I am trying to install Yii2 on WAMP using composer.
c:\Users\username>php composer.phar create-project yiisoft/yii2-app-basic basic 2.0.0
I am getting the following error when I run the command which is given above.

Can someone help solving this error? But, it is created a folder named "basic".
I have copied this folder to D:\wamp\www and when I access localhost/basic/web/ from browser, I am getting the following error.
ReflectionException
Class yii\debug\Module does not exist
I am following the instructions to install yii2 from http://www.yiiframework.com/download/
Please assist me to resolve these issues.

First windows does not have a curl processor like unix so you need to use the other option for installing Composer
php -r "eval('?>'.file_get_contents('https://getcomposer.org/installer'));"
For this to work you need the php.exe processor to be on your path, so you have 2 options here. Either add the c:\wamp\bin\php\phpx.y.z folder to your PATH or my prefered option write yourself a little .cmd file which will do it for you like this
addphp.cmd
PATH=%PATH%;c:\wamp\bin\php\phpx.y.z
Put this file in a folder already registered on your path so you can run it from anywhere in a command window.
Now you will have to edit the \wamp\bin\php\phpx.y.z\php.ini file. This is similiar to the one used by php code run through the Apache web server but is only used by the PHP CLI (Command Line Interpreter)
Make sure the extension php_curl is uncommented or the above line wont work i.e. remove the ; comment symbol
extension=php_curl.dll
So now run a command window, cd into the folder that you want composer installed into and run the command above, then follow the rest of the install instructions on Install instructions

This error happens because of invalid json on plugin you or application requested (npm or bower).
The link here suggests you to run:
composer global update.
This will update composer cache. Hope it helps.

I am trying to install Symfony on CentOS Linux wih PHP 5.6 and cPanel installed.
When I run composer require symfony/assetic-bundle , once adding bundle to the AppKernelphp, symfony (app/console too) stops working and keeps logging this error:

After checking the vendor directory, turns out that composer has downloaded a single compressed file with a random name, I could extract it with unzip. but problem still exists!
This environment works properly on windows and I could easily update symfony and its components using composer.
Any help? Anyone with the same experience ?
Well, I eventually figured out the problem!
I enabled suhosin extension which prevents the composer and other similar command prompt php scripts from a proper execution.
As a temporary solution I copied php.ini and disabled unnecessary extensions and put it next to my project and call composer this way
$php -c ../composer-php.ini ~/composer ......
I'll create a script to make the life easier
I didn't find any resource which describes coexistence of composer and suhosin extension, so I'm not sure if this is the ultimate solution but the root cause is identified.
If anybody makes workaround this subject I'd be more than happy to know about it.
I am Using my own Machine Kali Linux 2.0 Debian x64 . Now, i have Installed Laravel in my directory structure like
/opt/lampp/htdocs/learning-larvel/
Inside the Learning-laravel folder i have Installed my Laravel files, and also i installed composer. So when i go to http://127.0.0.1/learning-laravel/public . I see a See a White Screen and in Between it is written "Laravel 5", which means the Laravel GUI Setup is fine.
Now, to create a new file for Laravel, when i open my Terminal and type
laravel new xyz
then it gives me a error which says bash: laravel: command not found
Now, how can i fix the error.. I have researched about it by setting PATH to bashrc. But i am not getting it fixed right. Additionally when i type in my command composer -version then also it says bash: composer: command not found but i have Installed composer on the folder learning-laravel itself.
I could also see files like composer.phar there in /opt/lampp/htdocs/learning-larvel/
Any help would be extremely thankful.

if you wanna do composer -- or laravel -- in command line, you wanna install them globally.

I encountered the same problem. Apparently, the composer exists in path ~/.config/composer/vendor/bin when running as super user. Therefore, replacing the paths which were described above by this, and it should work. Hope it helps.
I'm stuck on a very basic problem:
I'm trying to use Laravel, which I installed on my windows 7 with composer.
When I try to access my website locally with Wamp, I get the error:

Everywhere I can read that all I have to do is run composer install or update.
The problem is that I did run both and nothing has to be updated.
The files are where they are needed so I dont understand what could be the problem.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be my problem?

Composer is a tool for managing and installing dependencies.
There should exist a file named composer.phar in the directory C:\wamp\www\sitedirectory\public\protected\. There you should execute the command composer.phar install (on the command line).
Then, the directory vendor containing the autoload.php etc. should be generated.
If the composer.phar does not exist (but at least a file named composer.json), follow the steps explained here to download composer.

