Good day,
I am trying to create a script that loads my Browser Geolocation and following sends it to a file that saves it.
The problem is. The data does not get send.
And an even bigger problem is that I have tried many things but I am quite clueless.
I added several alerts but the alerts do not show up.
What should the script do?
Run once every five seconds and requesting your GeoLocation.
When you click accept on your phone and accept for all from this source you will have an active GPS alike tracking.
The code :
<script type="text/javascript">
function success(position) {
///SaveActiveGeoLocation();
}
function error(msg) {
var s = document.querySelector('#status');
s.innerHTML = typeof msg == 'string' ? msg : "failed";
s.className = 'fail';
// console.log(arguments);
}
if(navigator.geolocation){
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(success, error);
}
else{
error('not supported');
}
function SaveGeoLocation(){
var Lat = position.coords.latitude;
var Lon = position.coords.longitude;
var Accuracy = position.coords.accuracy;
///######## SENDING THE INFORMATION BY AJAX
$.ajax({
type : "POST", /// **** SEND TYPE
url : "savegeo.php", /// **** TARGET FILE TO FETCH THE DATA
data : {
'Lat' : Lat,
'Lon' : Lon,
'GeoAccuracy' : Accuracy
},
///######## IN CASE OF SUCCESS
success:function(response){
if( response == "ok" ){
alert('SEND!');
}
else{
alert( "Response = " + response );
}
}
}
);
}
$(document).ready(function() {
$.ajaxSetup({
cache: false
}); // This part addresses an IE bug. without it, IE will only load the first number and will never refresh
setInterval(function() {
///alert('HOI!');
SaveGeoLocation();
}, 5000);
// the "10000" here refers to the time to refresh the div. it is in milliseconds.
/// **** DEFAULT LOADING
///SaveGeoLocation();
});
</script>
The file that saves the send POST data :
<?php
include('function.geolocation.class.php');
$geo = new GeoLocation();
$Lat = $_POST['Lat'];
$Lon = $_POST['Lon'];
$GeoAccuracy = $_POST['GeoAccuracy'];
$IP = $geo->GetIP();
$file = 'location.txt';
$address = $geo->getAddress($Lat, $Lon);
$contents = $Lat.'|'.$Lon.'|'.$IP.'|'.$GeoAccuracy.'|'.date('Y-m-d H:i:s').'|'.$address.PHP_EOL;
$handle = fopen($file, 'a');
fwrite($handle, $contents);
fclose($handle);
echo 'ok';
?>
One problem I can see is the variable position does not exists in the context of the SaveGeoLocation method
function success(position) {
//SaveActiveGeoLocation();
window.position = position;
}
function SaveGeoLocation() {
if (!window.position) {
return;
}
//your stuff
}
There is no need to call SaveGeoLocation using interval, you can call SaveGeoLocation from the success callback like
function success(position) {
SaveActiveGeoLocation(position);
}
function SaveGeoLocation(position) {
//your stuff
}
If you want to save the location continuously
$(document).ready(function () {
$.ajaxSetup({
cache: false
});
function saveLocation() {
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(success, error);
}
function success(position) {
var Lat = position.coords.latitude;
var Lon = position.coords.longitude;
var Accuracy = position.coords.accuracy;
///######## SENDING THE INFORMATION BY AJAX
$.ajax({
type: "POST", /// **** SEND TYPE
url: "savegeo.php", /// **** TARGET FILE TO FETCH THE DATA
data: {
'Lat': Lat,
'Lon': Lon,
'GeoAccuracy': Accuracy
},
///######## IN CASE OF SUCCESS
success: function (response) {}
}).done(function (response) {
if (response == "ok") {
alert('SEND!');
} else {
alert("Response = " + response);
}
}).always(function () {
setTimeout(saveLocation, 5000)
});
}
function error(msg) {
var s = document.querySelector('#status');
s.innerHTML = typeof msg == 'string' ? msg : "failed";
s.className = 'fail';
}
if (navigator.geolocation) {
saveLocation();
} else {
error('not supported');
}
});

Okay so I have an uploader script that I customized and it works great. I have 2 more steps that I need to do for it to be complete and it is beyond my scope and I have read and tried numerous things and still am not getting the results that I want.
Again only code that is releative to my issue will be posted as the code works perfect and does not need any changing with the exception of trying to get a value from AJAX to PHP.
FULL JS FILE BELOW:
jQuery(document).ready(function () {

xhr.upload.addEventListener('progress', this.progress, false);

