txt";
$Handle = fopen($File, 'w');
fclose($Handle);
die();
}
Could I please get assistance how to save this file to a subfolder. Also the renaming of the existing file would need to be within the subfolder then. I have already tried with possibilities like ../invoice/invoice.xml but unfortunately without any success.
Thank you
Just give the path of file 'invoice.xml' to $File.
Otherwise create some $Dir object which will point to Folder named 'invoice', then use accordingly
Use __DIR__ magic constant to retrieve your script.php directory, then you can append /invoice/invoice.xml .
Example if path to your script php something like this:
/var/www/path/to/script.php
$currentDir = __DIR__; //this wil return /var/www/path/to
$invoicePath = $currentDir.'/invoice/invoice.xml';

Unzipping to a variable

I need to process the contents of a zipped file, but I can't change the permissions on the server where my program will be hosted.
This means that I can't download the zip file to the server, so I need to read the contents of the file into a variable without writing it to the file system.
Can I grab the string contents of such variable and get the unzipped contents into a new variable?
So far, I've looked into using the zip php extension, and the pclzip library, but both need to use actual files.
This is what I want to do in pseudo code:
$contentsOfMyZipFile = ZipFileToString();
$myUnzippedContents = libUnzip($contentsOfMyZipFile);
Any ideas?
Look at this example.
<?php
$open = zip_open($file);
if (is_numeric($open)) {
echo "Zip Open Error #: $open";
} else {
while($zip = zip_read($open)) {
zip_entry_open($zip);
$text = zip_entry_read($zip , zip_entry_filesize($zip));
zip_entry_close($zip);
}
print_r($text);
?>
I use this in my project:
function unzip_file( $data ) {
//save in tmp zip data
$zipname = "/tmp/file_xxx.zip";
$handle = fopen($zipname, "w");
fwrite($handle, $data);
fclose($handle);
//then open and read it.
$open = zip_open($zipname);
if (is_numeric($open)) {
echo "Zip Open Error #: $open";
} else {
while ($zip = zip_read($open)) {
zip_entry_open($zip);
$text = zip_entry_read($zip, zip_entry_filesize($zip));
zip_entry_close($zip);
}
}
/*delete tmp file and return variable with data(in this case plaintext)*/
unlink($zipname);
return $text;
}
I hope it helps you.

