Spent last days trying, as a newcomer to Symfony find a good solution on integrating a image upload field in an existing Entity in Sonata Admin. I've been Googling and following guides available but unfortunately I cannot figure it out.
Setup as specified in headline
Symfony2
SonataAdmin
VichUploaderBundle
Im currently stuck with the following error:
"Catchable Fatal Error: Argument 1 passed to Beautify\BeautiesBundle\Entity\Beauty::setImageFile() must be an instance of Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\File\UploadedFile, instance of Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\File\File given, called in /Users/gmf/symfony/vendor/symfony/symfony/src/Symfony/Component/PropertyAccess/PropertyAccessor.php on line 438 and defined in /Users/gmf/symfony/src/Beautify/BeautiesBundle/Entity/Beauty.php line 75 "
The image upload field renders correctly and I receive the error after submitting.
This is line 75:
/**
* If manually uploading a file (i.e. not using Symfony Form) ensure an instance
* of 'UploadedFile' is injected into this setter to trigger the update. If this
* bundle's configuration parameter 'inject_on_load' is set to 'true' this setter
* must be able to accept an instance of 'File' as the bundle will inject one here
* during Doctrine hydration.
*
* #param File|\Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\File\UploadedFile
*/
public function setImageFile(UploadedFile $image = null)
{
$this->imageFile = $image;
if ($image) {
// It is required that at least one field changes if you are using doctrine
// otherwise the event listeners won't be called and the file is lost
$this->updatedAt = new \DateTime('now');
}
}

Any help is very appreciated and will make me very happy
You missed the use statement for the File class: use Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\File\File;
Add the use statement above and then change the method signature to this:
public function setImageFile(File $image = null)

I tried to replace this:
->add('imageFile', VichImageType::class, [
'required' => false,
'allow_delete' => true,
'download_label' => '...',
'download_uri' => true,
'image_uri' => true,
'imagine_pattern' => '...',
])
By this :
->add('imageFile', CollectionType::class, ['entry_type' => VichImageType::class])
I have no more errors, but my file input isn't displayed and I have a "0" next to it.
I followed this documentation but it did not help me much :
https://github.com/dustin10/VichUploaderBundle/blob/master/Resources/doc/form/vich_image_type.md
https://github.com/dustin10/VichUploaderBundle/blob/master/Resources/doc/usage.md
Well i never used EasyAdmin myself but I think you need an admin definition for the Photo entity:
easy_admin:
entities:
Photo:
# ...
form:
fields:
- { property: 'imageFile', type: 'vich_image' }
I think you don't need the PhotoType formType for the EasyAdmin interface.
If you follow this tutorial: https://symfony.com/doc/master/bundles/EasyAdminBundle/integration/vichuploaderbundle.html#uploading-the-images-in-the-edit-and-new-views
You will see there is no FormType in the example.
I'm actually creating an api. I'm using vichuploaderBundler to import file and to put them in a specific directory. Since i use my form to send a POST request to create a resource, my ressource get created but the files aren't saved anymore. Here is my current code.
postController
/**
* #Rest\View(statusCode=Response::HTTP_CREATED)
* #Rest\Post("/posts")
*/
public function postPostsAction(Request $request)
{
$post = new Post();
$form = $this->createForm(PostType::class, $post);
$form->submit($request->request->all()); // Validation des données
if ($form->isValid()) {
$post->setUpdatedAt(new \DateTime());
$em = $this->get('doctrine.orm.entity_manager');
$em->persist($post);
$em->flush();
return $post;
} else {
return $form;
}
}
PostType
class PostType extends AbstractType
{
/**
* {#inheritdoc}
*/
public function buildForm(FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options)
{
$builder->add('title');
$builder->add('description');
$builder->add('imageName');
$builder->add('imageFile', FileType::class);
}
/**
* {#inheritdoc}
*/
public function configureOptions(OptionsResolver $resolver)
{
$resolver->setDefaults(array(
'data_class' => 'AppBundle\Entity\Post',
//An API must be stateless, Cross-Site Request Forgery must be disable
'csrf_protection' => false,
));
}

