I have managed to send a mail to myself using this code.
$mail = new PHPMailer;
//$mail->SMTPDebug = 1;
//Email server info
$mail->isSMTP();
$mail->Host = 'smtp-mail.outlook.com';
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'tls';
$mail->Port = 587;
//User authentication info
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Username = '******#hotmail.com';
$mail->Password = '********';
//Email info
$mail->From = 'noreply#ledii.net';
$mail->FromName = 'LediiNet';
$mail->addAddress($mail->Username);
$mail->Subject = 'LediiNet Feedback';
$mail->Body = 'Here are some thoughts...';
Is it possible to make it so that the mail will show up with my website name as sender insteath of my name and email?
I would preferrably want it to seem like the mail is sent from noreply#ledii.net and with the sender name of LediiNet.
I feel like I probably have to actually create that email somehow and connect to my host servers email server info?
I figured out how to do it, but I had to change to using the mail() function and modify my local files for it to work locally.

I am working to send email via the PHP Mailer class. I tried many times but I'm getting spam email every time. I want to use it for whatuser. I am using the PHP Mailer class and get spam emails. Please help, my code is the following:
require_once("PHPMailer-final/class.phpmailer.php");
$admin_email="support#example.com";
$admin_email_caption="example.com";
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->Host = "mail.example.com"; // SMTP servers
$mail->Port = 26;
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // turn on SMTP authentication
$mail->Mailer = "smtp";
$mail->Username = "support#example.com"; // SMTP username
$mail->Password = "123456789"; // SMTP password
$subject=$subject_mem;
$cs_email=$to_mem;
$body_admin = $body_mem;
$headers ="From:".$admin_email_caption."<".$admin_email.">\nReply-To:".$admin_email."\nContent-Type:text/html";
$mail->From = $admin_email;
$mail->FromName = $admin_email_caption;
$mail->AddReplyTo($admin_email);
$mail->IsHTML(true);
$mail->Subject = $subject;
$mail->Body = $body_admin;
$mail->AltBody = "This is alt body.";
$mail->AddAddress($cs_email);
if(!$mail->Send())
#mail($cs_email,$subject,$body_admin,$headers) or die("not send");
//echo $cs_email."<br>";
$mail->ClearAddresses();
$mail->ClearAttachments();
$mail=NULL;
You should check your SMTP configurations.
Maybe SMTP configuration is not correct. For this reason your mail() function is working. And mail() function have some missing headers. Example charset. Missing or invalid header is another reason for getting mail in spam
Here is the details about PHPMailer Configurations
Uncomment the line //$mail->SMTPDebug = 3; for Debugging your SMTP configurations
I'm using Yii phpmailer extension to send mail using gmail but it showing SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. instead of sending mail. My code what I used
Yii::import('application.extensions.phpmailer.JPhpMailer');
$mail = new JPhpMailer;
$mail->IsSMTP();
//$mail->Host = 'smpt.163.com';
$mail->Host = 'smtp.googlemail.com:465';
//$mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com:587';
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl";
$mail->Username = $email;
$mail->Password = $pass;
$mail->SetFrom($email, SiteConfig::SITE_TITLE);
$mail->Subject = 'PHPMailer Test Subject via smtp, basic with authentication';
$mail->AltBody = 'To view the message, please use an HTML compatible email viewer!';
$mail->MsgHTML('<h1>JUST A TEST!</h1>');
$mail->AddAddress($email, 'My Name');
$mail->Send();
I followed this link.
How can I solve this problem and send mail using gmail? I’d appreciate any light you can shed on this!!
Try adding the following line:
$mail->Port = 465;
I am unsure if adding :port works for the Host field as you've done - I can confirm that setting the Port field manually does work, as I have a large system whose code looks very similar to yours which is working as expected.
We also use $mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com' but I am almost certain that the smtp.googlemail.com domain should also work.
You can debug and get error report
for 1 error and message
for 2 message only
$mail->SMTPDebug = 2; // debugging: 1 = errors and messages, 2 = messages only
Be sure to set the following attributes:
$mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com";
$mail->Port = 587;
$mail->SMTPSecure = "tls";
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Username = "your username";
$mail->Password = "your password";
It should work with those attributes set.
