WAMP is relatively new ground to me. I have currently only done basic installations and vhosts configurations.
Issue
I am trying to get the PDO drivers installed on my WAMP server so I can connect to SQL Server Databases. From a previous question I asked it was determined i do not have the correct drivers.
Attempts
I have downloaded the drivers from here but I am still not sure which drivers I need to be using. My Apache and PhP build are as follows Apache/2.4.9 (Win32) PHP/5.5.12
I have installed the SQLSRV32.EXE downloaded from the Microsoft page and put it into the PHP extensions on WAMP. a lot of pdo options now show up but they have a red warning sign above them. even though i can see these with the red warning sign I continue to get PDO drivers not found error message when I try to connect to the database.
Resources
so you can see my current php_info I have pasted it into my chrome here
It's a common problem, and one I've solved for a few people recently. Make sure you check the following list to ensure you have put them in place:
Ensure both php_pdo_sqlsrv_54_ts.dll and php_sqlsrv_54_ts.dll are in your /ext directory.
Ensure the following lines are present in your php.ini file: extension=php_pdo_sqlsrv_54_ts.dll & extension=php_sqlsrv_54_ts.dll.
Ensure you have installed VC++ redist located here. Make sure you download and install the x86 version regardless of the architecture of your OS otherwise this will not work.
Check these things and come back to me with an answer.

I recently installed iis 7 and php 5.6.15 on my windows computer and for the most part everything is working fine. I can run phpinfo perfectly, but when I was trying to connect to a remote MySQL database I received the error above.
From searching the web I've learned that I do not have the module required to use pdo (pdo_mysql I think?).
I also for some reason do not have a php.ini. I have a loaded configuration file of (none) according to phpinfo. I have a php.ini-production and development however, but when I renamed production as php.ini I couldn't even use phpinfo.
So in conclusion how would I go about installing the pdo module I need (noting that I have very little experience with web design or php in general)?
I suggest you use a WAMP stack instead of IIS. Use WAMP/XAMPP on your windows! It's much easier to configure, and install modules. Plus, it would have configured your MySQL and Apache Server for php for you! So, you can just start building away!
I just updated my Wamp Server and got a problem now.
My SQLSRV extension wont get loaded correctly.
I dont know where the problem is exactly because i dont get any errors on startup. Also the error log is clean. There is just a little red triangle instead of a check in the php extension list:
Some Information:
Windows Server 2012 x64
Wamp 2.5 32BIT
PHP5.5
The Warning Icon means one of 2 things :-
Either the extension= line is in your php.ini but the dll it points to is not in your \ext folder
Or the dll exists in the ext folder but not in your php.ini
Which one is it in your case. If you updated WAMPServer the SQLServer dll does not come with any PHP install by default, so you will have to download it from the microsoft site.
hmm, i still cant understand this error. sure i know that i have to download the SQL driver manually. And i know only the "SQLSRV31.EXE" driver is working with Win Server 2K12. I downloaded this one and copied all php5.5 drivers into the /ext folder. Then i copied the name of the dll`s and added them to the php.ini:

