I just wanna ask something.
I am using cuccfree.com for my free webhosting and Vista Panel for my CPanel.
in my CPANEL i have a folder named districtfive.cu.cc and it contains all of my files.
When Im trying to browse my link it always shows a list of Folders and Files of Index of.
My question is that how can I prevent to show all of that folders and instead show my website? I mean if i browse districtfive.cu.cc it will automatically open my Admin.php.
Does it have to do with:
Index Manager(My CPanel doesnt have that)
.htaccess(I dont know how to use it but i try but still noting happens.)
any suggestions or answer is highly appreciated. TY
Create an .htaccess file. Inside of this:
DirectoryIndex Admin.php index.php index.html
Seems like you're not using the default index.php. Also, any reason you're not using the default index.php nomenclature most people have come to expect?
Rename admin.php as index.php. It will automatically open your site with url 'districtfive.cu.cc'.

I have a static html website that I need to convert to Wordpress. I was able to successfully load wordpress on my hosting and configured a theme. However, the front end still displays the original html page. I need the whole website to be converted to wordpress, but I can't figure out where to add the htaccess and index.php files as I read from a blog. Someone help out.
Thanks
Sam
1) you're kind of asking for the whole of how the internet operates. I'm not saying that to be confrontational, just know that you'll likely be downvoted for such an impossible question.
2) more to the point, your server is looking for a directory index. In general, most servers look for index.html, index.htm, index.php, and then others, but in that order. If it encounters index.html in your directory then it stops and says that is the file to load.
3) you can get around this by changing the name of your file.
"index.html" -> "index_OLD.html" (or any name not index.html)
4) you can also change the way your server processes the index order using the DirectoryIndex directive in your HTAccess file. Ask your hosting provider about how to do this and if it's supported (although, I don't recommend you do this, it's just an available option).
5) your wordpress install should be in the root directory. That is to say, your .htaccess and index.php files should live in the same directory that your current index.html file lives in. Once the html file has a different name, the server will locate the php file and use it to server up as the directory index.
6) good luck friend!
I have uploaded my .php files into cPanel. lets say my main domain is abcde.com. Then I created a subdomain called gisWeb.
Now in file manager under /home/abcdec I can see a directory called gisWeb.abcde.com. I uploaded an index.html file into this directory and tried to run it by browsing http://gisWeb.abcde.com/index.htmlbut I'm getting site cant reach page. `
We can’t reach this page.
Try this
Make sure that you’ve got the right web address:`
How can I access my files. What should be the url?
Please help me.
Thanks
Problem could be one of these.
1. Sub-Domain you created may not have propagated.
2. You may need to put the files in public_html folder inside gisWeb.abcde.com
I recently suscribed to a 1and1 hosting contract. I've been having issues to display my website, so I tried to put some very basic pages online in order to tell wether the issue was in my file or on the server side.
The homepage is named index.php and has a link to another page (page1.html) that is supposed to display a "Hello World".`
Clique
The homepage is online but there are some issues.
The homepage only works when it's called index.php and doesn't work when it's called index.html.
When I click on "Clique", the url changes to mywebsite.com/page1.html but the content is still "Clique" while it should be "Hello World".Also, the CSS file isn't read.
I've read a lot of threads dealing with similar issues and apparently it might be a problem with the .htaccess file. I don't have a .htaccess in the folder where my files are and I don't know much about how it works. Also, the CHMOD is 705 for both files.
Maybe try the 1and1 support for this issue.
I don't think this is the right place to ask.
Do you have root access, or just FTP.
If there is no .htpasswd, try uploading one.
A generator which will help you is just one google away.
UPDATE: Real links below to illustrate my issue.
Stick with me on this, because it is a valid question.
In the old days I could have danhoover.org which was a wordpress site and I could have danhoover.org/new which was another wordpress site and both would load fine. I could even point danhoover.net to the danhoover/new directory and the page would load just fine no matter how you got there. You could use danhoover.org/new or danhoover.net and it would load fine. All the permalinks would work. No problem.
Now, however, there is some sort of voodo going on. If a wordpress site is in the danhoover.org/new folder and configured to be "danhoover.net", navigating to the folder as danhoover.org/new will just get you a 404 error.
In addition, going to danhoover.org/new/index.php will get you a 404 error.
There is some sort of voodoo going on that makes you use the url defined in the configuration for the site to work properly. What is it? Is there any way to manually update the permalink structure so it loads properly with either domain?
I guess I'm just confused as to what in the world wordpress is doing that is different than any other php site that prevents it from loading.
UPDATED LINKS:
I have a folder /a which has campscoreboard.net pointed to it.
I have a folder /a/c which has www.c.campscoreboard.net pointed to it.
Wordpress links:
You can go to www.campscoreboard.net/c and the homepage loads
You can go to www.c.campscoreboard.net and the homepage loads and all
the links work.
But if you go to www.campscoreboard.net/c and click on a link like the
Hello World article, you're redirected back to the root for some
reason.
Vanilla PHP Links
You can go to www.campscoreboard.net/c/test.php and it loads fine.
You can go to www.c.campscoreboard.net/test.php and it loads fine.
Only the wordpress urls are redirecting back to the root when loaded via www.campscoreboard.net/c
I've not tried to install WordPress inside WordPress before, but ...
In the wp-config.php file of the relevant WordPress installation, you can set the correct URL and HOME directory manually using:
define( 'WP_HOME', 'http://danhoover.org/new/' );
define( 'WP_SITEURL', 'http://danhoover.org/new/' );
I usually add these after define('WP_DEBUG', false);
Hopefully this helps.
This shouldn't be related to the home configuration as all that would do is forward you to danhoover.org, not give you a 404.
This is likely a server permissions issue where your server is blocking access to the folders. This can be set either on the servers main config file (e.g. httpd.conf) or in a .htaccess file which can be placed in any folder to which one wishes to change its (/subfolders') permissions.
You can read some more here.
A quick way to help you diagnose this, create a static html file and place it in danhoover.org/new call it index.html and place some text in the file then load danhoover.org/new in your browser and see if the text you've written in the file appears, if not then you know it's a server/permissions issue, not a Wordpress one.
I'm trying to find out the name of the default page of a domain for a site i'm working on.
It has been set so that the name of the default page isn't shown, so it just shows the domain name in the address bar and ends after .com/
Is there any way to view what the name of this file is?
Just a shot in the dark: if your web server is Apache and there is a .htaccess file in the root folder look into it for a line starting with DirectoryIndex. If it's there the first filename would be the default.
No there isn't. Quite probably it's index.php
I not quite sure I understood your question, I just hope I can help:
The server hides the /filename when it is the default one, index.html or index.php or default.html or something of that kind.
You say you have two sites on the server.
I don´t know you service provider but with cPanel in some accounts types (not dedicated) inside your public_html folder you should see a directory called "your_second_sites_name.com" and there you will have and index.html that would be your second´s site public_html.
I hope this helps you out if no, please add a comment and I´ll gladly edit my answer! good luck!
