I am parsing a value from a HTML element in cakephp and is being sent via Ajax to the following url;
getquestion.json?data[Job][qs1]=2
Now I am trying to access data[Job][qs1] in the controller but can't figure it out.
The returned array is;
Array ( [data] => Array ( [Job] => Array ( [qs1] => 2 ) ) )
$_GET['data[Job][qs1]']; is not working which is rather odd.
You are nesting data in your $_GET parameters. To access nested array, just try with:
$_GET['data']['Job']['qs1']

I am receiving POST data from a form that is an array along with a few other fields. I need to take the array data only and pass it along in a post request of my own to a backend server as json.
The $_POST data looks like this:
Array (
[smsgte_submit] => Y
[alias] => Array (
[1] => Array (
[name] => mywife
[number] => 6135552001
[ssid] => 1 )
[2] => Array (
[name] => daughter
[number] => 6135553001
[ssid] => )
)
)
I only want to capture the alias entries and encode them in json.
I was successful in encoding the entire $_POST array into json with:
$data['jsonpost'] = json_encode($_POST);
which encoded the array as expected, however, I only want the alias array, so I tried the following:
$data['jsonpost'] = json_encode($_POST['alias']);
That, however doesn't work, it returns null to the server. Then I tried:
$data['jsonpost'] = json_encode(array_filter($_POST, 'alias'));
But that returned null.
Maybe I need to redesign my form, but in the end, I want a json array that looks like this:
{
"alias": {
"name":"mywife",
"number":"6135552001",
"ssid":"1"
},
"alias": {
"name":"daughter",
"number":"6135553001",
"ssid":"2"
}
}
It turns out that the following syntax should be correct:
$data['jsonpost'] = json_encode($_POST['alias']);
However, in order to get it to work, I had to split it as follows:
$jsonpost = json_encode($_POST['alias']);
$data['jsonpost'] = jsonpost;
I switched back and forth between the two options a few times, but only the second one works, at least with PHP 7.3.5.
I had to make a particularly complex SOAP request in PHP and seem to have received back objects within objects. I need to get a particular value for example "session_token". I can var_dump the request and even turn it in to an array but I can't access individual elements. Please help!
Objects:
stdClass Object ( [login_response] => stdClass Object
( [response_context] => stdClass Object
( [session_token] => b1043dcb82625701188ffff03572
[response_status] => OK [response_message] => Login successful
))))
Converted array:
Array ( [0] =>
Array ( [response_context] =>
Array ( [session_token] => b1043dcb82625701188ffff03572
[response_status] => OK [response_message] => Login successful
) ) )
Once it's an array, it's JUST an array, e.g.
$obj->foo->bar->baz
will simply be
$arr['foo']['bar']['baz']
So in your case
$arr[0]['response_context']['response_status'] -> "OK"
If you leave it as an object, and there is not reason not to.
echo $obj->login_response->response_context->session_token;
echo $obj->login_response->response_context->response_status;
echo $obj->login_response->response_context->response_message;
will output
b1043dcb82625701188ffff03572
OK
Login successful
Normally to access any key of an object, need to call it like this
echo $obj->key;
But, as this is a multi-level object, to access the element, you have to code like bellow.
echo $obj->login_response->response_context->session_token;
And the result will be b1043dcb82625701188ffff03572
As same, normally to access any key of an array, need to call it like this
echo $arr['key'];
But, as this is a multi-level array, to access the element, you have to code like bellow.
echo $arr[0]['response_context']['session_token'];
And the Output is b1043dcb82625701188ffff03572
Here,
0 is the key of $arr array.
response_context is the key of 0.
session_token is the key of response_context.
You can use this service, array visualizer, this will help you target and extract only what you need. Just past the print_r output in it. That's it.
Give it a try
I am very basic new php learner, i having difficulty to get nested array value, here is my json result:

I can access the Title, but can't access the Link urls:
echo $title = $json->{'title'};
echo $link = $json->{'link'}->{'22'}->{'0'};
How can access the specific link array 22
This echo $title = $json->{'title'}; works because you are accessing an object's property and using -> is the correct way.