})(jQuery, window);
});
So the above code is from the .js file. The script uploads multiple selected files, which works fine. From what I have read, in order to get additional values sent to PHP you have to use the .append(), which is what I have done below. I created the var productTestID and gave it a value and then added it to the formData using the append().
My issue is how do I read it in PHP?
I have tried $_POST[productTestID] and get no results at all. I even tried doing an isset() and it comes back not set.
So what do I need to do in my PHP code to read or extract that value? Below is an excerpt from my upload.php file and like I said the file uploads work and this is how they are being accessed.
if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == "POST")
{
$error = '';
$img = '';
$dir = dirname($_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'])."/". DIR_WS_IMAGES . "upload/";
$extensions = array("jpeg","jpg","png");
foreach($_FILES['img_file']['tmp_name'] as $key => $tmp_name )
Further down in my upload.php file:
//MOVE TO FINAL LOCATION
$uploaded_file = $dir.$file_name;
if (rename($uploaded_file, $uniqueFileName))
{
$productTestID = $_POST['productTestID'];
}
$img .= '<div class="col-sm-2"><div class="thumbnail">';
$img .= '<img src="'.$dir.$file_name.'" />'.$uploaded_file . '<br>' .$fileName.'<br>'.$uniqueFileName.'<br>This Product Id is:';
$img .= $productTestID;
$img .= '</div></div>';
}
Thank You,

I'm trying to load a php file into a div on submission of a form. At the moment everything fires bar this line $('#signupform').load('newsletter-signup-call.php');, I've just got a simple echo request in there and it doesn't fire. If I goto that template it works though.
Where am I going wrong? Could I possibly fire two Ajax calls (as that in itself works) but there seems to be issues with load.
<script>
$("#signupForm").submit(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var form = $(this);
var email = $("#EmailAddress").val();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: form.attr('action') + '?email=' + email,
data: form.serialize(),
beforeSend: function(){
$(".newsletter-loading").show().css({"display":"inline-block"});
},
success: function(data)
{
console.log(data); //data contain response from your php script
register_signup();
register_prefs();
(function() {
window.sib = {
equeue: [],
client_key: "xxx"
};
/* OPTIONAL: email for identify request*/
window.sib.email_id = email;
window.sendinblue = {};
for (var j = ['track', 'identify', 'trackLink', 'page'], i = 0; i < j.length; i++) {
(function(k) {
window.sendinblue[k] = function() {
var arg = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments);
(window.sib[k] || function() {
var t = {};
t[k] = arg;
window.sib.equeue.push(t);
})(arg[0], arg[1], arg[2]);
};
})(j[i]);
}
var n = document.createElement("script"),
i = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0];
n.type = "text/javascript", n.id = "sendinblue-js", n.async = !0, n.src = "https://sibautomation.com/sa.js?key=" + window.sib.client_key, i.parentNode.insertBefore(n, i), window.sendinblue.page();
})();
sendinblue.track('marketing');
$(".newsletter-loading").hide();
form.replaceWith("<br /><p>Thanks for signing up! You'll receive an email with your discount.</p>");
}
});
});
function register_prefs(){
var email = $("#EmailAddress").val();
Cookies.set('Address', email, { expires: 100000 });
$('#signupform').load('newsletter-signup-call.php');
}
function register_signup(){
ga( 'send', 'event', 'Newsletter Sign Up', 'submit' );
}
</script>
Try to console.log the response status to see what's going wrong
function register_prefs(){
//see if this function is triggered
console.log('register_prefs function triggered')
var email = $("#EmailAddress").val();
Cookies.set('Address', email, { expires: 100000 });
$('#signupform').load('newsletter-signup-call.php', function( response, status, xhr ){
console.log('Server response : ', response)//The serve response
console.log('Status Message : ', [xhr.status, xhr.statusText])//See the status of your request, if any error it should be displayed here
});
}
BUT, Why perform another server call with load, when your are already using ajax, you can return the html in the first call in a json object {Mydata: ..., MyHTML: ...} and just use $('#signupform').html(data.MyHTML) on success.
Also, not sure but I'm suspecting a malformed URL, try this instead '/newsletter-signup-call.php' or an absolute path just to be sure.
I'm new to WebRTC and I don't understand how the signaling works on the server side. I know the request must be two-way. I'm able to send an offer to a PHP page but from there I'm stuck.. How does the other peer pick that offer so that it can generate an answer? I don't want a socket solution because I don't have my own server and I don't want to have a third-party dependency.
I have created an offer and sent that offer to a PHP page. See my code:
var myPeerConnection;
var caller_video=document.getElementById('caller_video');
var receiver_video=document.getElementById('receiver_video');
var mediaConstraints = {
video:true,
audio:false
};
function sendToServer(msg){
var msgJSON = JSON.stringify(msg);
$.ajax({
type:'get',
url:'offer.php',
data:'object='+msgJSON,
beforeSend:function(){
console.log('Sending...');
},
success:function(data){
console.log(data);
}
});
}
function reportError(error){
console.log(error.name);
}
function handleNegotiationNeededEvent(){
myPeerConnection.createOffer().then(function(offer) {
return myPeerConnection.setLocalDescription(offer);
})
.then(function(){ // so here I'm supposed to send an offer
sendToServer({
name: myUsername,
target: targetUsername,
type: "video-offer",
sdp: myPeerConnection.localDescription
});
})
.catch(reportError);
}
function handleICECandidateEvent(event){
if(event.candidate){//send the ICECandidates
sendToServer({
name: myUsername,
target: targetUsername,
type: "new-ice-candidate",
candidate: event.candidate
});
}
}
function handleTrackEvent(event){
console.log(event);
document.getElementById("received_video").srcObject = event.streams[0];
}