Hope it helps.
i want to send email after user checkout from cart
my controller:
include('js/phpmailer/PHPMailerAutoload.php');
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$mail->Host = "ssl://smtp.gmail.com"; // SMTP server Gmail
$mail->Mailer = "smtp";
$mail->Port = 465;
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // turn on SMTP authentication
$mail->SMTPDebug = 1;
$mail->Username = "my gmail"; //
$mail->Password = "my pass"; // SMTP password
$webmaster_email = "my gmail"; //Reply to this email ID
$email = "recipient gmail"; // Recipients email ID
$name = "John"; // Recipient's name
$mail->From = $webmaster_email;
$mail->FromName = "Aryono King";
$mail->AddAddress($email,$name);
$mail->AddReplyTo($webmaster_email,"Goeboek I-Mut");
$mail->WordWrap = 50; // set word wrap
$mail->IsHTML(true); // send as HTML
$mail->Subject = "Subject Test";
$mail->Body = "Test Content"; //HTML Body
if(!$mail->Send()) {echo "Mailer Error: " . $mail->ErrorInfo;}
else {echo "<strong>Email Send</strong>";}
but it show error like this
2015-05-20 21:46:43 SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: (0) 2015-05-20 21:46:43 SMTP connect() failed. Mailer Error: SMTP connect() failed.
what's the problem? i can't solve it, i search everywhere and i can't fint the answer, please someone help me
Take a look at the example here.
While personally, I do it like this:
//Create a new PHPMailer instance
$mail = new PHPMailer;
//Tell PHPMailer to use SMTP
$mail->isSMTP();
//Enable SMTP debugging
// 0 = off (for production use)
// 1 = client messages
// 2 = client and server messages
$mail->SMTPDebug = 0;
//Ask for HTML-friendly debug output
$mail->Debugoutput = 'html';
$mail->isSMTP(); // Set mailer to use SMTP
$mail->Host = 'ssl://smtp.googlemail.com'; // Specify main and backup SMTP servers
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // Enable SMTP authentication
$mail->Username = $email_mail; // SMTP username
$mail->Password = $email_pass; // SMTP password
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'ssl'; // Enable TLS encryption, `ssl` also accepted
$mail->Port = 465; // TCP port to connect to
Try to check against yours, like for example: $mail->Host = 'ssl://smtp.googlemail.com';, which supposed to be don't have ssl://.
Two things you need to check before using phpmailer for gmail
need to check whether SMTP port and email + password is correct or not
You need to authenticate from your gmail account for sending email from unsecured sources, means: when first you send an email, google will send you an email asking your permission to allow to forward email from your id, here your required to click allow
One more thing, Port 587 is working perfectly for me, instead of 465
Hi,
there's more...I have seen that antivirus or firewall installed in your computer may block sending emails via localhost as it may considered as spam attacks
use this code...
include 'PHPMailerAutoload.php';
function send_mail($mail_to,$mail_to_fname,$mail_to_lname,$subject,$message)
{ $mail = new PHPMailer;
$mail->isSMTP();
$mail->SMTPDebug = 0;
$mail->Debugoutput = 'html';
$mail->Host = 'mail.gmail.com';
$mail->Port = 587;
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'tls';
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Username = " YOUR GMAIL ";
$mail->Password = " YOUR GMAIL PASSWORD";
$mail->setFrom(' YOUR GMAIL ', ' YOUR NAME ');
$mail->addAddress($mail_to,$mail_to_fname . " " . $mail_to_lname);
$mail->Subject = $subject;
$mail->msgHTML($message);
$mail->AltBody = ' ';
if (!$mail->send()){echo "FALSE" . $mail->ErrorInfo;}
else{echo "TRUE";}
}
// How to user
// send_email(" email address where to send "," reciepient first name ","reciepient last name "," subject ", " message as html code ");
you need to do one more step for allowing gmail to send messages...!
(*) accept to allow google to send emails from unsecured apps, that link will be sent to your gmail, after you send first email
I am trying to setup PHPMailer for a customer. He has his own mail server located at a certain IP address. When asked to give me the information to send email through the system, he gave the following:
Host: xx.xxx.x.x
Port: 25
Domain: mydomain.local
Username: myemail#mydomain.local
Password: <myemailpassword>
From: myemail#anotherdomain.xx
(Which he confirmed is being used for external email sending)
I tried to setup PHPMailer by setting the parameters to the exact namings above.
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->SMTPDebug = 1;
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl";
$mail->Host = "xx.xxx.x.x";
$mail->Port = 25;
$mail->Username = "myemail#mydomain.local";
$mail->Password = <myemailpassword>;
$mail->SetFrom('myemail#anotherdomain.xx', 'Webname');
$mail->[...]
I got the following error:
Failed to connect to server (0)
So I try to send an email through telnet to check if it's the customer's email server or the PHPMailer settings:
telnet xx.xxx.x.x 25
It goes through, I'm connected to the server.
helo mydomain.local
I'm getting 'Hello' as a reply. This leads me to believe it might be the PHPMailer settings that are wrong here.
I also try not using SMTP:
$mail->Host = "ssl://xx.xxx.x.x";
$mail->Port = 25;
$mail->Username = "myemail#mydomain.local";
$mail->Password = "password";
$mail->SetFrom('myemail#anotherdomain.xx', 'Webname');
$mail->[...]
Again no go. Am I going about this wrong? I'm only familiar with setting up PHPMailer to use Gmail before so I'm at a loss as to what could be the issue because I'm using a 'personal' email server.
