Reading contents of CSV file not getting the last updated information - php

I update information on data.csv using:
function generateCsv($data, $delimiter = ',', $enclosure = '"') {
$dataPath = $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] .'/test-los-goya-2015/alfombra-roja/data.csv';
$handle = fopen($dataPath, 'r+');
#ftruncate($handle, 0);
foreach ($data as $line) {
fputcsv($handle, $line, $delimiter, $enclosure);
}
fclose($handle);
And then, when the user clicks on the Publish button, I do:
function publishCsv () {
$dataPath = $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] .'/test-los-goya-2015/alfombra-roja/data.csv';
$dataPublishedPath = $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] .'/test-los-goya-2015/alfombra-roja/data-published.csv';
copy($dataPath, $dataPublishedPath);
}
And then the information is visible right away on front. However, the updated information on data.csv is not visible on backoffice until about 10 minutes have passed.
We are using Level 3 CDN which holds strong caching, however, the information retrieval is always done to http://origin-...., like this piece of code I have when I read information from data.csv (backoffice) and data-published.csv (front):
if (!$getPublished) {
$dataPath = 'http://origin-lab.rtve.es/test-los-goya-2015/alfombra-roja/data.csv';
} else {
$dataPath = 'http://origin-lab.rtve.es/test-los-goya-2015/alfombra-roja/data-published.csv';
}
$aLines = file( $dataPath );
How is it possible that getting the information from the csv files, being exactly the same way, shows updated information on the front, but not on backoffice?
Thanks a lot

how to delete a single line in a txt file with php [duplicate]

This question already has answers here:
How to delete a line from the file with php?
(10 answers)
Closed last year.
i was wondering if it is posible to delete a single line in a txt file with php.
I am storing emailadresses in a flat txt file named databse-email.txt
I use this code for it:
<?php
if ($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == 'POST') {
$email = $_POST['email-subscribe'] . ',' . "\n";
$store = file_put_contents('database-email.txt', $email, FILE_APPEND | LOCK_EX);
if($store === false) {
die('There was an error writing to this file');
}
else {
echo "$email successfully added!";
}
}
?>
Form:
<form action="" method="POST">
<input name="email-subscribe" type="text" />
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Subscribe">
</form>
The content of the file looks like this:
janny#live.nl,
francis#live.nl,
harry#hotmail.com,
olga#live.nl,
annelore#mail.ru,
igor#gmx.de,
natasha#hotmail.com,
janny.verlinden#gmail.com,
All lines are , seperated
Lets say i want to delete only the emailadres: igor#gmx.de
How can i do that?
What i want to achieve is a unsubscribe form and delete a single line in the .txt file
You can use str_replace
$content = file_get_contents('database-email.txt');
$content = str_replace('igor#gmx.de,', '', $content);
file_put_contents('database-email.txt', $content);
Because of the way the filesystem works you can't do this in an intuitive way. You have to overwrite the file with all the lines except the one you want to delete, here's an example:
$emailToRemove = "igor#gmx.de";
$contents = file('database-email.txt'); //Read all lines
$contents = array_filter($contents, function ($email) use ($emailToRemove) {
return trim($email, " \n\r,") != $emailToRemove;
}); // Filter out the matching email
file_put_contents('database-email.txt', implode("\n", $contents)); // Write back
Here's a streaming alternative solution in the cases where the file does not fit in memory:
$emailToRemove = "igor#gmx.de";
$fh = fopen('database-email.txt', "r"); //Current file
$fout = fopen('database-email.txt.new', "w"); //New temporary file
while (($line = fgets($fh)) !== null) {
if (trim($line," \n\r,") != $emailToRemove) {
fwrite($fout, $line, strlen($line)); //Write to new file if needed
}
}
fclose($fh);
fclose($fout);
unlink('database-email.txt'); //Delete old file
rename('database-email.txt.new', 'database-email.txt'); //New file is old file
There is also a way to do this in-place to minimize extra disk needed but that is trickier.
You can do it programmatically which will just look over every line and if it not what you want to delete, it gets pushed to an array that will get written back to the file . Like below
$DELETE = "igor#gmx.de";
$data = file("database-email.txt");
$out = array();
foreach($data as $line) {
if(trim($line) != $DELETE) {
$out[] = $line;
}
}
$fp = fopen("database-email.txt", "w+");
flock($fp, LOCK_EX);
foreach($out as $line) {
fwrite($fp, $line);
}
flock($fp, LOCK_UN);
fclose($fp);
first read the file using fopen and fget , and make array to list the emails you want to remove , use in_array to check if value exists in array , and then after remove unwanted emails save the file using fwrite and you need to close the file after the read and the write operations using fclose
checkout this code
$data = "";
$emailsToRemove = ["igor#gmx.de" , "janny#live.nl"];
//open to read
$f = fopen('databse-email.txt','r');
while ($line = fgets($f)) {
$emailWithComma = $line . ",";
//check if email marked to remove
if(in_array($emailWithComma , $emailsToRemove))
continue;
$data = $data . $line;
}
fclose($f);
//open to write
$f = fopen('databse-email.txt','w');
fwrite($f, $data);
fclose($fh);
for delete special word and next delete blank line try this:
$file = "file_name.txt";
$search_for = "example_for_remove";
$file_data = file_get_contents($file);
$pattern = "/$search_for/mi";
$file_data_after_remove_word = preg_replace($pattern, '', $file_data);
$file_data_after_remove_blank_line = preg_replace("/(^[\r\n]*|[\r\n]+)[\s\t]*[\r\n]+/", "\n", $file_data_after_remove_word);
file_put_contents($file,$file_data_after_remove_blank_line);