Problem: I'm wanting to explore laravel 5, and failing miserably at installing it. I'm using this guide: http://laravel.com/docs/5.0 and need someone to help me understand the instructions.
Background and What I've Tried
I'm running Mac OSX 10.10.2 (Yosemite) and MAMP.
So far, I've downloaded Composer to my home folder using terminal. There is just a composer.phar file sitting there.
When I run:
composer global require "laravel/installer=~1.1"
I get the message:
Changed current directory to /Users/MYUSERNAME/.composer
./composer.json has been updated
Loading composer repositories with package information
Updating dependencies (including require-dev)
Nothing to install or update
Generating autoload files
I assume that is ok because when I run the following in terminal, I get the composer logo and a list of options
~ MYUSERNAME$ composer
I'm not 100% sure what the following means, from the Laravel Docs:
"Make sure to place the ~/.composer/vendor/bin directory in your PATH so the
laravel executable can be located by your system."
Because I can't figure it out, the following steps throw errors, such as:
-bash: laravel: command not found
I've been going through a few forums, and it's suggested that I need to update my PHP.ini file - this seems more related to Composer install, and not specifically Laravel. Because composer is working, this seems to be a dead end.
Ideally, I want to install Laravel 5 to the directory
HomeFolder/sites/test
because Composer.phar is in my home folder, I think the command should be:
php composer laravel new sites/test
or just
composer laravel new sites/test
As mentioned, it just (correctly) throws errors.
Question:
If anyone can help solve my total user error, by explaining what "Make sure to place the ~/.composer/vendor/bin directory in your PATH so the laravel executable can be located by your system." means to a n00b, that'd be really appreciated.

Laravel is a PHP framework (makes writing PHP applications easy)
Composer is a PHP package and dependency manager. (makes installing and updating third party code libraries easy)
When you run
$ composer global require "laravel/installer=~1.1"
You're using composer to install the laravel/installer=~1.1 package into composer's "global" project folder (usually ~/.composer). This is what installed the command line program named laravel.
The command line program named laravel is a shell script for installing the PHP framework (Also named Laravel).
Your "Unix Path" is a list of folders where a command line script will search for an executable. Usually is has folders like /usr/bin, /usr/local/bin, etc. This is why when you run ls, you're actually running /usr/bin/ls -- the shell knows to check each folder in the path for a location. You can view your current path by typing
$ echo $PATH
So, the problem is composer installed the laravel command line program to a folder that's not in your unix path. You need to add this folder to your unix path. You can do this by running the following (assuming you're using bash, which is OS X's default shell)
$ PATH=$PATH:~/.composer/vendor/bin
If you run that, you should be able to run the laravel command line program and continue your installation.
Most people add this to their .bash_profile or .bashrc files. The Unix Stack Exchange has a lot of good information if you're interested in learning how to do this.
You can add the directory to the PATH variable by editing /etc/paths.
Here's a tutorial on how to do that.
Just add a line with:
~/.composer/vendor/bin
Then the laravel new command should work fine
If everything fails you can still use the composer create-project command to make a new laravel instance:
composer create-project laravel/laravel sites/test --prefer-dist
I added C:\Users\Leon\AppData\Roaming\Composer\vendor\bin instead of ~/.composer/vendor/bin to the Path variable.

just moved over my laravel site to my live server and straight away faced with this error.
The complete error is:

The line 17 is:

Folder structure is:

Any help where this is going wrong? And how to fix? Pulling my hair out trying all sorts of paths.

I strongly believe that a corrupted cache was the cause, I cannot be 100% sure but it seem that it is likely the culprit.
So, if anyone comes across a similar problem, I would suggest the following steps:
Delete the vendor folder
Delete composer.lock
Run the command composer clearcache (or clear-cache)
Run composer install
I hope this can help somebody.
As you can see from the error, PHP is looking for
public_html/local/bootstrap/../vendor/autoload.php`
which is
public_html/local/vendor/autoload.php
That folder does not exist. I think the folder structure you posted is wrong.
Anyway, try this:
require('../vendor/autoload.php');
I've had the same problem and it was that Composer was not installed yet in the server, so the directories structure it creates on your project does not exist neither.
First you have to install composer on your server, follow the instructions for your system given at the composer project webpage, https://getcomposer.org/.
Next you have to go in a terminal or cmd to the base folder of your project.
There you can use the commandline composer init, wich will guide you to create your composer.json file into your project.
Once you have created your composer.json file, you have to execute the commandline composer install.
This commandline will create all the dependencies you have written on your composer.json, and also will create the folder structure so the code you require would find the proper path.
At last, you have to reference the redirection to the folder vendor depending on the current folder structure location of your php file.
If you look for information, http://www.phptherightway.com/ was really helpfull.
Just run the following command, it will automatically install necessary dependencies:
composer install
I had the same problem when I have had migrated a drupal website to new server...
To solve the problem I just used the composer command:
First cd into website directory, EX:
cd /var/www/your_website
Run composer to install drupal 8 dependencies that it's need in the website directory;
composer install
If you use the sudo command, make sure the .../vendor directory has the right permission to be accessed by the user who in the /var/wwwdirectory;
sudo composer install
This basically will solve the .../public_html/autoload.php on line 14 issue!