I will tryout installing the older wamp version with php5.4 included. May this will work =)
I also experienced the same thing happened to you. I tried many things but didn't work at all. I installed all the things required for Wamp like Microsoft visual basics 2012 but it still didn't worked.
This is the most important thing, for me this problem happened because i download wamp server 2.5 from the official wamp server site. http://www.wampserver.com/Mk
DON'T DO IT. it's totally a shit. then i download wamp server 2.4(old version) from this site called FIRE HORSE. this is the link http://www.filehorse.com/download-wampserver-32/
I downloaded and installed wamp server 2.4 from this site and it worked perfectly fine. and i also installed the latest Joomla version 3.4.5 in wamp server. Now i'm using it 100% fine. Many thanks for FIRE HORSE site.
I hope you all will find this useful and don't forget to tell me if i'm wrong because i'm still in learning progress i just shared my experience with you all. thank you.
I recently upgraded Apache and PHP due to security, and I also use PHP to communicate with Oracle databases. The new PHP version only has php_oci8_12c.dll module, so I also installed Oracle 12c client.
After I enable the oci8 module, I noticed the module doesn't show up in Apache when I run phpinfo(), but if I run php -m, I find the oci8 module there. Further checking revealed that the PATH environment variable has not been updated since the upgrade, and that the new path only get appended at the end of the PATH variable.
I paste below the (stripped-down) PATH data from Apache:
C:\oracle\client11gR2_32\bin;C:\www\Apache24\bin;C:\www\php548;C:\database\mysql5528\bin;C:\oracle12c\client12c_32\bin;C:\www\php562;C:\www\php562\ext
Compared with system PATH variable:
C:\oracle12c\client12c_32\bin;C:\oracle\client11gR2_32\bin;C:\www\Apache24\bin;C:\www\php562;C:\www\php562\ext;C:\database\mysql5528\bin
I tried restarting the Apache service, and also uninstall/reinstall, but none works. It seems that the data somehow get 'cached' in a separate location, but I can't tell where. If I renamed the Oracle client 11g HOME folder, then the oci8 module is detected and loaded in Apache.
I've searched all around the internet for 'resetting' the Apache PATH variable, but to no avail, therefore I post it here. Please help.
There are two possible reasons I can think of:
The path to the 12c client is a user variable, not a system variable (but then I would expect it to be at the end of the path list)
The 12c client installer has directly modified the registry to add the path, and therefore the system environment has not recognised the change yet. (If you are running Apache as a service then just because your account can see the path change doesn't mean the SYSTEM account can see the change.)
Assuming the latter case, a server reboot would fix the problem. If you can't reboot the server then you can try stopping Apache, opening the Environment Variables dialog, and simply pressing OK (on this and all parent dialogs) to 'reinitialise' the system environment. Start Apache again and it should pick up the new setting.
On a related note: You should really replace the bundled OCI driver (1.4.10) with the most recent build from PECL (currently 2.0.8). As stated in the PECL description:
Use the older PHP OCI8 1.4.10 when using PHP 4.3.9
through to PHP 5.1.x, or when only Oracle Database 9.2 client
libraries are available.
The Windows download contains php_oci8.dll, php_oci8_11g.dll, and php_oci8_12c.dll. So you wouldn't have needed to try changing the Oracle client installation.
I have mssql_* functions working on my Ubuntu installation and want to duplicate this on my windows 7 box. I have installed wamp on the win7 box, but I cannot get it to see the mssql_* functions. I have read many posts about nothing is working. I have the ext directory properly set. I have extension=php_mssql.dll do not see the mssql section in phpinfo, but I do see sqlsrv section. I would like my prod and test environment to match.
Thanks in advance for any assistance

I just checked my local wampserver 2.1 installation, and although there's an option to enable the php_mssql extension, it's missing from the extensions directory.
You can try the FreeTDS extension, which supposedly works fine under both *nix and Windows.
The Moodle wiki specifies that the Microsoft SQL Server driver has "known problems":
WARNING: This driver has known problems and is therefore not suitable
for any Moodle production servers.
and recommends the use of FreeTDS instead (by installing the php_dblib extension). Moodle is a known user of MSSQL, and a respected project, but they don't really specify what they mean by "known problems", so you can take this with a grain of salt...
http://docs.moodle.org/24/en/Installing_MSSQL_for_PHP
If FreeTDS doesn't work for you, you can try installing the official Microsoft drivers:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20098
I have set up a XAMPP installation on a windows server 2008 R2 that includes:
Apache 2
PHP 5.3.x
MySQL (not used anyway)
Then I have installed PostGreSQL 9.x. I have uncommented the pgsql pdo dlls in the php.ini file accordingly but when I try to connect to pgsql I get 'driver could not be loaded'. I am stuck as I couldn't come across a fix to that on the internet, I have tried adding the path of the pgsql installation (bin and lib dirs) to the PATH environement system but the problem persists. I have also rebooted the system many times after changing any configuration to ensure it is saved and applied but still same outcome.
I have read in a nonclear conversation that this might be related to the versions but couldn't find anything further.
If you have succeeded in performing the latter I would be greateful if you could provide me with some insight. (I am open to any alternatives except downgrading to older software versions).
Thanks so much for your time
Fixed by manually installing apache2 and php instead of going through xampp (or wampp). It seems those are buggy when it comes to the latest php version and pgsql pdo driver.