simple php page session visit counter not working

I am having this strange issue and can't figure it out.
On some websites I have this script works perfect... same code, same server settings...
With php, there is a simple page view hit counter that stores locally in a txt file.
Then I echo out the value on the footer copyright area of my websites to give the client a quick statistic... its pretty cool how fast it grows.
Anyway.. i have a client corner grill ny . com (seo purposes I added spaces )
On that website.. its been working great for years.
Now another website and a bunch more.. for example... savianos . com
This breaks.. and the text value is blank.
This is the counter.php code
<?php
session_start();
$counter_name = "counter/hits.txt";
//Check if a text file exists. If not create one and initialize it to zero.
if (!file_exists($counter_name)) {
$f = fopen($counter_name, "w");
fwrite($f,"0");
fclose($f);
}
// Read the current value of our counter file
$f = fopen($counter_name,"r");
$counterVal = fread($f, filesize($counter_name));
fclose($f);
// Has visitor been counted in this session?
// If not, increase counter value by one
if(!isset($_SESSION['hasVisited'])){
$_SESSION['hasVisited']="yes";
$counterVal++;
$f = fopen($counter_name, "w");
fwrite($f, $counterVal);
fclose($f);
}
?>
Now, if I add a value in the txt file.. like 1040... and go to the website it starts to work... then after a week or so I check it .. its blank again.
Any ideas?
I am thinking that this may be happening because the website might get a TON of views during dinner time friday night.. and the simple script can't handle it so.. while its trying to write a added a number it just breaks and go to blank.. and never starts back up again.
The structure is this.
/counter/ folder has
counter.php and a hits.txt file
Every page of the website the very first thing is
<?php include ('counter/counter.php'); ?>
and in the footer of the website we have
<?php echo $counterVal; ?>
Your code looks perfect, but let's understand the situation. You have a file which can be accessed concurrently for many users, because page visit can be done by multiple users on same time. This does't seem right you have to lock the file manipulation for another user while someone is modifying it, right?. Please have a look
Visits counter without database with PHP
It is most likely because you have two concurrent scripts that tried to open the file at one and one of them fail. You have to use flock() when there are multiple instances of the script that could operate at the same time. Counter are some of the heaviest things if you going to use file reading and writing. I wrote this wrapper to easily implement file locking.
If you want to check out one of my counters that in operation try http://ozlu.org. That dynamic counter image was self-built. The fileReadAll will read the entire file in one shot. The file writer only has two modes, write or append. You can pass the fileWriter an array or a string and it will write it to the file. The function will not add any \n to format your text so you would have to add that. The default mode for the fileWriteAll is w if you do not set the third argument.
function fileWriteAll($file, $content, $mode = "w"){
$mode = $mode === "w" || $mode === "a"? $mode : "w";
$FILE = fopen($file, $mode);
while (!flock($FILE, LOCK_EX)) { usleep(1); }
if( is_array($content) ){
for ($i = 0; $i < count($content); $i++){
fwrite($FILE, $content[$i]);
}
} else {
fwrite($FILE, $content);
}
flock($FILE, LOCK_UN);
fclose($FILE);
}
function fileReadAll($file){
$FILE = fopen($file, 'r');
while (!flock($FILE, LOCK_SH)) { usleep(1); }
$content = fread($FILE, filesize($file));
flock($FILE, LOCK_UN);
fclose($FILE);
return $content;
}
Your modified code:
session_start();
$counterName = './views.txt';
if (!file_exists($counterName)) {
$file = fopen($counterName, 'w');
fwrite($file, '0');
fclose($file);
}
$file = fopen($counterName, 'r');
$value = fread($file, filesize($counterName));
fclose($file);
if (! isset($_SESSION['visited'])) {
$_SESSION['visited'] = 'yes';
$value++;
$file = fopen($counterName, 'w');
fwrite($file, $value);
fclose($file);
}
session_unset();
echo $value;

