I know it will be something silly I appreciate all help as always thanks

Base on your code this is a simple demonstartion i am explanning, DB::select will returns a array which contains several objects (may be more than one), and then you assign it to$this->food.
Remember, the $this->food looks like
Array (
[0] => stdClass Object (
[name] => 'Beef'
)
)
Actually, $this->food->name is trying to access a undefined property.
Solution 1:
You should use $this->food[0]->name to access it.
Thought it looks weird, but it works.
Solution 2:
Why not call Food::find($id) to fetch the object instead of $food = new food($id)
You can learn more by reading this http://laravel.com/docs/eloquent
Hope this might help you in solving your problem

What causes this warning?
You should check that what you are passing to foreach is an array by using the is_array function
If you are not sure it's going to be an array you can always check using the following PHP example code:
if (is_array($variable)) {
foreach ($variable as $item) {
//do something
}
}
This means that you are doing a foreach on something that is not an array.
Check out all your foreach statements, and look if the thing before the as, to make sure it is actually an array. Use var_dump to dump it.
Then fix the one where it isn't an array.
How to reproduce this error:
<?php
$skipper = "abcd";
foreach ($skipper as $item){ //the warning happens on this line.
print "ok";
}
?>
Make sure $skipper is an array.
Because, on whatever line the error is occurring at (you didn't tell us which that is), you're passing something to foreach that is not an array.
Look at what you're passing into foreach, determine what it is (with var_export), find out why it's not an array... and fix it.
Basic, basic debugging.
Try this.
if(is_array($value) || is_object($value)){
foreach($value as $item){
//somecode
}
}

Cannot use object of type stdClass as array => still getting error after fixing json_encode

I need to reorganize my JSON and i'm using StdClass() yet getting this error: Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array
I have looked at other questions re this before posting here, yet I've found that the true option is needed, which I've already amended, yet no success.
This is my function:
function getFilesJson($fileArray){
$arrayOfStudentFiles = [];
foreach ($fileArray as $key => $file){
$outObj = new StdClass;
$tmpFileObject = new StdClass;
$outObj->files = [];
$tmpFileObject->name = $fileArray[$key]['sequence']->name;
$tmpFileObject->compiled = true;
$tmpFileObject->lineNumbers = $fileArray[$key]['sequence']->lineNumbers;
$tmpFileObject->sequence = $fileArray[$key]['sequence']->sequence;
$tmpFileObject->defTerms = $fileArray[$key]['sequence']->defTerms;
$outObj->files[0] = $tmpFileObject;
$outObj->filesMotifs = [];
$outObj->fileName = "{$fileArray[$key]->name}.zip";
$outObj->unknowns = $fileArray[$key]['sequence']->unknowns;
$outObj->motifs = [];
$outObj->clusters = [];
$outObj->objects = [];
if (isset($fileArray[$key]->objects))
$outObj->objects = $fileArray[$key]->objects;
$arrayOfStudentFiles[] = json_encode($outObj, true);
}
return $arrayOfStudentFiles;
}
EDIT: $fileArray is an array of stdClass's
Change your final output as Array instead of object like,
function getFilesJson($fileArray){
$arrayOfStudentFiles = [];
foreach ($fileArray as $key => $file){
$outObj = [];
$tmpFileObject = [];
$outObj['files'] = [];
$tmpFileObject['name'] = $file['sequence']['name'];
$tmpFileObject['compiled'] = true;
$tmpFileObject['lineNumbers'] = $file['sequence']['lineNumbers'];
$tmpFileObject['sequence'] = $file['sequence']['sequence'];
$tmpFileObject['defTerms'] = $file['sequence']['defTerms'];
$outObj[files[0]] = $tmpFileObject;
$outObj['filesMotifs'] = [];
$outObj['fileName'] = "{$file['name']}.zip";
$outObj['unknowns'] = $file['sequence']['unknowns'];
$outObj['motifs'] = [];
$outObj['clusters'] = [];
$outObj['objects'] = [];
if (isset($file['objects']))
$outObj['objects'] = $file['objects'];
$arrayOfStudentFiles[] = json_encode($outObj, true);
}
return $arrayOfStudentFiles;
}

Entity metadata wrapper

i'm getting error with metadata wrapper.
i have a field test => entity reference multiple which is a selection list.I get the following Error EntityMetadataWrapperException : Invalid data value given. Be sure it matches the required data type and format.
$account = entity_load_single('user', $user->uid);
$acc_wrapper = entity_metadata_wrapper('user', $account);
$list = $acc_wrapper->test->value();
$exists = FALSE;
if (!empty($list)) {
foreach ($list as $item) {
if ($item->nid == $form_state['storage']['node']->nid) {
$exists = TRUE;
break;
}
}
}
if (!$exists) {
if (!$list) {
$list = array();
$list[] = $form_state['storage']['node']->nid;
}
$acc_wrapper->test->set($list);
$acc_wrapper->save();
1rst quick tips
$account = entity_load_single('user', $user->uid);
$acc_wrapper = entity_metadata_wrapper('user', $account);
You don't need to load the entity unless you need it loaded after (Or it's already loaded). All you need is the id, and let entity_metadata_wrapper magic operate.
$acc_wrapper = entity_metadata_wrapper('user', $user->uid);
I think your error is here
if (!$list) {
$list = array();
$list[] = $form_state['storage']['node']->nid;
}
$list is always initiated because of "$list = $acc_wrapper->test->value();", so you never fullfill the condition, and then you are trying to set it back and save it (because you are missing a '}' )... Makes no sense...
Could try this version ?
$acc_wrapper = entity_metadata_wrapper('user', $user->uid);
$list = $acc_wrapper->test->value();
$exists = FALSE;
if (!empty($list)) {
foreach ($list as $item) {
if ($item->nid == $form_state['storage']['node']->nid) {
$exists = TRUE;
break;
}
}
}
if (!$exists && !$list) {
$list = array($form_state['storage']['node']->nid);
$acc_wrapper->test = $list;
$acc_wrapper->save();
}