var stream = document.getElementById("received_video").srcObject;
var trackList = stream.getTracks();
if (trackList.length == 0){

}
}

}
closeVideoCall();
}
function closeVideoCall(){
//do something to exit the video call
}
//invite the other peer...we want to send our SDP
function invite(evt){
if (myPeerConnection){
console.log('Call already started');
}
else{
//myPeerConnection=new MediaStream();
targetUsername ='Nevil';//Unique other peer username
myUsername='Philip';
createPeerConnection();//this function creates a peer connection//uses the STUN/TURNS servers...updates myPeerConnection variable so it's not null
navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(mediaConstraints)//grab our media constraints
.then(function(localStream) {
caller_video.srcObject =localStream;
caller_video.play();
localStream.getTracks().forEach(track => myPeerConnection.addTrack(track, localStream));
})
.catch(handleGetUserMediaError);
}
}
//we click the call button
document.querySelector('#callBt').addEventListener('click',function(){
invite();
});
I know there must be a way to send back the answer but I would like to just send the offer; that way I will understand how both peers exchange the SDP on the backend. Please try using PHP. If anyone can create a signaling XHR request, I will appreciate it.
I'm having problems canceling my XHR requests when navigating between pages. I have a page that has 8 requests that get fired off. I cancel them on click of a link outside of the current page. The page stalls as it waits on the next document to load. They XHR requests appear as cancelled in developer tools, but the new document stalls as if it is waiting for them to come back.
Here you can see the page is stalled even though all the other requests are cancelled. The new page is the only pending request...
And here you can see once the page finally did make the jump the TTFB is 52.52s. If I wait for the calls to come back before clicking away the jump is instant.
Here are the headers for the new pages once it finally loads if that helps...
I use the following frankenstein code to manage XHR requests. I have a cancelAll function towards the bottom that aborts the requests...
XHRManager = {
Requests: [],
pendingRequests: [],

var timeout = 0;

}
});
}

}
}, timeout);