php program cannot change the values of text file

I'm making a unique visitors counter for my website and I went for many tutorials, until I found this easy code but the problem is that the program never adds new ips or counts new visits . The values of ip.txt and count.txt never change :(
Here is the whole code :
<?php
function hit_count() {
$ip_address = $_SERVER ['REMOTE_ADDR'];
$ip_file = file ('ip.txt');
foreach($ip_file as $ip) {
$ip_single = ($ip);
if ($ip_address==$ip_single){
$found = true;
break;
} else {
$found = false;
}
}
if ($found==true){
$filename = 'count.txt';
$handle = fopen ($filename, 'r');
$current = fread($handle, filesize($filename));
fclose($handle);
$current_inc = $current = 1;
$handle = fopen($filename, 'w');
fwrite($handle, $current_inc);
fclose($handle);
$handle = fopen('ip.txt', 'a');
fwrite($handle, $ip_address."\n");
fclose($handle);
}
}
?>
This code is full of mistakes. It will never work.
Mistake number #1:
$ip_file = file('ip.txt');
Each element on $ip_file ends with a newline symbol, so even if your IP is in the list it will never match $_SERVER ['REMOTE_ADDR']. file() must be run with the FILE_IGNORE_NEW_LINES flag.
Mistake number #2:
if ($found==true){
The counter will only increase and try to add the IP in the list if it was already found in the list. If the list is empty it will never do jack. Invert this logic!
Mistake number #3:
$current_inc = $current = 1;
It will never count beyond 1.
Besides that, you must make sure that the PHP script has permission to change those files. Usually the scripts don't have permission to edit the site files for security reasons.
All that said, your script should be changed to something more like this:
if (!in_array($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], file('ip.txt', FILE_IGNORE_NEW_LINES)))
{
file_put_contents('ip.txt', $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] . "\n", FILE_APPEND);
$count = file_get_contents('count.txt');
$count++;
file_put_contents('count.txt', $count);
}
Clean, simple, direct. But you still have to make sure the PHP script has permission to edit those files.

Replace a particular line in a text file using php?

I have a text file that stores lastname, first name, address, state, etc as a string with a | delimiter and each record on a separate line.
I have the part where I need to store each record on a new line and its working fine; however, now I need to be able to go back and update the name or address on a particular line and I can't get it to work.
This how to replace a particular line in a text file using php? helped me here but I am not quite there yet. This overwrites the whole file and I lose the records. Any help is appreciated!
After some edit seems to be working now. I am debugging to see if any errors.
$string= implode('|',$contact);
$reading = fopen('contacts.txt', 'r');
$writing = fopen('contacts.tmp', 'w');
$replaced = false;
while (!feof($reading)) {
$line = fgets($reading);
if(stripos($line, $lname) !== FALSE) {
if(stripos($line, $fname) !== FALSE) {
$line = "$string";
$replaced = true;
}
}
fwrite($writing, "$line");
//fputs($writing, $line);
}
fclose($reading); fclose($writing);
// might as well not overwrite the file if we didn't replace anything
if ($replaced)
{
rename('contacts.tmp', 'contacts.txt');
} else {
unlink('contacts.tmp');
}
It seems that you have a file in csv-format. PHP can handle this with fgetcsv() http://php.net/manual/de/function.fgetcsv.php
if (($handle = fopen("contacts.txt", "r")) !== FALSE) {
$data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, '|')
/* manipulate $data array here */
}
fclose($handle);
So you get an array that you can manipulate. After this you can save the file with fputcsv http://www.php.net/manual/de/function.fputcsv.php
$fp = fopen('contacts.tmp', 'w');
foreach ($data as $fields) {
fputcsv($fp, $fields);
}
fclose($fp);
Well, after the comment by Asad, there is another simple answer. Just open the file in Append-mode http://de3.php.net/manual/en/function.fopen.php :
$writing = fopen('contacts.tmp', 'a');

php writing additional lines to encrypted files?

I'm trying to open an encrypted file that will store a list of information, then add a new ID with information, and save the file back as it was originally encrypted. I have xor/base64 functions that are working, but I am having trouble getting the file to retain old information.
here is what I am currently using:
$key = 'some key here';
$id = $_GET['id'];
$group = $_GET['group'];
$file = "groups.log";
$fp = fopen($file, "w+");
$fs = file_get_contents($file);
$filedec = xorstr(base64_decode($fs),$key);
$info = "$id: $group";
$filedec = $filedec . "$info\n";
$reencode = base64_encode(xorstr($filedec,$key));
fwrite($fp, $reencode);
fclose($fp);
function xorstr($str, $key) {
$outText = '';
for($i=0;$i<strlen($str);)
{
for($j=0;$j<strlen($key);$j++,$i++)
{
$outText .= $str[$i] ^ $key[$j];
}
}
return $outText;
}
?>
It should save an entire list of the ID's and their corresponding groups, but for some reason it's only showing the last input :(
I wouldn't call this encryption. "cereal box decoder ring", maybe. If you want encryption, then use the mcrypt functions. At best this is obfuscation.
The problem is that you're doing fopen() before doing file_get_contents. Using mode w+ truncates the file to 0-bytes as part of the fopen() call. So by the time file_get_contents comes up, you've deleted the original file.
$fs = file_get_contents(...);
$fh = fopen(..., 'w+');
in that order will fix the problem.