php - extract files from folder in a zip

I have a zip file containing one folder, that contains more folders and files, like this:
myfile.zip
-firstlevel
--folder1
--folder2
--folder3
--file1
--file2
Now, I want to extract this file using PHPs ZipArchive, but without the "firstlevel" folder. At the moment, the results look like this:
destination/firstlevel/folder1
destination/firstlevel/folder2
...
The result I'd like to have would look like this:
destination/folder1
destination/folder2
...
I've tried extractTo, which produces the first mentioned result, and copy(), as suggested here, but this doesn't seem to work at all.
My current code is here:
if($zip->open('myfile.zip') === true) {
$firstlevel = $zip->getNameIndex(0);
for($i = 0; $i < $zip->numFiles; $i++) {
$entry = $zip->getNameIndex($i);
$pos = strpos($entry, $firstlevel);
if ($pos !== false) {
$file = substr($entry, strlen($firstlevel));
if(strlen($file) > 0){
$files[] = $file;
}
}
}
//attempt 1 (extractTo):
//$zip->extractTo('./test', $files);
//attempt 2 (copy):
foreach($files as $filename){
copy('zip://'.$firstlevel.'/'.$filename, 'test/'.$filename);
}
}
How can I achieve the result I'm aiming for?
Take a look at my Quick Unzipper script. I wrote this for personal use a while back when uploading large zip files to a server. It was a backup, and 1,000s of files take forever with FTP so using a zip file was faster. I use Git and everything, but there wasn't another option for me. I place this php file in the directory I want the files to go, and put the zip file in the same directory. For my script, they all have to operate in the same directory. It was an easy way to secure it for my needs, as everything I needed was in the same dir.
Quick Unzipper: https://github.com/incomepitbull/QuickUnzipper/blob/master/unzip.php
I linked the file because I am not showcasing the repo, just the code that makes the unzip tick. With modern versions of PHP, there should't be anything that isn't included on your setup. So you shouldn't need to do any server config changes to use this.
Here is the PHP Doc for the ZipArchive class it uses: http://php.net/manual/en/class.ziparchive.php
There isn't any included way to do what you want, which is a shame. So I would unzip the file to a temp directory, then use another function to copy the contents to where you want. So when using ZipArchive, you will need to return the first item to get the folder name if it is unknown. If the folder is known, ie: the same pesky folder name every time, then you could hard code the name.
I have made it return the first item from the index. So if you ALWAYS have a zip with 1 folder inside it, and everything in that folder, this would work. However, if you have a zip file without everything consolidated inside 1 folder, it would fail. The code I have added will take care of your question. You will need to add further logic to handle alternate cases.
Also, You will still be left with the old directory from when we extract it to the temp directory for "processing". So I included code to delete it too.
NOTE: The code uses a lot of if's to show the processing steps, and print a message for testing purposes. You would need to modify it to your needs.
<?php
public function copyDirectoryContents($source, $destination, $create=false)
{
if ( ! is_dir($source) ) {
return false;
}
if ( ! is_dir($destination) && $create === true ) {
#mkdir($destination);
}
if ( is_dir($destination) ) {
$files = array_diff(scandir($source), array('.','..'));
foreach ($files as $file)
{
if ( is_dir($file) ) {
copyDirectoryContents("$source/$file", "$destination/$file");
} else {
#copy("$source/$file", "$destination/$file");
}
}
return true;
}
return false;
}
public function removeDirectory($directory, $options=array())
{
if(!isset($options['traverseSymlinks']))
$options['traverseSymlinks']=false;
$files = array_diff(scandir($directory), array('.','..'));
foreach ($files as $file)
{
if (is_dir("$directory/$file"))
{
if(!$options['traverseSymlinks'] && is_link(rtrim($file,DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR))) {
unlink("$directory/$file");
} else {
removeDirectory("$directory/$file",$options);
}
} else {
unlink("$directory/$file");
}
}
return rmdir($directory);
}
$file = dirname(__FILE__) . '/file.zip'; // full path to zip file needing extracted
$temp = dirname(__FILE__) . '/zip-temp'; // full path to temp dir to process extractions
$path = dirname(__FILE__) . '/extracted'; // full path to final destination to put the files (not the folder)
$firstDir = null; // holds the name of the first directory
$zip = new ZipArchive;
$res = $zip->open($file);
if ($res === TRUE) {
$firstDir = $zip->getNameIndex(0);
$zip->extractTo($temp);
$zip->close();
$status = "<strong>Success:</strong> '$file' extracted to '$temp'.";
} else {
$status = "<strong>Error:</strong> Could not extract '$file'.";
}
echo $status . '<br />';
if ( empty($firstDir) ) {
echo 'Error: first directory was empty!';
} else {
$firstDir = realpath($temp . '/' . $firstDir);
echo "First Directory: $firstDir <br />";
if ( is_dir($firstDir) ) {
if ( copyDirectoryContents($firstDir, $path) ) {
echo 'Directory contents copied!<br />';
if ( removeDirectory($directory) ) {
echo 'Temp directory deleted!<br />';
echo 'Done!<br />';
} else {
echo 'Error deleting temp directory!<br />';
}
} else {
echo 'Error copying directory contents!<br />';
}

Download database table column fields as CSV in Zend Framwework

I want to download database table column fields as CSV in Zend Framework. Are there any ZF libraries for this?
There are other questions here on SO that addresses this specific subject, but none of them provide me enough detail. Could someone please describe in detail how to do it?
I'll assume you have a standard DbTable model for your table. Get the table information using the info() method
//the following is pseudocode and not meant to be copied directly, intended to guide
public function indexAction() {
$model = new Application_Model_DbTable_MyTable();
//This returns an array of table info
$info = $model->info();
//prepare the data so each line can be saved
$data = $info['name'] . ',' . $info['primary'];
//then write each line to the database, I usually use a function from
// a utility class or a protected function
//I would normally build an array of the data I want saved and then
//iterate over the array saving as I go.
$save = $this->_writeToFile($filename, $data);
}
//the following function is not pseudocode
protected function _writeToFile($filename, $content) {
// Let's make sure the file exists and is writable first.
if (is_writable($filename)) {
// In our example we're opening $filename in append mode.
// The file pointer is at the bottom of the file hence
// that's where $somecontent will go when we fwrite() it.
if (!$handle = fopen($filename, 'a')) {
echo "Cannot open file ($filename)";
exit;
}
// Write $somecontent to our opened file.
if (fwrite($handle, $content) === FALSE) {
echo "Cannot write to file ($filename)";
exit;
}
echo "Success, wrote ($content) to file ($filename) <br />";
//close file
fclose($handle);
} else {
echo "The file $filename is not writable";
}
}
Hope this points you in the right direction.