EDIT :
Here is my vichuploader configuration, in config.yml
#vich uploader Configuration
vich_uploader:
db_driver: orm

upload_destination: '%kernel.root_dir%/../web/images/posts'
namer: vich_uploader.namer_uniqid
inject_on_load: false
delete_on_update: true
delete_on_remove: true
Before using my form i was uploading on that way :
public function postPostsAction(Request $request)
{
$post = new Post();
$post->setTitle($request->get('title'))
->setDescription($request->get('description'))
->setImageName($request->get('image_name'))
->setImageFile($request->files->get('imageFile'))
// It is required that at least one field changes if you are using doctrine
// otherwise the event listeners won't be called and the file is lost
->setUpdatedAt(new \DateTime());
// On fait appel à doctrine pour seter un id lors de la création en base
$em = $this->get('doctrine.orm.entity_manager');
$em->persist($post);
$em->flush();
return $post;
}
Thanks for helping !

Well I'm trying to create a form which can handle multiple file uploads. So far so good. I have two tables image and product which has ManyToOne relationship. I'm using CollecitonType field for the images so I can dynamically add/remove fields on the fly. The problem is that I get this exception on form rendering
Neither the property "imageFile" nor one of the methods "getImageFile()", "imageFile()", "isImageFile()", "hasImageFile()", "__get()" exist and have public access in class "AppBundle\Entity\Product".
What I'm doing wrong?

