Unable to upload image to server - php

I have a file type and the button named "upload Image", where I select the file and upload the image. on clicking the upload image button image should be saved in the uploads folder.
On running in the localhost it works fine but fails to upload in the server.

Where $obj1->images_folder() is having the folder name in database as ../../MPP/images/uploads/
On running in server I am getting the output as a alert box with message "Error". How can I run it in server?

Try to manually set the full path to the upload folder - for an example:
$target_dir="http://mpp.ABCDEF.co.in/API/MPP/images/uploads/"
But you can't be sure with this relative path where the folder is. You have to find it by ftp-client or file manager - I don't know what is your hosting tools.
At all it is not good idea to use relative paths, because probably the config path and your base points are different.

You need a script that runs on the server to move the file to the uploads directory. The jQuery ajax method (running on the client in the browser) sends the form data to the server, then a script running on the server handles the upload.
Your HTML is fine, but update your JS jQuery script to look like this:

Image Upload without refreshing and change of background

Okay, so I've been on the search for an answer for weeks now.
Disclaimer
I'm new to Web development and I've learnt all by my own. Sometimes I get stuck but I've never been this stuck before.
The Problem
I want to have an Upload button on my site that automatically uploads the image to a folder and changes the background image of the same page without being redirected. This image's Path will be stored in a cookie that the user will load each time he accesses the page and the same image will be loaded as the background image. Exactly the same that Google does on its standard Tabbing page on the right bottom of the screen.
I've researched and apparently AJAX is perfect for this scenario since it enables for JQuery to mediate the php file. However I cant seem to understand how to use it in the way I need it.

I noticed some of your ID's you're referencing in your JS file doesn't seem to match your HTML code.

There is a folder named "uploads" in the root directory of the website, with change permissions for "users" and "IIS_users".
When I select a file with the file-form and press the upload button, the first alert returns "[object FormData]". the second alert doesn't get called and the"uploads" folder is empty too!?
Can someone help my finding out whats wrong?
Also the next step should be, to rename the file with a server side generated name. Maybe someone can give me a solution for this, too.
You need a script that runs on the server to move the file to the uploads directory. The jQuery ajax method (running on the client in the browser) sends the form data to the server, then a script running on the server handles the upload.
Your HTML is fine, but update your JS jQuery script to look like this:

upload.php: a PHP script that is located and runs on the server, and directs the file to the uploads directory:

Also, a couple things about the destination directory:
Make sure you have the correct server path, i.e., starting at the PHP script location what is the path to the uploads directory, and
Make sure it's writeable.
And a little bit about the PHP function move_uploaded_file, used in the upload.php script:

$_FILES['file']['name'] is the name of the file as it is uploaded. You don't have to use that. You can give the file any name (server filesystem compatible) you want:

And finally, be aware of your PHP upload_max_filesize AND post_max_size configuration values, and be sure your test files do not exceed either. Here's some help how you check PHP configuration and how you set max filesize and post settings.