The site uses jQuery, PHP, Zend Framework 2, and SQL, Apache. What am I missing?
Probable causal chain
the server does not realise the XHR requests are cancelled, and so the corresponding PHP processes keep running
these PHP processes use sessions, and prevent concurrent access to this session until they terminate
Possible solutions
Adressing either of the above two points breaks the chain and may fix the problem:
(a) ignore_user_abort is FALSE by default, but you could be using a non-standard setting. Change this setting back to FALSE in you php.ini or call ignore_user_abort(false) in the scripts that handle these interruptible requests.
Drawback: the script just terminates. Any work in progress is dropped, possibly leaving the system in a dirty state.
(b) By default, PHP will not detect that the user has aborted the connection until an attempt is made to send information to the client. Do echo something periodically during the course of your long-running script.
Drawback: this dummy data might corrupt the normal output of your script. And here too, the script may leave the system in a dirty state.
A PHP sessions is stored as a file on the server. On session_start(), the script opens the session file in write mode, effectively acquiring an exclusive lock on it. Subsequent requests that use the same session are put on hold until the lock is released. This happens when the script terminates, unless you close the session explicitely. Call session_write_close() or session_abort() as early as possible.
Drawback: when closed, the session cannot be written anymore (unless you reopen the session, but this is somewhat inelegant a hack). Also the script does keep running, possibly wasting resources.
I definitely recommend the last option.
Are you storing your Ajax Request on a variable?. If not, that's what you need to do to completely cancel a request
var xhr = $.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "anyScript.php",
data: "data1=0&data2=1",
success: function(msg){
//Success Function
}
});
//here you abort the request
xhr.abort()
I assume that you have done that, but check all log files (php and apache).
Also try this:
php.ini
upload_max_filesize = 256M
post_max_size = 256M
.htaccess
php_value upload_max_filesize 256M
php_value post_max_size 256M
Another thing that bugs me is this part.
$(xm.requests).each(function () {
var t = this;
t.abort();
});
$(xm.intervals).each(function () {
var t = this;
clearInterval(t);
});
Try passing arguments to the callback and abort through them. I have seen cases, where assigning this to a variable withing $.each loop actually points to a different object or the global window.
$(xm.requests).each(function (index, value) {
value.abort();
});
$(xm.intervals).each(function (index, value) {
clearInterval(value);
});
I'm facing a strange problem for the last 10 hours and its really very annoying. The problem is with jquery printing json data from php. The php script is running fine, but when the ajax call returns in complete: event i'm not getting any valid otput.
here is the jquery code::
list_choice = "A";
content_choice = "Artists"; //globals to store default value
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.list-nav > a').click(function() {
var ltext = $(this).text();
list_choice = ltext;
console.log(ltext+" <------> ");
$.ajax({
url: 'retrieveFileFront.php',
data: {type: content_choice, navtext: list_choice},
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
complete: function(data) {
console.log(data['message']['Album_Name']);
}
});
return false;
});
});
i had to use complete: event as success: didn't worked at all. Atleast i'm getting some sort of output from the complete: event, although its giving undefined or [object][Object] which is totally ridiculous.
here is the retrieveFileFront.php:
<?php
require './retrieveFiles.php';
$type = $_POST['type'];
$nav_text = $_POST['navtext'];
$ret_files = new retrieveFiles($type, $nav_text);
$data = $ret_files->retFiles();
if ($data['success'] == FALSE) {
$data = array('success' => FALSE, 'message' => 'Sorry an Error has occured');
echo json_encode($data);
} else {
echo json_encode($data);
}
?>
and here is the /retrieveFiles.php
<?php
class retrieveFiles {
public $content_type;
public $list_nav;
public $connection;
public $result;
public $result_obj;
public $tags_array;
public $query;
public $row;
public function __construct($type, $nav_text) {
$this->content_type = $type;
$this->list_nav = $nav_text;
}
public function retFiles() {
#$this->connection = new mysqli('localhost', 'usr', 'pass', 'data');
if(!$this->connection) {
die("Sorry Database connection could not be made please try again later. Sorry for the inconvenience..");
}
if ($this->content_type == "Artists") {
$this->query = "SELECT album_name, album_art FROM album_dummy NATURAL JOIN album_images_dummy WHERE artist_name LIKE '$this->list_nav%'";
try {
$this->result = $this->connection->query($this->query);
$this->row = $this->result->fetch_row();
if (isset($this->row[0]) && isset($this->row[1])) {
$this->tags_array = array("success" => true, "message" => array("Album_Name" => $this->row[0], "Album_Art" => $this->row[1]));
return $this->tags_array;
}
} catch (Exception $e) {
echo 'Sorry an Error has occurred'.$e;
return false;
}
}
}
}
?>
I'm getting a 200 response in console in firebug, which indicates that its running okay.
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
{"success":true,"message":{"Album_Name":"Streetcleaner","Album_Art":"\/var\/www\/html\/MusicLibrary\/Musics\/1989 - Streetcleaner\/folder.jpg"}}
Now this is making me even more confused as i can see that the json is formatted properly. Please provide any sort of suggestion on how to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance..
JSON encoded data is usually not sent like
data['message']['Album_Name']);
But rather like:
data.message.Album_Name;
You're calling your results the wrong way. These are not associative arrays anymore but are now objects, as the name JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) suggests.
You need to parse the json response using
data = $.parseJSON(data)
Use success event instead of complete in ajax and we can able to parse JSON encoded data in javascript/jQuery by using JSON.parse
well after a long period of trauma, i finally found a solution, turns out that i needed to parse the response text and then access the objects, individually.
Here is the working code
list_choice = "A";
content_choice = "Artists"; //globals to store default value
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.list-nav > a').click(function() {
var ltext = $(this).text();
list_choice = ltext;
console.log(ltext+" <------> ");
$('#loading').css('visibility', 'visible');
$.ajax({
url: 'retrieveFileFront.php',
data: {type: content_choice, navtext: list_choice},
type: 'POST'
dataType: 'json',
complete: function(data) {
var res = data.responseText;
res = res.replace(/<!DOCTYPE HTML>/g, "");
res = res.trim();
console.log(res);
var arr = JSON.parse("[" + res +"]"); //needed to parse JSON object into arrays
console.log(arr[0].message.Album_Name);
console.log(arr[0].message.Album_Art);
$('#loading').css('visibility','hidden');
}
});
return false;
});
This works fine and gives the desired response. Anyways thanks for the help, guys.