First :
In your Product class:
Your variable is named private $image, it should be private $images; with the 'S' for plurial.
Second :
In your product form builder, you ask for a field named ImageFile, but it doesn't exist in Product class (but exists on Image class), it should be images.
I have a simple Symfony2 application with two entities: Municipality and Poi. There is a relation "One-To-Many" between Municipality and Pois (i.e: zero or more pois placed in one municipality), so the Entity files are like this:
Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Municipality.php
<?php
// Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Municipality.php
namespace Poc\PocBundle\Entity;
use Doctrine\ORM\Mapping as ORM;
/**
* Municipality
*
* #ORM\Table()
* #ORM\Entity(repositoryClass="Poc\PocBundle\Entity\MunicipalityRepository")
*/
class Municipality
{
/**
* #ORM\OneToMany(targetEntity="Poi", mappedBy="municipality")
*/
protected $pois;
public function __construct()
{
$this->pois = new \Doctrine\Common\Collections\ArrayCollection();
}
/**
* #var integer
*
* #ORM\Column(name="id", type="integer")
* #ORM\Id
* #ORM\GeneratedValue(strategy="AUTO")
*/
private $id;
/**
* #var string
*
* #ORM\Column(name="name", type="string", length=255)
*/
private $name;
/**
* Get id
*
* #return integer
*/
public function getId()
{
return $this->id;
}
/**
* Set name
*
* #param string $name
* #return Municipality
*/
public function setName($name)
{
$this->name = $name;
return $this;
}
/**
* Get name
*
* #return string
*/
public function getName()
{
return $this->name;
}
/**
* Add pois
*
* #param \Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $pois
* #return Municipality
*/
public function addPois(\Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $pois)
{
$this->pois[] = $pois;
return $this;
}
/**
* Remove pois
*
* #param \Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $pois
*/
public function removePois(\Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $pois)
{
$this->pois->removeElement($pois);
}
/**
* Get pois
*
* #return \Doctrine\Common\Collections\Collection
*/
public function getPois()
{
return $this->pois;
}
public function __toString()
{
return $this->name;
}
}
Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi.php
<?php
// Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi.php
namespace Poc\PocBundle\Entity;
use Doctrine\ORM\Mapping as ORM;
/**
* Poi
*
* #ORM\Table()
* #ORM\Entity(repositoryClass="Poc\PocBundle\Entity\PoiRepository")
*/
class Poi
{
/**
* #ORM\ManyToOne(targetEntity="Municipality", inversedBy="pois")
* #ORM\JoinColumn(name="municipality_id", referencedColumnName="id")
*/
protected $municipality;
/**
* #var integer
*
* #ORM\Column(name="id", type="integer")
* #ORM\Id
* #ORM\GeneratedValue(strategy="AUTO")
*/
private $id;
/**
* #var string
*
* #ORM\Column(name="name", type="string", length=255)
*/
private $name;
/**
* Get id
*
* #return integer
*/
public function getId()
{
return $this->id;
}
/**
* Set name
*
* #param string $name
* #return Poi
*/
public function setName($name)
{
$this->name = $name;
return $this;
}
/**
* Get name
*
* #return string
*/
public function getName()
{
return $this->name;
}
/**
* Set municipality
*
* #param \Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Municipality $municipality
* #return Poi
*/
public function setMunicipality(\Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Municipality $municipality = null)
{
$this->municipality = $municipality;
return $this;
}
/**
* Get municipality
*
* #return \Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Municipality
*/
public function getMunicipality()
{
return $this->municipality;
}
public function __toString()
{
return $this->name;
}
}
At this point, I want to manage the One-To-Many relation between the municipality and their pois from the Municipality add/edit form in Sonata Admin.
I have followed the instructions explained in http://sonata-project.org/bundles/doctrine-orm-admin/master/doc/reference/form_field_definition.html#advanced-usage-one-to-many , so the MunicipalityAdmin class file is:
Poc/PocBundle/Admin/MunicipalityAdmin.php
<?php
namespace Poc\PocBundle\Admin;
use Sonata\AdminBundle\Admin\Admin;
use Sonata\AdminBundle\Form\FormMapper;
use Sonata\AdminBundle\Datagrid\DatagridMapper;
use Sonata\AdminBundle\Datagrid\ListMapper;
use Sonata\AdminBundle\Show\ShowMapper;
class MunicipalityAdmin extends Admin
{
protected function configureListFields(ListMapper $listMapper)
{
$listMapper
->addIdentifier('name')
->add('_action', 'actions', array(
'actions' => array(
'show' => array(),
'edit' => array(),
)
))
;
}
protected function configureFormFields(FormMapper $formMapper)
{
$formMapper
->add('name')
->add('pois', 'sonata_type_collection', array(), array(
'edit' => 'inline',
'inline' => 'table',
'sortable' => 'position'
))
;
}
}
The form I am trying to get is an add/edit form where I can define de name of the municipality and add/remove associated pois from the Poi entity, but what I actually get is a form where I can define the name of the municipality, and manage the Poi entity in a kind of sub-form.
This screenshoot describe the result --> http://i.imgur.com/nM1ywwh.png
I mean, in this way, I can add new Pois and relations with any municipality (i.e: Los Angeles), but what I'm trying to get is a list of al pois that are related to this municipality and the posibility to:
Add new relations (i.e: associate an orphan Poi like Statue of Liberty to this municipality (New York)).
Remove existing relations (i.e: remove an incorrect relation like "Walt Disney Concert Hall" in New York)
I've seen the way to manage this in the reverse way, selecting the Municipality related to each Poi in the Poi add/edit form (Many-to-one), but I wonder if is there any way to manage this relations in the other entity.
Can I do this in SonataAdmin? Any clue?
UPDATE: Solved the UI and adding pois, but not deleting
I've got the way to show widget that I am looking for, by definining the form in this way:
protected function configureFormFields(FormMapper $formMapper)
{
$formMapper
->add('name')
->add('pois', null, array(), array(
'edit' => 'inline',
'inline' => 'table',
'sortable' => 'position'
))
;
}
What I did is to change 'sonata_type_collection' for null value. Now I get a form like this screenshot -->
... that as just the behavior I want.
Initially, the additions in this widget (i.e: add new pois to a municipality), didn't persist. Thanks to the comment of Radomir Wojtera, I realized that there was methods not implemented in my Municipality Entity class (setPois, addPoi and removePoi).
I added this methods ...
public function setPois($pois)
{
if (count($pois) > 0) {
foreach ($pois as $i) {
$this->addPoi($i);
}
}
return $this;
}
public function addPoi(\Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $poi)
{
$poi->setMunicipality($this);
$this->pois->add($poi);
}
public function removePoi(\Poc\PocBundle\Entity\Poi $poi)
{
$this->pois->removeElement($poi);
}
... and now I'm able to grab new Pois for a Municipality, but when I remove some Pois, they did't disassociate. so I can add relations, but not remove.
Finally I can resolve the second issue (removing Poi from a Municipality didn't work) by setting orphanRemoval=true in Entity configuration
class Municipality
{
/**
* #ORM\OneToMany(targetEntity="Poi", mappedBy="municipality", cascade={"persist"}, orphanRemoval=true))
*/
protected $pois;
...
The first issue is solved as commented in the question update.