In this case $json->{'link'}->{'22'}->{'0'} you are trying to access an array item instead an object's property, because $json->{'link'}->{'22'} is an array and not an object. In this case, you should access it in this way: $json->{'link'}->{'22'}[0]. In order to avoid this kind of issues and, when you decode your JSON to a PHP object, you can pass true as a second parameter to the function json_decode and that will convert the whole object into an array. That way, you don't need to worry about accessing elements as object's attributes, you can access them, always, as array items. So, in this case, it would be: $json["link"]["22"][0].
You're confusing the way you access objects and arrays.
Getting the title is correct via $json->title, but the link should be $json->link->{'22'}[0] - a mixture of objects and arrays.
FYI the {'name'} notation is the same as name - only required when you are including variables in your object name e.g. {$someVar . 'name'}
I suppose you use json_decode() function. Do you know that you can get an array instead of StdClass Object? So, you can use.
<?php
$php_array = json_decode($json_string, true);
I am using jQuery to convert form data to serialized form using:
var data = $('#frm').serialize();
In php I get this:
fiscalyear_id=4&category=Category+A&isgraph=on&Title=a&Value=a&Title=b&Value=b&category=Category+B&Title=c&Value=c&Title=d&Value=d&category=Category+C&Title=e&Value=e&Title=f&Value=f&data;=&csrf_check=9c288285b379701b27c3836091c00b04
And when I do:
parse_str($_POST['data'], $data);
pretty_print($data);
I get:
Array
(
[fiscalyear_id] => 4
[category] => Category C
[isgraph] => on
[Title] => f
[Value] => f
[data;] =>
[csrf_check] => 9c288285b379701b27c3836091c00b04
)
As can be seen, not all paramters are coming in array above. Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong ? Thanks for the help
parse_str parses the string in variable and you are getting it into array.
but duplicate array keys are not possible,
hence you are not getting all the values because they have the same key!
I have seen many posts on here about converting a multi dimensional array into a string but not the other way around so I have a question to ask. I have got the following string of data which is retrieved from a JQuery array via a post:
["enquiry#gardengamesltd.co.uk, sales#gardengamesltd.co.uk","http://www.gardengamesltd.co.uk/acatalog/contactus.html"],["enquiry#gardengames.com","http://www.gardengames.com/contact/"],["info#gardengamesandleisure.com","http://www.gardengamesandleisure.com/ContactUs.aspx"],["playtime#kentgardengameshire.com","http://www.kentgardengameshire.com/contact-us.html"],["sales#gardengamesuk.com","http://www.gardengamesuk.com/contact.php"],["team#gardenknightgames.com","http://www.gardenknightgames.com/contact/"],["ajax-loader#2x.gif","http://www.just-garden-games.co.uk/"]
What I am wanting to do is convert it into an array which looks like so:
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[Email] => enquiry#gardengamesltd.co.uk, sales#gardengamesltd.co.uk
[FB] => http://www.gardengamesltd.co.uk/acatalog/contactus.html
)
[1] => Array
(
[Email] => enquiry#gardengames.com
[FB] => http://www.gardengames.com/contact/
)
[2] => Array
(
[Email] => info#aaeventhire.com
[FB] => http://www.aaeventhire.com/pricing/garden-games
)
)
I realize I could use $array = explode('","', $harvest_data); however this is only going to give me a single level array and ideally I am wanting to keep email, fb inside an inner array.
Has anyone got any ideas on how I can go about doing this?
Thanks.
As it is, your string is not valid JSON. Wrapping it in a pair of []'s would work in this case so if the input always has this form, this would work:
$json_string = '[' . $your_string . ']';
$your_array = json_decode($json_string);
However, it would be best to make sure that your front-end / javascript posts valid JSON to begin with.
Working example.