Thanks Loadparts for your assistance.
I'm still not sure what the issue was but it seems it has resolved itself. It might have been from the email server side because coding wise, I didn't change anything. This is the final code I used.
$mail = new PHPMailer(true);
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Port = 25;
$mail->Host = "xx.xxx.x.x"; // SMTP server
$mail->Username = "myemail#mydomain.local";
$mail->Password = <myemailpassword>;
$mail->From = "myemail#anotherdomain.xx";
$mail->FromName = <Web_Name>;
$mail->AddAddress("email#domain.com");
$mail->Subject = <Subject>;
$mail->AltBody = <Alt_Body>
$mail->WordWrap = 80;
$body = "test message";
$mail->MsgHTML($body);
$mail->IsHTML(true);
$mail->Send();
I use a test function that I know works 100% to test the email servers when using PHPMailer.
I'm not sure why you are having your problem, but try to use the function I have ( I know it's messy but it does the trick). Just replace all the XXXX with your info and make sure you have both class.phpmailer.php and class.smtp.php in the same folder.
<?php
error_reporting(E_ALL);
$toemail = 'XXXX';
$toname = 'XXXX';
$subject = 'Testing Email Sending...';
$bodyhtml = '<H1>yeah</h1>';
$bodytext = 'heres Hoping it works';
$fromemail = 'XXXX';
$fromname = 'XXXX';
var_dump(sendemail($toemail,$toname,$subject,$bodyhtml,$bodytext,$fromemail,$fromname));
function sendemail($toemail,$toname,$subject,$bodyhtml,$bodytext,$fromemail,$fromname)
{
require_once("class.phpmailer.php");
$mail = new phpmailer();
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->From = $fromemail;
$mail->FromName = $fromname;
$mail->Host = "XXXX";
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // turn on SMTP authentication
$mail->Username = "XXXX"; // SMTP username
$mail->Password = "XXXX"; // SMTP password
$mail->Port="25";
$mail->SMTPDebug=true;
if(strlen($bodyhtml)>0) {
$mail->Body = $bodyhtml;
$mail->IsHTML(true);
}
else if(strlen($bodytext)>0){
$mail->Body = $bodytext;
}
if(strlen($bodytext)>0 && strlen($bodyhtml)>0){
$mail->AltBody = $bodytext;
}
$mail->AddReplyto($fromemail,$fromname);
$mail->Subject = $subject;
// Check if multiple recipients
if(preg_match("/;/",$toemail))
{
$tmp_email=preg_split("/;/",$toemail);
$tmp_contact=preg_split("/;/",$toname);
$mail->AddAddress($tmp_email[0], $tmp_contact[0]);
// echo "<!-- multi email:".$tmp_email[0]." contact:".$tmp_contact[0]." -->\n";
for($j=1;$j<count($tmp_email);$j++)
{
if(preg_match("/\#/",$tmp_email[$j]))
{ $mail->AddCC($tmp_email[$j], $tmp_contact[$j]);
// echo "<!-- multi email cc:".$tmp_email[$j]." contact:".$tmp_contact[$j]." -->\n";
}
}
}
else{
$mail->AddAddress($toemail, $toname);
}
$error= false;
if($mail->Send()){
$error =true;
}
// Clear all addresses and attachments for next loop
$mail->ClearAddresses();
return $error;
}
If this doesn't work, my first try would be using port 80 - which usually isn't blocked, then you can work on getting SSL to work.
PS: because it's a local domain, you may want to consider adding the domain to your /etc/hosts just to be sure.
Best of Luck!
I manage to sent message to my gmail account using phpmailer library through local
host in my xampp but the message has 'root user' shown instead of the gmail account set to $mail->SetFrom how to remove this 'root user' and show the appropriate name.
<?php
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$mail->IsSMTP(); // telling the class to use SMTP
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Mailer = "smtp";
$mail->SMTPSecure = "tls";
$mail->Username = "georgediamei1234#gmail.com";
$mail->Password = "password";
$mail->Host = 'ssl://smtp.gmail.com'; // SMTP server
$mail->Port = 465;
$mail->FromName ='georgediamei1234#gmail.com';
$mail->AddAddress("nowtonkhurai#gmail.com");
$mail->Subject = "";
$mail->Body = "Hello, <b>Is photo attached</b>!\n\n This message uses HTML entities!";
$mail->addStringAttachment("$string","08DsAlg.pdf", "base64","application/pdf");
if($mail->send()) {
echo "Email sent";
} else {
echo 'Not send '.$mail->ErrorInfo;
}
?>
$mail->setFrom('from#example.com', 'Mailer');
I also got stumbled with that root problem. You have to set a mail id and a name in setFrom property. As the question was asked 2 years ago it might not be helpful to you but it might help others who get stuck with the same stuff.
use both function for name and email address like this :
$mail->From = "from#example.com";
$mail->FromName = "Mailer";
